hey i naturally have 3a/2c hair, i would recommend using the denman brush first then going through and scrunching the mouse in (not raking). it really just helps to define the curls and lock them in while also avoiding frizz

@@Lucy-yb7dy if you hair ringlets, even with a denmin brush it's not 2b. Many people's hair does not define without styling, their hair is not magically straight.
I was struggling sm with how to use the deman brush, my curls ended up looking super big and clumped on first use. But I reaaally love how straightforward this tutorial was!! It really helps that you included several techniques and some great tips. :) It can be misleading at first when someone with naturally coily hairy just glides the Denman brush through their hair and they get those gorgeous curls. My hair needs a lot of help to forn and maintain a coil since I lost a lot of my curl pattern which is why I prefer your technique. 🙂

Can you do a video on what you do on day 2,3,4 to touch up the curls? I have a perm but I feel like on day 2 I dont like the way my curls look so I just wear my hair in a bun.

My hair is super curly when wet but as it dries, no matter how much gel i use, the curls always come out and ends up being barely wavy. It’s so discouraging when i spend hours on it and when it’s finally dry it not even curly anymore help 😭 😭

I do curl twists with Denman brush but do it differently, twisting from top of hair. I’ll have to try your way next time and see if it works better. Your hair looks great.

I have never seen anyone use the diffuser that way. I always placed my hair inside the diffuser. I need to get another blow dryer and diffuser so I can have my hair naturally curly. I also need to get a wet 2 dry instyler for my hair because I love having bigger curls as well. It takes 2 and a half days for my extremely thick naturally curly hair to air dry. Her hair does look good
I use devacurl gel, wave mouse from devacurl, and lavender refresh mist from devacurl and I just bought tea tree tingle conditioner from Trader Joe’s and just got my denman brush. I think I might have 2a/2b or even 2c hair but it’s so hard to tell but it’s definitely at least 2A.
With that much product in your hair doesn't your hair feel sticky and weighted down once it is dried? If I used that many pumps I would be washing my hair the next day. I will be trying your Denman technique tomorrow. Great tutorial!
No my hair drinks up product and actually feels very light once I scrunch the crunch out haha! I also make sure to use a clarifying shampoo weekly so I avoid any product buildup ☺️
I am new curly methods. I like your technique with the brush. I have question about at the end of your 3-4 day run of not shampooing, do you brush your hair out?…..and when you do this, is your hair still curly/wavy or does it straighten out?

Love the video! I've had a Denman brush for a year and have barely used it because I wasn't doing it right. I decided to try again and found your video and I'm going to try your techniques! How do you refresh your hair after the initial wash? I feel like that's the hardest thing for me once my ringlets are actually defined, because then I can't run my fingers through them to add product or water.
I either use a refreshing foam like the not your mothers, or I’ll completely dampen the top layer and do finger coils to give it the illusion of a fresh wash!

Hi! Try using a stronger hold gel to set the ringlets and you can scrunch out the crunch after it’s fully dried. Or, I’ve also seen people use a finishing hairspray once the hair is completely dry to keep the shape

Whenever i try this kind of technique my curls clump so much i separate the curls with oil as you did but they clump back together I thought it was because of buildup so i clearified my hair even got a few inches cut but it's the same issue still going on Do you have some tips on how to separate curls without making them clump back Also this technique gives me nice ringlets not loose curls like i have a combination of 3a 2c but denman brush makes them kind of more towards the wavy side
You got an s shape at top of length of hair and a ringlets at the bottom coz u only curl the bottom. U should start curling from top to bottom with Denham brush babe so it's even ! That's what I do.
It could be a lot of reasons! My first instinct would be to say you need to add styling product in soaking wet hair. If it's frizzy when it's wet, it'll be frizzy when it's dry. It's also super important to do deep conditioning treatments etc. to help improve damaged hair! Not sure what yours is like personally - but just some thoughts! 😊

LOL as I’m styling the top layers of my hair dries quickly since I style soaking wet. But for it to fully dry (like my entire scalp) it takes a while since I have so much hair. Didn’t mean to contradict myself 😝
damn, that's like what? 4 hours? D: the point of wavy hair is to let it curl to save time. Try spraying aloe vera juice in towel-dried hair and use the same drying technique. 15 mins max and done.
There’s a point of having wavy hair...? The reason you style it with a brush is because some people have extremely undefined/frizzy hair, towel drying it will just enhance the frizz?
If I remember correctly from other curly hair videos, I think this denman brush has a curve to it. When you drag your wavy/curly hair over this shape it helps curl it more. A bit like when you use scissors to curl ribbon on a gift

When I do, it gives me very skinny spirals and as you can see, I like the chunky spirals and I can achieve that better with this technique. With curly hair styling, I feel like it’s all about what works for you 🙂

You could be using products too heavy for your hair. It's hard to say without knowing your full routine

I suggest using mostly leave in conditioner and maybe a little bit of gel

I think you should think about some layers cut to increase the curls and the volume! Your hair is clearly heavy.

When I do, it gives me very skinny spirals and as you can see, I like the chunky spirals and I can achieve that better with this technique. With curly hair styling, I feel like it’s all about what works for you 🙂
