I believe that the reason why she declined to take part in the variety show was due to the fact that she was in search of landing some more dramatic acting roles. In fact, the year was 1976 when The Brady Bunch Variety Hour premiered, which was also the same year that Eve starred in the movie Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway as the title character.

Such good clean fun and very entertaining. We need to have more shows like this around now. The costumes were gorgeous and the dancing was great. The singing could have been better but It's always nice to see The Brady Bunch perform. I did miss Eve Plumb on the show though.

I was 10 when this show aired, and as a huge Brady fan (I watched it religiously in reruns), I couldn't have been more thrilled. Instead of watching episodes that were anywhere from 3 to 8 years old (which is an eternity when you're 10), I was able to see the Bradys in a *contemporary* setting! This is them NOW! I couldn't wait for the show to come on each week, that is, until it was canceled.
