Complete history of Ace Attorney? Please?
I was a Sega kid too, who jumped to Sony when PS1 hit.
Dude how many youtube channels do you have?
@@demonic-deadbeat3212 I don't understand the question
@@slopesgameroom Really? I thought the Question was straight forward i'm not trying to be a dick i was just asking how many youtube channels do you have? That's all.
There was a cool trick that i did while playing twisted metal 2. If u were ok with just playing the same map over and over, u could load the map, start playing then pause and remove the disk. Insert ur favorite cd and have ur own custom sound track. Id play tm2 while listening to a metallica soundtrack
I think that works with gta as well
I did this with a bunch of ps1 games. Street skate, gta, and others. They were fun to see which worked in my old cd player as well.
There was a game called burnout paradise that had custom soundtrack it was an awesome crazy driving game for ps2 you did a bunch of tricks with
That’s cool af
Whaaaat. Crazy!
Seeing those Twisted Metal commercials as a child use to have me bouncing off the walls. Still one of my favorite franchise on the PlayStation.
Oh my god. I had forgotten the PS1 start up sound. Good lord the nostalgia hit hard.
That's what 20 something years feels like...
😭
Back in the day, David K., when starting up your beloved console was a power play. A start up sound that commanded "Hey! Let's play, dammit!". The PS3's start up sound sounds so sad by comparison.
@@adamgray1753 I haven't own a Sony since the PS2. Went 360, then just migrated to nearly 100% PC (though I did get the kids a switch I enjoy fiddling with). But the PS1, I mean...it and the N64 were my youth. Just a phenomenal time for gaming.
Pepperidge farms remembers...
i saw what you did there... 😆
But Twisted Metal Head On did come out in PAL regions on PSP, I had a copy. it's the Extra Crispy edition on PS2 that was US exclusive.
And I eckon Twisted Metal would make for a great Battle Royale game too online, Hell, it's been a Battle Royale game before the term even existed.
Yeah I realised just before uploading that I made it sound like the PSP version didnt come out when I know it did as I too also had it :P
Hell, the battle royale premise is more or less just the same Deathmatch concept we've known for years. Just with a different name, a storm mechanic, and increased player count.
@@IkariMetalSlugger it was just called "elimination" in most games. Same concept.
@@reanukeeves1164 More or less. It's all the same concept.
@@reanukeeves1164 fan of Spiffing? Lol
The vehicle physics in TM3 were absolutely insane. 989 was really onto something with TM3 with physics
Agreed. I thought it rocked
Its still my favorite of the series only because minion battle is by far the best boss of any twisted metal game.
Pushing enemies out of the blimp or into the fan on Tokyo was the best.
personally I find the ps1 twisted metal games hold up very well.
As does Rogue Trip
@@juniorsanchez7441 rouge trip?
@@petman515 Rogue Trip: Vacation 2012. It was developed by the same company that made the first 2 Twisted Metal games, if im not mistaken. A classic! Same game engine just improved and refined since it came out after the TM games
@@juniorsanchez7441 cool I'll look it uo
@@juniorsanchez7441 rogue trip was my childhood!
So... how much do you want to bet they are waiting for Battle Royal games to die down, so the next Twisted Metal doesn't have to compete with Tetris?
I never played TM3, but I played the shit out of TM4, and not only is it great, but perhaps my favorite of the lot. And that soundtrack, my god, I still listen to it to this day.
TM4 had one thing that made me really love it and that was the create-a-car mode. That was fun. Truly fun. I'd say Black is my fav, followed by TM2 and TM4. I didn't like the PS3 Twisted Metal because of the aforementioned 3 characters only. The game needs characters.
This has literally been the complete history episode I've been waiting for
Same. Now all I need is a Worms episode and my childhood will be complete.
Awesome I’m excited. 🍻
For me it's Zool. 😁
Fun sidenote: Twisted Metal: Harbor City's prototype ROM was dumped as recent as June of this year. Downside is that it's a stubborn bastard to get it working.
True that... your channel is awesome btw
@@slopesgameroom I've played Twisted Metal before and the Ice Cream Truck drives the easiest.....
Extra points for including Vigilante 8 home screen music at the 21 minute mark.
Hahaha well spotted!
Vigilante 8 was so good too
Twisted Metal: VR would actually be pretty kick-ass.
Now with real whiplash.
I would figure Twisted Metal: Augmented Reality would be the best Twisted Metal... for those looking for total immersion.
@@adamgray1753 Would be a nice callback to the First Person view from TM1 at least.
Twisted Metal: Visciously Real
Imagine being picked up by MR.SLAM
COMING BACK TO THIS VID JUST TO SAY A live action series has just been announced
It was announced years ago.
The very best game in the series for me is definitely Twisted Metal 4. After its excellent controlls, stunning graphics, unique levels with lots of secrets and soundtrack from Rob Zombie, it becomes very difficult to watch and play any other part. At least from the PS1 era.
Twisted Metal 2. twisted 3&4 were made by 989 studios not the original developers. we pretend those games don't exist lol
Black was the best as far as story and characters
That was the worst one
You just made my day. Welcome to Twisted Metal.
Oh god that Twisted Metal theme brings back so much good memories. Love the series.
I'm normally sick of the games after making these videos.... not this time!
twisted metal 2, 3, and 4 are my fav car combat games for the psx
Twisted Metal 4 is underrated. Sure its not good as Twisted Metal 2 or Black but its definitely better than Twisted Metal 3 and 989 Studios learn from there mistakes and try to improve upon it predecessor. Also I really love Sweet Tooth design in this game an psychopathic clown dress up in a ringmaster outfit is brilliant!
In my opinion, twisted metal 4 is definitely better than the second one. And I just can’t understand why everyone is so delighted with TM2, but don’t like TM4. Absolutely all aspects of the game that I can think of are made better in TM4 compared to TM2. Controls, navigation, graphics, art style, music, speed, characters, weapons. And still, everyone considers TM4 worse. I don't get it.
@@EG_John Ayy, someone who agrees with me! I'm not alone!
Kind of sad the nerdy guy from Murphy Brown and Brisco County Jr had to start doing video game commercials..
@@EG_John TM4 was great and introduced a lot of novel features and mechanics we haven't seen in the series before or since. However the main problem with the game was balance. The Custom Cars whilst fun had roughly half the health of the stock cars, and the boss cars generally had roughly 2-2.5 times the health of the stock cars as well as overpowered specials like Sweet Tooth's and Moon Buggy's that all but guaranteed an opponent's death each time you used them; even if you had no line of sight on them. There was also a huge issue with instakills via placing stacked proximity bombs on the ends of one-way portals (these would deal massive damage and send any vehicle flying out of the map, almost always guaranteeing their death even if they activated invincibility). You could also camp portals and one-way rooms with remote bombs and remote freeze bombs, adding to the tactical elements of the game but also adding hardcore cheese elements to the normally fast-paced series. Another issue was there was no cooldown on freeze effects. You could be frozen again and again by freeze missiles, remote freeze bombs, certain specials, etc until they ran out; leaving you no way to retaliate (especially if the combo was initiated with a remote freeze bomb on the other end of a portal). Using invincibility could counter freeze combo initiations, but it also left you with no energy left to use freeze missiles of your own after, often leaving you at a disadvantage.
The unlockable polygon levels, the interactive level hazards, the secret areas in levels, and custom cars were some of my favourite things about the game though. Those were great fun and made TM4 one of the most memorable games in the series by far.
@@Warhawk. git gud bruh, haha tm4 was sick and hard, played it hundreds of hours, 2player was bomb and fun af
I didn't realize how many people love TM4, that's cool man. Nostalgic beyond belief for me. A game me and my best friend played nonstop before I was sent to foster care and not see him for 8 years. Either way, there will always be a special place in my heart for TM4
Its okay. 2, 3, and black are better but i loved all of them
@@andrewverrett568 yeah playing it now the gameplay is horrible. But either way to each their own
Yesss this game was awesome. Part 2 was my fav. Had a group of friends that played constantly and pretty seriously. That game was was prettt deep! I feel like car combat is a whole genre that could easily go full competitive esports.
Couldn't agree more, mate.
Yes! I'd rather that be an esport than Fortnite!
While 2 is by far my favorite I actually had a lot of fun with 4
4 was my go to...still is. Black was great also. They all have a place in my head though :)
2 was my favorite black second then 3 so many memories playing 2
I enjoy your kickscammer vids most times and the other content is great as well, but these complete histories are the reason I subscribed. I could, and have, watch these all day. Particularly great editing on this one so far. 👍👍👍
Epic video! I love this series. 4 was my first game in the series I owned and will forever be a classic to me! Gotta love that cover art and Rob Zombie music...
That 40 minutes went by really fast....
Ahhhhh thanks... glad you enjoyed the longer video
Slopes, you magnificent bastard! I can't thank you enough for covering my all time favorite franchise!
Though a couple tidbits, the driver of Thumper was named after one of the playtesters. The driver of Spectre was named after the series co-creator, Scott Campbell.
Also, Singletrac made a car combat game with submarines called Critical Depth that I believe you would love.
Twisted Metal was one of my favorite game franchises ever! I was so stoked when Twisted Metal came out on PS3, I really hoped for one on PS4, but at this point I find it unlikely. Maybe a new one on PS5
Bring it on!
IGN wrote a recent article that Sony is going to make a TV series for twisted metal

Laughs in Bob the killer goldfish from Earthworm Jim
Pyramid Head FTW!!!
Aww man, you missed out on talking about Twisted Metal Lost which is on the Head On PS2 disc. Its 4 levels of Harbor City fully up and running. If you like Black, you will likely dig Lost.
Where can you find it
4 and small brawl are underrated imo, ive played them all a lot and i really think they stand out and are fun on their own merits. plus making your own driver/car in 4 was always really fun for me
black always dug into the horror elements a lil too hard for me i preferred the more lighter style of games. Also as someone who has bad mental health problems and know others as well the portayl of mental health in it is kinda yikes. the combat is really good though, but i personally think head to head is the best of the PS2 era Twisted Metals
could not click fast enough. been waiting for this forever.
Stfu bitch ur not weeb u dont watch anime and never been to japan
they need to bring this back, and also LOADED
Fantastic series, fantastic video. Speaking of 989 Studios, can I please put a request in for a Syphon Filter complete history? Cheers!
YES!!!!!! 989 Studios had some great stuff, but they were Sony's company, no wonder.
There have been times when I reference Twisted Metal with my friends and they’re like “what’s twisted metal?” and I get in my Ice cream truck and blow them up with missiles.
I don’t have many friends.
Nice! I usually let them leave, then when they least expect it, I hop in my blue Dodge Viper and fire a ghost missle and watch it phase through their house and blow up in their dumbass face.
i usually jump in my red Ferrari and blast fools with my red laser.....
BEWARE CRIMSON FURY, HE'S A RED LANTERN!!!
I jump in my nuclear missle truck that everyone forgot was a vehicle in a forgettable game
I usually just tell them to wait, walk around the corner, become one with my 2 giant wheels and come back and deliver a sonic wave.
Twisted Metal 2 was without a doubt my favorite, played the HELL out of that game with my friends, Thumper was my boy I use to destroy with him and Outlaw. I think I still have my original disc somewhere in my room. Great video 👍
Push somebody up against a wall and use thumpers special. Done deal.
I was gonna have a nap then you drop this sick 40 min vid one of the best games ever
Cheers bud :D
It would be amazing if they remastered all the Twisted Metal games and released them on PS5 in a massive Twisted Metal collection.
I hope they do too I think it will do great especially like 2 or black
If there was a game that deserves a battle royale mode right now..

I miss this series
OMFG the original PS1 intro makes my heart race with nostalgia.
Mad Respect for this franchise
Great Memories with TM1 and TM2
Always nice to see another proud video game collection stored on the same Argos bookcases as mine 👊
I never got super into the series, but man did I love the direction they took with Twisted Metal Black. I got so hooked on that game just to see everyone’s story.
Thank you, I always was a huge fan and needed something like this, I love this vid, it's very well put together and entertaining and very much property paid homage to the series. Thank for creating it
yup first 10seconds gave me the chills.
Great video, but what got me excited the most, was finding out the game i played at my mates house when i was a kid and that was Rouge Trip for years i thought it might have been Vigilante 8 because i never got a hold of a copy myself only RUclips vids. But when you mentioned Rouge Trip a game I've never heard i instantly googled it and there it was that Airport level that i remember. Thank you!
Honestly surprised they haven't tried to retool Twisted Metal for the Battle Royale market... It would fit the franchise like a glove...
Me too!
I used to hate the idea at first. But a 1 life deathmatch on a big map is no different than a battle royale and I think it would be the only BR I would legitimately play.
This makes me want to dig up my PS2 and play TM:B again (I lost the memory card that had everything unlocked, so time to unlock everything again).
Your in for a good time
There was a HUGE line of teens outside the local Gamestop the day Twisted Metal (the original) released and when they were told they couldn't sell the game to people under the age of 18 I thought there would be a riot. I just got got one of my friends to buy it for me.
That's almost like a mandella effect for me, I just Google and apparently they were around since I was one but I didn't go to one til like 09 or 10 lol when I wanted to cut out the middle man but you get deals on the front end just not on the back end if selling which is why you gain an advantage just to buy.
Loved and played mostly TM III & IV. Black was awesome but for some reason passed on it for other games at the time.
Yeah, same here, and I liked 2 also, but 3 was always my favorite. I think I liked the idea of Black more than the actual game. Like I enjoyed the visuals of the cutscenes and the designs of some of the characters and cars, as well as the stories and the music, but I didn't like the actual game play much. It felt like a game where you're playing with toy cars or something, it was weird.
3 and 4 fan here. I believe the separation between 1/2 and 3/4 is solely based on which group we started out with.
I owned and played them all but clearly remenber 3 and 4 having most of my time invested into. Now that I look back I believe Black to be the best of the series as the pace of the game made it that much more competitive.
Hell, even Star Wars had a Vehicle Combat game.
Which was just a tweaked version of the Vigilante 8 game engine. And it was great - I will still fire it up in an emulator on a fairly regular basis.
Vehicle combat games are my favorite genre. I still think the pinnacle of the game style was Roadkill on the GameCube/PS2/Xbox. It's a shame it never got a sequel.
He left out red asphalt
The editing in this vid was legit pretty awesome
Really appreciate it... spent a long time on this video
The original game videos reveal that the series was intended to be called High Octane. But a change was made halfway through production, alterations were made, including the original ending videos.
I remember loving Twisted Metal 3. It was the first of the series i played, and that is probably the reason I loved it. I didn't have the other 2 to compare them to.
One of the best series, most unique characters ever!
I still have a real special place in my collection for TM4. Me and my now deceased younger brother spent countless hours on it. Nostalgia glasses aside it wasn't perfect. However I don't feel it was judged fairly due it coming after TM3 and being by the same people.
Randomly got recommended character story videos from twisted metal black now I’m here...
Twisted metal 2 and vigilante 8 were two games i ran lots as a kid the nostalgia in seeing this video is crazy its like unlocking memorys i forgot before. Thanks for the upload.
Cheers from Milwaukee, Wisconsin brother! Keep up the great work. Excellent quality and editing to your videos.
Brilliant video. Fantastic editing skills too. My favourite is Twisted Metal Black. The only other one I've played is the very first one.
Really appreciate it mate... I spent a long time editing this one :D
You can't just open a video with the PS1 launch sound like that, you have no idea how many visceral memories that unlocked in me.

Great video man! This is the first I've seen or heard of your channel and I was impressed/entertained so much so that I HAD to subscribe for more content. Love your style, presentation, sense of humor, and the overall polish and effort you've clearly put into your content. I'll definitely be back in the future for more.
One question though, where are you from mate? I ask because your accent and dialect strike a remarkable resemblance to Guru Larry's. I was curious as to if you guys grew up in the same area or something in a similar vein. Maybe it's just coincidence, but I figured there's no harm in asking. Hit me back if you'd like and have the time. I'm really interested to find out.
TM 3 and Black are my favorites.

Mikey Mouse Mania is okay just the hit detection is off, I think best Mikey game is Castle of Illusion
Twisted Metal 1 is one the best game on PSX.
I believe Motor Toon is sony oldest exclusive franchise. It was released in 1994
god, this video sent me down the path of looking up all these old ps1 games me and my brother used to play over and over on demo discs and it became tradition for us to play net yaroze on every demo disc despite having same games every damn month and always "adventure game" and that maze game with the zombies lol i remember my brother playing the Klonoa dtp demo so much one year visiting our grandparents house that my gran'dad went out and got it for him to play, this was before we had a PlayStation as my gran'dad was a gamer in the early to mid 90's so that Christmas they got us a ps1. i know this is unrelated to video but brought back childhood nostalgia! so thanks for that.
Twisted Metal games always have amazing commercials.

Great vid! I never was a Playstation kid, but I remember playing the first game on a friend's console... and not being a huge fan.
But I want to check out the rest of the series now, the ones on PS2 and 3 in particular. You've convinced me, they sound fun.
ive never watched this channel before but im glad i did,
i never realised jeremy clarkson looked so young
my favorite was and is still 3. the cars were harder to maintain control of because they used something closer to racing game physics. i actually got fairly good at it because i used cheat codes during practice to give me infinite energy for turbo and skill weapons such as napalm, jump, the minion missile salvo and others. and infinite special weapons. using turbo as your default gas button does wonders for learning car control.
I love this IP. Twisted Metal 2, Twisted Metal 4, Small Brawl(didn't play as much), I think i stopped playing after that. I loved Rogue Trip and Vigilante 8: Second Offense also.
Love me some Twisted Metal. I got World Tour before I actually owned a PS1. Had played it over a friend's house and my mum had said she'd got me a PS1 for my birthday and cos I couldn't wait I went out and got Twisted metal World Tour ready to play on it when it arrived. Spent a lot of time around friends and relatives houses playing it on their Playstations for a few weeks. That game is still insanely playable. I do love me some Black and the PS3 game though. Both have a load of good points top to them and it's likely just nostalgia for World Tour keeping me from rating them higher.
I remember being 5 years old, sick as a dog, throwing up into a waste basket without looking away from twisted metal 2. That's how good 2 is.
Thank you for this! This is my first time playing the series (emulating all the ps1 releases through retro pie) I really like it so far!

Alien Magnet by Ghoulspoon. The 989 era introduced me to them, Rob Zombie, Cypress Hill, One Minute Silence, Cirrus and others I would probably have never heard otherwise
the song 'Chaos' is very underrated.
lol at Boogie's theme playing.
I see you guys already know where the most fun is in Vigilante 8!
I grew up in the states. I remember advertisements for Twisted Metal. I remember playing it at the local Hills(old department store like walmart without the groceries), on their display back in the electronics section, but back then I had no idea what the game truly was. My brother and I just picked "the motorcycle guy" and "the big truck." I never really played the first one outside of that until much later.
However, one time, over the summer, my older brother's friend spent like a week at our house, and he brought his playstation and Twisted Metal 2. We were instantly hooked and ran out and bought our own playstation and that game as soon as the friend had gone home.
Then whenever Twisted Metal 3 came out, it was no question. We were buying it. What we got was a HUGE disappointment. All the original music was gone. Characters were gone or changed, and it all just felt like it wasn't the same game anymore, like it didn't have the same tone or vision. That game was the final lesson in never purchasing a game without trying it first. I didn't play it long enough, and it was too long ago for me to remember what else I disliked about it, but there were plenty of other things, and it wasn't just me who felt the way I did about it. I never even bothered with 4 at all. And from what I've seen of it, I'm glad I didn't.
Black was almost too dark, but I can't deal with the suddenly reversed steering when driving backwards. in TM2, when you hit right on the d-pad while reversing, the rear of your car goes to the right... just like when you turn your steering wheel right while reversing in your real car. Black reversed that for a reason I couldn't possibly begin to comprehend. And Head-On did the same thing, if I remember correctly. So I never really played those much either. Small Brawl was a neat little throwback to 2, I guess, but I just could never get excited about another Twisted Metal again like the 2nd one.
I love Twisted Metal
U and me both :D

My uncle actually worked for SingleTrac for TM2, Incognito and Eat, Sleep, Play. He did the modeling for some cars in Black, Head-On and PS3(Kamikaze & Crimson Fury iirc). He even helped develop Roguetrip: Vacation 2012 under SingleTrac. He did the 3D modelling for Biohazard. I love that game, it's so goofy and the main menu music is so badass.
When I talked to him about it he said he absolutely hated working on Twisted Metal. He mentioned that he loved designing cars but hated how the story of the games were often dark and grisly. I'm genuinely very proud of him, he's such a fuckin' remarkably talented and witty guy; I admire the shit outta him. I have a couple of pictures hung up in my room that he made, one of a hand sketched Blue Shelby Cobra with racing stripes and another of a graphically designed and VERY detailed and X-ray'd Lamborghini.
Nowadays he develops mobile games.
Edit: 33:25 There he is! He's that chubby bald dude in the back on the left hand side.
Ahhhhh mate , that's awesome
If there's one nitpick I have about Twisted Metal Black, the enemy cars don't build up their acceleration and instead just immediately rocket forward making it difficult at times to make shots, at least for me.
really enjoy these history vids keep it up
6:03 my favourite video game magazine :) VIDEO GAMES (in Germany)
Black is my favorite overall; but Twisted Metal 2 had 1 gameplay aspect that NONE of the others had; the cars had personalities. They each used different tactics; Mr. Slam with his freezing; Outlaw was always the last one you'd kill; etc. If Black had this, it'd be perfection.
In the early days of the PS1, a friend of mine described Twisted Metal (before I had ever seen it) as "Doom, but with cars."
i loved twisted metal black so much as a kid. So many late nights with my brother playing all the different campaigns. the soundtrack too was clappin
