What was your fav GTA Memory?

I'm glad Daniel took time to look at this niche indie series.
OMG YOU HAVE HEARD OF IT TOO!!!
Daniel Ibbertson haha
Daniel Ibbertson your scraping the barrel of obscurity with this one dan mate lol
The early games are pretty obscure now.
munnypantz Yeah. there's lots of these but always a good job. Hoping He'll go back to complete history's of lesser known or popular games.
Like Alex Kidd maybe.
almost an hour long. people really ought to give yo a like just for the ffort alone. But quality is present throughout as well! nice job man
+Shesez thanks so much man. Spes coming from a channel like urs
Great video
My favorite is still San Andreas, but they're pretty much all great. I'm ready for GTA VI. (And Bully 2!)
Check the rest of the complete history series here... goo.gl/JjBIHi
that year old kid should not of had gta4 in the first place. this something i think need to be fixed about the esrb rating stem. store should be asking who the game is being bout fore and person answer with there kid, the work should ask how old the kid is and if the kid is younger then the age rating. then the work should tell them to put the game back and find a game that is age aprit.
Hey Slopes, How about a complete history of manic miner?
At 30:44 you say 2011 instead of 2001; I feel bad for being so picky as the video as a whole is very well made and the amount of information kept me entertained throughout.
noticed and came down just to see if someone commented on it before i was going to
Lord_4000 did the same
Christopher Cooke that startled my brain for a sec lol
That shows what a great documentary this keeping us entertained with knowledge for thirty some minutes and more. This is my favorite history channel.
That GTA 1 soundtrack (joyride) kills me everytime! Fond memories of being only 10 and older cousins, buying the game and being able to play it! GTA 2 was bit meh for me but 3, what a masterpiece. Thankfully my parents were unknown to the level of violence in the game and bought it for me at Xmas, my uncle however got me the same game! I had two copies and was doubly joyful of having both. What an incredible series. Great video Daniel!
+Wrestlelamia ahhhhhh. I love reading stuff like this hahaha i had to get my mum to buy it for me too :P
Let's be real, your parents + uncle got it for you because it is what was recommended by the EB Games employee.
GTA: Vice City is still my favorite game in the series, other than GTA V.
Gabriel Hunt Mine too! I brought my PS2 because of Vice City.
Same here. The soundtrack, man.
San Andreas is my favorite, The ps2 generation of gta games were the best unlike gta4 and gtav.
here too, GTA2, Vice City and GTA5 are my fav
Gabriel Hunt Same here, the music, missions, universe, and especially the voice talents! Michael Madsen in GTA3? Sam Jackson in GTA:SA? Vice City had Burt Freakin' Reynolds!
Seriously man.. as someone who missed everything before N64 and PS1 I love these retrospective because these franchises mean so much to me. Your channel is incredible, sincerely thanks.
I've been binge watching all your videos the last few weeks. I love your content, brother! Thanks for all the entertainment and history lessons.
+dearsomeone you are more than welcome :) thanks for sticking around
Me to can't get enough of SGR ATM!
Great video Dan. I'm well aware of how much time, effort and dedication these documentaries take. I'm sure your coffee expenditure is sky high, but the result is evidently worth it.
+Nostalgia Nerd i actually gained a bit of a cough from this by not sleeping much and drinking bad drinks lol. Nice chilled vid next week me thinks. Thanks for your voice lending skills btw
Daniel Ibbertson anytime my friend... anytime.
Hot coffee? Hee ,hee.
This is an excellent and highly underrated video on GTA. This channel deserves a lot more attention than it gets. Kudos to you Daniel for making these kinds of videos.
Thanks for this, Dan, great work! I appreciate it! This is definitely, by far, my favourite game series of all time. An absurd amount of hours out of my life have been spent playing these games!
+mootbooxle you are more than welcome.my friend
Great vid. You can tell this isn't a US video from the lack of a certain lawyer. Thank you.
Hmmm
Great video, Dan. I wish you mentioned Lazlow when talking about the music and radio stations.
agreed! it isn't really a GTA without Lazlow Jones.
They made him a bitch in gta v
Gotta say the amount of effort you put into these series retrospectives is greatly appreciated keep up the always great work
Great video. Searched for a video on the history of GTA and got exactly what I wanted. Subscribed
Vice City is amazing. Needs to be remade.
Crocmaster McGeezax YES! and GTA3 as well.
Lets hope GTA6 will go back to Vice City
You can say GTA 4 was essentially a remake of 3 with a different story. Same place and all.
+TalesOfWar: I played GTA 4, but I didn't enjoy playing it as much as playing GTA 3, Claude has more character than Niko for me, and Claude doesn't speak...hehe
@ TalesOfWar - That wouldn't make it a remake then.
I used to appreciate riding the train on the PC version of the original and was disappointed it wasn't in the PS1 version haha x
PS1 version was inferior to the mighty PC version.
Agreed x
Well done Slope! Really enjoyed watching that complete history!
Excellent video. Wish more people in youtube made such a detailed and complete work. Respect.
Eh, Liberty City Stories was pretty good. A bit of a disservice to compare it to DLC or mission packs. Fixed plenty of issues with the originals, added features and fleshed out some of the side characters. Tony was a more entertaining protagonist than the silent one from GTAIII.
It also became a coveted PSP UMD because the first release allowed an exploit that let PSP owners run unsigned code (read: homebrew apps, """""backups"""" of games, downgrading of firmware, etc.)
Nice video by the way. I never made the connection between the originals and the Driver franchise back then.
John Doe Yup. Liberty City Stories > Hands down, best story of the 3D Era.
SA is just weak in comparison, it's just the MASSIVE features (That most people don't like or don't care about anyways...) what makes it stand out from the others.
VC: Have you seen Scarface? You've played VC then.
VCS: Feels like a rushed afterthought that barely connects to VC.
The Ballad of Gay Tony was fucking AMAZING. Still one of my favourite GTA storylines.
Tony Is Gay! (Insert Laughing Audience Here)
30:45 Do you mean 2001 pal? ;-) Loving these brief histories since I stumbled across them a few weeks back. Keep em coming!
+Dave Cork woooopsy
Amazing video full of good info charm and clearly very well researched Hope you do more complete histories of other franchises
dude! I am sharing this on my social media! thanks fro making this video, even theres tons of other gta series history video, yours are one of the best, I never knew the the first ever gta campaign used negatif coverage, I learn something new again!
54 minutes long, be still my beating heart. This going to be good.
Minutes = the same amount of hours I spent on this beast!!!
*high5* Great video and always appreciate the work put in. I am surprised there was not a single ad.
That was pretty much my reaction: Holy damn, Slope! An hour-long video?? Anyway, fantastic work! I love me some Slope's Complete Histories; thank you! You and Larry are by far, and I mean WAY far, my most revisited RUclipsrs!
I don't suppose you have a Saints Row CH on the books?
✋ thanks mate. 54 minutes felt more like ten. Loved it all. Only slight improvement could maybe be to briefly touch on the 1st person mode in GTA 5
I never understand why people post comments before actually watching the video.
Wow.....This is gonna be a great video *grabs popcorn*
You deserve way more subs. Quality content, top-notch production.
This was awesome, Dan! Really interesting. Didn't know about how the engine for the first game came about, that's crazy! Can tell this took a lot of time. Really enjoyed it.
AND DOUBLE PARKING!
Ashens voice is far to posh for the news of the world
+Darren's Toy channel hahahaha
Stewie: Hey Fatass! I Got News For Ya, Da News Of Da Wurld! (Shows Queen Album Cover To Person)
@Slope’s Game Room really loving your videos, subbed.
Thanks for an awesome episode, GTA is one of my favourite gaming franchises and your video covered the history very well.
have you by chance done one of these for the max Payne series?
+neevsmazda07 i have not. Parhaps in the future i will
Awesome thanks can't wait :)
Daniel Ibbertson please do!
any chance of doing the history of NiGHTS?
I second this!
+Demon Dethchase this will defo happen. No doubt before the year is out
Daniel Ibbertson excellent, I'll be looking forward to it. You know I was going to say throw Burning Rangers in there as well with that video, as to make it a double for Sonic Teams' Saturn games, but then I remembered the Wii NiGHTS game. I've never played it but I would like to check it out at some point
That was a great Complete History video Daniel. Top notch work.
+BlackFlame450 thanks matey
Awesome video series, very interesting and in depth, also with an element of nostalgia to it that doesn't beat you over the head. I would really like to see a complete history of tekken one day
Liked before watching.
Liked before reading :D
Haha I did it too. My evening was made when the notification popped up!
Harley Quinn, sorry, had to give a thumbs down to your comment because of what your namesake stands for.
how could you say that?? harley quinn is an insane mass murderer!!! or are you just one of these people that like her look but dont know squat about the actual character
liked and commented before viewing for the youtube algorithm
Great vid!
At 11:16, I would take out Doom and replace it with Wolfenstein 3-D. That what truly solidify the pantheon of historical games!
=-)
DeadStick Rhodes Doom was more influential than Wolfenstein 3D. Fuck off with that bullshit.
@Tom Ffrench I get it, Doom is the Terminator 2 to Wolfenstein's Terminator 1. It is better in every way.
However, Wolfenstein still gets my vote, most people saw nothing quite like it when it came out.
I've only just discovered your channel. Quality content man.
✋ just found your channel last night and so far, I bloody love everything about it!
Will Pac Man's complete history be 2 hours in length?? plz!!
You mentioned the DOS game, but you should of used and mentioned the original DOS artwork box. You just added the later CD-ROM - PS1 like artwork
Also forgot to mention the other DMA games that inspired GTA. Other than body harvest there was Space Station Silicon Valley
Hipster Black Metal should *have, you dumb fuck.
Yet another stellar series history. How does this channel only have 35k subs? I enjoy your videos far more than the dryer than dirt presentation of "the gaming historian"
Awesome job, Daniel! Thanks for this amazing journey :)
Cheers!
Funnily enough, I think Grand Theft Auto 2 is the best game in the series. I loved the gang respect system in that one too.
I personally can't get my head around it.
Robert James Slessor “And remember respect is everything!”
dude, San Andreas is clearly Las Angeles, not San Francisco.
San Andreas is a state consists of three metropolitan cities Los Santos, based on Los Angeles; San Fierro, based on San Francisco and Las Venturas, based on Las Vegas.
From Wikipedia:
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas takes place in 1992 within the state of San Andreas, which is based on sections of California and Nevada. It comprises three major fictional cities: Los Santos corresponds to Los Angeles, San Fierro corresponds to San Francisco, and Las Venturas corresponds to Las Vegas.
San Andreas in GTA 1 is based on Los Angeles. It didn't become a state until years later - it was originally just LA.
It's Los Angeles San Francisco and Las Vegas
San Andreas represents the west coast as a whole, seeing as it has Los Venturas which is Las Vegas
Great video. You made me remember that time when I played GTA for the first time. That was downloading a illegal copy of GTA III when I was 12, because my laptop was crap. The Complete History Of... series is absolutely fantastic to binge when ever I'm bored. Thanks dude.
Excellent video, man. Enjoyed it very much! :D
+Dixie Pixie thanks bud
to me gtaiv is the most boring of the 3d series, the game focus too much on the "cousin loving" for my taste, and having nothing to use the money on, made the game feel, too basic for me.
_GTA IV_ is part of the HD Era, not 3D.
gta v was the best by far I think
Between yourself and Kim Justice, it's great to get these series reviews, from this side of the Atlantic. Great stuff fella!
Very thorough. I always enjoy a good slope's doc.
+Wardner213 ahhhhhh thanks matey
Amazing episode, it was a blast to see all the GTAs lined up since I played most of them growing up aside from the "Stories" and "San Andres" which I only played like once or twice. Great job Slopes!
+Cooliex1986 cheers buddy
Your best video yet, Dan. Superb work!
+DatRyanTho ahhhhhhhhh why thank you
Awesome man. I am subscribed to the channel and binging the hell out these complete history vids!👊💥✌
So happy to read this :) glad you like. Thanks for the sub
This feels even better than a one-hour documentary you see on History or Nat Geo.
+Edgar González ahhhhh thanks dude
This is without a doubt the most comprehensive video you have done to date. Extremely well done.
I've only really had a passing interest in the GTA franchise up til now. But after wstching this I just might pick up GTA5 and give it a go. Thanks for your hard work and I look forward to more content from you!
+samurizzy gta5 is a defo play imo
Brilliant video, well done mate!
Bloody great dude, I really love the way you write and edit this videos! keep it on and cheers! You've really exceeded yourself this time every minute!
+kiarov gonna have to do a smaller ine nect time me thinks
That's what I get for writing youtube comments drunk hahahahaha. But seriously great job dude.
Woah awesome job Slopes on such a long and well edited video mate. Watched it all the way to the end and dang you got so much in that time. Stuff the high five, high ten instead :D
+Omegamario17 woooo double high 5 :) thanks mate. Very proud of this ep
What a fantastic video from start to finish. Thank you so much.
More than welcome. Its eadily one of my favs
i want you know im thoroughly enjoying this series mate.thanks for the videos
+daniel hulson cheers buddy :) sl glad u enjoying em
I was going to watch it later but it's Easter and I had nothing to do. This was a great complete history Daniel. Thanks for all the hard work and effort you put into these videos.
+Detective Lizard more than welcome, love doing these vids
I remember playing GTA 2 on playstation when I was 14. My friend introduced me to the PC version with the multiplayer. I love that game, easily my favorite.
Your videos always brighten my day, keep up the good work!!
+Randy Shibai ahhhhhh thanks mate
high five, that was an in-depth, nostalgic and insightful video. thanks dude!
✋great video ,GT3 was my first time playing the series on the PS2 and have been hooked every since.
Great job man. Best wishes to you!
I'm not sure when I stumbled upon you're channel but I have to say I've been enjoying learning the history of the games. It's a huge industry that I don't think enough of use gamers, both causal and hardcore, even know about. Cheers
I have no idea how you don't have 100k plus subs! excellent videos. keep it up mate
+Michael Fitzpatrick thanks so much. Hopefully i will 1 day
I've been subscribed to this channel for quite some time and I've also turned on notifications. Still I have never known about this "The complete history" series until a few months ago... Why have I never seen this before?? There is so much to catch up on.
Love the video mate. Discovered your channel earlier today and have been watching a lot. I just have one question: ever consider one of these "complete history of's" on the semi-obscure Clock Tower Games?
Well done video loved every minute of it :)
Watched the whole video. Awesome as usual bro!
+Michael Sierra huge thanks mate
This was an amazing one my friend. I can't believe it was almost over an hour.
+Julie Riley im actually surprised it was as short as it was
Very well done, Dan.
Being a big fan of GTA, this definitely caught my attention, and it was worth the 50+ minutes. I'm glad you didn't crap over GTA IV like many people do as that's my favourite of the 3D games (GTA2 being the other fave :D )
A fantastic documentary on the phenomenal franchise known as Grand Theft Auto, it's not just a video game, it's an experience, it's a part of our culture and without GTA gaming and life would not be the same. GTA 6 is gonna be mind blowing, i have no idea how they're gonna top GTA 5 but man it's gonna be hard, i feel like GTA 6 is the pinnacle, even though it's not my favourite GTA, can't wait to see what they do next. 54 minutes just flew by, was hooked since i started and didn't feel bored at all, well done dude.
this is by far the best history of gta series ive seen! great work! ;)
+daniel turner ahhhhh thanks dude. Was a serious passion project of mine for sure
wow! first reply from a successful youtuber! do you think your next project could be about the history of gaming PCs or the development of graphics cards over the years? that would be awesome! I find the innovation of graphics power fascinating. thanks! :)
Oh and another excellent video, Mate. :)
Awesome vid about an awesome series. There's just so much to talk about...nearly a full hour, and there's still tons of comments saying "Hey, you didn't mention X"!
High Five Dan you really have outdone yourself this time. good work!
Fabulous video. I'm glad you described Chinatown Wars as a Hidden gem as it's awesome top down (albeit slightly slanted) action. Funnily enough GTA 5 Online have released a top down stunt race - another call back to the DMA days.
Great video again, yes, I did watch the whole thing. Spot on!
+Steve Floyd thanks buddy
Great review man, you are the best
Pumped for this, Thanks Slope!!!
+U Can't Fake the Funk Productions more than welcome, hope u like it
great video dude !!! loved it very much !!!
+Michaels channel for something ahhhhh thanks buddy
Dope vid Mann best hour of enteinment be had in a while
Thanks DJ Slope. That was awesome.
Thanks bro, I enjoyed this one. Even 3 years after you made it :)
Appreciate you checking the older videos
Love these games, from the first one played on a pc in 1998/1999 to GTA 5, completed just three weeks ago on a xbox360. A series that embraced all the computer and consoles I possesed in the last 17 years. Played them all and enjoyed each and everyone. Great games, and great video. Thank you.
p.s I really enjoy your videos, keep going.
Grand Theft Auto, the best series I’ve ever played
(4/14/19)
that must have taken you ages to make dan.. great video one of your best so far.. cheers mate
+Steve Bam thanks bud and yes! I spent a seriously lkng time on it
Great job on the video! Keep it up!
+Cyberwolf1989 thanks mate. I appreciTe it
Love these Complete History series, really worth the watch, even on games I've never played. Id really like to see you do a review similar to the Sky Sports "Premiership Years". Pick a year, say 1998 and review the big games that came out in that year.
this was great thanks for the video I really appreciate your hard work
+arrgee ryan cheers mate :)
This video was fantastic darling :) I own every single game shown here and love the series (Vice City will always be my favourite) x
That was fantastic, and reminds me of why I love the games so much. It's always great to learn more about one of my very favourite game franchises. :D
Nice vid! So much I could say about GTA games, I love all the nods of the head and easter eggs about other things. Oh and the music that takes me right back too!
Anyway, Vice City took alot of inspiration from alot of different films (although most remember Scarface) check out a film called Carlito's Way, very heavy influences from that.
Played GTA and GTA 2 back in the day. GTA 3 was mindblowing. I pre-ordered Vice City which was my 1st pre-order.
I can't believe I just watched the whole thing...
really interesting though great job on it!
I spent many hours growing up flying tanks into parts of the game I didn't unlock yet. 3 was so excellent.
