Not always, there are athletes who are motivated by the need to dominate, and then there are those who don't play just to beat the competition they play to be better than themselves every day. You can find legends who follow each strategy but at the end of the day, it depends on what drives you. It is clear MJ always had a need to dominate and there is nothing wrong with that. Kobe was the type of player that played against himself not against others and that motivation made him one of the most hard-working players in the game, ever.

He is the GOAT no doubt but yeah he was & is kind of an asshole, a lot of anecdtodes that make me dislike him as a person, I have to watch Space Jam to recover that image of cool bloke he displays there, cause man there are a lot of anecdotes out there that make you What the actual fuck . I specially have 2 that make me dislike him as a person the Chamillionaire one of the picture & the bodyguard with the Cinnamon Rolls those 2 show this dude was not only a sociopath but an actual jerk.

I think the best part of all these stories is Mike is never the one who starts the beef, per se
It all starts from someone talking sh!t, or a perceived slight.
When other guys tell Jordan trash talk stories, they also admit someone else started
He's the greatest player who ever played, and could talk trash, anytime, but he doesn't. He just wins.
