It's 2023 and I just bought a 2011 460 l with 100,000 at a very affordable price; it literally floats on air. I've had zero issues, but trust me if it needs anything I will do it because I already love this car.... It's black and it's absolutely beautiful. Trunk is huge, legroom is off the hook in every seat, it is perfect..
Congrats! I test drove one earlier this year for shts and giggles when looking for a truck and fell in love with this car. Everything was perfect for me. Ride quality was superb. I think it’s honestly the best luxury car I could ever imagine myself in. BMW and Mercedes don’t entice me, too expensive of maintenance. Update this in a year and let me know how it’s going! Cheers

Great review! I drive a '14 LS, and it's so smooth and quiet sometimes it's almost an eerie feeling lol. Mine now has 100,000 miles, never had any problems whatsoever. Just do routine maintenance and drive.
The resale value isn’t that good but I guess it’s a good thing. The LS isn’t really a sought after vehicle but be careful buying these used cause they can get really expensive to fix. The oil and coolant leaks plus the suspension components will total this car mechanically if the miles are high

@@rickx86 If I were to get a GS it would be optimally be the post facelift 350 F-Sport, which for me would be great, as awesome as the new (and older) LS models are. Definitely can't go wrong with either imo. Regarding your other comment, the car is quick, it just doesn't feel like your moving quick on the inside cause of how smooth the car is. You don't get that rough or loud feeling for a second of fast acceleration, which it wasn't designed for anyways so that's a good thing.
The mark levinson surround sound system in the older LS models is most likely one of THE best sound systems ive listened to in ANY car and Ive owned a few S class, 7 series bmw etc.
Mark Levinson is junk. Bowers - Wilkins, which was on the big jaguar is one of the finest I have ever heard. Bose also beats ML as does Clarion …you don’t know anything about stereos and I own three Lexus LS so I know. My 430s and 460s all have Mark L and I would never buy another one of them stereos. All broke or had problems

I had the Mark Levision in the LS430 and the Nakamichi in the 400s and the Levinson did sound better. The 460 has the Lexus Premium Sound system its ok but does not sound better than Levinson. Now no shade to Lexus sound systems, but the BMW harmon-kardon sounds way better than all three of Lexus sound systems I have listed above.
Not sure if I just missed it or maybe it wasn’t offered on the 2014, but don’t think you touched on the soft close doors feature. I have a 2016 and have that feature, pretty nice.

Nooooo. One was a 2016, the other one was a newer model but the guy didn’t stop to talk to me like all the others did. The others just couldn’t believe that a large car non-aspirated could run like that.
My '14 LS AWD is pretty bad in the city, like 15 mpg....but on the highway is where that car shines, and what it's made for. 28 - 30 mpg at 70 mph, smooth as silk, and you feel more energized after an hour or two trip than you did getting in the car.
@ubiased23 I might not be much help, but I would assume like all air suspension it would need replacement after the usual 5-7 year mark, depending on driving conditions, etc. Super comfortable though when I drove it!
It is a very nice luxury car, but the 430 is actually better as far as reliability. I’ve owned them both and my 430 just runs and runs and runs and I have two of them. I one 460.
I definitely want to get one if I can find it at the right price with the right miles (says every car shopper ever). I just don't want to get into a maintenance nightmare with a luxury car. Anything (or any years) I need to look out for?

@@md8744 Oh I see, as far as I know, timing chains shouldn't be an issue but I have heard the timing chain tensioner may break/crack if it's made out of plastic which some reps have said. BUT, and that's a big BUTT, I am not a Lexus professional and this is just my opinion, if you have any doubts about purchasing a good quality LS make sure you get it inspected by your mechanic or a Lexus certified mechanic. Hope you find the car your looking for! :)
@@md8744 I think he was asking about that rubber timing belt that came in the LS430's. You had to change those out every 100k miles or it could destroy your engine when it broke. The LS460 comes with a timing "CHAIN". so you won't have that issue to worry about in it.
I studied up on this car before I bought mine. I bought a 2011; I will probably have to replace the control arms at some point, it drives absolutely perfect so I can't tell if anything is even going on right now. But I tell you if it does I will have it fixed ASAP, this car drives so amazing that it would be worth every bit. I am that happy with it.

I would say you'll have to look at upper end suvs like the lexus gx or lx, Mercedes gls, BMW x5 and up maybe an x7, audi q7 and nowadays you have great vehicles like the genesis gv80 or the new mdx. But those are all very expensive vehicles being in the luxury segment, the best bang for your buck will be preowned!
Nothing less from Toyota, the engine is reliable but people, think twice! Run from air-suspension. Each strut costs $1000 and if you hit the jackpot, the height compressor (which I did), that is talking about $3000. If you think 460 is smooth, you got to try 430 to enjoy the experience of "flying on the road". For some reasons, the engine of 460 is a lot louder during idling and wind noise can be very annoying at highway speed. Believe it or not, none of these problems are found in my 430. A facelift 460, or its successor 500 in that matter, only shines due to their aggressive exterior but definitely not build quality or ride comfort. The legend of Lexus LS ends in 2007 (when 460 rolled out).
He is telling the truth I had the 1st, 3rd, and this generation, and out of those 3 the third generation seems to be the best and less costly. The 460 I have already is making creaking sounds going over bumps and about to be ate up in repair for coolant leak into the valley plate. I just sold my 430 to my nephew 8 months ago and the LS400 was in a wreck, both generations hit both over 230,000 miles.
God. I checked my insurance for this monster they told me the number which make me walked away from dealer right away man, almost 600$ more from my gx460 2017. And what about DMV sticker yearly don't know yet? Any one knows how much for 2014 ls460? Thanks

That was a mosquito I had to wack 😂 and there's decent leg room behind the front rows but of course ur not gonna be able to stretch ur legs unless ur sitting in the passenger rear seat. Putting your feet underneath the front seats also is doable but can get tight. But I wouldn't say it's cramped, being 6'1. Unless your taller than sure, maybe for you. Thanks for watching!

Its probably not the worst, but it can get costly. Many common issues like main seal issues with leakage. The suspension is just a wear item and part of the cost of owning a car that feels like its on a cloud. But overall for a large sedan like this its better than S-Class and 7 Series or A8 in terms of comfort, and reliability. Bottom line is it wont happen often (maybe never) but if a $2k repair bill scares you then this isnt the car for you. Go to the Kia lot.

The 2018 is the first model year after redesign. I wouldn’t touch it. Get a 2017 or 2020.

I have two ls 460 2012 and 2015 they get Awesome gas mileage 485 on a tank of gas driving 80 to 85 change the air filter to K&N and get a chip

0 to 60 in 5.5 seconds is plenty fast for me.
I have a 2011 335 and 0-60 id about same 5.5 that is pretty damn respectfully fast especially for a huge sedan like this!
The Mercedes and BMW top models are under 5 seconds so that is slow for a big ass V8 engine when you got 4 and 6 cylinders with those 5.5 times…
It is a very nice luxury car, but the 430 is actually better as far as reliability. I’ve owned them both and my 430 just runs and runs and runs and I have two of them. I one 460.
My only sticking point is the city MPG if they could have squeezed another 2 MPG out of I I'd be sold since I do mostly city driving
