I absolutely disagree. Displaying crank or brake horsepower from a dyno makes worse sense. You're using the dyno to assume the drivetrain loss which varies greatly in-between vehicles. I would MUCH rather have a pure horsepower rating at the wheels and not have the dyno calculate what it thinks it makes at the crank.
@@VancityAudi we don't assume drive train loss. We measure it. But never mind. But I will use your intro to future explain why whp is just pure stupidity when we have proper dynos that do all the math so you can have dynos all over the world and have consistente values to compare. Sadly this is a American trend difficult to escape.
@@MrArt69 So a chassis dyno that reads horsepower at the crank knows exactly how much drivetrain loss there is, no matter what vehicle is on the dyno? I genuinely don't know. We have no dynos local to me that read crank or brake horsepower. And to clarify... I'm not American.
@@VancityAudi first of all, because letters don't pass intention, I'm have nothing against you and none of this is been said in a bad matter 😉 but let me explain, our dynos here in Europe the ones I work with have a meteo station that reads temps, air pressure etc to use in the dyno runs calculated power. We dyno the same way but when the car gets to end of rpm we de clutch go to neutral and allow the dyno in the declaration fase to read the losses. Then all adds up to calculated crank power that is far more precise then all the different whp from different dynos as you very good explained. I have a 2019 A3 FWD and would love to get it tuned stage 1. Do you have a recommendations for a tuning software company. It’s been impossible for me to find a good tune for it.
They were not, no. I only asked the relevant companies in today's market. GIAC hasn't been talked about in the Mk8 community once since I became a part of it last year.
@@VancityAudi Haha it's really interesting that they ended up with the exact same power levels and power curve then. Will you share any of those other parameters or at least at a high level? Not asking for a tune sniff, but it would help for tune selection to know who's running richer, or with more timing advance.
He requested to keep the Cobb AP after the test (in the name of keeping the test equal since he was keeping the hardware from other companies) and EQT wanted it returned (bc the Cobb AP is much more expensive than the UniConnect cable, for example). The two parties couldn’t get past that disagreement. It sucks, but I’m sure they’ll be able to work something out when (and if) this video is remade after the xx401 is cracked and the full torque files can be tested.
I guess it depends on how you understand the way I described it. Crank/Brake horsepower estimates your drivetrain loss where as Wheel horsepower doesn't include it.
LOL, thank you for correcting my choice of words. With that said, it makes no difference to the general public that are learning what they can from this video.
@@VancityAudiHopefully, they would learn that the hp variance between the dyno results occurs mostly from a mathematical computation and it isn’t a true measured difference. I’m ignoring tires, tire pressure, and like way down in the weeds stuff.
@@BrodeyDoverosx You're giving WAY too much credit to the general population that watches my videos, lol. Layman's terms are best. Once you get too detailed you lose people and what you're suggesting would absolutely lose people, haha.
Yes, seriously. With as much ignorance as I've seen in the Mk8 community, I wanted to provide as much detailed information as I could. That way, not only am I showing people what the software I tested can do, I'm also educating those that are new to understanding cars.
The only way to make such a drastic increase in power vs the other tunes is to either run more boost or more timing. There is no magic to be found in these motors. Considering we are talking UM here and having seen plenty of logs of their tunes it can be readily inferred that they cranked up the timing and numbed the sensors so it wouldn't knock. Same old UM, nothing has changed. They don't care about your motor or turbo. I feel bad for people who watch this and think "Yeah, I'll go with UM."
Sounds more like you've had a bad experience using UM than actually speaking the truth of what I experienced on my car. I reviewed the logs of every single tune I used. What you're saying is not the case.
@@wesleykuntz4222 There's a 30ft lb spread at 4500rpm compared to the other two tuners. You think they found that in some cam timing or some shit? Yeah, ok.

Sorry to call you American, but this logic comes from Americans.
@@MrArt69 Hard to not read an ill intent when your first sentence was "I love you just explained why whp is just dumb AF!" LOL. I was genuinely curious how it worked because I have never researched it or experienced it, and was lead to believe that the way those dyno's calculate drivetrain loss is not very accurate. Apology accepted, haha. I'm very proud to be Canadian.
That’s the legit power from apr tune low torque?
Why would it be anything else?
@@VancityAudi i just tuned mine today mk8 gti with apr stage 1 low torque because of your video..😂👍👍 i love it the top end power from apr tune is very strong 💪
@@vebalasvegas31well hopefully you used my link to purchase it! Enjoy!
@@VancityAudi Hi from Las Vegas 👍👍
Where do I find a UM flash tool online in Canada?
Gonna take a wild stab in the dark here, but I'm betting if you go to their website and look under dealers, you'll find a bunch of them in Canada.
United Motorsport has always been the GOAT VAG/Audi tuner.
And yet when I drove the car as a daily with their software it was the LEAST enjoyable to drive. I covered that all in this video: ruclips.net/video/z7iRIeB2rc8/видео.htmlsi=NYKIy5FRO3anwzmX
Do you flash UM tune at home like Uni and 034?
You sure do
I have a 2019 A3 FWD and would love to get it tuned stage 1. Do you have a recommendations for a tuning software company. It’s been impossible for me to find a good tune for it.
I don't think you've looked very hard then, haha. There should be plenty! Unitronic, Integrated Engineering, APR, 034 Motorsport.....
@@VancityAudi yeah I tried them. I have the 2.0 TFSI which forever reason is different from TSI. I called all major brand companies with no luck.
@RichsRantMMAofficialchannel son of a..... Sorry to hear that! Time to upgrade the car apparently!
@@VancityAudi right, thanks for the advice.
@@RichsRantMMAofficialchannelstratified auto?
Was GIAC asked to participate?
They were not, no. I only asked the relevant companies in today's market. GIAC hasn't been talked about in the Mk8 community once since I became a part of it last year.
Did you not take AFR or was that part of the deal with tuning companies?
I covered that in the Disclaimers
United Motorsports 💪!!
Are we gonna talk about the fact that APR and 034 appear to be running the exact same calibration...
😂 I can assure you that by looking at the logs, they're not. They just deliver power in a similar way.
@@VancityAudidifferent boost and timing?
@@molsen1029pretty much everything, lol. Fueling, lambda, timing, boost, you name it.
@@VancityAudi Haha it's really interesting that they ended up with the exact same power levels and power curve then. Will you share any of those other parameters or at least at a high level? Not asking for a tune sniff, but it would help for tune selection to know who's running richer, or with more timing advance.
@@molsen1029I covered that in the Disclaimers
I thought this was tommyFyeah! 😂😂😂
I just looked him up because I had no idea who he was. I'm better looking than him, come on!!! 🤣
This video was funded by United Motorsport :)
This video was solely funded by my broke ass.
No @Equilibrium Tuning? C'mon man...!
Not my fault! I tried! Read the pinned comment and then watch this: ruclips.net/video/gSJ000a3EOI/видео.html
@dylandunlop2644 these videos will not be remade once the 401 bootloader is cracked.
I thought wheel hp would take into consideration the drivetrain loss. Did you get them mixed up in the video?
I guess it depends on how you understand the way I described it. Crank/Brake horsepower estimates your drivetrain loss where as Wheel horsepower doesn't include it.
Integrated engineering is sleeping on the MK8 apparently.
They haven't brought anything to market yet, which is sad because I would have absolutely loved to test out their software.
Dynos don’t READ crank/wheel/brake horsepower. They MEASURE force (torque) and they CALCULATE horsepower.
Seriously? 1/3rd of the video for disclaimers? Geeses
@@VancityAudi he's just a troll.
How's 10 to 15hp a drastic increase 🤔. That's like 1 to 2psi of boost and 1 degree of timing lol.
@@wesleykuntz4222 There's a 30ft lb spread at 4500rpm compared to the other two tuners. You think they found that in some cam timing or some shit? Yeah, ok.
@@VancityAudi Reviewing logs isn't the same as tuning. I've tuned quite a few EA888s. These cars really don't like a ton of low end timing on low/no ethanol pump gas. Considering all the tunes you just dyno'd the UM results should have you questioning, not praising.
