Thank you for all the insight on these sim racing peripherals, they've been really helpful! I've never gotten into sim racing before and I just picked up one of these wheels with pedals and a cheap wheel stand for 64 bucks shipped. This will be my first time into driving wheels and didn't want to spend a ton, so found it secondhand. My other option was a DFGT for 40 bucks but I figured the belt/gear hybrid system would be better due to the lack of deadzone and slightly quieter. It only has the basic cheapo 2-pedal set but I'll probably try to do some sort of rubber pad/brake mod for the time being until I can find a cheap set of T3PA's used too. I've seen a number of arduino DIY USB conversions so I'll probably try to find a Logitech Driving Force shifter and convert it to USB since the TH8A is way out of my price range right now.
If It's your first time diving into sim racing, you're doing it the right way and finding bargains to keep it cheap. The weakest performance element of the setup is the 2 pedal, pedal set, so definitely you'll want to upgrade the pedals when you can.
quite refreshing to see a review that points out the flaws as much as the pro's with these entry level wheels. ive been spoilt on sim racing hardware for a while, using direct drive motors for a few years now currently own a simucube 2 pro... i purchased a thrustmaster T150 for my 6 year old just to quite frankly keep him away from my gear which as we know isn't to be messed with by kids and you know... my first impression of the T150 was it is absolutely disgustingly horrible, from the point you take it out of the box it feels like you rescued it from a few years at the bottom of the sea, full of wet sand, i couldn't think of anything worse to play a game with but when i see my kid having fun and not even thinking twice about how it works im reminded what these products are for, they are a fun entry into simulating racing and most of us have to appreciate what these do for our community. We are surely now at a point however where higher end hardware needs to trickle its way down the stack, belts need to be standard entry level bringing with it increased smoothness and immersion and direct drives need to be made affordable, thankfully it is looking like those steps are slowly being made.
Thanks for the feedback. I've built up some useful experience reviewing other driving wheels and indeed I also have a DD setup so all this knowledge helps with detailed breakdowns like this.
g29/920: fancier, both hardware and software. tmx pro: no goddamn dead zones (the wheel doesnt have a play in small rotations and FFB is more accurate)
Good idea, i will try. That’s my only cons of the tmx pro, the thickness and grip feeling could be improve. But overall it is a good wheel and pedal set (tmx pro)
great Vid! In our household we play F1 2021 on our Xbox Series X. We nou have a Thrustmaster 458 Ferrari (non FB) and enjoy the hell out of this. I was wondering about a FB wheel and watched a lot of videos of the G920 and the Thrustmaster TMX. After seeing this video I just ordered a Thrustmaster TMX (FB). I think Max Verstappen and Hamilton should watch out for us now! 😅
finaly a review that i am looking foor, i was sold my g27 cose that ffb dead zone, planing to buy a TX, BUT every video talk about smoothness(wich i have no doubt), but no1 speak about dead zone and precision, GG best review
my first steering wheel experience comically was in actual car (in driving school). and already then i was sick of loose wheel i.e. dead zones. when i decided to try sim racing, i was sure what i dont want to see in gaming wheel which led me to belt drive and finally TMX Pro.
TMX (NOT pro) owner here. I have to agree with this review on virtually all points outside of the pedals, since I don't have them, though I really wished I picked them up. The TMX is a good plug-and-play wheel that will work with pretty much any PC/Xbox game I've used. However, as I find myself in the same situation, it is a stepping stone. Pick up the TMX if you feel you might be interested in sim racing. Pick up a better rig if you find you are interested in sim racing after some use. Truly a simple wheel in both operation as well as "should I or should I not" verdict.
Awesome review! I'm tossing up between this and the TX if I can justify the price. But this still sounds like a solid wheel to get back in to as I've been using a controller for the past 8 years.
Thank you for the honest review. Very detailed, and helpful for a new Sim racer like my self who still is using a controller. One question, how does this wheel work in games like F1 2021 as I will be mostly playing that game my self.
Hey, I'm thinking about buying my first racing wheel and was wondering which one you would recommend between the g29/920 and the tmx/t150 pro? Or even another one if you think there is a better option :) Great review by the way :D
The G29/920 force feedback can produce a rattle noise and there is a force feedback centre deadzone. So I do prefer the TMX Pro for this reason. However I would say the Logitech wheels have better build quality and is likely to last longer over the years.
I have it and it is very good. No mods. The only minor cons would be the thickness and plastic feel of the rim. I think i should try fingerless cycling gloves. I used it only on Assetto Corsa, waiting for Ac2 in 2024. Overall very happy with the tmx pro. It feels solid. I bought it for the speed shifter metal and pedal and belt driving. Solid package for a good price.
I wish gaming companies took into consideration, paraplegics love playing racing games too. Would love to buy a decent steering wheel that allows me to re-map the gas pedal and brake buttons. 😓😓 Car manufacturer's speaking to use well. 😂
Hi! I'm really late to your comment, but I'd take a look at the fanatec ecosystem, specifically the mclaren gt3 rim. It has paddle shifters, as well as two analog paddles that you could use for gas and brake.
Thanks Vincent. I started the channel with a webcam and cheap microphone, things have been upgraded over time since then, but we all have to start somewhere. Good luck with it!👍
elite pedals for $120 with a stand ..and then thrustmaster tmx pro and includes seat and mounting rig for $300 ... I've heard just the csr elite pedals alone are worth it because they are load cell based and can be used with any setup
It's worth mentioning that there is a 3D printed hub adapter available for the TMX that will allow you to quick release any time your like, and you'll get the best experience with this wheel if you decrease all dampening affects and increase all detail effects to maximize the dynamic quality of the force feedback. Dual belt design is great for smoothness but not great for fine detailed FX.
I'm looking to buy my first steering wheel, but I would like an E-brake and stick shift rather than paddle shifters. Any advice on what to look at or should I just get a more mainstream entry wheel like the TMX pro here?
Both the g20 and the tmx (2 pedals not three) are the exact same price in my country, I plan to use it solely for f1 2021/2022. In that case, which would you prefer?
how would you say this compares to the G923? I could get the TMX pro + th8a OR the g923+shift for the same price, which would be better for a more realistic sim setup? (Drifting included)
I would give the G923 the advantage, the wheel rotates smoothly with little friction than the TMX which you'll appreciate for drifting. This also improves the feel and delivery of the force feedback. Overall build quality is also better with the Logitech wheel.
Hi, i'm gonna buy my first weel with peddal and i don't know if buy TMX Pro or Thrustmaster TX Racing wheel edition. If u can help me pls. Sorry my english, i'm from Spain! Good video
I saw this in my reccomend literally a day after I bought my TMX so the first thing I thought was "Do I watch it and figure out if I bought a shitty wheel or do I just enjoy the ignorant bliss?"
I am currently debating on which racing wheel to get the logitech g920, g923 or the tmx pro which would you recommend. One thing really want is strong force feedback. I am only 11 btw and would only really use them on f1 2021 and ac
If your budget stretches to the G923, then I would say spend a bit more and go with the Thrustmaster T300 or TX. Or look on eBay or other second hand classified ad to save some money.
Im using an old Logitech Momo at this moment, do you believe it's worth to upgrade to this wheel or upgrade to a T300? Im just casually playing sim racing games like assetto corsa. Im really limited to F1 mods at this moment due to the 270 degrees of the Momo.
The T300 is a nice bump up in strength and ffb detail over the TMX. Another one to consider is a second hand Logitech Driving Force GT. They are usually cheap on eBay and will give you 900 degrees of rotation, and also a decent upgrade over the MOMO. ruclips.net/video/eqRJ4aSxhx8/видео.html
So when I was like 15 I got the Thrustmaster 458 wheel as a gift. It doesn't have force feedback so I wanna upgrade. I'm not sure whether I wanna buy the TMX or the G920. My friend has the g920 but I don't really like how the shifter feels. I wish you could just go to the microsoft store and try these wheels out before buying 🤦♂️ I have no idea what I should get
Yeah I got this off of mecari for $80 and it is really great i love sim racing but I'm not going to be spending $300/$400 for a wheel my whole setup is $180 with handbrake and a push pull shifter

Anybody having wheel alignment issues with Xbox and this wheel combo? Just curious. Fanatec seems to be having delivery issues at the moment what are some other options currently available?
Hey, i dont know if you will see this but my g29 is probably gonna break soon and i dont know what wheel to buy, do you reccomend the tmx pro or is that a downgrade from the g29
Consider it a sidegrade. Similar FFB power, but no center dead zone and no rattle, plastic wheel isn't as nice as the G29, clamp isn't as secure. Basically pro's an cons for both.
Will it be stable if I mount it to a desk whose front edge isn't 100% parallel to the wall behind the desk (My goal is to mount the wheel so that it's perpendicular to the wall behind the desk.)? I would say it's roughly ten degrees off. It's hard to explain but if I mounted the wheel perpendicular to the table, then the pedals would be at an angle if I press them against the wall, which would be weird. I guess another way to ask this question, do the pedals stick to the ground or do they move? I hope you understand what I mean, lol. Edit: I'm going to use it with VR anyway, so it doesn't matter whether it's right in front of the monitor. If the pedals stick to the ground, then it doesn't have to be set up perpendicular to the wall.
As the owner of one too, I can say that it might not be ideal, but it's definitely usable (hey, even manage to usually survive group dirt rally 2 so it can't be that bad)
This is the best ffb wheel in this price point. Could be good enought on the beggining as long you stay on stock parts. Some of people install custom rims on tmx/t150 and immersion or motor slowly dies 😅
@@A4DXZ you can install custom rim but if its heavier than oryginal one and have bigger offset you lost some detail or immersion. You can have also ffb drops and your motor can die sometimes.
@@MR.EVERLOST this may sound dumb but is it possible to use a real steering wheel for example a bmw steering instead of the plastic wheel and also if so is it possible on the g920 too?
@@A4DXZ There are minimum 3 things that affect your motor. It is 1. steering wheel weight (in total: rim + buttons + QR + screws), 2. steering wheel diameter and 3. steering wheel offset (how far your rim is from the base). If your wheel is too heavy for your motor it affect ffb. If the offset of the steering wheel is too big, the shaft will be overloaded causing faster damage of the base and of course it will affect ffb. And finally, the larger rim diameter also has a negative effect on the base. Entry level products like Logitech or TM 150/TMX has ~ 2.2Nm power. Next T300/TX has ~ 4Nm. TSPC/TGT/TGT2/TSXW has ~ 6Nm, CSL 2.5 has ~ 7Nm, CSL DD 8Nm (with boost kit), Simagic Alpha mini 10Nm, Simagic Aplha 15Nm, VRS 20Nm. Simply put, more power = more possibilities without losing details. Read about „clipping”. I had TMX and TX and when I was playing on this 3.9Nm base with stock Sparco rim (1.2kg, 32cm diameter and minimum offset) it works quite good but ffb on 28cm Italia wheel feels definetley better. After that I did custom Porsche rim with total weight 1.4kg and than I discovered that I need something stronger because wheel loose detail and responiveness. Probably for 6Nm base it would be fine. Remember that there are people who mount heavy wheels to entry lvl bases and say it's ok. A lot depends on individual preferences, but you can't fool the physics. Especially drifting tires the motor the most.
@@MR.EVERLOST Thanks for helping me i probably wont put a steering wheel in as i most likely will have to keep tmx biggest upgrade will probs be g920 if im lucky
Plastic wheel rim assembly and pedals compared to the G29 at the same price. Im going with the G29, the T300 looks awesome but cost too much with the H pattern shifter for me.
@@kangarookicker6995 I think i'll be plenty happy with a G29. I run in many top split races in Iracing with a BROKEN DFGT. I put my money towards IRL drifting, not a sim setup.
I saw this wheel in my local CEX for £180 and was looking for a wheel to play some racing games and Euro Truck Simulator, do you think that this wheel could be good to start with on that.
Moving up to a mid-range wheel such as the T300 does make a good difference to the force feedback. If you can afford a more expensive wheel and will be using it a lot then it's worth skipping entry-level wheels and getting something better.
I’ve had this wheel for about 2 years (I brought better pedals) the wheel is great but mine suddenly broke. It won’t calibrate properly and the wheel get worse as you play. I’m having an issue with mine on Xbox one can someone help? It works perfectly fine in F122 menu’s, I select the wheel on configuration but it detects nothing I press during races or time trials, i haven’t got a clue what to do
Is it normal if the TMX feels like a ball bearing, I have that and so it doesn't really run smoothly (as the tests say) and I find it quite noisy even when it's off. Do you have these same things?
A friend has just been given a set of these but is running a 32 bit pc with xp (yes i know) and cant find the drivers for it , any ideas would be gratefully received.
Logitech makes the better entry level wheels for sure.. I’ll tell you from experience. I’ve had two of these TMX’s and both have had internal parts break and early failure on both, and I take care of my wheels and don’t have force feedback on high setting. Poor quality for the money, Logitech is very reliable.
I'll have to disagree on that one I've tried few different Logitech ones and they've all felt very cheap and low quality (even the G923), where as the T150PRO I've been using for the past 6 months feels great and has had no issues of any sort.
@@mistahcahawking Yeah they may feel cheap but they last I can assure you. 6 months is not a long time, wait until the internal belt snaps in the thrustmaster, they don’t use quality parts on the inside.

i have owned the TMX pro set for 3 years now . i play everything from assetto corsa forza F1 to snowrunner with it AND I LOVE IT !!! , some games do require playing with the settings
do you use it for xbox series x?
Hey im in 2024 im thinking about getting a tmx and i have a g920 juts tryna get some info so i watched this video so this really helped me! Thanks bro
g29/920: fancier, both hardware and software. tmx pro: no goddamn dead zones (the wheel doesnt have a play in small rotations and FFB is more accurate)
I have some old fingerless cycling gloves which work really well to avoid noticing the cheap feeling of the wheel.
Awesome, for your first force feedback wheel, I'm sure you're going to love it.
Hi. Do you face any issues with thrustmaster 458 in F1 as it only offers 270° rotation? Sadly G920 and TMX are not available in my country.
finaly a review that i am looking foor, i was sold my g27 cose that ffb dead zone, planing to buy a TX, BUT every video talk about smoothness(wich i have no doubt), but no1 speak about dead zone and precision, GG best review
my first steering wheel experience comically was in actual car (in driving school). and already then i was sick of loose wheel i.e. dead zones. when i decided to try sim racing, i was sure what i dont want to see in gaming wheel which led me to belt drive and finally TMX Pro.
10:07 Wreckfest. Exactly the game i am getting a wheel for 😄
TMX (NOT pro) owner here.
It is compatible with the F1 2021 and everything else out there too.
At 15:41 when he just casually dumps that McLaren and proceeds on like nothing happened had me rolling
excellent review-very imformational and well-informed
Thank you kindly!
Hey, I'm thinking about buying my first racing wheel and was wondering which one you would recommend between the g29/920 and the tmx/t150 pro? Or even another one if you think there is a better option :)
Great review by the way :D
The G29/920 force feedback can produce a rattle noise and there is a force feedback centre deadzone. So I do prefer the TMX Pro for this reason. However I would say the Logitech wheels have better build quality and is likely to last longer over the years.
thanks for the quality review, grabbing one next week
Hope you enjoy it!
for series x?
@@merijns7289 ended up with a t150, I'm on PC not sure
I have it and it is very good. No mods. The only minor cons would be the thickness and plastic feel of the rim. I think i should try fingerless cycling gloves. I used it only on Assetto Corsa, waiting for Ac2 in 2024. Overall very happy with the tmx pro. It feels solid. I bought it for the speed shifter metal and pedal and belt driving. Solid package for a good price.
great in depth review!
Much appreciated!
thank you for this very thoughtful review!
You are so welcome!
I wish gaming companies took into consideration, paraplegics love playing racing games too. Would love to buy a decent steering wheel that allows me to re-map the gas pedal and brake buttons. 😓😓 Car manufacturer's speaking to use well. 😂
you can with this one ,like A for gas and B for brake ... as long as game supports key mapping :)
Hi! I'm really late to your comment, but I'd take a look at the fanatec ecosystem, specifically the mclaren gt3 rim. It has paddle shifters, as well as two analog paddles that you could use for gas and brake.
One of the few purchases in my lifetime that has been worth every penny.
for $240 with 900 degrees and force feedback, thats impressive
Very good review thanks for your time and effort.
Great review! Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Great set up! I wanna make videos like this too but can't afford the equipment atm
Thanks Vincent. I started the channel with a webcam and cheap microphone, things have been upgraded over time since then, but we all have to start somewhere. Good luck with it!👍
The clamp is actually very sturdy and can be cranked down really hard.
elite pedals for $120 with a stand ..and then thrustmaster tmx pro and includes seat and mounting rig for $300 ... I've heard just the csr elite pedals alone are worth it because they are load cell based and can be used with any setup
Great video sir!
Thank you kindly!
Hey can you help me with this? very interested, I have a 3d printer.

Okay, the 2 pedal set is horrible, really terrible. The Logitech pedals are much better. So G920 would be the better package for the money.
@@SimRacingCorner alright lad, thanks for the quick reply. I figured the tmx would be better since I hear the deadzone on the G20 is noticeable.
Yes, the dead zone is noticeable. It's a thing you get used to, but a negative element for sure.
Did you get bolts for the pedals to screw to a sim cockpit, If so what size?
You have to use your own bolts. Size is M6, I have no idea of the length - I recorded this a very long time ago.
Top hat gaming man is this you hiding from the camera?
No
would you recommend it over the g923 if they were the same price?
No
how would you say this compares to the G923? I could get the TMX pro + th8a OR the g923+shift for the same price, which would be better for a more realistic sim setup? (Drifting included)
I would give the G923 the advantage, the wheel rotates smoothly with little friction than the TMX which you'll appreciate for drifting. This also improves the feel and delivery of the force feedback. Overall build quality is also better with the Logitech wheel.
@@SimRacingCorner is the logitech g29 better to do simracing than the tmx pro? Do they both have a deadzone or noy?
Did you buy the Ricmotech hard mount this year? I haven't seen it pop up all year, and I have a price alert on it.
I'm sure I bought it last year. I've had it quite a while.
Hi, i'm gonna buy my first weel with peddal and i don't know if buy TMX Pro or Thrustmaster TX Racing wheel edition. If u can help me pls. Sorry my english, i'm from Spain!
Good video
If you can stretch your budget go with the TX, the stronger force-feedback and lower friction of the TX is a good improvement over the TMX.
I saw this in my reccomend literally a day after I bought my TMX so the first thing I thought was "Do I watch it and figure out if I bought a shitty wheel or do I just enjoy the ignorant bliss?"
Are you happy you took the red pill?
@@SimRacingCorner Yep I snagged it for $215 so I'm happy considering I bought the last one.
Yo i just got one of these today but the cable inst a usb cable and i cant find out why (second hand)
Basically you're missing the USB section which plugs on the end of the cable.
Planning to get a used one, does it work on windows 11?
Thanks
Great review! Deciding to get either this one of the logitech wheel.
I have a logitech g920 and it’s terrible, when drifting and using it vigourosly the wheel gets misaligned which is so bad
Don’t buy Logitech wheels they are overpriced and you’re better off with a TMX Pro.
@@maxollerenshaw6584 I feel you.
hi i have an important question... TMX PRO or G923? thank you
What's the degree?
I am currently debating on which racing wheel to get the logitech g920, g923 or the tmx pro which would you recommend. One thing really want is strong force feedback. I am only 11 btw and would only really use them on f1 2021 and ac
If your budget stretches to the G923, then I would say spend a bit more and go with the Thrustmaster T300 or TX. Or look on eBay or other second hand classified ad to save some money.
@@SimRacingCorner thanks very much for your advice😁
@@SimRacingCorner Thanks for the tip, just snatched a T300 for 120 euros! That's just a steal. And holy shit what a difference!

Anybody having wheel alignment issues with Xbox and this wheel combo? Just curious. Fanatec seems to be having delivery issues at the moment what are some other options currently available?
Can you switch the steering angle on the fly?
Hey, i dont know if you will see this but my g29 is probably gonna break soon and i dont know what wheel to buy, do you reccomend the tmx pro or is that a downgrade from the g29
Consider it a sidegrade. Similar FFB power, but no center dead zone and no rattle, plastic wheel isn't as nice as the G29, clamp isn't as secure. Basically pro's an cons for both.
@@SimRacingCorner thx
I buy one, came early but im scare that the wheel have a delay??
If you don't use the conical brake mod you'll be fine with the pedals on the floor.
Personally the ffb is too slow for me and makes drifting quite a hassle. If drifting is your thing, might wanna go t300 for faster wheel spin
As the owner of one too, I can say that it might not be ideal, but it's definitely usable (hey, even manage to usually survive group dirt rally 2 so it can't be that bad)
Can i use it on the xbox series s?
4.39 add this in your title very info
Is there a button to change gears or something. Didn’t know this one had a clutch pedal.
This is the best ffb wheel in this price point. Could be good enought on the beggining as long you stay on stock parts. Some of people install custom rims on tmx/t150 and immersion or motor slowly dies 😅
wait so it is better to not install a custom rim?
Im going with the G29, the T300 looks awesome but cost too much with the H pattern shifter for me.
you'll love how noisy and terrible the ffb is on the g29 if you wanna do anything serious. It sucks for counter steering etc.
@@kangarookicker6995 I think i'll be plenty happy with a G29. I run in many top split races in Iracing with a BROKEN DFGT. I put my money towards IRL drifting, not a sim setup.
