Excellent modification! I had problems with the wires pulling out of the heatshrink on my Signature 12.4 and had a bag of black, UV resistant cable ties that I used instead. They've worked great so far for my permanently installed DX Commander. I did cheat a bit as I had a cable tie gun from my previous employer that allows me to adjust the tension of the tie wrap and clips off the extra very neatly.

Excellent suggestion. In my case what I discovered was that the flex in the pole while lifting it into position puts a lot of extra tension on at least one of the elements causing it to fail at the fold over loops. I've since modified my Expedition as well and have had no further failures.

A good mod Jonathan. I've had to do 1st aid on my own with tape and a cable tie. New glue line is here, just need a bit of nice weather.

Great video Jonathan, and a bloody good idea 😊

I did the same with my Classic. The glue lined didn't hold for me, and this just added a touch more security for the element tension points. :) Great tip! :)

Nice - will be doing this. Built mine the other day. Suggest UV resistant cable ties.

That is a good idea Tom, particularly if being erected for a prolonged period!

Why not doing the loop with paracord ? Good old knot should keep it in place.
Then you can still use the original materials.
    Edit.
You could do a knot directly on the wire and achieve the loop with no additional parts.
    Alpine butterfly loop knot?

I think I understand what you are saying. Except that those loops are used for tensioning so shockcord is used rather than paracord. But it’s worth investigating! 👍🏻

@@M0JSX If you make an alpine knot on the wire itself, that will hold the shock cord with no need for glue lined heat shrink.

What impact does the loops have on element resonance? I have a 2024 Expedition which I have built, but I am not sure I understand how that works.

Very little to be honest. You might need to lengthen the element slightly to compensate, but realistically it’s not a huge difference (in my experience)

Use a BLACK one and you won't see it :)
