Well I got back from my adventure yesterday, and the antenna performed flawlessly. You can see my blog and daily updates if you go to: www.walking-and-talking.uk I have a load of videos and pictures to edit and upload - watch this space!! Thanks Cal and Loki and Wendy!
As always, both educational and informative. Just out of curiosity, how much do the trees impact the antenna? They have water in them so I figure they must have some impact. Does the antenna work measurably better if you set it up freestanding away from trees?
Hi Cal, cracking video with Tom,. Over the last few weeks (off work after back op) I have been using a 10m vertical EFHW, this gives me 20 & 10 with no tuner required, with 17 & 15 also being very effective with tuner, it will also tune on 80 but probably very inefficient (internal tuner). I use this setup because of a postage stamp size garden. So question is would you do a comparison video between your DX Commander Classic against the EFHW, and do you think that the EFHW could be an alternate product available from yourself.
Great video All, motivated me to build one expedition for SOTA and promised , if its not working out i shall buy one from you. Sad to miss out on that great sticker pack :) . Why haven't you measured out the wire lengths on the sides of the racks with a nice clamp/roll on one side? have a good weekend 73!
@@DXCommanderHQ too bad I cannot "invite" myself over to rig it for you. :) Would be a great ham spirit move. All though the bill for the expedition, the abv and a roll of extra dx10 would get me on the air like a champ, it's to costly burning all the fuel from the Netherlands. ;) Enjoy ! 73
Like a support? Yes you can... I think 43/44mm fits BUT on this version, I fear it might not be strong enough. At the end of May we have one that will work better in this config. However, saying all that, I know of several folks who slipped it over a 2 feet / 60cm pole (which was again, about 2 feet / 60m in the earth.

Fantastic Tom!!
I tried and tried to get you but couldn't
I have learned a ton about antennas watching your videos appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
Glad to help!
This video proves how a second person is necessary or at least very helpful for a quick build and install.
Having a good friend to assist on a video is always handy!
Based on this video (and others) I pulled the trigger and ordered the Expedition.
Really enjoyed the video...
Ah FAB!
Tom's, mark 9/10
Glad it is working again.
Nice one Callum and Tom good videos all ways de G6JMX
Legend!

At HF, I personally don't believe they play much.. I am surrounded by trees and my sigs get out just fine.. certainly up to 10m band.
Good morning from Kingman Arizona, USA. My next antena purchase will be yours.

Super thanks!

OK Peter, we do have 10 x high power end feds "in stock" that Mike made for me.. I will do test - eventually!
"THE INSTRUCTIONS"... we all know what that's all about :)))))
Destructions!
I have autism and ADHD, and can confirm, my desk looks like the same 😂😅 all thats missing is my own DX Expedition 🤣
Nice Video 👍
Thank you 👍

14:40 I've watched Calum build quite a few of these now and I think I have yet to see him use a proper non adjustable wrench/"spanner"😂
Never!
What hand held camera you using. Great video and content 👌
OK, so MOST of the time, we use DJI Pocket Osmo 2.. We do have a GoPro in the box right now so slightly better audio coming..
@@DXCommanderHQ which go pro
Er.. I *think* it's a Hero 10... Still in the box!
God, I am so glad that I am not the originator of the messy workbench.
Can you use a ground spike to slip pole onto if the bottom unscrews

@@DXCommanderHQ sounds OK. So you would need a good 4-5ft pole to give it some stability
Yep
