My suggestion is that you just start playing... then everything will make so much sense. Being really good at fantasy football is hard, but playing for the first time and being competitive is real easy. Just draft NFL players on your team, Start and Sit players each week, get fantasy points based on how they perform on the field, and you can add+drop players and trade players if you want... that's it. The concept is simple and I suggest you go do a mock draft or join a free league to try it out.

1. You randomize a draft order. Either the computer (website/platform/app) does it for you, or you draw names out of a hat or however. The draft order is set: 1-10, or 1-12 depending on how many people are in your league. 2. 99% of drafts are what they call snake drafts (serpentine drafts). So if you have the 12th pick in a 12-team league, you'll have the 13th pick (the order reverses on the even rounds). If you have the 1st overall pick, you'd have the 24th pick and 25th pick. In most leagues you only need 1 or 2 QBs. Go to settings to see how many players you need to start at each position. Most leagues start 1 QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1 FLEX (could be WR/RB/TE), 1 TE, 1 defense, 1 kicker... some leagues require one more WR and have no flex.
So many comments, sorry if it's been asked ... BUT two questions: Q1. What happens in the playoffs/finals when your player's teams start dropping out? (i.e. Do only still-active players contribute? or is there a different set of rules for FF? Q2. Does *every* FF season start with a draft from scratch? IF SO, when is it conducted relative to the regular season/what dates are important?
1. The fantasy playoffs start week 14 of the regular season and end week 16 of the regular season. All teams are playing week 16 2. You can draft whenever you want. The best time to draft is late August or early September right before the regular season kicks off... but some of our crazy drafts happen in July. I film all my drafts so you might want to go check them out

it's actually really easy. way easier if you just dive into it. +Brian Thorpe FantasyCouch.com is the best website every, period! Lol... I know, you probably mean where to play on. It's personal preference really, I personally love to play daily leagues on FanDuel here: bit.ly/FANTASYCOUCH But for traditional, season long leagues (this is probably best for first-time beginners), you can play on ESPN. Other sites that are popular are Yahoo, NFL and CBSSports. Let me know if you have any other questions or need help throughout the season.

How far ahead do they announce what players have the same bi-weeks? Can you please do a video that breaks down things like that? What players should be avoided together and how you figure it out?
Bye weeks are announced several months before the season. You can find them here: www.fantasycouch.com/2023/05/2023-nfl-bye-weeks/ These 2 videos are a MUST WATCH before you draft: ruclips.net/video/ik7cdHBwBNQ/видео.html and most importantly: ruclips.net/video/WXOtk5U9ls0/видео.html
no. the most scarce position is RB, so that is usually the most valuable position. A backup QB is usually not important at all. you can always find my updated rankings for the year here to help you out: fantasycouch.com/rankings
Yes, you have to find a solid group of guys that will want to play for several years. It's no fun to play in a dynasty league where 4 people quit every year. The league dies. You need to know people who love fantasy and really want to be in it for the long term. Unfortunately, that's easier said than done. We do have a dynasty league in our facebook group and there are people like that. I suggest you join! facebook.com/groups/fantasycouch/
Cam Newton is usually taken in the third round. I would likely wait to take him in the 4th round... I usually wait to draft a quarterback because I want to make sure I am set with my starting WRs and RBs first. You can ask me as many questions as you'd like! I read every comment and love responding! If you could please hit the like button and subscribe to the RUclips channel I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
+Fantasy Couch my league is a two qb roster, so I'm forced to take a little different approach than investing in the other skill positions first and thinking qb later. would you consider Derek Carr a later round sleeper?
William Mason Carr is not necessarily a deep round sleeper as he's drafted in nearly every draft. In dual-qb leagues, QBs are much more scarce and are more valuable. I highly recommend you watch this video: ruclips.net/video/DCg7pBWPUx8/видео.html
your team gets fantasy points based on how your players perform on the field throughout the first 16 weeks of the regular NFL season. So if you draft Saquon Barkely and he gets 200 yards and a touchdown the first week, your team will be rewarded 26 fantasy points and you will cheer! Yaaaaaaaaaaaay!
To drop a player: click 'My Team' and then click 'Drop Players'... to add a player off waivers/free agency click on 'Players" and click on the + plus sign next to a player to add them on your team. At least that is how ESPN and Yahoo are on my computer. Also, you can just go directly to 'Player' and add a player... it will walk you through the steps and let you know that you have to drop a player and ask you which player you want to drop, in order to make room for the new player you are adding to your roster (you can only have a certain amount of players on your team).
+Spoken209 They are very similar. It's more of personal preference, sort of like an iPhone and an Android--they can both do a lot of the same things, but it depends which one you personally prefer.
@Zach Bell (your account settings won't allow me to reply). I like Arian Foster much better than those two players--don't do it! Plus, you'd have to drop one player to make room for the two that you are getting.
Do you know if they send packages because they require my ZIP code AKA Postal Code and I lied about my age and said I was like 40 something but I'm really only 12 and I don't want them sending mail or packages or anything of that nature?!??!! Please get back to me!!

In a league, you might have around 9 players in your starting spots, and 7 players on your bench. You just swap the players in your bench with your starters... or you can leave it as is. You want to start the players who you think will score the most points that given week. Once your set, some sites require you to hit a 'submit' button. That's it ✅
+Alex R. It's similar to the real NFL draft, if you ever watched that. If an NFL team can get a quarterback in the 5th round, why waste a first round pick on him? Think of putting a price on each draft pick. Your first round draft pick is going to cost you $20 million, while your last round draft pick is going to only cost you $10,000. Going back to my first example with a quarterback... It might be OK to take that quarterback, who is projected to go in the 5th Round, in the 4th Round or maybe even the 3rd, but not OK to take him withe the first overall pick. Your early round picks are far too important to waste on a player you can get in the mid-late rounds.
+Alex R. Now if the player you really want is Adrian Peterson, I have him ranked as the best fantasy football player. So, drafting him in the first round is OK. But for this coming 2015 season, I wouldn't draft Aaron Rodgers until the end of the 2nd Round or early in the 3rd round. I would not draft Aaron Rodgers in the first round in 2015 drafts. Andrew Luck however, I have as a decent 2nd Round pick, and if you drafted him at the end of the 1st Round, that wouldn't be too bad. I hope these examples better explain my point. I believe Drew Brees is a good value pick in the 5th Round, but in our league, Brees was drafted in the 6th round, and that is great value for him! You can watch our 12-man draft and my analysis here: ruclips.net/video/_p2R53Ob4wM/видео.html
for rankings and weekly advice, watch my videos on this channel and check out my rankings on my website: fantasycouch.com/rankings for player news, just google the players name followed by the word rotoworld... so you would google: Saquon Barkely rotoworld for depth chart (which players are starting), look at OurLads website or just google: New York Giants depth chart
It really depends on the settings and everything, but typically you want to draft an RB. In normal leagues, I recommend drafting a guy like Christian McCaffrey, Justin Jefferson or Bijan Robinson 1st overall
You're welcome! Don't hesitate to ask me any questions in the future! I read every single comment! Make sure to like the video and subscribe. I have a lot of new videos up that will help you once you start playing!
No, but we should definitely make one. It applies the same principals though. Fantasy basketball is much more similar to fantasy baseball. You can watch our baseball video here: ruclips.net/video/lUzcLnB6F18/видео.html
If you're a commissioner, you set the draft date under LM Tools (Commissioner Settings). If you're joining a public league, they literally have a draft going like every 5 minutes, so just pick a date and time that suites you. Good luck this year! 🏆🏈
Yes, the commissioner is like the president of the social club... he/she is in charge and runs the league... this is only with a group of people you know though. If you are in a public league with people you don't know, then there is no commissioner. Feel free to watch this video: Why people play fantasy football ruclips.net/video/FeJeUb9VbE8/видео.html
in short, Yes! RBs are the most scarce and most valuable position. If you don't draft good RBs, then they will be very difficult to find later on. Defense is the 2nd least* valuable position and Kicker is the least valuable position, that's why I always draft a kicker in the very last round and I usually draft a defense in the 2nd-to-last round.
Don't know if I fully understand your question but it's pretty simple. If a player on your team gets 100 rush yards in a game, then get 10 fantasy points. If they get 50 rush yards, they get 5 fantasy points. If they get a touchdown they get 6 fantasy points. If they get 150 rush yards and 1 touchdown, they get 21 fantasy points. The better they perform statistically, the more fantasy points they get, regardless of position. It doesn't matter if it's a QB, RB, WR or TE, if they got 150 rush yards and 1 TD, they would get 21 fantasy points all the same
how do draft dates work plz somone help i have a draft sep 4 8pm now will this draft only be for the broncos vs panthers or the week after that when lots of teams play
I am here to help! I read every comment and try to answer every question! The first game of 2016 is Sept 8 (Panthers @ Broncos), so you're fine. No need to worry about anything. The only time the date comes into play is if the draft were after Sept 8 (the first game of Week 1 of the regular season). What site are you drafting on? ESPN, NFL, Yahoo? If this is a season-long league, which I believe it is, you're going to draft players from across the NFL, not just Panthers or Broncos players. Here are my 2016 rankings: bit.ly/rank16
royalCOW It is season-long 100% sure. If it wasn't, don't worry, it wouldn't let you draft players that weren't playing. You're in good hands bud! Make sure to please like & subscribe!
It's actually perfect time to play (maybe even a bit early)! I recommend playing on ESPN or Sleeper app. Do maybe a mock draft or two to get used to it, then do a real league in a week or 2... just google espn mock draft lobby or yahoo mock draft lobby to do a mock draft. A mock draft is essentially a fake draft for practice. Here is more info about mocks if you want: ruclips.net/video/bZw1iyxcyXU/видео.html

How does the draft work? Like how is the order that the draft go or do you draft what players you want when you want?

Fantasy Couch where can I find how players I should have at each position? I have Matt Ryan and D. Carr. I'm being told I need a 3rd guy?
In most leagues you only need 1 or 2 QBs. Go to settings to see how many players you need to start at each position. Most leagues start 1 QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1 FLEX (could be WR/RB/TE), 1 TE, 1 defense, 1 kicker... some leagues require one more WR and have no flex.

So many comments, sorry if it's been asked ... BUT two questions:
All teams are playing week 16
2. You can draft whenever you want. The best time to draft is late August or early September right before the regular season kicks off... but some of our crazy drafts happen in July. I film all my drafts so you might want to go check them out
Thank you this was very helpful and informative 👍👍

Time for a refresher.
how do you know when they have a bye week
Each players' Bye Weeks are clearly labeled while your drafting and after the draft is finished. After the draft you can click on a player and it will show his schedule for the year. I also have a list of all the 2016 NFL Bye Weeks on my site here: www.fantasycouch.com/2016-nfl-bye-weeks/
Also, great video. Thank you
np! Good luck this year!
Wow this is way over my head 😵💫 my work is doing this i think I'll sit this one out 😅
it's actually really easy. way easier if you just dive into it. Let me break it down to you:
1. draft players to make your team
2. start players you think will perform better, bench players that suck/are injured
3. when players perform well on Sundays, you get more fantasy points. fantasy points are good
Thanks I have a fantasy football party in a couple month's

Of course! Stay tuned for our weekly waiver videos ;)
What's the best fantasy football site to use and witch one do u use?
+Brian Thorpe FantasyCouch.com is the best website every, period! Lol... I know, you probably mean where to play on. It's personal preference really, I personally love to play daily leagues on FanDuel here: bit.ly/FANTASYCOUCH
But for traditional, season long leagues (this is probably best for first-time beginners), you can play on ESPN. Other sites that are popular are Yahoo, NFL and CBSSports. Let me know if you have any other questions or need help throughout the season.
Thanks for the advice man
Brian Thorpe You're welcome!
Should I train juju smith for marquise Goodwin? I have Antonio brown as my starting wr by the way
I would lean towards no. I do like Goodwin a lot, but man... you drafted JuJu so high... hopefully you can get Goodwin+another player for him!

should i pick up Shane Vereen from waiver and drop Reggie Bush
+armandocaballero82 Yes. I like Vereen a little more than Reggie Bush.
Anyone know how to set keepers on an ipad?
I'm in a keeper league on nfl.com but i can't find where i can pick my keepers from last seasons team! Please Help.
Go to Team Setting page. Should be able to find Keeper section there. If not Team Settings, League Settings.

@@FantasyCouch my league draft starts today I needed this refresher
fantasycouch.com for all my updated rankings and free draft kit
How far ahead do they announce what players have the same bi-weeks? Can you please do a video that breaks down things like that? What players should be avoided together and how you figure it out?
Bye weeks are announced several months before the season. You can find them here: www.fantasycouch.com/2023/05/2023-nfl-bye-weeks/
These 2 videos are a MUST WATCH before you draft:
ruclips.net/video/ik7cdHBwBNQ/видео.html
and most importantly: ruclips.net/video/WXOtk5U9ls0/видео.html
What positions should I prioritize first? Should I fill every position before I get my backup qb?
no. the most scarce position is RB, so that is usually the most valuable position. A backup QB is usually not important at all. you can always find my updated rankings for the year here to help you out: fantasycouch.com/rankings
Do you have any tips about getting into a Dynasty League and how to do it?
Yes, you have to find a solid group of guys that will want to play for several years. It's no fun to play in a dynasty league where 4 people quit every year. The league dies. You need to know people who love fantasy and really want to be in it for the long term. Unfortunately, that's easier said than done. We do have a dynasty league in our facebook group and there are people like that. I suggest you join! facebook.com/groups/fantasycouch/
Fantasy Couch thanks for the info! Love the channel and videos a lot, and will def look into the group!
last question, what round would you take cam in in a 12 man league
+Fantasy Couch if the top two WR's on the board are Allen Robinson & Brandon Marshall, which would you take?
William Mason Marshall
Love what u doin man
🛋👊
FC: if you had the 1st overall pick, who would you take?
Antonio Brown
Thank you now now i know how to play fantasy football
YW!
When are the games played?Like are the games played during the real NFL season or does it auto-schedule?
your team gets fantasy points based on how your players perform on the field throughout the first 16 weeks of the regular NFL season. So if you draft Saquon Barkely and he gets 200 yards and a touchdown the first week, your team will be rewarded 26 fantasy points and you will cheer! Yaaaaaaaaaaaay!
How do u drop a injured player n pick another one up(sproles) is out for the season
To drop a player: click 'My Team' and then click 'Drop Players'... to add a player off waivers/free agency click on 'Players" and click on the + plus sign next to a player to add them on your team. At least that is how ESPN and Yahoo are on my computer. Also, you can just go directly to 'Player' and add a player... it will walk you through the steps and let you know that you have to drop a player and ask you which player you want to drop, in order to make room for the new player you are adding to your roster (you can only have a certain amount of players on your team).
is the Espn fantasy football the same as the nfl fantasy football on the play store?
I am a Falcon I don't know what you are talking about. Who are "they"?
+Kirk Cousins Who are you referring to when you say "they" ?
im late but i own a league but how to i start the draft
Beau Ripple You have to set a draft date and time if you are the league manager (commissioner).

How do you pick your starters ?
In a league, you might have around 9 players in your starting spots, and 7 players on your bench. You just swap the players in your bench with your starters... or you can leave it as is. You want to start the players who you think will score the most points that given week. Once your set, some sites require you to hit a 'submit' button. That's it ✅
And one more thing could we be in two leagues at the same time ?
yes! I am in 6 leagues this year! I also film all my drafts so make sure to binge watch my other videos!
Thanks really helped!
+drew denny You're welcome! Make sure to share the video with others to get them on board!
I don't understand ADP and picking for value. Why can't I just pick the player I want as my first round pick?
Is there a site like a ligainsider site, where I can see the starting linge up?
for rankings and weekly advice, watch my videos on this channel and check out my rankings on my website: fantasycouch.com/rankings
for player news, just google the players name followed by the word rotoworld... so you would google: Saquon Barkely rotoworld
for depth chart (which players are starting), look at OurLads website or just google: New York Giants depth chart
Which position should you draft if you have the 1st overall pick?
It really depends on the settings and everything, but typically you want to draft an RB. In normal leagues, I recommend drafting a guy like Christian McCaffrey, Justin Jefferson or Bijan Robinson 1st overall
Thank you! This was very helpful!
You're welcome! Don't hesitate to ask me any questions in the future! I read every single comment! Make sure to like the video and subscribe. I have a lot of new videos up that will help you once you start playing!
i have leagarrate blount, Matt forte, Todd gurley
who would you start this week?
Let me rank them for you for Week 2: 1)Gurley 2)Forte 3)Blount
Is there one of these for fantasy basketball?
No, but we should definitely make one. It applies the same principals though. Fantasy basketball is much more similar to fantasy baseball. You can watch our baseball video here: ruclips.net/video/lUzcLnB6F18/видео.html
How do you make a draft date?
If you're a commissioner, you set the draft date under LM Tools (Commissioner Settings). If you're joining a public league, they literally have a draft going like every 5 minutes, so just pick a date and time that suites you. Good luck this year! 🏆🏈
Fantasy Couch is the person who made the league the commissioner
Yes, the commissioner is like the president of the social club... he/she is in charge and runs the league... this is only with a group of people you know though. If you are in a public league with people you don't know, then there is no commissioner. Feel free to watch this video: Why people play fantasy football ruclips.net/video/FeJeUb9VbE8/видео.html

minecraft addiction You're welcome!
I’m just starting and I was wondering isn’t the best player to get in your first pick a RB
in short, Yes!
Fantasy Couch thanks for the tips and the fast reply

Does the points grow from how the players play in position , in a sports game?
Here are my 2016 rankings: bit.ly/rank16
im on espn app i dont know if its season long or not
if its not season long do i just draft players for broncos vs panthers ?
royalCOW It is season-long 100% sure. If it wasn't, don't worry, it wouldn't let you draft players that weren't playing. You're in good hands bud! Make sure to please like & subscribe!
Fantasy Couch thx will do
hey bro I picked up Hightower n i saw they released him can I drop him n pick someone else
Yes, you can pickup Matt Breida (SF RB)
Is it too late to start a league? What is a good free league you would recommend of it's not too late? I've never played before
It's actually perfect time to play (maybe even a bit early)!
@@FantasyCouch awesome! Me and my buddy wanna do a league. I've never done one and idk how experienced he is. I was thinking about making one on espn or yahoo and finding some guys to join it. Would that be too much considering I've never played or is it doable?
@@mangamike6855 that's totally doable actually, and a great way to learn, even though it could be a bit difficult your first year. The hard part is actually finding 10 guys who are able to draft at the same time/day. Good luck tho 👊🏽 you got this
