Tip 1 is super underrated. Need a commissioner that doesn't allow clear BS. I like that my league forces you start a full roster each week. Those who don't aren't invited back, and the league is much stronger for it

Best start up dynasty drafts are slow auction with 1,000 fab. This allows everyone to vie for virtually any player(s) they can afford. It's more fair and more fun than any snake draft or low budget auction.
the "best" is definitely personal preference my friend. If you have ADHD like me and it's hard to get 12 people to be in the same place (online) for several hours, it can be painful. An auction dynasty startup draft can take 4+ hours. Auction has incredible advantages, especially for serious fantasy football fans, but I wouldn't say it's the "best"... the word I'd use is "brutal"
@@FantasyCouch Personal preference, no doubt. But I was referencing slow draft, what used to be called e-mail drafts. Every high bid resets for 12 hours. It can take days or weeks, but it gives everyone time to really and weigh out every decision and apply strategy. It's really fun.
ahh ok. I never did a slow-auction draft. I'm not a fan of slow drafts either man. way too boring for me. I definitely understand the pros of doing an auction draft tho, and I do one on this channel every year for money.

It gives every lottery team at least a 1/5 shot of getting a top two pick. For example, the best lottery team (7th overall) gets a 10% chance at 1st, 10% chance at 2nd, and an 80% chance at 6th. Whereas the worst team has a 25% chance at 1st, 25% chance at 2nd, and a 50% chance at 3rd, making 3rd their worst possible position
yes, did you read the very last sentence? This video is kind of old and I prefer that last method more. On Sleeper there's a way to find out the most maximum points a team could have scored. We're moving away from the lottery and using that nowadays. This gets rid of tanking, because it doesn't matter who you start, it just matters which team could have scored the most points. The team that wins the championship automatically gets the last pick
yup exactly. imagine a new GM or head coach being hired on a new team. he inherits that team and tries to put his stamp on it by changing a few things and getting some new players
In our startup dynasty draft last year, 5 QBs went in the top 24 picks. It's not abnormal to see 7 or more QBs go that early. Never ever take QB that early unless it's SuperFlex or 2QB... I recommend trading down 1 or 2 spots. This way you can get a quality 3rd round pick or something and still wind up with Chase/Pitts. And worst case scenario is you wind up with Najee at 3 which is amazing lol.

I'm a 7-8 fantasy vet with 3 yrs of commissioner experience (PPR). A buddy of mine, just got me into his Dynasty League ($150). Unfortunately, I'm taking over someone else's team who dropped out. My team sticks, what advice do you have for me. Rookie Draft is in 2 weeks. I have to make a lot of cuts and to trades. The good thing is I have the #2 overall pick.
Without seeing your team (may not do a lot of good anyways), I'll give you some basic advice. QUALITY over QUANTITY, always. With the No.2 overall pick definitely take CEH or Taylor. Then plan to go after more quality in the near future... Trade 3 ok players for 1 great player... trade two mid-round picks for a 1st rounder, etc. Easier said then done, but always go for that. Also, since you have a bad team, you're only hope is to win later... Stack players with lots of upside and have lots of youth. Identify other owners in your league that are in win now mode (you can find them cuz they have players like Julio, Brady, Brees, Kelce, etc). A keeper league is when you only keep like 1-5 players from last year's team. Next, I would switch to sleeper app. They have a an app, and the website is sleeper.app ... it's pretty much the best and easiest for dynasty leagues... especially if you and your league mates are on mobile devices a lot. Then you want to setup a 5-round rookie draft... you should be able to figure it out. It might also make sense to add 5 taxi spots to store rookies or just add 5 more roster spots... that's completely up to you tho. Should be able to figure it out. Either switch to sleeper (what I recommend), or do an offline draft, which isn't too hard since it's only 5 rounds max. You can even have the rookie draft on a sleeper draft board (like a mock draft)... or do it completely manually... then enter the data manually to your espn league.

if it's superflex where you can start 2 QBs, then going Mahomes is a good idea. If it's not SuperFlex then I would NOT go Mahomes. You can always trade down too. Trading picks is much more common in dynasty than redraft. I read every comment btw. I'm here to help!

So I have devin singletary on my dynasty team and a manager in my league has offered me Alvin kamara and a 6th round pick from next year for singletary and my first round pick. I’ve already gone 0-2 this year and could possibly get in the top 3-5 picks in the draft out of 12 managers. Would this be worth it to me? I know kamara is on a whole entire level than singletary but that draft pick giving up scares me for what I could possibly get next year. Of course I’m thinking that he’s already proven himself as well. It’s an IDP league and I got nick bosa this year at pick 11 since I was second last year and it’s not a snake draft. It’s based on records from the previous year. I’m mostly losing this year because I have Big Ben and cam Newton. So we all know the rollercoaster that already is

When you draft Tyreek Hill, expect him to be suspended 6-8 games so you won't be disappointed. Round 5 or 6 in a 12-team league is good (round 4 = absolute earliest, but I wouldn't). Round 7 is absolutely amazing in a 10 teamer
This presentation has a lot of energy but someone who is clearly new to dynasty doesn't have the experience to share good advice. Some of the points made were flat out wrong. Too many to correct here.

Empire league is awesome. It's kind of cool to start over when one owner achieves an actual dynasty and wins twice in a row.

I personally value RBs in the early rounds. It’s easier to find value WRs in later rounds.

So I have devin singletary on my dynasty team and a manager in my league has offered me Alvin kamara and a 6th round pick from next year for singletary and my first round pick. I’ve already gone 0-2 this year and could possibly get in the top 3-5 picks in the draft out of 12 managers. Would this be worth it to me? I know kamara is on a whole entire level than singletary but that draft pick giving up scares me for what I could possibly get next year. Of course I’m thinking that he’s already proven himself as well. It’s an IDP league and I got nick bosa this year at pick 11 since I was second last year and it’s not a snake draft. It’s based on records from the previous year. I’m mostly losing this year because I have Big Ben and cam Newton. So we all know the rollercoaster that already is

Where to draft T Hill? Got him in the 7th in a 10 team league and in the 5th in a 12 team
When you draft Tyreek Hill, expect him to be suspended 6-8 games so you won't be disappointed. Round 5 or 6 in a 12-team league is good (round 4 = absolute earliest, but I wouldn't). Round 7 is absolutely amazing in a 10 teamer

This presentation has a lot of energy but someone who is clearly new to dynasty doesn't have the experience to share good advice. Some of the points made were flat out wrong. Too many to correct here.
I think one of the main reasons you're getting that vibe is that fantasy, especially dynasty, is changing dramatically. This video is kind of old. I've also done a lot of dynasty content since then and it's a lot different & evolved
