Wish the Adeptus Mechanicus for 40k gets this sort of treatment soon. They were my first army in 2020 for 9th when I was just getting into the hobby, and it's kinda sad when they get skipped in favor of more space Marines. Heck there new models in HH show off what ADMECH could be like.
There are already rules for pivoting in 40k. Im assuming what is meant here is GW is going to use diagrams to point out to people how moving a model full distance, then pivoting the model on a point, gives them distance. The core rules already address this but one thing Reddit and Facebook has proven is a lot of people need pictures to understand how they are gaining extra movement.
They could just be using this as a test to see how popular Vashtor is and roll out a complete dark mech next edition. They did this kind of with Custodes, Inquisition, Death Watch, etc.
Hopefully we get that reveal show just for a new codex roadmap as there's only 1 left on the current one (agents) otherwise we are a bit blind in whats coming up if we don't believe the whispers of the warp
Makes me wonder if it'll be a rework of the old furibundus ball dreadnought if I'm honest, seeing as they seem to be reworking the saturnite termies, it'd make sense to me.
Pivoting sounds interesting. Vehicle like tanks have a turret, which they can move... doing so changes the shape of the model and moving them can, potentially, give a movement advantage so it's possible that they're enforcing stricter measureing and movement rules for vehicles. I would imagine though that it's likely how it is done in old world? pivoting around the cetral axis of the vehicle minus' an amount of total movement from your tank? Maybe? So you can move in a straight line 10" but for each 90 degrees of picot you make minus 2" from the vehicles total movement?
I think it’s inevitable that the primaris range will get some more volkites eventually, especially with how GW locks certain weapons types with certain squads. We’ll probably end up seeing a full squad dedicated to just that. It’s just a waiting game of when they’ll actually get around to fitting it into their release schedule god only knows how many editions out from now.
If they’re making a new dreadnought they need to make a smaller one, like the original 1st edition dreadnought model, and give it a jump pack so it can keep up with the Assault marines and pile in with them. Their was an option to give 1st edition dreadnoughts a Juno pack. They should go with that! That would be so cool. We don’t need a bigger dreadnought, we have tanks.

so pivoting (which is in the HH and necromunda rules) is a thing cos in older eidtions vehicles in particular could only fire in the direction their weapons could face (eg a heavy bolter on the frount of a land raider could only fire forwards, while the sonson lascannons have forward to rear fireing arcs on each of their respective sides) and vehicles also had different stats for front, side and rear armour. also vehicles had to move in a straight line and were only allowed to make 1 turn in the movement (some agivle vehicles like the eldar ones could do 2)
That might explain why there has not been a new Anrakyr the Traveller figure. He can take control of vehicles and automatons using ' Mind in the Machine'. That would be kind of fun.
I think there might be some fog of war around saturnine terminators / dreadnought / tactical dreadnought armor. Now that Horus Heresy books are done, would be a bit strange to introduce a completely new dreadnought. Chunkier terminators have received passing mentions in the books though.
The MK II Tactical Space Marines sounds good, I'll wait for the MK V Space Marines to come out, unless they are going to be the ones in the new Horus Heresy boxset instead of MK II according to rumours? The new Terminators and Dreadnought I'm interested in seeing soon. Only what GW will reveal?
While i love new marines, and particularly enjoying HH sets....a bigger dread than a redemptor? i think that would look ridiculous next to the models...you would basically be in the ballpark of a knight at that point surely? Saturnine Terminators sounds cool.
Very interesting and strange news. Between the giant dreadnought we've never heard of to pivoting, to Magnus screwing up again, they're definitely getting creative over there at GW.
Of course it will be the same poses, the weapon upgrade kits have been designed to fit on every new mk of armor. A small price to pay to have a fully cross compatible range imo, I don't want to buy one weapon upgrade per mk like it was with the Forgeworld stuff in HH 1.0

We really haven't had pivoting in the rules since 2nd. It's a bit of a weird rule to have in an edition where vehicle facing doesn't matter. That being said, I don't know how vehicle weapon LoS works in 10th.
We actually have had rules for pivoting models since 2017/8th edition AT LEAST, they just werent called "pivoting". You measure the part of the model that moved the furthest distance along the path the model took. This already handles pivots/turning/etc.

So I usually tune out with 30k as it doesn't interest me. However.....now I see salamanders. Is it possible to use the salamander set from this box to use in 40k? (even if not I'm still getting it and selling the IW half lol)
Those sets don't have Salamanders and IW halves, they are all models from the same range painted in different colors. There is no distinction between the plastic models, GW uses the different legions to create a small narrative but they are all used by all SM armies in HH. The legion specific stuff is made in resin and not included in those boxes.
Magnus is smart, he should know that Vashtorr can subvert technology. Why would he deliberately send automata to fight? Unless he WANTS to empower Vashtorr and make him a threat to Tzeentch and the others...
Magnus is dumb, that's like the only consistent thing with this character. He always thinks that he knows better than everyone else, it's totally on brand for him to send automata to fight against the wannabe god of technology because he is convinced that his robots are better than Vashtorr's knowledge of technology

Idk. These are terrible picks for minis to put in a box set. We just got Mk III which is basically Mk II, Saturnine Termies are a strange pick, and a retcon on the Levi? It all sounds more like a pipe dream imo. But, GW does weird things. If they do plan on a third box, they should use it as an opportunity to update more iconic stuff. Give us new Mk IV, update the Cataphractii or Tartaros Termies, and give us the Lucifer Dread.
So how do you play that isn't the official way to play? I'm asking coming from the POV of absolutely hating the Leviathan pack so now I'm curious how others are doing it.
No side objectives, sometimes we do rules like, if you don't shoot you can move double, sometimes we do anything that can explode actually explodes etc, just fun stuff.
I don't mean to sound like a hater, but I do think it's kinda funny GW did what you asked with the rules pretty much, simplified them, got rid of the bloat, ect. and you don't like the rules/the game as constructed. Idk what your exact beefs with the games are though, so hard for me to say whether it's invalid.
I personally think they made it more confusing with 9th and 10th Edition, all the terrain rules, the wording on some of the stuff boggles my mind, start of 8th Edition was my favourite time, that was more simple and way more fun.

So I'm returning to the hobby after 15 years away. Where is all that Horus Heresy footage from? Looks cool and well done.
That footage was just something GW made to promote the new edition back in 2022.
