  • Caught this Big Fish in a Tiny Stream Alaska King Salmon Fishing w/ ‪@alaskasmallcraftadventures‬ is going to show you the ins and outs of fishing for King salmon on the Kenai Peninsula in Ninilchik Alaska. Vinny and Ryan head South down the highway to venture out into the wilderness around the tiny little town of Ninilchik Alaska. King Salmon fishing only opens up for a few days a years and we set out to take advantage of it! Follow along to see what kind of gear we are using to land these awesome King Salmon! Filmed by a couple of local Ninilchik guys who grew up in the area and narrated to explain how to catch a fish!       Yea, I’m on it! The Russian is packed full already and the ADFG is doubling the limit this Sunday June 18 to 6 per day!

      They are going as far as shutting down some of the personal sett netting (Kasilof) to try and get some Kings to return home. It's looking real slim in any of the rivers for wild Kings, including Soldotna area. Most of the saltwater is shut down North of Homer for King trolling as well.

    05:25 A really fresh king salmon. Interesting to learn that king salmon fishing is open only for a few days a year.

      yea the fishery gets hit pretty hard to really allow any more days on it. They are pretty fish though.

    I remember when I used to go down here as a kid and catch 10-20 kings out of one hole. I went down this summer after years and there was 50 people fishing it. It’s such a small stream with such a small king run the fact videos like this are made and folks are running guided trips on it is absolute trash.

      I grew up in Ninilchik myself. The kings were trashed well before RUclips existed and all locals know that. I’m sorry you’re frustrated with the runs not being what they used to be, so am I.

      oh no doubt! usually we bring them home but in this instance we couldn't be sure if it was under 20in. didn't want to count such a small king against the harvest record. Measuring next time!

      @@alaskasmallcraftadventures species does not change based on size. Its possible to catch a 10in king (chinook). I think you were relating it to bag limit in the video.

I know your just trying to help people catch fish and all. respect for that. but are kings are going away pretty fast even with hatchery’s. and getting crowded sucks especially on a small local river. 🤷🏼‍♂️

      Those bad boys are sold at Trustworthy hardware in Soldotna. First come, first serve it seems they sell out quick. You’re right about them being several years old now.

      @@mudjerrybeen here since 88. What these videos do is help Alaskans out with putting food on plates and in the freezer. A Alaskan helping Alaskans. His videos have put food on my family’s table. That is what Alaskan do Help each others. Bad mouth every post all you want you just look like the A hole every one laughs at.
