Age wise the parents look spot on. If I had to guess the brother is probably early 20s so around a 5 to 6 year difference. I can relate to being the older parent as we didn't have our son until we turned 40, so when he graduates high school we will almost be 60.
Makes sense that the Agent who interviewed the Spider-Man crew would pop up here. Things took place in NYC in the movie, and we’re just over the bridge in Jersey now 🥰
I see so many people saying that's Michael Cera on the tv, and I'm just like, am I blind? Or is everyone else? Because that's clearly Keri Russel even upside down.
No, I'm the same. When they said Michel Cera I had to go back and check because I didn't remember seeing him, and then watched it again and was like no that's Felicity.
It's interesting, Aaron talking about his parents being older. My mom adopted my brother and I when she was older too. All my cousins are about 10-15 years older than me, married with kids while I feel like I'm nowhere NEAR that. I also have a friend who's mom was VERY young (17) when she had her, and so her grandma is the same age as my mom. I often forget that, and it's so weird to remember. I don't think of my mom as old, but she is.
Based off this one episode alone I'm really excited to see more of her character and get more specifics about what she can and can't do with her powers. And this has actually got me (marginally) hyped for the Captain Marvel sequel which is also gonna have Monica Rambeau, that film has a lot of potential.
anyone else notice how the popular girls captain marvel costume is actually the carol danvers mrs.marvel outfit minus the fishnet stockings and captain marvel design.
The audio seems to have issues if you're trying to watch through the RUclips app on mobile. It should hopefully be fixed soon, but it works on desktop or through your browser in the meantime
I think the mom knew exactly what Kamala will become. She knew of the "genetics" and that "heirloom" comes with it and what it can do. When her mom said "I wish you would just focus on you", I think it meant to things: Be normal just like everybody else OR If she's to embrace that power, she should use it as herself.
I generally never ever rant on your channel guys. I love you all BUT I must this time. Definitely geared way more towards kids this time. It was very nostalgic (when that song played when they went shopping and how her parents would guilt her so hard and the way they talked in that saree shop about the girl breaking off the wedding and going travelling...very relatable in a lot of ways to me as a Pakistani.. I'm not Muslim but I am very much a part of that culture as anyone else) It was a fun episode. I enjoyed it for the most part. I don't know how I feel about these origins though...where's the terrigen mist and cocoon??? A bracelet with superpowers really...🤔. She's supposed to be an inhuman. And the abilities are extensions now and not her actual body stretching out...that look like polygons 😂. And I'm supposed to believe if this is an heirloom, what has the family been doing all this time with all that power standing by and letting people die when they could have done something about it. Helped with Thanos or any other threat. Also that girl that got slammed by Thor's hammer should have died on the first impact. And then the second one should have smooshed her in to the wall 😂. *Edit*..I guess I do know how I feel about it 😂 All the doodles were fun. The ant man head didn't even phase a lot of people they barely moved out of the way and most were cheering like a bunch of idiots... Do better Disney.. Fuck lol Also I hate how they make Pakistanis sound like Indians every damn time 😑. The lady that's supposed to be in charge of the show says she's all about "breaking the stereotypes" but this was ALLL the stereotypes that white people see all the time shoved in to the episode pretty much. Geared towards a certain hollywood audience to please them by showing only one side of the culture or a certain stereotype of people/views of how white people perceive our culture. And as fun and as relatable as it made me feel for a while in all honesty like I said it's just full of brown stereotypes. It's pretty annoying actually. A bit tone deaf, "Here's your representation..." *empties dump truck filled with brown tropes*. Older brother they love that's religious, rebellious teenager, parents that are never pleased by her or trust her. There's tonnes of families that aren't like that so why not show that side of it if you're trying to "break the stereotypes". Not a great example of practice what you preach. Specially if it's going to represent all of us Pakistanis and young Pakistani women everywhere in the world. I was still entertained but I also felt everything I just mentioned. This is just the first episode I get that but if that's how it's going to be...
I just know the so called fans. Toxic youtubers and comments will attack the show. Like they did with Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Moses Ingram and Candace Patton. The Joseph Willsomething that comments on your videos has a problem with woc.
Fun fact, Avengerscon actually featured a number of cosplayers who were hired to work on costuming for the show (the cameos were a bonus). For instance the female Captain America posing with the USO girls is a pro cosplayer/costumer known as Ridd1e.
Ok so what's really odd is that I can watch the video fine on my laptop. Sound is perfect and everything. It's just when I try and watch it on my phone it's giving me this no stream error message
I hate that I'm old enough to relate more to the parents than the 16 year old, lol. 16yo girl me would have reacted exactly the same way to the Hulk outfit and Dad, only now I can see they were trying to meet her half way and it would have been a good opening to negotiate. But at that age everything feels like literal life and death.
Same (well, except I don't hate it that much, it certainly beats the alternative :). But I really hope Kamala's "hero's journey" is partly about her learning to appreciate her parents a bit more - sure they're smothering and embarrassing and everything parents can be at that age but they're _also_ clearly loving and at least willing to _try_ to meet her half way. (pretty sure it will be, otherwise the parents would be presented less sympathetically)
Ikr, we’re supposed to be frustrated that her parents (more especially her mother, her dad honestly seems more chill) don’t want her running off to AvengersCon, but we gotta remember that in this universe there’s nothing stopping some supervillain from wrecking everything in sight for the thousandth time. Like, yeah I’d be worried too!
How old are you 30? I related to Kamala on a spiritual level I almost cant stand my Mom. I love her cause she's my Mom of course, but as a PERSON omg she's borderline unbearable, She's a Immigrant also she has this One-dimensional way of thinking & how everything SHOULD BE.
@@anonymes2884 I understand where the parents are coming from.. naturally a place of fear but smothering is not a good way to raise your child (instead they should have set clear boundaries i.e. be back by 9pm/ understood who she was going with and location). I wasn't going to watch it cause I didn't like the trailer. I'm glad I watched. It's way better than what the trailer made it out to be. At least to me.
I wasn't too sure about the change to her powers from the comics, but I think this is actually a really cool step forward that keeps her different from ant man + Mr. Fantastic which she was always a bit of a mix of. Not to mention the entire cast is absolutely sensational, the visuals are some of the best the MCU has made, and the effects of the powers really pop on screen
the amount of online outrage about her changed powers was a bit weird considering numerous other marvel properties have changed origins/powers etc. with barely a squeek. It's almost like they were just using that as an excuse and the hate was for other reasons. 🧐
@@damienjohn maybe because the stretchy powers is VERY significant her power is the reason for her growth, to accept who she is that she doesn't have to be someone else to be accepted, their outrage is reasonable

I have a Detail that you missed : when Bruno tells Kamala " Hey , Let's never do that Zombie impersonation again " Matt Lintz ( Bruno ) was on the Walking Dead his character was kill and he become a Zombie , Lol
I was never a comic book person. I loved Super-heroes and their stories, I just absorbed them through other media (TV mainly before the MCU) Ms. Marvel was the first comic that I actually really read consistently, and I loved it, so you can imagine my excitement for this series. Overall, I think the episode was incredible, the cast does an amazing job with the characters. The interpretation of Kamala's imagination is awesome, and I relate to drifting off into your own head so much. I don't know how I feel about the changes to Kamala's powers... I am fairly attached to the original, and her powers are so iconic to me, so... idk, we'll see, everything else was so strong that I am willing to give the powers a chance, and even if I end up disliking it, if everything else remains this strong, I can overlook it.
Loved this episode, was really pleasantly surprised by it! Also nice setup for the rest of the series in the post credits with a cool connection back to NWH
So why are people hating on this show? This first episode was pretty good for a first episode. Clearly has its own identity compared to other marvel shows/movies.
Lots of people are hating on the "teenage girl target audience" and lots of discrimination against the culture and religion portrayed, so basically just racist male nerds angry that its not a white man with powers and just a young muslim girl ( also she's a fan of Captain Marvel which also got review bombed when the movie came out )
Because there are soo many bad parts. Cringe and just stupid. Weird and not funny. Brining in random stuff and the power I like but it’s not accurate. Annoying characters.
@@Nekotaku_TV the characters are similar to real life. The dialogue and everything else is natural to me. Your life experiences might just be different than others lol

Iman Vellani is Kamala Khan, she embodies the character 100%, when you get the casting of a lead character right, you are on a winner. Can't wait to see how her powers grow as and how she embraces her abilities to do good and protect her friends and society.
I honestly do not care what the haters say(I know, bad choice of words, but I’m telling the truth). I’ve been looking for this kind of rep for a long time. A fresh, non stereotypical viewing of my culture and heritage. I got it, and so much more. I’ll admit, I have some reservations on the way she got her powers. After all, the comic version was an Inhuman(I believe, I may be wrong since it’s been a while). But remember, this isn’t an adaption. This is merely based on the comics. You could even call this a different Earth, if you want. My personal opinion? I’m excited to learn about the new Ms Marvel.
Unquestionably the best D+ Marvel series premiere to day! can't wait to learn where exactly these powers actually come from, and to get some great ground level heroing, like in Hawkeye!
This takes place after Hawkeye and no way home because on Disney plus in the chronological order it’s after Hawkeye at the end so they could have maybe just decided to not add a captain America shield to the Statue of Liberty after Spider-Man broke it and all that
From the comics, Marvel is the official chronicler of super hero stories. Back issues in the vault are “legal documents” according to the Dan Slott She-Hulk run.

I wonder if that flash she had was kind of like the ancestral plane from Black Panther? I really hope the rest of the series can keep it up.
I mean, i'm from the UK and I don't see the problem either (sure, at that age I had some friends much closer but I also regularly cycled half an hour to meet others). My favourite details were the creative representations of the texted conversations, and the use of comic panel/cover artwork in the end credits.
In one of the scenes, there's a truck that passes with "trust a bro" written on it lol.
Age wise the parents look spot on. If I had to guess the brother is probably early 20s so around a 5 to 6 year difference. I can relate to being the older parent as we didn't have our son until we turned 40, so when he graduates high school we will almost be 60.
that Ant-Man-Head felt so comical literally having infinite acceleration xD

"nani" is how we address our (maternal) grandmother, yes.

Of course I did watch a lot of Felicity back in the day, so maybe I'm just programmed to see her.
No, I'm the same. When they said Michel Cera I had to go back and check because I didn't remember seeing him, and then watched it again and was like no that's Felicity.
Him chillin in that crosswalk and those 2 playing Photon gloves on the roof had my panic on high alert. GET OUT OF THE STREET SWEET CHILD
This show has SO MUCH visual energy to it. The cinematography and editing really set this episode apart from the rest of D+'s other offerings.
Love love the show after 1 ep. Feels unique and fits really well
I absolutely loved this episode, as an asian growing up immersed in western culture, this is so relatable
the actor at the end you're talking about is also from Succession, which you should watch
Man I was waiting for this all day. Since you mention this during your black Adam trailer reaction. Now it’s just “No stream” 😭

I have a lot of South Asian friends and the stories they tell of their strict as hell parents. Sounds like a nightmare, my parents were so chill
Watching the episode it was killing me that I recognised Bruno from something and couldn't place him, he's older Henry from the Walking Dead
*Edit*..I guess I do know how I feel about it 😂
All the doodles were fun. The ant man head didn't even phase a lot of people they barely moved out of the way and most were cheering like a bunch of idiots... Do better Disney.. Fuck lol
Also I hate how they make Pakistanis sound like Indians every damn time 😑.
This is the MCU's best shot project. They know about the Guardians via Antman's book. In the comics, Marvel comics does exist. It gets meta at times.
You do remember in the Avengers, when captain Marvel stood next to thor and he summoned his hammer, and she did NOT move?
I feel like this show is the perfect example of self contained/tries into the mcu which fans have argued over.

YES CALVIN! That was Scott Pilgrim you saw, do not let them fool you!
@@SpiralSine6 No different from America today but with something else...
I was smothered like that (the show is too realistic) and it didn't help, I was scared to travel or didn't know how - learnt every thing later in life.
The trailer made me expect a disney original teen movie type series but i was very very pleasantly surprised, really likable characters and great cinematography, can't wait to see the rest

@@damienjohn but that was due to reboots or storyline this was out of no where
@@beanhead5398 but isn’t a reboot or a storyline something new? Comic books change powers all of the time out of nowhere, it’s nothing new

Really enjoyed the episode. Loved the visual style. It reminded me of a fusion between comic book style with Scott Pilgrim vs The World
I have a Detail that you missed : when Bruno tells Kamala " Hey , Let's never do that Zombie impersonation again " Matt Lintz ( Bruno ) was on the Walking Dead his character was kill and he become a Zombie , Lol
@@Nekotaku_TV she is not annoying

Very distinct in my opinion as the last few marvel shows started to feel very similar.
I think the people with glowing eyes she saw was the other users of that bracelet.
I wouldn't call myself a marvel fan at all, but this series has got me hooked. Iman Vellani is Kamala Khan, she embodies the character 100%, when you get the casting of a lead character right, you are on a winner. Can't wait to see how her powers grow as and how she embraces her abilities to do good and protect her friends and society.
This is probably my favorite debut episode for an MCU show. It's just straight up delightful.
