    I have always been impressed by the logistics in construction and running of such massive factories. For example the Berlin factory is on the 5000 cars/week average. Just think of 10000 front seats per week - frame, foam, metal frame and covering....then, of course, they must be assembled and delivered. Mind boggling.

      Coordinating all the parts to be at the factory in certain quantities by certain times to keep production going continuously. They also have to put in buffers in case something gets delayed. Very sophisticated software to keep things running smoothly. Very tough job.

    Tesla choosing Mexico for its next Gigafactory could bring several benefits. Mexico's proximity to the United States, a key market for Tesla, would reduce logistical challenges and shipping costs. The availability of skilled labor, particularly in the automotive sector, would support efficient production. Additionally, Mexico has been fostering trade relationships through agreements like the USMCA, which could facilitate smoother cross-border operations. The investment could stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and contribute to technology transfer and knowledge sharing in the region. Overall, establishing a Gigafactory in Mexico could enhance Tesla's production capabilities while leveraging the country's strategic advantages. Thanks, The Tesla Space!

    As nice as it would be to have a more compact charger in Europe, from what I've heard, the issue with it being used here is that NACS lacks support for three-phase charging which is common in some European countries. Tesla would have to advance their connector to a 'global' version if they want to push beyond North America (or at least, into Europe). Not that I really have any issues with the existing Type 2 CCS connector we use though.

    • @KlavsKlavsen
      @KlavsKlavsen 11 месяцев назад +1

      Its not only common its almost all European countries that 3 phases (400v) to all houses and grids are built so you can only fast charge IF you use 3 phases. Technically its also requires much less cobber/wire size as power is distributed across 3 phases means 1/3 of total cobber and hence wire size. Ie. Fast charging with nacs would require a transformer to pull from ,3 phases and convert to support nacs in Europe

    • @robertweekley5926
      @robertweekley5926 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@KlavsKlavsen- Failure to understand, that, the Grid Supply in America also offers "3-Phase Power" seems to be one aspect of this long running conversation.
      However, there is also another: "Tesla Superchargers" only supply "DC Voltages" to the Vehicle, so an External AC to DC Conversion is required, and is built in to each Supercharger Set, in the Transformer Pad Unit.
      The use of Slightly thinner Copper Wires, might be of some benefit, but also, people seem to miss, that this "NACS" System, will, as we understand, be exactly what is used, up to 1,000 Volts and 1 Megawatts.
      Hence, making those wires Thinner, might not be desired, if plans are well developed, for the yet to be announced, even higher power delivery, via this connection.
      As to Home Charging, initial Tesla's, went to Europe, back at the start, as I understand, that were quite capable of AC Charging inputs, in Europe, so they quite likely used onboard 3-Phase AC to DC Electronics, in the Onboard Chargers.
      The situation with Split Phase Power fed to North American Homes, being a bigger thing, still, than Tesla, is not something they are yet ready to "Disrupt", is probably why the NACS has the words "North American" in there!
      Also, realize, that the SAE Plugs for CCS1, are NOT the same as those for Europe's CCS2!
      And, unless I am mistaken, nobody made an Adapter between those two designs.
      Also, few people take their personal vehicles from North America to Europe, in general, so that aspect, is not that crucial.

    That's called "price fixing" & is illegal in most civilized countries.
    Yes, not letting them set pricing together may make for a more volatile market for a while, & some companies might end up going broke as a result. But that's part of doing business, & those companies have to know that. Setting prices is bad for us the consumers.

    Good luck finding workers that will stay on the job for more than a month or two. The company I worked for outsourced production to Mexico and found that workers would get a few pay checks and then just stop coming to work for a month as they spent the money. Then they would go find another job where ever. It was a very different culture. Managers went out there to visit the factory and found many people had only worked there for a few weeks. The wheels fell off that thing within a year as the poor quality parts failed with the customers and the company here got shut down for a few years.
