I just watched your Leviathan EX countdown literally the day before this upload. To me, it's pretty much the most difficult ARR EX due to the amount of stuff going on seemingly at once (even though there is a fairly precise order in which they appear, and in which they should be resolved), and it can easily trip up new players. Many different ways to wipe.
For Ravana's proximity marker, it is a prox marker. I've been dumpstered by it on non-tanks a few more times then I'd like to admit, and it even dumpstered tanks when the fight was relevant content.
To add onto this with Leviathan, Tidal Wave did enough damage back in the day that the Elemental Converter needed to be at 30/100 to live, even for a Tank, which is why the meter changes color at that point. Gear has obviously shifted this a bit, but you ended up providing a perfect example of why people should try and get it closer to 30 anyway. XD
@@CaetsuChaijiCh Ok, so, after double checking, it's not quite as powerful as I remembered, but it would take a melee DPS from full to 25%-ish and likely kill a caster if too close. Maybe it's one of those weird mechs that does more damage on normal mode comparatively? The harsher gear sync for normal would definitely be an issue as well.
To answer the question, Leviathan's tail will reflect any magic damage. This includes DRK's abilities and NIN's mudras. I would also be wary of moving around too much if you're tanking the head. Head has a ranged cleave and typically tail tank handles adds and orbs, but if its working for you with no issues then it doesn't matter(plus probably safer if you aren't sure about the other tank with duty finder.)
Right that does make sense. The main reason I would step away from the head was associated with assisting with killing adds or orbs which clearly also was an issue here and there, but I'm glad my concern about stepping away from it wasn't unfounded! 😁
Way to go on leviathan! As far as res macros go, I think it’s very common that the healers that have them are also often bad, particularly if they are the condescending type. I really wish these just weren’t part of the game as they are aggressively unfunny and do nothing but call out players for dying in my opinion.
It's absolutely the worst when you die because of something the healer did, or failed to do- like not cleansing Doom on the first boss of Dun Scaith- and then you get some condescending 'teehee get up off the floor [name]' directed at you. I've had occasions where I just closed the chat box to stop myself from saying something unpleasant.
On the topic of res macros, including jokes makes it take longer for people to realize what you're doing and can annoy people, increasing the potential for toxicity. A simple "(res skill using the auto translation) " works just fine and is much less likely to annoy people.
I'm tempted to add a raise macro attached to my swiftcast as summoner, but considering I tend to use it preemptively when I see someone standing in a lot of aoe, it might look bad to announce their expected death a second before it happens...
That would be pretty funny though. It's a bit like when you stand in a dubious spot, and then you see the tanks give cooldowns to you. Like seeing that TBN is like "oh wait I guess I'm in danger!" 🤣
As a person freshly out of sproutdom - nothing builds up a fresh player's motivation as a mentor or obviously skilled player that keeps explaining mechanics instead of leaving, those guys seeing you finish Leviathan 1v1 must've had a sproutgasm :)
That is exactly why I also refuse to leave if there's any chance of success! While for me it might just be another day in Mentor Roulette, for them it was an awesome experience, and it makes it all worth it! 😄
Fun fact about the clams in Sastasha: they don't aggro unless you actually hit them. All they do is spawn the lights, but even then I'm fairly certain everything outside the boss arena De-aggros once the barrier at the entrance goes up. Also the tail in Leviathan more then likely will deflect the magic damage from edge of darkness, as I know the head will reflect Rdm's Fleche since it is unaspected and thus considered a range attack, meaning you have to switch to the tail just to weave it before switching back to the head.
A small correction is that fleche is a physical attack! But yes aside from that, thank you for the clarification! 😊 The explanation is that unaspected damage is magic but not elemental. If the attack just says it does potency (as in, it doesn't even state unaspected) then it is implied physical! Which, for whatever reason, applies to fleche, contre sixte, corps, engagement and displacement! And if fleche is reflected by the head, then that's all I needed to know! 😄
Raise macros are also often a shortcut. Allowing you to target specific players from the party list in a predefined order during hectic moments of combat. I graduated from using them but it's why they are used I think.
"Save" time from 2 clicks down to 1. Any other text than raising is really just to be obnoxious, same comes with gg macros or limit break. They crave the attention
Did you know that during enemy parties they tell you not to pull all packs "only a fool would engage both parties" then boss pack they panic when you pull everything and saying "take out as many as you can before you sleep with the giant." But later on saying "oh i was wrong about you." I always say those lines in a funny voice after reading that.
11:26 I think it's interesting that the shiny trail in the mobile version of FF14 leads people to the note if they have it switched on. Personally I think they should have made the corridor shorter but oh well, it's something, lol
I've also seen a big uptick in guildhests in the last couple of weeks 🤔I wonder if it's simply more people having more time to play due to the holidays, so there's less need to fill more 'regular' queues like levelling, normal raids, etc with mentors, and also there are more people around choosing to queue for guildhests for their own mysterious reasons. Maybe they've just been away from the game too long and had Bockman withdrawal!
For this series, would you be opposed to adding your starting and finishing mentor clear total? For example, "video start 505 clears, video end 515 clears"
nine times out of ten i rez the person my co-healer is macro-ing anyway because it's so slow. you *could* have a macro just saying that swiftcast is on cooldown, but i assume that if i haven't been raised yet anyway. chat macro's were only useful back when superbolide set your health to 1 and living dead killed you.
Can I say I just *love* the continuing bit of changing the names of Guildhests every time they come up? Never ceases to make me laugh.

I very much agree! I think both ramuh and king moggle mog are up there as well, but leviathan is certainly a challenge!
For Ravana's proximity marker, it is a prox marker. I've been dumpstered by it on non-tanks a few more times then I'd like to admit, and it even dumpstered tanks when the fight was relevant content.
Interesting! I was uncertain because of how little damage it ended up doing to me 😅

Yeah the ones that get particularly lengthy and silly certainly seem to miss the point of the macro in the first place! 😂

ive had so many people (even non sprouts) shocked that i just run through the clam area straight into the boss arena when i tank it

You are correct, I just mixed up Fleche with the enchanted melee combo which is unaspected.
Raise macros are also often a shortcut. Allowing you to target specific players from the party list in a predefined order during hectic moments of combat.
I graduated from using them but it's why they are used I think.
Based on the raise macros I've seen around, that tends to not be part of it 🤔 but that could be a factor! 😊
"Save" time from 2 clicks down to 1. Any other text than raising is really just to be obnoxious, same comes with gg macros or limit break. They crave the attention
That added sound at 3:34 before fall is just chefs kiss!
I had completely forgotten about that one, and had an extra laugh about it 🤣 thank you!
Got a big hearty laugh out of me, so thanks for that.

Oh yes I do! It's particularly funny because it means you try to pull the lever early and they go "oh no that would be absurd!" 😂
11:26 I think it's interesting that the shiny trail in the mobile version of FF14 leads people to the note if they have it switched on. Personally I think they should have made the corridor shorter but oh well, it's something, lol
On one hand, raise micro can clutter up the chat. On the other hand, they also why I know about the 5 second invuln on raise.
That is quite interesting! I suppose that does help if someone includes that in their macro! 🤔😊

Bockman withdrawal 🤣 yeah I'm not sure either!
I have my raise macro on my swiftcast, though mostly so I don't miscast raise (though it can miscast the swiftcast x,x)
surpanakha marker can be passed to other players, tank should take it
Aaah that explains. I feel like every time I've seen it, it was just naturally landing on the tank, but admittedly didn't see it many times! 😅
For this series, would you be opposed to adding your starting and finishing mentor clear total? For example, "video start 505 clears, video end 515 clears"
I could do that, although it might be a few videos before you see that because of the cadence of how I record them! 😊
Why are you not going to a corner with the exploding spumes? On several pulls of background footage you hit the entire party with them
Because the other chaos that is happening made it a little hard, so I sometimes forgot to move them to the edge 😅
