    Hello! I play as Rhaya'to Tayuun who you met in Vanguard! :D
    If you were curious what happened for the odd replacement gap - essentially our previous healer was having technical issues. Not overly sure on the specifics, but I think it was something to do with their graphics card dying? Something like that. They DCed for a bit to try and fix the issue, so we waited before taking on the first boss. Sadly it didn't seem to fix the issue, so they had to apologize and bow out. The Tank knew them personally - they were keeping me and the Pictomancer posted on what was happening - and by the sounds of it, our previous healer was very apologetic about it all.
    Still, it was really cool meeting you and playing the rest of the dungeon with you! Funnily, I took a few moments wondering if it was actually you or if it was someone with a similar name, then you joined us and I recognized the outfit. Probably why my hello there ended up as a 'It's you!' XD. Still, as I said before, I hope the rest of your roulette journey goes well! I really enjoy watching your videos :)

      Oh! Thank you for the rest of the story! That's super unfortunate for the healer 😰

      @@CaetsuChaijiCh Yeah, we felt super bad for them. I hope they managed to fix the issue in the end. Admittedly hadn't realized we had been in there so long when you joined us. lol

      Caetsu with everyone's feelings on his sleeve with how the rest of us feel with the average mentor.
      So many mentors, especially dps from what I've seen, goes as one because they get a lot of guildhests and that is easy even if bad, and goes quick because thye are not there for any other reason than poetics and the mount. Once they make it to 2000 you'll never see them again. They're rooting on sprouts going lowstakes guildhest for easy money and it's basically always tank and heal AiN because none want to sit half an hour in queue for guildhests

    Idk how you can pay attention to those cast bars when they're so tiny and above the bosses health bar. My first UI change for every character is to separate the enemy cast bar, put it above my own and crank that shi to 160% size. Best change I've ever made.

    the wing bois after the second boss in 97 is genuinely the second hardest doublepull in dawntrail, before the first doublepull in the 99 dungeon. Neither come close to wallpulling the first set of mobs on mt. gulg, but both sets of mobs have tbs on every enemy; That can stack hard and quick. I saw a PLD go from 95% to 10% in less than a second in the 89 dungeon.

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  8 часов назад

      Indeed! The fact those Bois do ranged tank busters make it difficult to get creative when things go sideways as well!
      Another one I would also nominate is the pull in worqor zormor with the bloodsuckers. They have an absolutely ludicrously strong tank buster, and just those two guys on their own are difficult to do for a lone tank! (which is a weird measurement I know! 😅)

    As far as I understand, the two cubes in the Post 2nd boss trash do a conal cleave on the tank as their standard attack. That is basically what you explained.
    But I'd say the better advice is to simply not stand infront of the cleaves!

    I've been noticing a lot of players who just don't seem to have a clue of what they're doing even in normal roulettes. Ofc I'm not expecting everyone to play amazing, but to at least press their buttons. Healers that don't heal, not mit clemency spamming paladins, dps who press maybe 30% of their damage buttons. Just got a blizzard 1/fire 1 black mage in the level 91 dungeon. It's been wild

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  13 часов назад +1

      I've noticed an increase in this too. My guess is that it can be twofold: many of the better players are reaching a point where they have less reason to run roulettes in general, and simultaneously, we recently had a major patch, which tends to call back many of the players that play in smaller bursts, which often can lead to them being worse (but not necessarily meaning they will be worse).
      It is pretty funny for me to try and figure out how far off you can be on a job, only for a rando in a duty to prove that I set my bar too low 🤣

    Hey Cae, i was thinking, since we're a bit after Dt release now, and it seems Square likes doing stuff like quality of life updates etc in mid expansion patches. I was also thinking that you would be kind of uniquely qualified for the job, since the only CC i can think of that does similar range of content and does it on youtube would be Rinon, and especially that you nurture an active community around the channel.
    So to come to the point, i think it would be a good idea to make a video talking about potential small change suggestions to game overall and in various duty types. Even better would be talking with community members that are specialising in particular content type and have greater insight.

    Never done Levi Extreme synced, but I have definitely made that mistake on hard - for some reason I only learned recently that you have to tank the tail as well ,always thought you just had to tank head and adds with the tail just serving as the target for physical ranged dps. No idea why, but I apologize to every healer that had to do that fight with me ^^ ... but it seems to be quite forgiving on hard since noone ever complained

  • @akiriith
    @akiriith 12 часов назад +1

    I'm just starting the video and am so called out by that start... LOL. first (and so far only) time I got Leviathan on my trial roulette (so second time I ever played him) i was a tank and I simply did not remember the details. I knew the tail took some kind of damage and the head took another but I wasnt sure if each tank was supposed to take one... bc usually on old content people just whale on things and they die and I have no idea when both tanks doing something is still necessary :')
    I basically stayed by the head with the MT after getting choice paralysis for a few seconds and I really wish someone had told me to take the tail, I would have in a heartbeat. I think they just sighed and continued on bc of the sprout symbol :') Thankfully bc it wasnt an extreme it wasnt a big deal (we wiped once bc someone hit the shield too soon), but I really want to *learn* things OTL. its something I noticed while going through the story (since I started following you I've gone through most of the expacs, recently unlocked the last area of EW!) is that people tend to kill everything on earlier levels fast and then complain when you dont know what to do when the game throws a mixed mechanic or a variation of that in higher level content... when I wasnt able to fully experience and learn from the easier versions. Thankfully, those experiences were very few and farbetween!
    (will be back later!)

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  12 часов назад +1

      Let's just say that this experience has made me much more aware of making sure the tanks know who's tanking what before engaging leviathan extreme! 😊
      A lot of the time, the older players just get used to things kinda just working out, and sometimes we can also forget about some thing we think is entirely obvious, is not at all to a newer player! 😅
      Simply being curious and willing to learn already puts you in a much better spot than a lot of players though! 😁
      The problem that a lot of old content gets steam rolled too fast is a problem I've Indeed noticed as well. Sometimes the first experience of a specific mechanic doesn't come up at all, so when you actually see it the first time it is much harder. Or it does happen but failing it does nothing so you have no idea what to do with that 😰

    • @akiriith
      @akiriith 12 часов назад +1

      @@CaetsuChaijiCh aaand done! that is very true in regards to just hoping it'll turn out okay, and it often does, but at what cost :') Thankfully I have a few friends I made in this game to answer my million questions, but I imagine if I was playing this solo (its my first and probably only mmo, I just prefer singleplayer games!) things would be so much harder.
      Speaking of, I laughed a bit when you got to Dzmael Darkhold bc level aside, that was me in all of ARR. I was playing dragoon and had no idea how the 12345 combos worked, and bc I had never played a MMO before, I didnt know to pay attention to my buffs. cue me almost never using my base 123 bc if they gave me the chaos trust one *surely* that was the better one (but I also remember thinking why didnt the full thrust combo go away then 🤔🤔🤔 "does that mean I gotta use it" LMAO). After I beat Ultima Weapon I finally decided to look up some guides bc this wasnt like most games I played where combat felt intuitive :'D I think shortly after I found your channel!
      At risk of making far too lengthy a reply (sorry for the wall!) this reminds me of a conversation I had with my mentor a couple of days ago. He often says that by lvl 100, people should know what they're doing and shouldnt be dying, and while I *do* agree (its been 5 expansions, come on lmao, even *I* am starting to sigh a little when I get stuck with a sprout who's very green, I just dont complain at all bc I get it), I think that looses a bit of the nuance as well. For example, take me, who have been powering through the story almost nonstop. I played each dungeon once, did each raid and trial once, etc. Its not like I had the downtime between patches to truly learn each fight. I dont think there's an easy answer for it. I do tip my hat to the devs tho, having to balance all sorts of players. That cant be easy :')

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  12 часов назад

      @akiriith at least, I still think your approach would have made more sense than the dragoon in that group! 😅
      Indeed, knowing fights isn't something that comes from just having leveled. It's perfectly natural that you'd need to see the more obscure mechanics multiple times to get it. That's also why I'm more focused on whether players have a basic idea of how their job works, than being hard on them for not understanding a specific boss fight, because the rotation is precisely something you gradually get more familiar with, or I'd at least hope so! 😂
      So if you sometimes have trouble with duties you haven't seen much, just saying sorry and saying you haven't done that duty much is usually all that needs to be said, and hopefully you can feel safe with whatever experience you have! 😊

    I will always fine it irritatingly fascinating the burdon of the crown in FFXIV.
    When you encounter a mentor in a duty, they seem to always come somewhat of an extreme of the 3 types of personalities.
    The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
    The Good will be doing their best to give advice or even just to keep the vibes up when they're not honestly sure. Sometime you get a mentor that if you listen they could probably guide you through an ultimate, and others just admit they don't know, but are happy to knuckle down and prog with you.
    The Bad are almost the biggest mystery to me. How do you complete all content in the game, unlock the mentor status, and be incapable of dodging aoes; of pressing mitigation; of using damage buttons as a healer. What weirds me out is I almost see these the most frequently. I had two today in ktisis hyperboria (87) that did less damage as melee dps on every fight than I did in lvl 80 gear as a white mage.
    And The Ugly are those who got the mentor title purely for their ego. To prove that "the can tackle any content and that's what the mentor roullette is designed for" when the reality is, you should never be in difficulty in content yourself, it's purely selfless to see others along and overcome new challenges. You can't avoid these people in life, but the toxicity of this type of mentor is the saddest part of the mentor system.

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  7 часов назад

      Indeed. The hardest part is that many of the bad ones would filter out if there were no rewards, and there were other "fancy things" you could pin to your name (instead of the crown). But if you remove the rewards, then even some of the most selfless players may not be able to find it in themselves to invest the time in Mentor Roulette over other things, that DO carry rewards. Unfortunately it also attracts those JUST there for the rewards 😅😰

  • @Viech54
    @Viech54 15 часов назад +1

    You talked about what you expect when doing mentor roulette. But what would you say should be expected of a mentor? For me, it is to at least try a few times and make a genuine attempt at helping the group with whatever it is they need. But in the end, a mentor is just one player and there can be numerous reasons as to why a mentor cannot help in a given duty or with a specific job. It is not always possible to hard carry a fight, especially extremes. That said, I want mentors to try before leaving, but if a group is not up for it, a single mentor might not be enough to change that. I don't queue for higher difficulty content, so it's never really an issue when I get mentors and 99% of the time I don't even pay attention if they have a crown or not.
    If I ever unlock mentor roulette (around 350 more comms, should do more things in DF than PF and maybe my dailies, then I'd get there), I'm not even sure if I just want it to be over faster (guildhests) to get to 2k (3k?) clears as fast as possible or want interesting duties. Likely a bit of both.

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  13 часов назад +1

      That is a good question! Personally I'd expect a mentor to try their best, be a good role model and be polite. I don't expect a mentor to be a god gamer or anything, and indeed, not all mentors can carry equally hard and that's okay.
      I actually made a video a while back where I explain exactly what a mentor is, which I believe I'm qualified to do, considering I've worked as an actual mentor in real life too! 😁

      I'd imagine they would be reasonably close. The main benefit I found in double sage was slightly more personal single target damage, and burst, with phlegma, and also the fact that you get to choose that all the kardia healing goes on the tank, where with sch, if either healer loses enough hp, the faerie starts to heal them instead, which is undesirable! 🤔😊

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  13 часов назад

      It depends a bit on the duty. Overall I think the best approach is to only do that in party finder by making your own blind group specifically, but some of the earlier extremes are pretty manageable if you have some general game understanding, so if you are quick to learn, most arr extremes for instance are probably pretty safe? But generally I recommend looking into the fight you're doing once the difficulty goes to extreme! 😊

The game also has an insanely lenient free trial (70 levels in fact, hundreds of hours of content), with no expiration date, so if you wanted to give it a shot, you could do that relatively safely. Although if you recognize you may have an addiction problem and difficulty handling it, it can sometimes be better to enjoy the game from a distance 😊
