This series includes Glitchy and my genuine first reactions to entering the Ashlands without much knowledge at all! This is not part of any other playthrough and is a standalone on a new world I created to help us quickly get ready and play with some Ashlands stuff as soon as it was released, since we didn’t have a good playthrough ready to join up and adventure in together! This is a series that Glitchy and I both recorded and made separate videos for our respective channels. Watch one or both videos if you want to see Glitchy’s perspective.

Used once the whole boss fight :(
I soloed this with Lightning Bow (lvl2) and 200 Frost Arrows (for ranged attacks which I did exclusively after dropping him to below 80%), the full Flametal Set, Lightning Sword + Shield (for melee opportunities above 80%), used the Feather Cape instead of the Ashlands ones, cuz, stamina, 2 Stamina foods + 1 HP food, Fire resist pots, A stack of Tasty Meads, Medium Stamina pots, Major HP pots.
The summoned charred I killed with his own AoE attack (the one that spawns spikes below you). Stamina management was paramount for me not dying. I did see a video regarding the fight beforehand so I knew what to expect and how to avoid getting owned.
For the big AoE, you must not sprint at all times, you have to pace yourself so you are just ahead of the attack in order to preserve stamina.
that fiery ground+spike attack (called Fissure iirc) is probably Fader's *most favorite attack* to use. I mean, bloody hell I lost count of how many times that beast *spammed* it against me in my fights with him. It does follow you, and it doesn't matter how high you climb up to avoid it, the spikes WILL reach out to you (learned that one the hard way). The meteors can actually be countered by the Shield Generator, BUT it quickly depletes the shield's fuel as it gets hit so be careful with that.
Last I checked Fader is no longer that vulnerable to Spirit-based weapons, but Poison and Electric ones do a ton of damaged against him. The ones that have the "nature" theme (poison+immobilize) is effective in particular, you can partially stunlock him if you use them right. "Blood" themed weapons also work great against him, but be sure to have lots of HP for the attrition. The most effective one I've used are *Frost* based weapons (like Frost of Staff and Mistwalker), but in the end its up to you. I won 5 out of my 7 Fader fights with the Arbalest+Mistwalker+Frostner combos. The last one I fought roughly 6 hours ago I finally used the new Ashlands weapons and oh boi they are very effective heheh.

Wow with the frostner!? It's so amazing how effective that weapon is. Didn't seem too great when I tried it but I barely gave it a shot. Just felt like it did less damage but it was possibly also just my own bias. I should give it a real shot!
@@WafflesGamesProbably they likely changed something after the PTB, I noticed during my 4th Fader Fight that the Frostner wasn't that effective anymore, but since its Blunt and has knockback I still use it. Your best bet will be anything that has either Frost, Poison (and immobilize, trust me it works), and Lightning.
But again its up to you should you fight Fader once again. As for me 7 wins is enough lol, I have 7 Fader Trophies now heheh

What a fight! Felt like 10.. minutes with how intense it was. Also probably felt like 10 hours once it was done!
Literally fought for (admittedly short Valheim) days!
It was appropriately rough! Just enough struggle to be fun and entertaining. Not enough to be misery the whole way.
That's why the devs went back to open arena, they wanted more adds. In the excitement one tends to hit the autopickup key too many times because the confirmation is delayed because too many things have been picked up already. Need a calm moment when nothing is happening, no message and then hit it one time, then get out there. I don't know if it's dumb or not that it resets with death but that what it do.

I also defeated Fader for the *7th Time* 6 hours ago.. It has been a great and satisfying Ashlands campaign! Glad to have witnessed your Ashlands adventure with Glitchy while also doing my own Ashlands adventure here, hahahah!

Since resistances(through potions) take more precedent over weaknesses you guys could've rocked the feather cape to help with jumping out of the fire circles as long as you guys had the fire resistance mead
Couldn't have predicted we'd need that. Maybe in hindsight. But damage negation was helpful with the ashen cape.
Tbf the stamina reduction perk of the ashen cape is pretty useful too so can't really fault its use

I sure don't consider the Ashlands conquered for me yet. I had a difficult time sussing when the fire or burning was bad and when it was quickly deadly. As with you guys there was too much going on to study anything. I died a couple times (melted my face right off just like in IJ and the Lost Ark) but that number must be zero!

I soloed this guy using the Scourging Slayer and Full Ashen Set. My Strategy was to just use the secondary attack on him every opportunity I get and just dodge everything. I used Tasty Mead to replenish my Stamina fast.

ohhh, didn't know the Tasty Mead can be used for stamina.. I used to ignore that one whenever I make potions lol
Actually, Yagluth is very useful for this fight as he mostly deals fire as opposed to physical damage.
No,fader do a lot of spirit dmg, so yagluth's power didn't help here.

It baffles me how our group (three of us) did this with no deaths the first time. The death loop here is brutal
Yeahhhhh i feel I could do it deathless now maybe but the first time is always rough. And an absolute joy.
Black beans are best. Except for all the others. Those are best too.
Baked beans are probably the best for flavor but black beans are so versatile haha
It is criminal that glitchy doesn’t go two eitr foods and one stamina. Much better combo as mages need to run and cast spells

Yes, very much. I myself exploited it by having multiple Shield Generators surrounding the boss arena. The shield fuel *quickly* runs out though as it gets hit by the meteors so watch out for that
Question, does glitchy think using blood magic will kill him? It takes a percentage of your health not a set amount I think but correct me if I’m wrong
I'm pretty sure he thinks it's a set amount, like when you are full health. And yeah, pretty sure too it's a % of your current health.
