    Thanks very much, very helpful. I had been through a couple of floods lately, and when I went out a couple of days ago , I applied the brakes and there was a loud sloshing noise and water appeared in the passenger footwell. I followed your guide and having removed the sill guard I removed the plugs. Over five gallons came out! Two brim full builders' buckets and a half full one!

      Glad it helped! Pleased this is still helping people, although I still find the design unbelievable for a Porsche car.

    Didn't any of the electrical components get messed up that are in the floor...? I have a lot of water and my mechanic says that there are wiring harnesses and DME etc components on the passenger side (N.A. model btw) my car won't start and he still has to get into the issue and remove the carpets etc, hasn't started the project yet.

      Thank you for watching the video. I am not sure I can help on that as my car was still functioning perfectly well and no problems with the electrics. The whole floor under the carpet back to the rear seating area was wet as well. Once we had drained the block, lifted and dried the carpets (using a hairdryer and parked in dry garage) all good. We have never put the rubber plug back in as will only get blocked again!

      Did you ever find out what happened and what needed replacing?

      this happened to my 2006 Porsche Cayenne S, went to the Porsche mechanic, they are bugging me! saying I have to replace the battery or starter motor, and they gave me quote and price is way too expensive, but luckily I called my brother who is a German motor mechanic @ MD, he came on weekend and checked, he checked both battery and motor, said both are in good conditions, once he pull up the front passenger side floor mat, he found wet and then he opened upper led of front right wheel side, then he pull the rubber gauge and suddenly dusts and water washed out so quick, and he asked me to clean and dry the floor mate, which I did and Walla! All Good to go.
      So my point and experienced telling you is, your car doesn't start again and again, because of battery wire harness is drain the floor water. so best way to clean up water and hose. good luck.

    Did you leave the plugs out when you put the sidebar back?

    • @larst9278
      @larst9278  3 года назад +2

      Yes I did leave the plugs out. Not sure if that is the right thing to do, but see no reason why not to. The sidebar track will stop anyting going up into the pipe but leaves enough gap for the water to flow out. Hope that helps

    Drainage Channels from Roof Bars can flood the footwells and from the hinge area of the boot water can flood the battery / spare wheel compartment.
    Insanity that the carpet foam is “Open Cell Foam” and not “Closed Cell” because the open cell foam stupidly absorbs all the water.
    Inanity that the carpets can not be simply dried as there is no ability to lift carpets out of the vehicle, an off road vehicle.
    Shame on Porsche and on VW for all these stupid water ingress issues making owners needlessly suffer.
