Do you need to ground this generator to use it as a back up for the house when the power goes out? I mainly want to have something to plug my refrigerator into during an outage, using an extension cord to the generator.
I own one of these and two of the predator 2000w inverters. Zero problems with the 2000w and only had to clean the 3500 jet once in 4 yrs due to sitting for 5 months. The battery sucks and the electric start is basically useless, but it cranks first pull ever time. Love them!
I love them too. Yes, the battery that China sends with it SUX! However, I replaced it after a year (it was completely dead) with a heavier battery (more CCA and higher AH's) and it works great.
The starter runs when you pull the starting cord? Something’s not right. Mine cranks fine with the battery and starts right up, same with pulling the starting cord.
I just baught a 3500 predator generator today at Harbor freight for $699!!!!! What a freakin deal on an awesome crazy quiet generator, and it comes with a 30 amp RV adapter plug and it's got a fuel gauge on top of the fuel tank. I love it...😍
@@ryanlawley5960 AWESOME!! Run an oil change cycles in it every 6 hours do it 4 times with a 50% load or 1,500 watts on it. Then you will be broke in good.
I believe Harbor Freight has really stepped up their tools. I remember the first time i stepped into their store, about 12 or 15 years ago they only offered Chicago Tools, then the China made Pittsburg tools. They weren't very good. Now they have Predator, Hercules, and Bauer tools and their pretty awesome. They offer just as good a warranty as you can get at any other Big Box Stores. Thanks Hank and Gina. The next time i need to replace my Impact Driver you can bet I'll be going to Harbor Freight and save myself 30 to 60 bucks.

Great video! Just got this generator and used it non-stop for a full weekend. No complaints. Just a note about your loudness test; Your results may be skewed since you are testing on a table and the vibration onto the table is acting as a transducer / amplifier. Like your wife, I was very happy how quiet this thing is and I'm sure my neighbors were to.
For the money it looks like a nice little generator . Good advise about running all your stuff that you dont use a lot . My advise I can add is if you have a generator then make sure you always keep four too five cans of fuel with stabilizer in them and use them up after couple months in other equipment then refill with fresh gas . No gas in stock at home for emergency situations does not do much good if you have a generator with no fuel . 👍
I purchased mine a couple years ago and the biggest thing I was worried about was the weight of it. I originally even thought of buying two of the smaller versions just so I could use them easier. Then I started thinking about it and realized man that’s a lot more oil changes a lot more maintenance a lot more parts that can break. I am beyond happy with this generator and I’m so glad I got to 3500. I actually got The propane conversion kit for it and it has worked like a dream. Now I can just use one of my cans of propane when I go RVing and can tap into my home line at the house when I ever need it for a back up generator to run small things like refrigerators TVs etc. as an edit all these 3500 kits come with the adapter needed to hook up to any RV plug. The other thing about this is it is extremely quiet. Videos do not do it justice just how quiet this generator is. In a typical RV park once you get about 10 to 15 feet away you can’t even hear it running anymore which is insane.
I was VERY near the Smith River Complex fire, (only stage 1) but had no power for my fifth wheel home for a week. I had to drive 2.5 hours up into Oregon to find a inverter generator..but what a wonderful emergency backup. Predator 3500 is great! Installing the provided starter battery was the biggest pain, but I got it done.
I just got one of these for well under $800 with a coupon. Have yet to really use it. I did test it and it fires right up and is very quiet. It also looks to be built really well, lots of insulation, and it feels solid. Now waiting for the next power outage. And yeah it is really heavy. It has a fuel gauge on top. What's nice too is the display can give you watts, amps, hours.

Could you use this inverter type for occasional home power outages? We'd mainly need it for our typical two-door home refrigerator-freezer (maybe 1300-1600 starting watts). We've had several outages in a short time and are tired of throwing out our food. Good review, thanks.
some people use it for portable ac in semi trucks its nice because when its outside chained to frame, it reduces decibels to 50 or so so it gets comfortable to sleep.
Other reviews that I have seen on this and other generators as well is that folks have run it for an hour after buying it. Drained and changed the oil, Regardless if there is any metallic residue or not. Run it again and then drain and changed it again. I can't believe the thing wouldn't start with the electric starter. You act like that is no big deal. Wait until you have to have it repaired then tell us what it cost or how many days it was out of service. For many people, the electric start is one of the reasons they would buy it. You make a great video and I like your wife's comments. You also took the decibel reading when it wasn't under load which is much louder.
Only two minor problems with this. 1 it's 100 lbs dry about 115 wet. 2 it comes with an rv adapter so you don't need to buy one. Also the new ones have a float type fuel gage on top.
Sounded like the starter was not engaging. The throw out gear is probably stuck. I would like 2 of them and pair them together as 3000 is quite enough for our large trailer. I looked online the other day and harbor freight had them for $799.00 crazy they are $1029.00 on amazon. I had a Honda eu 3000 and they are really about the same thing.
If you watch Harbor Freight regularly, they’ll have it on sale for under $700. I think I gave around $650 for mine. Also, it came with an adapter for the 30amp camper plug.
People do have to be aware that a lot.of companies use the surge rating as the model number. You have to look in the specs on their website to see the run rating. Sound like you might need to replace the bendix since I'm sure it worked okay before you used it.... or give it a wack with the plastic screwdriver.
One of the reasons I might buy this unit, is because it has electric start. After watching him try to start it with it...I don't think I will be buying it now.
Kind of late to this party with my question, but here goes...I'm not versed in running generators, never have done it, can these run in an enclosed space (basement) without being vented, or do they need to be vented? Say, while you're sleeping overnight? If not, I'm guessing they should be run outside.
lmao if you enjoy being alive do not run inside with no ventilation same goes for any thing with a fuel burning engine ps i hope your alive to see this
AWESOME inclusion of SPL app (Decibel Meter). Wish others included this CRITICAL component. I don’t trust vids that just regurgitate what’s written on the box. Would love to find one that uses an oscilloscope (?) to ‘prove’ the Sine Wave claims. I insist on True Pure Sine Wave for my computers. Thanks for the vid.
Just an idea i did and didn't see anyone in 30 videos i saw do. Lol Buy harbor freight roll cart with handle that fits perfect with predator. Make a rectangle hole where oil would fall through for oil changes. Then put predator on top with 2 ratchet straps. Lock wheels. Put 2 small brackets to keep predator in place. Alot easier to roll over any surface. Elevating predator keeps air filter way cleaner. You'll never have to take off predator off the roll cart. On sale costs 21 bucks. Trust me a lot easier mobility and to work on. Your welcome lol jk
The harbor freight ad says it runs at 56db... 30db extra doesn't sound like a lot but 70 percent higher noise volume is quite substantial when you are looking for a super quiet generator.
I have one, on top of the generator there is a window. It sorta shows your gas level with the red plastic thru the window. Also I think the starting battery was low on that one that's why it didn't start.. I really like mine too..

This made me buy a sure can thanks! lol
I have one of these and it's great. Mine has a gas Gage right on top of it?
Thanks for watching 👍
Can it be running while driving long distance in truck ?
@@Lexusgx550 if it’s outside for exhaust why not.
Great content thank you 👍
Would those wheels bust if it was dropped and landed on the wheels? You said you can upgrade the wheels?
I would assume so
Will this power my 32 ft trailer?I need help tell me what you think
Depending on what all you're running, but it should
Wasn't the output indicator the fuel gauge or tells you many hours left?
I can't believe the thing wouldn't start with the electric starter. You act like that is no big deal. Wait until you have to have it repaired then tell us what it cost or how many days it was out of service. For many people, the electric start is one of the reasons they would buy it. You make a great video and I like your wife's comments. You also took the decibel reading when it wasn't under load which is much louder.
We bought a Champion generator when the storm came through and we love it.
We bought a Generac when the storm came.
We have a Champion we bought at Lowe's we use with our camper and it has been great for 5 years now
Only two minor problems with this. 1 it's 100 lbs dry about 115 wet. 2 it comes with an rv adapter so you don't need to buy one. Also the new ones have a float type fuel gage on top.
Thanks for correcting Hank. He must be really strong saying it only weighs 50 lbs.
I've owned one for the past year. Great generator. Change the oil and spark plug regularly.
Thanks for watching 👍
How often do you suggest? Yearly?
Sounded like the starter was not engaging. The throw out gear is probably stuck. I would like 2 of them and pair them together as 3000 is quite enough for our large trailer. I looked online the other day and harbor freight had them for $799.00 crazy they are $1029.00 on amazon. I had a Honda eu 3000 and they are really about the same thing.
Right on. That's good that the price is cheaper. I'll have to see what's up with that starter. Thanks for watching Brian.
If you watch Harbor Freight regularly, they’ll have it on sale for under $700. I think I gave around $650 for mine. Also, it came with an adapter for the 30amp camper plug.
@@bigjack6015 👍 yeah they always have some really good coupons too.
good deal ill def keep an eye out for a sale . especially with black friday coming up .
SLC Farms they’ve got them for $689 next Fri, Sat, and Sun.
People do have to be aware that a lot.of companies use the surge rating as the model number. You have to look in the specs on their website to see the run rating.
Sound like you might need to replace the bendix since I'm sure it worked okay before you used it.... or give it a wack with the plastic screwdriver.
Good info, from a good ole boy with a jag in the shed 👍
Thanks 👍
One of the reasons I might buy this unit, is because it has electric start. After watching him try to start it with it...I don't think I will be buying it now.
Yeah,I'm not sure why it didn't work🤷🏻♂️ thanks for watching
Starter wasn’t engaging motor. I have one and that is not what electric start sounds like when working.
Oh my goodness...how cute are y’all!!!! Thanks for the great info 😊
Thanks for taking the time to watch and make the comment. I truly appreciate it! Have a good day.
could you use this to back feed into the home as well?
I don't think it's big enough for that
Kind of late to this party with my question, but here goes...I'm not versed in running generators, never have done it, can these run in an enclosed space (basement) without being vented, or do they need to be vented? Say, while you're sleeping overnight? If not, I'm guessing they should be run outside.
It will need to be ran in a well vented area. I personally wouldn’t run it inside. But that’s my decision
lmao if you enjoy being alive do not run inside with no ventilation same goes for any thing with a fuel burning engine ps i hope your alive to see this
AWESOME inclusion of SPL app (Decibel Meter).
Thank you for watching 👍 we appreciate it!
This is not even a review.....you need to load, measure voltage current. Frecuency x quality of the sine wave etc ......
Can't believe you didn't include if you recommend this for a power outages back up for home. After a severe storm and being with out power for 8hrs +
I learned one thing from this video.
I'm glad I bought a Honda.
Thanks for watching
New subscriber! Tks for the vid i was just looking at this generator... great generator i think but i may go solar🤔
We have got some good items from harbor freight. That generator is pretty quiet. Thanks for sharing. Have a good one
We like shopping there. We buy a lot of stuff there.
I'm interested in using this along with the Titanium Flux 125, if my math was right this one should hold the power draw.
I live in Miami and looking for a decent generator that can power a standard fridge/freezer and portable A/C unit simultaneously. Would this be ideal?
I would think so,but I'd be inclined to go a size bigger. 👍
Hell yeah
I think you'll be fine on the 3 appliances. What did you end up doing?
Thanks for the review man. This video was awesome too!🤠
Thanks Alexander. I appreciate it 👍
Just an idea i did and didn't see anyone in 30 videos i saw do. Lol
Buy harbor freight roll cart with handle that fits perfect with predator.
That's a great idea for it. Thanks 👍
It sound like your electric starter was not engaging the flywheel.
Thanks for watching 👍
I enjoyed your review! Thanks and I’m now a new subs.
Thank you. We appreciate it 👍 welcome
Did you synchronize your app with an actual dB meter?
No
Can it run a small 500 BTU 115 volt window AC unit? And for how long?
Im not sure.
I run a 8000 btu AC on a Honda 2000i and it runs 12 hours on one tank of gas.
The harbor freight ad says it runs at 56db... 30db extra doesn't sound like a lot but 70 percent higher noise volume is quite substantial when you are looking for a super quiet generator.
Right on👍
56 dB at 25 feet ! Not sat on top of it lol.
I have one, on top of the generator there is a window. It sorta shows your gas level with the red plastic thru the window. Also I think the starting battery was low on that one that's why it didn't start.. I really like mine too..
Thanks for watching 👍
