Happily, I am of an age now where I no longer work. Because I also believe she is an unparalleled problem solver so it would be entirely feasible to show her a job, explain what needs to be done then go about doing other stuff confident in her ability to shoulder the responsibilty and do a great job of things. @@ilookafterthewater601 l agree. I too am retired, doing what l love the most, working in my workshop making items out of wood. Like Tamar, l build them to last a lifetime. This is what l like about her projects, she puts pride into her work.
I love how with a shop full of expensive tools , she is by no means a tool snob and has no problem highlighting and promoting more affordable options that are capable of doing the job! Kudos Also the projects and video are great but her content always is.
I remember watching your early videos and you worked from a humble shop producing great work. Your now shop is just stunning, and you still produce great work. Brilliant, really happy for you.
A great video with a TON of good gift ideas! So many, in fact, that I'm amazed you published this as a single video - it easily could have been two, possibly three, shorter videos. You outdid yourself - some projects have 3D printer files too! Thank you very much.
Love the trivets. I made five of the hexagons and two of the second trivet (the popsicle sticks). For the second trivet, I took what seemed like a simpler approach to step two. I took the first two pieces, interlocked them, and placed them on my crosscut sled against the fence (the longer distance between the ends against the fence). Making sure the blade kerf was aligned through the center of the X, I set the blade to one third the width and made multiple passes to clear out the width of the third piece. Then I was able to place the third piece in the cutout and mark it for its cuts. Thanks for the great ideas and inspiration.
When making that third trivet I saw the fanciest stop block on you're miter saw that I've ever seen ( around 11:44 ). I can build almost anything from a plan but people like Tamar's creativity never ceases to amaze and impress me.
great video. I especially like the tray at the end. It is nice to do projects that don't require any measuring or fine cutting. YOu just make it till it pleases your eyes.
this is the first time I ran across your videos... I really like the way you approach a project... thanks for sharing, I am looking forward to seeing more. I am sharing this with others, who I know, will appreciate all the valuable information. Thanks again for sharing
What all these professional woodworkers call 'scrap wood' I need to buy those pieces. It is easy when there are leftovers that your clients have paid for.
@ It would be cool to do a content creator scrap bin challenge where we all have at least 1 up to 3 ideas in a video then we each share them all together in a playlist. The viewers would then get upwards of a dozen or so ideas and potentially more. I would be interested in doing it. 👍
Love all the builds!! Inset magnets for the salt and pepper shakers would have been nice so they don’t fall out when being moved around with the napkin holder.
I love the new version of the bread slicing board. The original project was the first of your videos that I watched, so it's near and dear to my heart. My skills have advanced significantly since then, and I'm going to make a few of these as gifts. Thanks so much for this video!
Dust hose tip: make an adjustable bracket with an arm at the top. Attach the hose to the arm so it's above the router and you won't have to keep stopping to untangle the hose. I use mine when cutting juice grooves and mainly when sanding so the hose doesn't hang off the bench and weight is eliminated.
@@RealMe-f6q I don't know how to add a photo here. I replaced my Harbor Freight DC bag with a big filter. I used the arm that held the bag up. I put a hole in a piece of scrap wood for the arm to slide up or down to a desired height. A threaded insert and bolt tighten into the arm to hold it in place. My hose and cords are suspended from the arn and held in place with a loop of zip tie. Woodsmith magazine had built a wooden arm that I copied the idea from using spare parts. They may have plans available.

@3x3CustomTamar thanks for the lesson and gift ideas! -I really like the hexagon trivet with the ends still attached for bigger casserole dishes! You could make a set of one with and one without the ends. -If you made multiple cut off trivets and glued them in a stack...hollow out the inside and create a lid...it would be a cookie jar or without a lid, a utensil holder! -The nut tray was cool. You could leave a post in the center of the top bowl, drill 2 holes for the handles of a nut cracker tool. -I really liked the bread board! A 2 tone dowel top would be a cool option! -You could easily slice the trivets horizontally to make inlays! I know the star of David is important to you. How about using it as an inlay in a cutting board or table top? -You mentioned your kids need desks...how about going old school? (Pun intended...lol). When I was a kid we had the desktop attached to the seat and under the seat was a drawer. The way the desktop was attached to the seat back created an arm rest for the writing arm. It was a genius design because the seat was rounded out for the butt and legs, slightly sloped down towards the front for comfort. Some had a "juice groove" on the front edge to hold pencils. You could do a special tray with a cup holder, a writing utensil cup and a phone/tablet holder! - You said you really liked the organic tray but the grinder was really hard on your hands. I totally agree. You can get burr bits for rotary tools that will give you the same affect but easier on the hands. I love watching your channel! You are easy to follow and I love that you give alternative options! You inspire me so I hope you don't mind the suggestions I give...just my way of paying you back with inspiration. I look forward to seeing the desk videos...*please, pretty please *. You mentioned in a previous video you liked sitting in front of the drill press. When you make your drill press stand...make it high enough for a stool underneath! You could turn the stool itself into storage for the drill bits, etc! Make dovetail drawers in between the rungs. That would be unique! Now that I thought about it, I will probably do one for myself.
Tamar, I truly LOVE your work and your growth as a woodworker AND a videographer has leapt dramatically over the last two years. Did I mention design skills? Well that seems to have always been there - it just reveals itself more and more with each project. Now, about using a Laser printer to put logos and other designs on things - you could watch people like Sam at Samcraft, the guy at Shop Nation, or maybe even Honey Badger but you do you...
Love it, T! You are an absolute boss! I've been watching for years and your capabilities as well as your skills and design ideas are second to none! FWIW, I made some salt & pepper shakers a while back and used "finger pulls" that are made for pocket doors or sliding cabinet doors. The stacked bowls are very fun but definitely need to be food safe for both - cause in my house, there's going to be chips in the bottom one and salsa in the top one! Great projects! Thanks for the inspirations and direction! Off to the wood bin!
I already made 2 trivets few years back based on you 3 way bridle joint. I going to give it a try with the hexagon shape this year (more convenient to use than others I made). Thank you for all these great ideas !
Another amazing video! I love the 3D joinery, and the way you solve problems midway into a project. This is inspiring me to do something with the ton of hardwood scraps I have out in my garage.
Hi again, Tamar. I look forward to this video every year. Thanks so much for the great ideas. I like how creative you are with routers. I really need to use mine more often.
Awesome! The pull out tray for the bread cutting is what I have planned for the base of a bread box i hope to build when I get around to it. Great gift ideas, Tamar!
Hearing you say “noshing” makes me miss my Nana so much 🥹 it was one of her favorite Yiddish words. These are great ideas. Love the bread board… we’re a family of bagel lovers and this would be perfect! All those sesame and poppie seeds get everywhere 😆
These are great! I am definitely making some hexagonal trivets this weekend. However, because I'm a huge nerd, I might throw some sort of base underneath them, and give them to my Dungeons and Dragons buddies as dice trays.
A couple things hit me as I watched this inspirational video- 1) You’re very analytical with a creative edge. You might have missed your calling as a mechanical engineer. 2) You gotta’ have scraps of paper everywhere with woodworking ideas you muster up. 3) I am soooo thinking about getting Bambu 3d printer, because of your previous video. Happy Holidays.
I really like the use of the different colors of wood, especially on the star, it turned out so good. For your corner template you made for the napkin holder, you might look for the 3D printed versions I have a pretty good set from 4" down to 1/2" (I think) diameter.
Great projects! Looks like a new direction in your journey could be getting a lathe. Several examples in the video are very well suited for turning. Combining flatwork with turning opens a bunch of creative doors. Could be a new adventure!!
I really like the trivets, and the hexagon one looks doable. My brain doesn't work very well in 3-D, so it will be a bit of a challenge. But thanks for the start!
Nice set of projects Tamar. If you decide to make those trays and sell them, I suggest you get a CNC and have it do the bulk of the carving. Then you finish it off with the scraper. Your hands will thank you for it. Unless that is, you want to build up the strength in your grip.
I like your narrow crosscut sled. I made my main crosscut sled using the JKM’s kit with the fences precut but I added the Matchfit dovetail grooves in the base. Being able to use the dovetail clamps to hold the stock saves time as I don’t need to affix the pieces with double stick tape. I am also not a fan of those grinder ball gouges- they can really get away from you when you’re grinding at an angle. Another way to do this would be to make a template for the organic shape board project and use the bowl bit with your router jig.
I love it! I've been toying with the mogens for a while, but never got more than cute little wall hangings or necklaces (scroll saw). HOWEVER< I love the half lap idea. I have several wood and resin as well as glue up bowl blanks that should be ready this weekend (and I do have to have them all done in about 4 weeks), but I really want to try the mogen meathod you tried. Thank you for the inspiration!!
Awesome. Yeah, I’ve only done Magen David inlays in the past, which was a lot easier to figure out. I still want to figure out how I could keep it as a puzzle though!
Good luck with that. The flat stuff is ALWAYS easier. That being said, I've got some trial runs with tzedakah boxes and mezzuzahs (involving glass) on the lathe. If I can get it right (which means I need to find time), it will be FANTASTIC!

Glad you like them!
Great projects! Looks like a new direction in your journey could be getting a lathe. Several examples in the video are very well suited for turning. Combining flatwork with turning opens a bunch of creative doors. Could be a new adventure!!
Thanks! I definitely want to get a lathe…
very good projects I will try to make the cups for the pistachios and the last one
Have fun!!
Great projects and another excellent video. I think I like the star trivet the best but they are all cool.
Thanks so much! I love that trivet too ☺️
I really like the trivets, and the hexagon one looks doable. My brain doesn't work very well in 3-D, so it will be a bit of a challenge. But thanks for the start!
You can totally do it!!! Have fun!
Yes love the last one the most
It’s so fun, that’s my favorite too ☺️☺️
Brilliant video! Fantastic ideas!
Glad you like them! Thanks!
Great video and projects. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much! Glad you like them
Very well done. That * trivet was crazy
Thanks! Ha, yeah, it was a lot of fun to figure out
Great video as always! I’ll be making several of these projects.
Awesome. Have fun!!
Nice set of projects Tamar.
If you decide to make those trays and sell them, I suggest you get a CNC and have it do the bulk of the carving. Then you finish it off with the scraper.
Your hands will thank you for it.
Unless that is, you want to build up the strength in your grip.
Thanks! Yeah, cnc would definitely be easier. But maybe I love it so much because I know all the work that went into it. Ha
@@3x3CustomTamar 😎👍
Very fun and ingenious projects, Tamar! But your definition of "easy" is not the same as mine!!! ☺
Haha, i think any beginner can tackle these!
Hi Tamar! You are the best of best!!
☺️☺️☺️
Well, I don't what else to say, but, Wow, just Wow.
Hopefully that’s a good wow. Ha
Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
You are absolutely amazing.
☺️☺️
I like your narrow crosscut sled. I made my main crosscut sled using the JKM’s kit with the fences precut but I added the Matchfit dovetail grooves in the base. Being able to use the dovetail clamps to hold the stock saves time as I don’t need to affix the pieces with double stick tape. I am also not a fan of those grinder ball gouges- they can really get away from you when you’re grinding at an angle. Another way to do this would be to make a template for the organic shape board project and use the bowl bit with your router jig.
It’s a temporary sled until I build an “ultimate” one. It works fine for now. Ha.
A template would be a great idea
It could be so easy. Thx for sharing 👍
👍👍👍
Awesome work Tamar!
Thank you! 😊
Awesome ideas beautiful work
Thank you so much 😊
I’ve missed these! Thank you
More to come!
Excellent ideas, great video.
Glad you like them! Thanks!
Всегда приятно смотреть😊
☺️☺️
@@michaelross8794 sounds cool!
I don't know about cool. Once done, and donated to my Temple gift shop...well, we'll see what other say.
Great video. Thanks for the ideas.
Glad you like them!
Trivet #3, be careful not to circumcise it. Lol
