I don't know how you seem to be some on-the-job learning amateur like the rest of us, but produce absolutely pro-level work at the same time. Absolutely love watching you work!
Jigs. Lots and lots and lots and lots and LOTS of jigs. LOL. Seriously, Tamar - you could make a living just selling jig patterns for some of your stuff!
I agree 100 percent. Really enjoy your videos. I just have to laugh though! I know you’ve heard it 1000 times but the way you pronounce draw sounds so wrong to me. lol
I believe a lot of it is that Tamar is *not* really an amateur anymore but she privileges clarity of explanation over signaling her expertise through use of jargon, which I love! Lots of guys (it’s usually guys, alas) feel they have to learn to talk the talk even if they can’t walk the walk, and thus being clear and using layman’s terms is, they believe, disadvantageous to getting ahead in a commercial space. Overconfident use (and misuse) of technical language is a shortcut some can use to move up the ladder. Tamar, as I understand it, entered woodworking as a hobbyist and thus didn’t have pressure to project authority through talk or posturing. That’s my guess!
Holy moly. This was quite a project and then some! Every stage seems deceptively simple, until you realize how many jigs, preparations and small steps it takes to complete seemingly straightforward parts. The end result shows your skills, dedication and hard work.
Your skills seem to be growing by leaps and bounds as I’ve been watching the channel. It is great to see the work-womanship along with tool upgrades and workspace that you’re utilizing to take on such wonderful work. I remember the ol’ DeWalt table saw days not too long ago. It’s all great to follow and see. Happy New Year, may it be successful for all of us.
What a wonderful mom you are. Your kids will have beautiful furniture pieces that will last a lifetime and that they can pass down to their kids or grandkids one day.
I’m just imagining of how great it would be owning a desk, made by your parent, that will last a lifetime. And a build video to go with it. I’m sure she will cherish it. Amazing work 👏🏻
I’ve used both kerf bending and veneer layering to create bow front drawers. I prefer the veneer layering. It requires milling up your own thick veneers but it eliminates the need to hide the kerfs. In the end, it’s just a preference. Your work is beautiful and your great granddaughter will be proud to have that piece of furniture someday. Love your router jig and table by the way. It transformed the way I use a trim router!
It’s such a joy to watch someone do exactly what they love while also being the best fit for the job! That’s you!! The way your mind works 10 steps ahead and how you solve for potential issues is amazing. Fantastic job! I’ve never been interested in a 3D printer before but you’re making a very compelling argument!
Very impressive…..what a stunning piece! I am going to make a desk for my daughter as well and a dresser for my son. As I said in an earlier post, you have inspired me to get back into woodworking…..thanks! I am thinking of a 3D printer as well and I like how many things you have created from yours.
Lucky children, well cared for by a dedicated Mum (Mom) who puts her skills & time cater to their desires. Excellent work, excellent product, wonderfully simple looking but what a great addition for working, studying, computing & making up upon? Thanks for sharing your skills & versatility. From Down Under (Australia)
After building a few kayaks and canoes with curved wood, I quickly learned that an inexpensive Dewalt electric heat gun works great to bend wood. With your kerfs and 10-20 seconds with a heat gun and they would bend nicely. Nice job. Thanks for the video
This is awesome - my wife bought a desk from this line from west elm and to be frank, the quality was so poor we sent it back. Cool to see what it takes to do right.
Gorgeous desk. I also appreciate how you don't hide your mistakes. It makes this video more real versus the magic of editing and bam, a perfect drawer. Ty
Fantastic build! You motivated me to get a Bambu and I splurged and got the X1C. I’m loving it! After buying your dog hole jig, I’m now in a position to buy your file to print the hinge for the cross cut table. Going to try ABS first. Thanks for all the inspiration!!
I like this channel because you can clearly see improved skills throughout the years. Unlike others where it's just, "Pocket screw this, pocket screw that" and the project turns out a minor step above box store furniture. Great job
Love this project...It's absolutely gorgeous...as always! The only thing I would do differently would be to cut the slot for the drawer bottoms, into the fronts, before kerf bending them. Then you wouldn't have had to tinker around as much to get them to fit.
You are more than a woodworking. You are a creative artist with a gift to present the material in a way that is straightforward and very interesting -- love how you look at the camera and just smile like I nailed that!! :)
A resounding "YES!" to the question you posed :-) That desk turned out great. It's amazing to see not only the craftsmanship but the ingenuity behind your process. That makes you stand out so much.
Tamar, I really enjoy your creativity, work ethic and positive attitude. Your videos are always a treat, and your finished product looks amazing, as always. I hope the duration between videos lessens as we miss you when it takes too long before you post another.
I love your videos, you take us through the whole process with just the right amount of detail. I have been following you for a long time and I am really jealous of your new shop! Dan
What a great project Tamara! Well produced video too with so much packed into it. I hope your kids appreciate what an awesome and talented mom they have. One thought about glue and the runout you had on the curfs - I notice John Heinz uses PL glue quite a bit as it is very strong but also not very runny. But you found a solution. Happy New Year, and as always, thanks for your videos Tamara.
You are so incredibly smart! I am always so impressed by how you figure things out. I wouldn't have the slighest idea how to approach a build like that.
Amazing work! Not only is the video well edited and the voiceovers on point but also the desk itself turned out great despite the complexity of the shapes and the techniques required to get it right! I love how you went to the store to see how the fronts were mounted on the drawers😂 Amazing work again and keep it up you are truly an inspiration!
For the times I needed to measure the length going around curves, I keep a tailors tape measure handy. I used to use just a small metal tape measure until one time it broke and gave me quite the cut. Still amazes me you don’t do commission work, your end results are fantastic!
Another beautiful piece of furniture you produced and one your daughter will get endless hours of use out of. I pick up so many great tips watching you like using a handscrew clamp to ride along the table saw fence to hold an odd shaped piece of wood in position for cutting.....genius!!! I'm really wanting to get a Bambu printer after watching the video's of all you've made with yours. I don't have space for one but need to figure something out. Happy New Year to you and your family Tamar. Thanks for creating such great video's to inspire us all!!!
Wonderful project, and I enjoy your problem solving side tracks. They are every bit as instructive as the "main" content. Fluted cabinets and furniture pieces are really having a moment. Happy Hanukkah from another "Ima" 😊!
You are so freaking smart. I learn something every video and your care and passion shine through all your pieces. Thank you for sharing your skill and your self with the world.
I've done a ton of research on kerf bending to bend a very small radius for a console I built. It'll be much easier if you run hot water on the bend (you can use water straight from the faucet), it's kinda like steam bending since it'll relax the fiber more than just spraying water on it.
You are a skilled builder of furniture and I learn from your videos. But your designs are really really good! I don’t think I will ever develop that ability!
top notch, love your approach of bumps along the way. any problem is not a roadblock; you make it a challenge for your creative approach, and you do not hide the mistakes as they are your opportunity for teaching blocks. happy holidays..
Absolutly amazing Craftsmanship! Really very nice work! I hesitate trying this because I know I'll screw it up somehow …..haha. I enjoy seeeing your innovativeness to overcome the "how do I do this” challenge! Congratulations to your daughter. I hesitate going down the 3D printer rabbit hole. I know I’l get stuck in there! Happy New Year!
Great job! Loved the desk and enjoyed the video. The only suggestion I would make is to use rift/quarter sawn white oak on the hole project. I think the grain looks really good on the half rounds and would look very good on the top of the desk as well.
Beautiful as always, made to fit in with her gorgeous bed using my newer and favorite finishing Osmo in the raw. My favorite is learning another incredible and often simplest technique that somehow you figured out effortlessly and really more than one or two in this build! I appreciate your detail in sharing the majority of the build and solutions because I take away a lot! I’ve used your solutions more than once and always appreciate I have you as a reference! Awesome job, now can you rebuild your table saw dowel making sled so I can see how you did that? Thanks always
That looks amazing! Watching your videos is making me want a 3d printer more and more. The fixtures alone seem to make it worthwhile. Great job on the desk!
That is a lovely dresser! You should be quite proud of yourself! As always, lots of cool tips and tricks. I got a good bonus laugh seeing you have embraced the "draw" for your pull template! :D
Good God, that's amazing! As are you. I love your content from both the work itself to the way you present it. Shortest half hour I ever spent on RUclips. Kol ha'kavod!
Only thing missing is a keyboard pull out tray! The desk came out gorgeous. You didn't cut any corners. All real hardwood. Lucky daughter! Merry Christmas!
Congrats on a superb project- really impressive results. Re: cutting octagons, Mike Pekovich at FineWoodworking uses and L-fence attached to the table saw fence on the opposite side of the blade to make those much, much safer. Given that you're the queen of jigs (profile sanding the 80 half rounds- super clever!), this seems like the kind of thing you might try.
I can't wait to see you test printing in TPU. It's flexible and one use I've found is making my own desk grommet. Haven't tested it yet in situ, I need to actually make the desk first. Oh, for inspiration, I know Alexandre Chappel (another RUclipsr) has a bunch of 3D printing stuff for woodworking, including a range of metric and imperial roundovers
So challenging project and you made seems easy, your skills are growing and your wood working experience... Wish you and your family happy new year thanks for this amazing video

This way, you won’t need to cut notches, and you can easily insert and remove the bottom whenever needed. Just screw the drawer bottom to the back of the drawer underneath it.
I just did 18 drawer fronts for a customer. He wanted the cutout pulls to make a hourglass shape. Took me forever to get the look correct. 4 different jigs made. Your 3d template would have saved me Sooo much time. I actually get sick to my stomach when i think about buying a 3d printer and the learning curve. Honestly, I feel like i need to bite the bullet and get one. Im still using paper to draw out designs as im not good with computers. Awesome build, as always, Tamar. If you do go into production on that drawer cutout- jig id be interested.
@ when I was a kid I loved watching Bob Vila on the New Connecticut Yankee Workshop and I would marvel at how much he knew. You make Bob look like a slacker!
I haven't seen any of your videos in a while, last i saw you were bundled up in your un-insulated garage using a dewalt job saw and i believe a ryobi band saw. glad to see the youtube chanel is paying off. laguna sure seems to like it. love the video.
I had the same challenge when I tried kerf bending. Even though I used the same site to find the right dimensions, I still had to fill the slots on the ends. I like the tape trick. I'll use that next time.
Awesome job, Tamar! The desk looks awesome. A little off topic but are you able to share what flooring you have in your house? We are looking at options and yours looks great!
the table turned out great and the daughter's lamp choice elevated it even further! also what's with musicians and woodworking.. so many of my artist friends are also in the shop, haha
Thanks so much! She really had this vision, lamp included! I just brought it to life ☺️. And yeah… seems a lot of us woodworkers are also musicians. I don’t know why that is!
For those interested in 3-D printing, Bambu lab is rumored to be coming out with a new printer in the first quarter of 2025. It will have a bigger build volume, and two nozzles so color or material swaps will be much easier. I’m holding off until that is released before upgrading. It will be called the H2D.
Another great project, as usual. Of course, I love it any time you build “draws”. Hope you get a lathe soon, that table saw lathe seems pretty sketchy.
What a beautiful heirloom quality desk for your daughter. Masterfully executed. I would advise folks do a little more research before venturing into Hyper Tough territory. Hart is the better buy if you’re stuck with Wal-Mart as your only option.
I knew I forgot something!!! I LOVE that you labeled the drawer handle jigs, 'Draw Handles'. Woodworker, musician and comedian.
I don't know how you seem to be some on-the-job learning amateur like the rest of us, but produce absolutely pro-level work at the same time. Absolutely love watching you work!

A true wood MD. Nice to see someone figuring out a treatment plan and cure for wood glue bending hemorrhaging.
I’ve used both kerf bending and veneer layering to create bow front drawers. I prefer the veneer layering. It requires milling up your own thick veneers but it eliminates the need to hide the kerfs. Yeah, after doing both methods now, I totally agree with you. Thanks so much! Glad you like the jig!
I prefer it too. It will also make sure you don't have any flat facets or glue squeeze-out anywhere on the faces.

A steam iron is another great tool for bending plywood and veneers. I use a thin kitchen towel between the plywood and the iron. Good video!
Good tip!
This is awesome - my wife bought a desk from this line from west elm and to be frank, the quality was so poor we sent it back. Cool to see what it takes to do right.

Perfect.

I’m just here for the ‘draws’.
WOW !! you are an amazing woodworker with great communication skills on each of your projects
☺️☺️ glad you think so!
Really nice, Tamar. I like how you figured out each challenge as you went.
Bill
Thanks Bill, I'm glad you liked it!
Great job and I love your explanations !
So challenging project and you made seems easy, your skills are growing and your wood working experience... Wish you and your family happy new year thanks for this amazing video
Thank you very much! Happy new year!
Awesome as ever. I am so envious of your bench BTW! LOL!
Amazing outcome as usual
Hey Tamar,
It might be a good idea to make the back of your drawers the same width as the top of the groove for the drawer bottom. This way, you won’t need to cut notches, and you can easily insert and remove the bottom whenever needed. Just screw the drawer bottom to the back of the drawer underneath it.
That’s what I did the last time I used these slides. But this time I wanted the strength of the groove since I wasn’t attaching a front right away
Awesome build, as always, Tamar. If you do go into production on that drawer cutout- jig id be interested.
Good to know! Yeah, the learning curve was a lot, but so thankful I got over the hump
Awesome build. And the smile at the end when u were closing all the drawers. 😂😂😂.
Another awesome video I love watching your videos because you are such an great woodworker and problem solver keep up the great work you're awesome!
Thanks so much! I'm glad you're enjoying the videos!
Very nice. Happy New Year
a little handheld steamer can come in very handy for kerf bending (I found it allows me to leave more material, which feels less scary)
Draw pull😂!!!🎉
Makes me laugh every time you say it and love that you own it!
😂😂😂 but I’m just talking regular 😂
Long time I haven't watch any of your work..Your good at this thing 👍👍

Haha! You too!
I had the same challenge when I tried kerf bending. Even though I used the same site to find the right dimensions, I still had to fill the slots on the ends. I like the tape trick. I'll use that next time.
Glad you found it helpful!
