  • Ever since shooting the Mugen NSX-RR in 2009 I’ve been waiting for someone to replicate the JGTC/Super GT NSX race cars and run a longitudinally mounted engine.
    Esprit have done it to their twin turbo NSX but Alan Simoni of Simoni Racing stuck to the purist’s approach and kept things naturally aspirated.
    Find out how his 10 year build came to be…

    The Simoni Racing HQ is some of the best modern architectural design I've seen in a long time. Highly modernist without getting too heavy into brutalism. And I have to say kudos to Alan for building such an interesting NSX.

    I can still remember when Alan, one day on the track, told me that he wanted to do this madness of sequential gearbox and engine rotation! we were even thinking about a swap perhaps with an already turbo engine! this car is crazy! but I already know that the legendary Alan... will make it turbo sooner or later!! We are ready to fly 😂

    So sick seeing such a nostalgic legendary JDM piece of history car the NSX on its own then to upgrade it to a Rocket bunny NSX with 2piece TE37'S 👌 then build it it to an absolute Time Attack monster 👌 and it looks and sounds incredible what a car 👍

    Dino this is why your at the top for Car Culture content in my eyes every vid is always incredible cars and so entertaining to watch and what a great collection but that NSX 👌 amazing their such a nostalgic legendary piece of JDM history and that one with the Rocket Bunny kit the livery and of course the 2piece TE37's and cant forget the engine scoop just incredible and huge fan of those on the NSX and the Time Attack look its so crazy that its just a V6 and they competed and beat super cars and then to go and build it and change the engine position insane but seem like it works well and it sounds absolutely amazing 👌 specially when wide open and backfiring and shooting the flames what a car and as always nice job and keep up the great work 👍

    You can tell he is a real petrol head.
    That Clio 16V is in an amazing condition as well, love the wheels on it
    as well, you don't see that style too often these days.
    Its amazing the difference, shortening the rear end makes, kind of makes
    it look like one of those Can-Am racing cars, from back in the 60's 😉
    Its an amazing part of Italy around that area, I hope to get back over there again
    someday. The amount of businesses, dedicated to car manufacturing along with car parts
    and design, is just unreal.

    With a transverse mounted engine you can cancel out some of the angular momentum from the wheels/brakes/axles with the crankshaft/clutch/flywheel - which would be a significant technical advantage to the layout. The motor torque that twists the chassis is also oriented longitudinally, which will help handling stay about the same when you are on or off the throttle. Ever seen a FR drag car lift a front wheel on launch? That's the motor torque twisting a soft chassis/spring setup. A transverse engine (with the typical gearbox layout) won't do that, even with soft springs.

      @time603 2 месяца назад

      @dino_dc I see.. I missed that info in the introduction. NA sounds soooo good 👍
      I actually didn't know they turbo charged the Esprit car.. but increased power to weight ratio makes sense.
      Hey please don't take anything I write as being negative. As most of my information actually came from a certain DDC contributor to HPI and DB magazines in the naughties.. yes sir 👏 I am always learning from you in the world of cars, and not just JDM.
