When my husband and I were moving into our home, we had a bunch of friends helping us. Someone knocked on our door late in the evening and I opened the door. Two older women introduced themselves as the neighbors from across the street. They then informed us that our truck in alley was going to be ticketed and towed if it was not moved immediately. I asked why they cared they were from across the street. Besides we were not blocking the alley and no cop would ticket it as we were still unloading stuff to the basement. As soon as we were done we would move the truck.
The conversation went down from there, until I finally told them to get the f##k off our porch before I called the police on them for trespassing.
We lived there for 7 years and they didn't let up until the police themselves told them that they would be arrested for one more false report.

Our neighbor kept breaking the lock on my greenhouse and stealing my plants. Many of the plants I keep in there are expensive and a few have taken years of selective grafting etc to get where they are today. And yes I do bring them to the local orchid and rose competition so I do actually make some money off it. I overheard the neighbors having one of their backyard get togethers where one of their friends mentioned how she found a snake in her garden (which is where I learned the neighbors are terrified of snakes). We know it is them because they keep trying to put the plants in planters and whatnot, failing to realize that most won't survive outside the conditions in a greenhouse and again as they have been specifically grafted together they are their own unique design. These aren't plants you can walk into a garden store and special order. Many of them are now at the point where I can propagate them naturally and have a reliable line of that specific plant. I certainly have no problems stealing them back when I can. But to get on track again, a friend of mine breeds large snakes, we're talking 6-8+ feet long. They had been having a few shedding issues. My greenhouse is setup for a high heat high humidity jungle type environment. So as my greenhouse is sectioned I offered to move all of my plants to the back section and her pair of snakes could hang out in the front section with the trees and stuff they wouldn't damage or knock over.
Well ... Middle of the night we hear the sounds of someone being brutally murdered. Yep, the neighbors had again, broken the lock, and attempted to steal shit. Again. And found the completely docile but large snakes and had a meltdown. I might point out the fact that we had already called the cops on them, including video (which they ruled as inconclusive despite being perfectly clear and the lady looking directly at the camera.), Including a strait up confession to the cops face which they ignored. (We later found out that that particular police department was so lazy and corrupt that even other police refused to work with them and they had been blacklisted from the kind of things an organization might call police back-up for). So we trotted out with our cell cameras and recorded them as we called police dispatch again. This time they were forced to at least take her down to the station. But when they tried to pull the "we just let them off and we shouldn't keep snakes in OUR greenhouse on OUR property if we know the neighbors are afraid of them" crap we informed them that we were then going to post it on social media and the news outlets how they conducted themselves with the security camera footage from earlier in the week. Like guys, you caught them in the act on someone else's property behind a door that had previously been locked with a box full of plants that weren't theirs. How much easier do you want me to make your job? Shall I sit down with you and help you with the paperwork too? We never had to deal with Karen stealing my plants again. Other things though....

We had a neighbour let us know about our dog barking. We had no idea. The dog was really lonely during the day because our second dog had recently passed. We were so grateful to be told and were way more receptive because it was done nicely.

    • @hawkeyescoffee6399
      @hawkeyescoffee6399 2 года назад +4

Yeah, there are nicer ways to do it. I wonder if they'd tried that though and been ignored. My brother & his then wife got a springer spaniel, both worked during the day and had no idea she whined & barked while they were gone because she was so well behaved when they were home. Neighbours didn't knock and politely enquire about the dog or try to let them know about the noise...they went straight to calling the RSPCA, claiming the dog was being neglected & mistreated. So the first they knew about the pepper being lonely was when the dog warden turned up to investigate. Luckily, the dog warden was also a friend of our mum's and was likely more receptive to hearing them out than she might otherwise have been because my brother said she was incredibly pissed when she first knocked on their door (and I mean, if there had been a dog being mistreated that would have been fair).
When they spoke to their friends who lived 2 doors away they'd said she hardly ever barked even, maybe a couple times during the day but only for about 5 minutes or so. Still, the warden worked with them to find solutions to reduce the separation anxiety/loneliness, but also reassured them that a dog barking now and then was normal.
As you & my brother both found, you can't know what your pets are like when you're not home unless you have cameras or something, people don't like to think their pets might be unhappy and/or disruptive to neighbours.
Of course there are some owners who don't care when you tell them. I live in a block of flats, there's 12 flats over 3 floors, so people come and go a lot but it's not crazy busy. There's a couple in the middle floor who have this little dog who can bark louder than you would expect looking at him, and he barked whenever he's home alone (they don't seem to work a full time job either of them so it's jot a consistent daily thing though), he barks if someone goes past their door (which given the doors are in a stairwell that's unavoidable), and his reaction to the postie sounds terrifying even from where I live on the opposite side of of building and a different floor. People have told them several times in a nice way about how the dog barks and that maybe they should close him in the living room away from the door, but nope. They just don't care, they don't believe they should do anything to reduce it because it doesn't effect them, since they're usually not home when he's barking. As annoying as it is, though, I'm not heartless enough to report them to the landlord or RSPCA, because I'd feel awful if he was taken away.

You are a good and considerate dog owner which is really nice. I wish everyone was like you. Sadly that isn't always true. My neighbors for one even though they were spoken with about their dog several times don't give a damn and think it's "cuuuuuute" that their dog is a psycho and freaks out at everything even a breeze of wind, constantly. :( They have done 0 to train the dog since it was a rambunctious puppy.

My parents (senior citizens) moved into a home with one of my sisters, and, shortly thereafter received a visit from a city official, after they received a complaint of too many people, cars, etc. at their home. They explained to the city official that it was their grown children coming to see the new house and help them set up. I have six siblings, so seven of us grown children were the too many people and cars. It upset my Mother so much, she refused to go for walks in this neighborhood. So, whoever this busy body was ruined the experience for my Mother. In talking with the neighbors, I made sure that the word got around that whoever it was that stuck their nose in, ruined it for my Mother. The excuses started flying, I wasn't having any of it. I told the neighbors all they had to do was introduce themselves to the new neighbor that moved in and get the story for themselves, instead of being a snitch, and causing trouble.

My best friend and her husband (and my god-kids) were house shopping. I went with them and the house seemed nice. Eventually, the kids and I got bored, so we went into the front yard to see what we could see. Neighbors were everywhere. I waved and slowly the information began coming in. Apparently, the people who used to live there were taken into custody after some kind of puppy mill gone wrong thing happened. They said the carpets were new, but that the floors were still the same, and that we should get onto the floor and sniff. They also told me that there was a weird decaying smell coming from the small shed in the backyard. I went inside with the kids, we did sniff the floor (ick #1) and that's when my pals came in to find out what we were doing. I told them what the neighbors told me and the real estate agent was all like "idk what you're talking about", and the hubby went with me into the shed (ick #2), where we found a mini-freezer, unplugged, with decaying meat inside. The agent said he'd NEVER seen that there before. Great neighbors, and my pals obviously did NOT buy the house.

My new neighbor, a gentleman in his 80’s, came over almost immediately and asked if he could cut down the trees. I was already planning on cleaning up and taking out the ugly fence but had not intended to deal with the trees for a while (big expense!). Apparently he had kept asking the previous owners of my home to allow him to cut down the trees (they made a mess of his property as well) but the owners would not allow it. These were not nice trees, these were huge weed trees! If someone is willing to spend almost $4K to clean up your yard and theirs, so both look better, I couldn’t imagine saying no. I came home one day and everything was gone! It looked amazing, plus there was a nice pile of wood chips. There was a young couple who lived in the apartment BELOW mine and the woman was heavy. There were lots of times her walking from one end of the apartment to the other was very disturbing... for ME. In the apartment ABOVE hers! She walked like an elephant wearing brick shoes. Can't imagine what the neighbours living below their apartment had to endure.

That snake is in a blueberry bush. My neighbor grew them ad the birds would pick the bush clean if he didn't place a net over the bushes. Perhaps the snake is to chase the birds away, since the berries are turning blue.

Yep was gonna comment this. We put fake snake around our goldfish pond to keep the herons from eating them. Works very well! Just gotta move them around every now and then so the birds don't get used to them being in one place.

Came here to say the same thing. I have a cherry tree, blackberries and some grapes that I'm going to use this idea for, the nets are a pain in the butt to deal with and don't work very well as the birds just rip holes in them.. Maybe I'll actually get to eat some this year.

I don’t fully believe in this. My elementary school is a “historic building” and was falling apart when I was there 15 years ago. A lot of building codes have changed and people are unsafe in these buildings (things like asbestos, exposed pipes, etc.). If they’re actively used, they need to be remodeled or torn down and rebuilt. That’s how you avoid having to evacuate 300 students ages 5-11 twice a year for gas leaks.

As someone who has had to update a piece of my property shared with neighbors (a fence shared with 4 other homes) I feel the driveway asphalt one. Some of my neighbors were super cool about it and split costs with me (it’s their fence too). Some of my neighbors I just had to eat the costs myself cuz they were a real pain in the butt to deal with. Like I did all the work and went out of my way to contact them and offer to split costs fairly. All they had to do was talk to me and negotiate costs with me. Oddly enough, the neighbor that was the worst was the one who had the smallest portion of fence with me. They were impossible to get ahold of. All I needed in the end was for them to keep their dogs indoors on the days the fence was replaced and they struggled doing even that.

And it really showed who the good neighbors were when we had an inland hurricane (derecho) hit our entire city last 8-10-2020. We are friends with the guy on one side (who also owns the house across the alley from us), and the couple also across the alley. The rental house on the other side is a different story. After the first 4 years we final have a quiet and nice neighbor. I hope she stays for a long time.

1:00 I'd like to know the story behind that one. I am not sure if he's being petty or the neighbor refused to chip in. Doing that to your driveway isn't exactly cheap and if the other neighbor didn't want to pitch in, then yea, I might have done the same thing lol. Maybe he literally didn't have enough tar for both sides and again without the neighbor buying some. Or, maybe the neighbor didn't feel like moving their car on the day the guy was painting it lol. Maybe they slept in and forgot to park elsewhere the night before.
2:55 That is hilarious lol. And rude hahah! Oh, and hard to tell if they are both boys since reindeer are the only deer species where both males and females have antlers^^
9:15 ...it's an average townhouse. the house isn't just the width of that front part. look at the roof. That shorter section of the roof also belongs to that house. it's about the average townhouse size, at least in the cities I've lived in :).

There is a canal that run behind my back yard, so I like to take a shovel and fling the loafs my dogs pinch, up and over my 8 foot privacy fence, and into the canal... However on occasion, I fling just a bit to hard (if you know what i mean) and the aforementioned loaves soar well over the canal, and land in the backyards of the homes lining the otherside of the canal... Let's not talk about how them occasions just so happen to correspond with the following day after those homes lining the otherside of the canal throwing loud, all night, every night parties on the weekends... Once apparently a flung loaf landed on the bbq grill in one of these backyards, and I caught the moment that the owner of said bbq'er discovered his good fortune thru a 2nd story open window on the back of my house that faces the canal... i will never forget the conversation i overheard:
Male - ''Son of a bitch!
    Female - ''What?''
Male - ''What the fuck is this?''
    Female - ''What is what?''
Male - ''Don't be a smart ass, why did you put this dog turd on the grill grate?''
Female - ''Excuse me? Why did i fucking do what? I have no idea what you're talking about''
Male - ''That, look at it, it's piece of dog shit isn't it? Why the fuck is it on the grill? And the grating no less, If not you then what? Did it just fall from the sky''
Male - ''You're the one who cleaned up on Sunday morning''
Female - ''I always clean up because you're too lazy to do it yourself, they're your friends, your dumbass cousin and his bitch wife''
    Male - ''(Inaudible)''
Female - ''Plus you're always still passed out at noon from getting shit faced on saturday, every fucking saturday''
Female - ''I'm always having to pick-up the poop in the backyard, speaking of which you have yet to get the two off the roof and the piece off the awning like you promised you would''
Male - ''Yeah that is why you put this on the grill isn't it?''
Male - ''You know this is unsanitary don't you?''
Female - ''Also I didn't know there was one on the bbq, where? I don't see it, show me''
Male - ''Right there, it's right there''
Female - ''Eww that's fucking disgusting, but you know it wasn't me, why would I do that, I eat off that thing, I would never, you should know better, you asshole''
Male - ''I thought I did know better, I'm just sick and tired of finding shit in our backyard, we don't have a dog, and (Inaudible name spoken here)'s dog is to small to shit this thing, that turd weighs more than he does''
Male - ''One must be wandering into the backyard, you know how dogs never like to shit on their own lawns''
Female - ''So it wanders back here and climbs on the roof, takes a shit u there, and then for good measure drops a deuce on the bbqer too?''
Male - ''I thought you were throwing them up there to make me have to get them down''
Male- ''You've done shit like that before to me''
Female - ''Yeah but I can't believe you would think i'm capable of putting shit where we cook our food, you're an asshole, a huge asshole (Door slamming sound)''
Male - ''I'm sorry babe, I'm just sick of finding (Inaudible fading conversation)(Door closing sound)''

Next door calls over "what are you doing?" I call back loudly "basting these turds with bacon fat...everyday there's a new turd but the old one is always gone!" next door laughs his a$$ off and neighbors across the street who were on their deck and listening stopped letting them out on the street to crap.

I have this backyard neighbour whose backyard butts up to my backyard (there's a fence in between). The backyard neighbour lady planted creeping vines which grew on the fence between our yards that were literally taking over my backyard and I was trying to trim them back one day when the backyard neighbour lady went off on me. She was swearing and screaming at me to leave her vines alone. The rest of the neighbours in my area are very nice to me, one neighbour that lives in the house beside mine decided that she would back me up if it ever happened again. And oh boy, it certainly did happen again the next year. True to her word, my side neighbour came to my rescue and cussed out the backyard neighbour - it was a beautiful sight. A year or two after that, the backyard neighbour decided she didn't like her vines anymore and I hacked them all down - it was so satisfying.

I always like her reaction videos. Also how does she do them without it getting copyrighted. Like does she look um petty people and text to them? Also her singing is on point

I have to tell on my daughter, she was 3 years old and helping decorate for Christmas, and hung 2 ornaments on our light up deer. They were blue and she hung the low and together, not knowing what everyone driving down the road would think when they saw it. Thankfully my neighbors that called to let me know if stopped to say something, laughed and told me to leave them after they knew she was "helping decorate."

Damn Girl, you're a woman of many talents!! I'm down for some pettiness as long as I'm not involved personally.😀 Definitely been there, done that, have the certificate from therapy to prove I'm over it!!
PS... Don't beat yourself up over the roundabout thing. While learning to drive my dad taught me to stop at yield signs. Learned why this is totally wrong & highly dangerous while entering & exiting the local expressway!! NOT my dad's finest fatherly moment, but no one died or got seriously injured THANK GOD!!
