I always love a new wave of Star Wars Black Series, and while most of this wave is updates or newer versions of figures we've already gotten, it's worth it just for Teebo. I mean, Darth Vader, Stormtrooper, Clone Trooper, Admiral Ackbar, and the Mandalorian in Beskar are all awesome upgrades, but getting an Ewok in the display? Heck yeah...

You have successfully made me want to get that Darth vader and storm trooper. You're the first reviewer I've seen that nocitced the floating vest, I had no idea it was like that. That's a cool detail and probably close to what the actual suits were like.
Yeah, it's a cool little thing where they can maximize movement without cutting into the look. Which, now that I type that out makes the reason for it pretty clear. It's not to get out of the way of the butterflies and abs, it's to cover them. But yeah, love it.
I think the Stormtrooper should have some extra guns. They used other weapons in The Mandalorian.
The Client's stormtroopers did, but these are the Remnant stormtroopers, who only used the E-11. It will more than likely get another release as that first version, simple as adding sand/dirt to the current version.

@@atahanonacan Someone needs to pay better attention to my comment. These troopers are indeed Remnant stormtroopers, the ones the first comment was thinking of are the Client's own stormtroopers, who are separate from the Remnant troopers.
@@alexissandoval1284 If you check out Hot Toys' 1/6th Remnant Stormtrooper figure you can clearly see they are Client's stormtroopers.
@@atahanonacan They are two separate stormtrooper types that are a part of the same organization. The Client hired his stormtrooper bodyguards from mercenaries who still used their old armor, thus being dirty and worn. They also used whatever weapons they could afford or had available, seeing as some used pistols while others used heavy blaster rifles.
Gideon's own Stormtroopers were the official remnants, being they never stopped serving the Empire and thus are cleaner than the former type. They were standard issue and were highly organized, using only the weapons they had authorization to use, mainly being the E-11.

Hey Robo, you're correct. That is a Temura Morrison head. I've seen a lot people heat up the heads and remove the helmets to fix the warping issue. Like half of these new stormtroopers have their left sides squished in. I think it's because of the head in there.

I just pulled a new one out of the box and his helmet just came off. Yep Temuera Morrison head underneath 😂
I remember walking into the sculpting department at Hasbro in late 2013 when they were testing Vader's articulation, the sculpt blew my mind. Crazy to think how improved this version is

IMO The new stormtrooper blows all the others out of the water, even the ANH Figuarts one. Only trouble is if helmet is glued on the head wrong it warps the helmet that then requires a battle to remove and glue back on the correct way. When the helmet is right though i'd say its my figure of the year hands down.
Back when I was in the Mando Mercs. We had a friendly rivalry with the local 501st on us being able to pick up stuff on the ground and sitting down.
Haha, yeah, if I were to ever choose it would definitely be Mando. I like to be able to move a bit more.

I feel like the floating vest is so that they can easily reuse the torso for other types of troopers. Maybe the clone and stormtrooper have the same torse as well
Awesome review! I was thinking on passing on most of these but this has really convinced me how much better these are than the past versions. And that Teebo looks great. Army-building with him sounds like a good idea.

I never thought that I would like the new arms and legs design but there I am, it really does looks cleaner, I have a problems with Vader's helmet it doesn't look quite right to me (doesn't look like the one from ESB) but the new Stromtrooper sculpt is amazing! Great Review as always.
exactly, i am mostly so happy that we finally a a new stormtrooper head sculpt!
Teebo's head dress was not glued on mine, it did need a little pinch or squeeze to flex over the ears but it comes right off. The head pops off pretty easy too.

I’ve been able to pick up the whole wave off the pegs over the last couple of weeks. Loved Ewoks when I was a kid, but I’m still surprised how much fun I’m having with Teebo. Definitely my favorite of the wave.
I can't get enough of these opening shorts they are getting better and better and better!

The Stormtrooper actually represents how they appeared in Episode 6, Return of the Jedi and The Mandolorian, not an update of the original Episode 4 and 5 variant. Looks amazing, these figures are going for $45 AU retail price though
When it comes to Ackbar, Robo DOES know.
Very excited for Teebo. Got him in Target a week or two ago. Glad to see Ewoks enter black series. They'll go well with my custom Gorax. Excited to do some customs once they do a more basic ewok than Teebo.
the good thing with arms is you dont see pegs which is big improvement for me

I just picked up the Vader on the ESB card as I stumbled into a store that had like 10. Clearly the best Vader to date in the line, though I suppose they should be able to get it right by now.
Be brave Robo. Teebo’s hat is held on by his ears. Awesome engineering. I had a blast playing with this guy last night. I have only found Teebo. But I’m very much anticipating finding the the Stormtrooper. I have several preordered. Beskar needs the cloth cape. Vader is coming too. Ewoks! More please! Plunderlings v. Ewoks...
The peg on the lightsaber blade is moulded to fit the angle of the top of the hilt so you have to make sure you put it the right way

Not sure if you noticed or mentioned this but if you push the rubber strap up the bicep to touch that piece of armor it moves it off the elbow runner enough to not be ripped or torn. I own 6 and don't have a single one broke by doing this

You can take Teebo’s hood off, you just need to heat it up. It doesn’t seem to be attached at all.
Its glue in. It took some heat from a heat gun to free it but I got it off.

I picked up another Beskar Mando and Ackbar today at Walmart; they had a full case out.
Haven’t seen any of these yet, but I’m far more excited for them all now.
When you are talking about the difference in the head the reason it looks different is because it is meant to look more like the clone wars clones which is where this clone variant comes from.

Being a big Clone Trooper fanboy myself, I did manage to obtain this new "Kamino" version from this wave. And also the new Mandalorian as well, because I do enjoy that series as well. Love them both, but I too worry about the Clone's elbow pad straps - because the right-hand one IS already starting to split a little. Other than that, totally worth it in my book. :)
That grey clone looks like a black and white photo of the Red striped Coruscant Guard Shocktrooper, I just cant get that out of my head ! Aside of the Ewok I'm probably gonna get the rest of those, Great video review
I think the line needed new packaging anyway. With the improvements being made the last few years those early figures in that packaging which already looked dated came off as especially low quality. I think with the new technology they are putting into these figures this new packaging conveys the right idea that this is meant to be a collectible toy line and not something I keep finding at 5 below.

I was lucky to find both stormtroopers at my local Walmart. As for the Mandalorian, I have him on pre-order. Those are the ones that i wanted the most.

I actually just got my stormtrooper yesterday and that figure is amazing!
Coming back to this video and seeing the Darth Vader segment and I just have to compliment Hasbro on a job well done and makes me think the Bandai model kit, which is also based on ESB, needs a serious upgrade to compete. For years I've always thought it remained undefeated as the best ESB Darth Vader in that scale, despite all the other releases from Hasbro, other import companies and even Bandai themselves, but now I'm beginning to change my mind. The only thing that model now has going for it are the extra hands, the more solid hilts and the longer blade.
That helmet sculpt on the Black Series is that good and even the soft goods seem improved over the original 2017 release. The only flaw here is the lenses should've been a dark amber to be completely screen accurate.
On the new Beskar armor Mando at the end of his visor its more pointed where as on the old one one side was flat and uneven glad they fixed that on the new one.
I'm not sure all the first ones were like that. My first looked smashed at the bottom and was weird, but my second matches the Beskar version's helmet fairly close.
Robo you should have your own TV Show by now as you're that good . The Clone helmet is missing the black band above the eye visor :(

This wave haunts me!!! I've just missed it twice in the wild... the wait for the pre order continues.
I've only recently rewatched the original Star Wars trilogy for the first time since I was a kid, and I've pretty immediately fallen into Black Series following that, hehe. I found the Ackbar last weekend, and in my little collection so far, he's probably the most insignificant character I have, but god does he look great and is fun to play around with!
That's how it begins, next you'll be wanting background cantina patrons and 54 Stormtroopers to flank one of the many Vaders you find yourself with. Sigh....
@@TheFwoosh Cantina patrons maybe, I do rather like unique-looking alien characters, but probably not the 54 troopers, don't have the space or funds for that, but maybe 2. I also very much want 2 Cobra Troopers to flank my Cobra Commander.

The Kamino clone looks different because it’s based on the Clone Wars model. That’s why the visor is thinner and the mouth is a different angle.
I honestly wasn’t excited by this wave, however now you compared each figure to the old version and I might have to pick up Ackbar and a few Stormies xD

I had forgotten how many Vaders there are until I went to grab a couple and was all "geez, which ones?". Need a display just for Vaders.

@@TheFwoosh Oh, absolutely. If you wanna have Vader in just one or two poses and throw him on the shelf, this new BS one looks great. I'm really tempted to grab him now. But the accessories and articulation on the imports make them worth it, to me. Plus, if I'm gonna only have one Vader, I'm gonna make it the best one I can get, and that's definitely the Figuarts right now. And I even noticed the Figuarts is ever so slightly taller than the BS which is funny because I've heard lots of people say the Figuarts are too small for 1:12 scale, and clearly that's not the case!
@@TheFwoosh Also, I'd love to see a Playdate episode with the John Walker Customs head on the new Beskar Mando. I'm hoping the paint matches to that of the figure, but I suspect the JWC helmet might be just too shiny.
the kamino and 332nd trooper helmets suffers from using softer plastic, the helmet looks bloated and warp, while the eyes look likes it is squinting. Luckily the new elite trooper's helmet is improved on and is much better

Got these at Target. Had to ask the guy to bring them out from the back. He didn't bring the whole case out though. He gave me Vader, Luke and a stormtrooper and then claimed the rest was of the case was stormtroopers. He couldn't give me all of those of course. It's only one per customer, you know, if they hand them to you but if the figures are on the pegs you can buy as many as you want. Anyway, when they finally put the rest of the case on the pegs three hours later, lo and behold, it wasn't actually all stormtroopers like he told me. It was the rest of the figures from the wave minus the Beskar Mando. Oh the games we play for toys.
I've had that happen several times at Target, told that they didn't have them then boom, on the peg a few hours later. I don't even ask anymore.
I do believe the Stormy's upper armour being a separate piece is to keep the mold in a single colour to keep consistant with the rest and to keep the undersuit sculpt so nice and in a single black so it looks cleaner,
gotta say I love the new articulation scheme for Black Series, maybe if they get those "pegless" double joints engineered like the Legends line is when those come back
also I'm so indifferent on that clone with the bands, cause at this point I'd rather it be a paint app than a sculpt rubbery or not tbh, also I've probably left this comment before but I think that clone helmet may be shared with the clone helmet that came with the SDCC Thrawn, I dont own that release so can't check but might be something to look for, in a playday or something

Have the 2 (Luke and Stormtrooper) awaiting the rest (various preorders). Vader looks good. Mando looks great (3 ordered...This is the Way). And Akhbar is historic. I even look forward to that teddy bear Ewok (never a big fan of the critters). It appears the head gear does remove. And never enough Clone Troopers.

I finally found a Beskar Mando at Target 🤘
I have had a storm trooper from back when the coins came with and its been in the packaging since the day I bought it (This was from the same series where they released some of the concept figures) and only the other day when I was looking carefully at it for the first time (and realised what a damn great figure it was for a 3.5 inch sculpt) I noticed that up under the helmet is a neck and chin and skin tones too. Man I want to open it so bad now. Anyone know if there is a head underneath ??

I think that the reason the head is big on the clone is it's supposed to be the style of the animated clone wars show.

If you miss the blue box Vader, the Vader from wave 3 of 40th ESB is the same figure😉 I picked up this entire wave at my 🎯 last week, minus Luke and Vader, because I had found the wave 3 version the week before at the same 🎯

Loving the new stormtrooper sculpt, but that chest piece. It looks warped and not sitting right. I got 2 and they're both the same. Flaw from the factory. Love it and hate it. Love it more.

The cylinder on the back of the storm troopers was supposed to hold light sabers in the original draft of star wars
