    I made my Amazons by hybridizing Alan and Khazar. You get Byzantine heritage and Scythian language, which fits because the Amazons are from Greek myths often related to the Scythians. You also get equal martial culture which is neat.
    I just pretended my character heard the legends and presumed it was referring to their culture, and that Kuzarite was actually the remnant of the lost faith of the ancient Amazons. We reformed that to the true, reformed Amazon faith. So yeah, we were Jewish Amazons.

    • @000Dragon50000
      @000Dragon50000 Год назад +16

      Actually the historical Scythians were an Iranian people group so the other Heritage of that hybrid might have worked a tiny bit better.
      And well, Kuzarite DOES have Syncretic folk traditions, so it kinda works, it'd just be syncretysing with a different set of folk traditions than the mostly slavs and tengri-ists in the area.

    • @glitchxero4687
      @glitchxero4687 Год назад +23

      Absolutely. There are TONS of different languages and cultures in Africa. It's a large part of why African nations have struggled so much. The borders of the African nations as they exist today are mostly as they are because of the nations that colonized them. Many cultures got split up, many others got lumped together with different cultures who they considered dire enemies, or both, and the colonizers just didn't care. It's kinda like taking a bunch of people out of Appalachia and a bunch more out of The Bronx, and then yet more from L.A., and then sticking them on an island together and telling them to form a stable nation out of it.

The western hemisphere and especially the US doesn't have this issue, being an amalgam of every ethnicity. The thing is, race is a very easy way to approximate different groups in such a wildly diverse nation. African=black. European=white. Asian=asian. Middle East=Arab/Sometimes white. Colonized ethnicites=native. LatAm and Iberian=hispanic. Simplistic but generally accurate for all the more homogenous and ethnonationalist nations.

Asian is asian. The original habitants of every landmass which was colonized are natives. Arabs are arabs. And Latin Americans and Iberians are hispanic. They're just terms for race and obviously in the US we'd say Laith is racially Arab or white. Not black. Nor asian. Despite the US being one of the few non-homogenous racial/ethnic nations on Earth, we Americans discuss race more than any other nation. Almost every American, whether conservative or progressive, value race for some reason. Whites, blacks, arabs, asians, and natives. That's typically how we break down race across the Americas. Its not scientific, but its sort of a rough social categorization. That's why North African Arabs are not "African" racially, just as white South Africans are not African racially but they are all African geographically, in terms of their nationality's continent. But the American normies outside of the history and geopolitics nerds rarely ever mean geography in any way, let alone which continent someone is from. The Brits have a similar issue where they claim to not be European. They 100% are as they're part of the European continent. But Brexit made them not EU members, and the rhetoric was anti-mainland and anti-Europe in terms of the geopolitical entities in Europe. The words "European" and "African" in both these cases are not referring to continent of residence, but rather identity relative to the "other" whether racially or politically.

    Well Laith, I think deep down you know the real answer to your troubles about “certain” peoples perception of Africa. In the sense that it isn’t about Africa at all, or atleast geographically it isn’t. Typically when someone is referred to as African, what they mean is black of skin and of matching phenotype, you see this in the way that Black Americans, aren’t just simply “American”, but “African”-Americans. North Africa is typically associated with the Middle East, which makes sense on a genetic, cultural, religious, and linguistic level, in comparison to any other part of Africa, despite sharing the same continent. Don’t get too offended, North Africa has had a vastly different history in comparison to the rest of Africa, mainly sub Saharan Africa, which is what most people imagine when they think of Africa, in much the same way, that when someone imagines the Near East, they don’t see Western “Asia”, but something with a unique identity where the continental label is simply too broad for them to fall under, so they form their own group despite sharing the same continent.

    I’m late but as an American born in southern Georgia, before I went to college and traveled throughout my own country twice with my friends, I could not name most states in my own country and i thought Africa itself was a single country/continent amalgamation. Now I play EU4 and roleplay as historical figureheads and am learning several languages at once with a focus on Russian, Icelandic, and Japanese. America taught me nothing, I learned the most AFTER I finished my primary education.

    For the Morroco one, morrocons condsider themselves to be arab much more then african, in the western sense. you will never find a person in morroco refer to themselves as african. geographicaly yes, but socially the are part of the arab world, like for arabs thats its own continent pretty much, so most americans i saw actualy said they should use african, but most morracans said arab.

    Bruh Laith, when yu are giving titles away from a big kingdom (like you are doing at 23:05) dont give away single counties, but rather form the duchies and give them away to your kids or if you don't have enough kids than to your dynasty. Creating duchies gives you prestige which is always useful and dukes are always to weak to win rebelions. Kingdoms are different you really don't want to give them away until you are way bigger and have to many duke vassals under you. It is a lot easier to manage a handful of dukes than hundreds of counts and its a lot quicker.

    The thing about Americans generalizing about Africa is that America has 2 large black populations that, due to the first group (African-Americans) being so assimilated that their rights become an issue separate from all other non-white rights has forced the new group (Immigrants from the last 100 years or so) to become part of the first group. I'm an Austinite, Austin has a lot of immigrants. The children of African immigrants tend to feel like African-Americans and not immigrants. For that reason, and also the American education system a lot of Americans view Africa as a monolith.

    As an American, I'd like to say that it's very difficult to make general statements about our education system because we don't have a singular education system. Each state has different requirements on the high school level and provides public schools with different curriculums. The teachers have some control over how they teach it but they are required to teach the curriculums provided to them. Certain states are better at curriculums than others. For example, some states in the Bible Belt required creationist myths to be taught alongside evolutionary theory for a while. As far as I am aware no state covers geography as a required course, and only briefly mentions it in a social studies class. That isn't to say there are no geography classes, I took AP Geography in my school, but that is not a required course so most people don't take it.
    There are also private schools, that while still supposed to follow the state requirements have curriculums that are typically leagues better than public schools. Private schools don't receive public funding, so they aren't beholden to the state's programs. (
    There are Academies as well, which are private but do receive public funding, however, there are to my memory only 5 fit into that parameter so they aren't entirely relevant to this.
