These are all great tips. Personally, I skip one step - if I get shoved back I don't shove my opponent, I go full attack. No defense is as good as an effective offense.
Still - awesome instructions for beginners. I would add that whatever moves a person thinks will help them - they need to practice it thousands of times until it becomes a "muscle memory". Things move pretty fast in a combat environment and muscle memory is key.
Drills work! Watching a video is great for ideas but unless you drill, drill, drill, drill, drill and then drill again - you won't be prepared.
Keep up the good work, New York 👏

Good basic preparation for awareness. But... if there is no escalation or warning you will need a reactive position to immediately go into if attacked. Me, I'd drop low bring up hands and rotate to a quartering position facing the attacker for protection, visibility, and power. You don't always see it coming.

Don't raise your voice. That could very well escalate the potential attacker to fight even more. Your best thing is to de- escalate, STAY CALM...........Breath

My father instructed me , too Never do the pushing shoving bullshit - Don’t talk - don’t threaten . Just do what you’re going to do ….Or walk away . Your life is the least of the thing’s you might loose . Being dead is easier than living with the ….often - life long injuries you could sustain from an attacker . 👉 Ego / posturing 👈gets more people killed than Most of you realise .
A mobile phone is a ridged rectangular object , great to strike the face with - or something to drop or throw at the face 👉 as a distraction as you strike . Your keys In your hand or The change in your pocket are tools to be used too create opportunities .
Personally - the subtle actions you take -in preparation for someone approaching you - I see as part of a subtle threatening posture . Mabe it’s the law enforcement posture or military attitude 🤷 I don’t know 🤔🤔 . Mabe it’s just my O.C.D. Observations or the dislexic brain issue 🤔🤷 .
😱 WHAT , no Vulcan death Grip . You know it’s Real Right !! 😉
The catch is - it only works IF YOU ARE a Vulcan . Thanks for the vid Brother . 👣🦘
