- Welcome to the first episode of "Who Was Walt Disney?" a show where we use this man's history to answer deeper questions of what kind of person he was. In this episode we look at the relationships he had with his immediate family, and how they shaped the personality of this honored man.
If you are looking to better understand the mind of Walt Disney, and to learn about his life, I highly recommend you read "Walt Disney An American Original" by Bob Thomas. A lot of the storytelling in this series is based off of the high quality research done in that book.

DISCLAIMER: I am not a University-educated historian, Alex the Historian was a nickname I got while working at Disneyland as a tour guide. After 5 years of using it as a stage name for my channel, it would be detrimental to the channel to suddenly change the name. Развлечения
Sums it up nicely. I read where Roy E. Disney (Walt's nephew) was up stairs sick in bed. Walt came up and told him about the movie Pinocchio he planned to make. Walt acted out the various scenes for him. When the movie was released however, Roy said he was disappointed! He felt that Walt's performance was BETTER than the movie! I'd read about many beautiful moments is the Disney house hold. One was about Walt not wanting a fuss made over his birthday. He didn't want a cake. Lilly put icing on his face, and cake went flying around the dining room in front of guests. it was pie a pie fight in the old silent films. LOL!!!!
Great tribute to Walt Disney alex as he was an inspiration to the world
You knocked it out of the park again.
Interesting. We look forward to part 2. Nice job.
This was a beautiful tribute to Mr. Disney. You bring his history back to life. Thank you for your wonderful videos!
It's my pleasure. Glad you like the content!
What a wonderful, inspiring tribute to Walt.😁😁😁
Thank you kindly!
Not sure how many episodes will be in this series but if they are all like this it will be awesome.
There's a lot of things to cover, there'll be at least 10 episodes.
Alex, I've never heard or seen this portion of his life. Thank you for bringing out positive aspects. Beautiful!!!
Thanks for watching!
Walt, the spirit of Kansas City. It's not a history episode of Walt without a train. I recently watched an interview with Lillian about Epcot's opening at the UK pavilion gazebo where the British Revolution group played (before they were cut). It was very interesting listening to what she had to say
Yes it's a very interesting interview. She always felt that Disneyland was enough, they didn't need another.
Thanks alex, didnt want to watch the teaser bc i didnt want to let myself in at all before full video love that its going to be a series
Awesome man, can’t wait to watch your next video.
Thank you for your videos keeping my spirit up during these rough times. Been watching you for a while, but this one was probably the most touching. Hope you're safe and healthy. ❤
Thank you! I'm doing fine. I hope you and your family are well also!
Alex, you're really good at making these videos. I hope to meet you sometime in Disneyland (I've never been before).
Maybe one day! Thanks for watching David!
Alex this is so beautiful!
Thanks Colleen!
I really enjoy these history pieces that you do! There are always those buildings with the little historical sections (it's toward the front of the park WDW; I don't know where might be at DL, because I've never had the opportunity to go). Disney should hire you to make all of the videos you've made available to them for people to watch (about the history of the Disney family and the creation of the park/studios, etc.). They could at least offer you a pass (whether media or some other type) in exchange for all of your work on these videos, if they were to do that.
What ID give just to hang out with Walt for just one day!!
this is going to be good video ill lov your videros you know alot
"The best way to get started is to stop talking, and start doing" so it's awesome to dive deeper into our creative storyteller/innovator.🐭🎥🎬🏰🌠 Stay safe everyone!
Excellent video, thanks!!
You did a great job on the video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!
Nice work Alex.
Glad you enjoyed it
That was absolutely a great video
Thank you!
It sounds like “A Family Man” sums it up perfectly. If society is losing touch with what that means, your detail may help them see and remember. I’ve heard there are many stories attributed to Walt or Roy which, in actuality, are vice versa and many of Roy’s ideas attributed to Walt, and my guess not corrected, because it didn’t matter between them, the company being more important. If the public wanted to mythologize Walt then so be it. Have you heard similar? The quality of your work is very impressive. Will be waiting for more. I was sorry to hear about big changes in your life being forced upon you. I wish only best for you in whatever new endeavors you partake and where you end up. May it be a blessing in disguise.
Slow clap Alex! Tears!
Thank you, thank you ☺️
Good job Alex. I would like to see a video about what happened when the Disney family lost control of the company the change the merge , Eisner , and waltz son in law I know very little about how it all happened...
Thanks for the idea, I'll probably make a video on that much later though, there's a lot of more important topics to get to first. But I must say, the Disney family didn't "lose control" of the company. The Walt Disney Company became public in 1949 with Walt purchasing the first shares. But the company was public, which meant the people with the most shares had greater influence. Walt and Roy didn't want to strong-arm their family into running the business, and to be honest, most people in the family didn't want to run Walt Disney Productions. But I'll discuss more of that later.
Alex the Historian awesome I will wait patiently then . Yes I love your narration on your videos, and I agree on the other topics being a priority, do what you do best Alex.. thanks for your videos. The way I understood is that Walts son-in-law was removed from his position and horrible things light the company would not let the family go back into the Apartment on Main Street to get personal belongings etc etc. I just wait till you get to the videos with the facts thanks again Alex..
Amazing info! Great video!
Thank you!
Thank you Alex.
BTW... second.
I love your videos!!
Thanks!
Walts PARENTS pic with mickey😭😍
3:31
He bought his parents a house but a gas leak accident killed his mom and he blamed himself for the rest of his life
Can you cover the fact that Walt Disney might have been an Anti-semite ? Thanks, I am sick and tired of people calling him a mythical man with out bringing up these charges
Actually, yes, I plan to cover that topic on this series, I've been gathering my evidence, and preparing my references.
Two words that dispel any notion of anti-semitism alleged to Walt Disney: Marc Davis!
Because they are easily debunked with a 5-second fact check. Family Guy is not a news source. Look up the Sherman Brothers, two Jewish guys who worked with him for YEARS, and what they have to say about these BS rumors.
My gosh ure making me ball my eyes out😭where did u get those beautiful videos of WALT,his fam,his parents, kids, etc never had seen them. I have to show my fellow DISNEY LOVER followers on instagram that they must come see your videos🥲I'm sure they will enjoy them as much as me
Lots and lots of research since I was a little kid.
