It's 2024 and some people still don't get it. Mini pc what for? you can make aesthetic clean desk work setup cause it's very small, almost noise free, great power delivery compared to normal pc. Trust me mini pcs are future at least for working environment, and some premium gaming later (asus already made it with external GPU but very pricey).

Still the design of these mini PCs don't really allow for air flow, even compared to laptops. If you think your old laptop gets hot, you have to wonder what the life expectancy is of these products.
These "mini" PC's have their nitch and are NOT intended for actual "gaming" but are MORE than capable for other tasks like a dedicated media streaming player that can play 4K videos NO problem, do tasks like BASIC/moderate video editing and picture editing for content creators, and picture editing like a champ! You need to realize the limitations of any "mini" like this but definitely have their place like a home theater system or college PC that can do everything but major gaming in a VERY small setup and price-point! These setups will play 4K video with NO frame droppage, consume WAY less power/heat and do the job they are intended for.
What do you boys think about using this PC as some that'd can use OBS/Run a game? Looking at how you played Overwatch, I am sure it'd be able to play FIFA/EAFC25 extremely well. I bought a mini pc for my wife, and I am impressed it even plays EAFC24 on High settings extremely well as for editing it looks it'll NO ISSUE in running Adobe Prem Pro.
The big problem with this Mini pc is no cooling for DDR ram or SDD so they thermal throttle very intensely during gaming so you never get full potential of pc during gaming
@@D2firetechMay be with 16GB DDR5. But 32GB need more power and 64GB even more. I tried 4x1mm thermal pads on my 2x32GB DDR5, it took much longer but still reached critical temperatures.
This mini PC is nice, but I prefer building a mini-ITX, although it is a bit more expensive compared to this mini PC with an 8700G in a 4 to 6-liter size case with a Flex 1U 500W PSU for a future low-profile GPU or even an RTX 3050 6GB that doesn't need external power. By the way, there are some mini PCs that do have some pre-installed malware or something that I forgot.
In a few years we'll have 1440p capable apus lmao... Im not expecting AAA to run at 1440p on apus but indies are already doing it and older aaa games can get close to playable already (2012-2016 era should be doable depending on the developer)

I would classify them as a novelty. The CPU offers good performance at a premium price point. The small form factor is portable requiring a keyboard, monitor, power block and more to function. The only thing easily portable is the PC. So, a laptop makes more sense. Laptops have better cooling and you can probably get the same performance for less. I don't understand why anyone would spend so much on a tiny cube that can do nothing on its own.
Remember other people have other usecases. I need a premium kodi/emulation box, controlled mostly by a remote or a controller. Yes I have a 4090 / 7800X3D-pc, but I don't want that jet motor running while I am watching a movie. I also have an odroid N2+ which is excellent for Kodi, but doesn't meet my emulation requirements. So a silent Ser8 8845HS it was - looks cool, relatively silent, meets my requirements. My point is - other people have other use cases that might not make sense to you.
You (and everyone else) needs to test eGPU if the port exists. It's a sellable feature or it would not be on the product. I would not trust the port's existence to mean it will work. Having that kind of future proofs the PC a bit. In a few years you can bottom feed the current latest and greatest by adding eGPU on.
For an average non-gamer, a cheap refurbished Lenovo Mini PC's with 6 Gen intel chips are absolutely usable for day to day. Being a game player is the only reason 80% of people need fast new computers.
I work at a place where we make the intel ones. NUC’s are usually not for gaming, we have bigger ones that we install GPU’s. For better performance. The small are usually for kiosk and small office workloads. Then we have fanless for musicians and the gaming one which are cool and not too flashy looking. Hit me up and maybe I can get you some for testing.
Do you all think the Kodlix AD69 with DDR5 will also have overheating issues? Specs look pretty good for $450. Is this an issue that mostly Gamers suffer through or do video editors as well on these minis?

PLEASE, are these mini PC's capable of streaming 4K movies from them to the TV without any problems? From a Plex multimedia server and the movies copies onto the m.2 of the mini pc.
Unless tested, your mileage may vary. Just because it's there, doesn't mean it will work. Chances are it will, but I'd like to see it in action in a video. "We tried it with an AMD ??? and a NVDIA ABC and we increased the FPS by ZZ%".
@dlewis9760 that's what I'm saying no one ever does in these videos , I get it defeats the purpose if u carry both around but if u have both and say have 500 fps opposed to 100 fps u can use it as a regular pc when traveling but a gaming pc at a desk etc

The main reason you cant use them for light gaming is guaranteed "thermal throttling" caused by DDR5 rams overheating ( >85 degrees celsius ).

Yeah the CPU needs ptm 7950,the SSD need a copper cooler and the ram needs a thermal pad to stay cool, same for my laptop. 😢

I LOVE RYZEN 9 MINI PCS RADEON 780M POWER HOUSES LIKE THE REATON ALLOY 9 AND MINISFORUM UM790 PRO and Geekom has one im sure of.
The "UM790 Pro" has active ddr5 cooling, better forget all others without active ram cooling, they dont operate at full potential.
