I've been on the Duke 390 and the Huskie 401 (same engine) and the low-end is virtually not an issue because the thing revs up quicker than you can blink an eye.
i have the same complaint about the rear suspension. i have a 250 adventure and in the first week the suspension was amazing but after the first week the suspension turned into a piece of crap. i felt like i had no rear suspension at all. i brought this up during my first service and he said the suspension was indeed a bit still and he had adjusted it. after the service the suspension was better and was absorbing most of the bumps. but after about 50-70 kms the suspension is messed up again and it is literally worse than before. i chose the 250 adventure over the interceptor 650 mainly cause of the weight of the interceptor and i really am trying hard to love the adventure but the suspension is the only shitty thing about the bike . is there any fix for the suspension cause i really like the adventure and its my first bike so i aint gonna be getting a new bike probably for the next 5 years.

Hello buddy! I'm planning to do a solo trip to ladakh on a bike which i have not own yet but planning to buy soon, which is the same bike you're riding ktm390 adv, my height is 5.8ft. So my question is, how friendly is this bike for a person of my height, who is on the lower side as far as the experience goes on off road. Should i consider the option of buying this bike keeping the ladakh trip in my mind after which the bike will be mostly used for home to office commuting or buy some other bike? Oh yes, i do own xpulse 200 but kinda feel like should go for a bit more powerful motorcycle at this stage after almost 5 years of riding bikes with lower displacement engines!

I always enjoy Indian biking videos because so many people motorcycle in India, although apparently the lines on your roads are mere suggestions. 😀 The break-in oil is, by design, not intended to have low friction. It's intended to allow the engine moving parts to polish each other in the first few hundred miles. After that, synthetic oil is great to reduce engine wear and make very smooth shifting if the transmission shares engine oil.

Do you think 390 adventure with alloys and slightly less low end torque would be reasonable for some serious interiors of ladakh. I have a background of Enfields for at least 25 years. For me interceptor doesn't feel very comfortable and Himalayan feels underpowered. I believe Himalayan 650 should be to my liking.. please share your views ...is 390 adventure is really capable of drifting away from RE .. I have took the test ride, It's has only one issues, it's not made for city, I can say it will stop many time in bumper to bumper traffic's. It has horrible low end. While test ride on 2nd gear in traffic it got stopped 3 times in just 1 km streach

Because you won't be below 4k rpm while on the highway. The suspension you will get used to after a point of time. Believe me, it is a very good long distance bike.
It's too stiff. Not that adjusting it is easy. And what really hurts is the slow rebound. I have my suspension set up at 4 of the 10 adjustable steps for preload. I don't like it at all.
There are many ways to break the engine in. I change oil at 200 and then at 1000 again. This works every time and have been following this for all my vehicles.
to not want ABS in 2020 means ignorance or you don't ride when it rains....also saying you injured yourself on another bike because of a rear shock not being the way you like is not taking responsibility for your choices vs true rider skills.
@@more3852 could also mean a personal preference? Bikes 10 years ago didn't have ABS. They weren't crashing every time they were out on the road, were they now? Don't try to impose your opinion.

Send your suspension to Zedling Suspension and let them rebuild it according to your weight and riding style. Google for their details.

Both good bikes. Try both and decide. See what works better for you. I'd pick the Interceptor if I had to.

You'd be fine on the KTM. Also check out the G310 GS. Comfier than the KTM.

You need stiff suspension for the extra load being a touring machine. Including the pillion, a soft suspension will be a disaster
It doesn't have to be a pogo stick but the way it is right now is simply unacceptable. Why can't it be like a BMW G310 GS suspension.
@@abhinavbhatt because it's a KTM. KTM's Performance Enduro design of suspension doesn't generally follow the relaxed comfort philosophy of BMW.

I think the 390 Adventure is the perfect bike for Ladakh. It will handle any and all abuse you throw at it with ease.

Street Twin. Not Speed Twin. My Interceptor is a lot more fun.
I think you need to keep mineral oil in your bike during the run in period. It assists the initial abrasion of the engine walls and the pistons.
You are correct about mineral oil. Though as a matter of practice, I change it at 500 km.

Simple Rs 200 fix for that. Run a Duke 250 front sprocket. Bottom end improves.

It's too stiff. Not that adjusting it is easy. And what really hurts is the slow rebound. I have my suspension set up at 4 of the 10 adjustable steps for preload. I don't like it at all.
Ktm stock engine oil motul 7100 full synthetic... Not a cheap mineral oil
I don't think the oil it ships with would be 7100. They add Motul 7100 during the first service. The first oil is always mineral and never synthetic.
First engine oil is always mineral with any ktm bikes.
You shouldn't have changed the engine oil at 200 Km... They put the mineral oil for a reason, for a proper engine breakin
There are many ways to break the engine in. I change oil at 200 and then at 1000 again. This works every time and have been following this for all my vehicles.

to not want ABS in 2020 means ignorance or you don't ride when it rains....also saying you injured yourself on another bike because of a rear shock not being the way you like is not taking responsibility for your choices vs true rider skills.
@@more3852 could also mean a personal preference? Bikes 10 years ago didn't have ABS. They weren't crashing every time they were out on the road, were they now? Don't try to impose your opinion.
@@more3852 and I got injured because I tried a 20 foot jump in a jungle on a mountain bike without slowing down the rebound at the rear. So cut the bullshit about using refrences like not taking responsibility etc.
