The moment where Vincent spins the distraught mother around, and around to avert her from seeing her murdered daughter just breaks me.... shows his compassion, but also his self-preservation, the way he doesn't make eye-contact with her... I was mentally ill at 18, experiencing the first psychosis of my lifetime, bipolar disorder manifesting symptoms awful for which I had no tools to cope with, but the end of this film, HEAT, it just dissipated all this negative energy from inside me and left me cold, empty and devoid of the emotional tears in the fabric of a life, and so rather put me calm and at peace I love this ending, I love the piano, I love the existential overtones and refusal to bow to the inevitable----refusal to bow to going back inside. Anyone who can die on principle deserves special recognition. "Told you I'm never going back." Bravo, magnifico!

I was on a flight from Nashville to Dallas back in May and while the plane was sitting on the runway waiting to takeoff this song started playing on my phone. Great song and love the movie Heat (1995) 😁🎉
This was existential music. We exist, and that's the starting point for existence. Life is cold, life is blue, life is transient, and life is intangible. It's what we make of it, and significance and existence, is what we decide it is. Cheer for who you want. Love who you want. Mourn who you must.

THE best movie of all time, and the way movies are now that will never change imo.
booster0636 best movie ever made! Best soundtrack ever! Micheal Mann, what a line up of actors, even tone loc got a part !
- "Told you I'm never going back."
- "Yeah..."
Epic scene which always makes me emotional.

This is the all time greatest movie ever in history.
Ben Blackwood this is my favourite ever film too. Still waiting for the day when I see something better.
you are god damn right!
This movie with 2 great actors and the touching ending score awesome!!!😍
Its Michael Mann..say no more 😎💪👍
Hi Ben Blackwood. What is the meaning of your obama-adolf profile photo? I am not trying to be confrontational at all. But I am curious as to what it means.
Neitzche was right, " without music, life would be a mistake ".What a privilege this piece is, easy to find yet still rare.
im wearing a sweater with that exact quote. Just hearing this song brings a lump to my throat. such a stunning movie and score.
It might have music, but it's still a mistake.
The moment where Vincent spins the distraught mother around, and around to avert her from seeing her murdered daughter just breaks me.... shows his compassion, but also his self-preservation, the way he doesn't make eye-contact with her...
It really was one of Al's finest performances. The whole film is littered with great actors managed brilliantly by Mann. The silences speak volumes in large parts of the movie.
I never considered the self-preservation aspect of it before. Interesting take. It adds a level to the character I hadn't really recognized.
2:33 the cinema lights came on and NOBODY moved from their seats.
Same here. Lights came on and the audience was absorbing what just happened. The date was January 6th, 1996. I will never forget this movie.
@@jameshoran8 what a lucky guy. Sucks I was born in 1995. And I swear on my mother, I haven't seen a actor better than De Niro. Greatest ever. I would pay my yearly earnings to watch this back in 1995.
Same here. I can still remember it vividly - my now ex girlfriend trying to drag me away. I’m getting goosebumps just listening to this music. Michael Mann is so underrated.
Perhaps the greatest action thriller of all time, and most certainly one of the greatest films ever.
Gives me chills every time I hear it. An amazing song to a mesmerizing final scene for one of the best films ever made. What else do I have to say?
That sypnosis has sumed up the whole film perfectly. Simply a flat out masterpiece with EVERYONE bringing their A game. Never tire of this. Never
I own it. Have watched it about 15 times. Just finished it again. Raw,powerful,thrilling...great movie.
This film....Masterpiece.
Acting, plot, direction, music score...
Damn, is it really 25 years old.
Word!!!!!!
Agreed 👍
I watched this film back in 1995 whilst at uni in Liverpool at the Cannon Cinema (previously ABC) a real old fashioned picture house. I was completely spellbound by this film and music score. If there's an afterlife it would be to go back to that time and cinema to watch this again.
Pure respect. it's gone now. great comment.
it's those small moments that make big memories.

Thank you for putting in Deniro's theme. I love that moment when he decides to go after Wiengro. You can see the exact moment he changes his mind on his face. The decision that leads to his death.
He had to do it. I would have.
@@kareystone2285 idk I think the smart thing to do would've been to tell his guy to keep tabs on him until he could come back later and kill him. Or let him go completely. But when he started a relationship it also started a trend of going against his code. He started taking more chances. Which led to his end. But I don't think he would've done it had he not started seeing that woman.
That moment when he's driving and decides to turn the wheel, you can see his struggle with the decision, on his face in the seconds just before turning the steering wheel. One of my favourite de Niro moments. And that of course seals his fate.
“There’s time”
De Niro is the greatest. None better
I just finished the movie. What a brilliant masterpiece. The ending was so sad! 😭
I saw it in the cinema when it first came out in 1995. I knew I was going to be watching something good but I didn’t realIse how good. No movie has topped it since.
Sad, but powerful... :) "Told you I'm never going back..." - Neil
At the age of 18, i saw my first movie at a cinema, and this was it. Had never heard of Pacino or De Niro being from a refugee family. Damn never saw a TV till 83. I got given a great life in Australia and am a cinematic expert.....This is still the best movie, film, soundtrack EVER!!!
@@NaseerAhmad-vp8qg 👍 What a great movie to see as your first! 🔥HEAT🔥
@@mattwilkins9978 Yeah but it kind of set the precedence for me, and then ive been disappointed by pretty much everything after that. There are some, but nothing has ever come close the the cinematic experience of this film.
My brother died in June of last year... and he loved the track. He never got to see heat he always told me he needed to rent a room and watch it. Rest easy big bro. Now you can watch it in heaven.
Sorry for your loss. Was he jabbed?
"God Moving Over The Face of the Waters" is surely a song which sounds like it came from above
Is there some reference to the movie he was speaking of he saw in a clip that I'm not understanding? Still, live in Heaven. ❤
Are you telling that for the likes? Tbh who really cares?
The soundtrack to this film is a masterpiece. Not only the film score, but, if you watch it again observe the background sounds that only your subconscious picks up. It’s adds to the whole atmospheric sphere to the movie.
I’m so glad other people notice
Well said. I agree
This is My song to die to. It's just perfect. The cascading piano feels like trepidation, the strings fill me with re-assurance that it's going to be ok. We're going OHM to the divine spirit.

Saw this film in a small cinema in northern Norway back in 1995. When the end credits rolled I think everybody in the audience knew they had witnessed something truly exceptional. The story, directing, photography, editing, acting and the evocative, haunting music coalesced into an epic masterpiece for the ages. I think people will be watching and discussing this movie in a hundred years from now.
Im glad someone finally posted the credits version. Most beautiful movie ever.

This movie had so many subplots. But the thing is.....both of those men were different but literally the same person. The scene in the diner where Deniro says maybe we will never see each other again. Watch how Pacino and Deniro look at each other. They know they will see each other and more than likely die at the hands of the other.
And they dont like what they see.
They're not literally the same person, De Niro's character doesn't go around shooting at innocent people.

romeo garcia yess great ending song for a wonderfull movie !! 😎👍
Such an emotional ending. You can see the tears in Pacinos eyes.
that's acting. real acting. no fake tears, no visine. emotion.
romeo garcia It is the perfect song for an awesome ending. But you realize that Michael Mann stole this whole movie idea from a made-for-tv movie that had come out years before
They made each other. .complete 😎
"It is not having entered the dark house, but having left it, that matters." Blessings to you, and prayers for your continued health.
This is the coolest theme I have ever heard. That 8 to 10 minutes interaction between de niro & pacino is pure CLASS. No match till date.
One of the greatest reminders of how the best music can help enhance the mood of a movie.
Best movie of the 1990’s.
Yes, you are Right ! But for me also best Movie of the 90‘s are goodfellas, Casino, Blood in blood out and Carlitos way.

We will never get a movie like this ever again, hats off to Michael Mann and everyone else involved in the production

You haven't seen Joker yet.

The Irishman
The Irishman was absolutely astounding and Deep! Any movie with Robert De Niro or Al Pacino or especially movies with both of them in it are going to be above and beyond!
Glad to hearing this song again in Gran Turismo's ending, this song will always be a forever G.O.A.T. 🙏❤

Believe it was late '95, myself and group of friends went to the cinema to watch HEAT. Had no idea that film would stick with me forever, the ending wow, so powerful. Moby soundtrack to finish, just blew my mind. I just wanted to sit and cry, emotion rollercoaster. No other film has ever had that effect. Stunning.

One of the best movies of the 1990s. Mid 90s was just some of the best times of my life and this movie just always seems to remind me of how deserving I am to be here because I greatly appreciate life and how wonderful it is.

For me, this motion picture is the greatest, EVER. Masterpiece!
It’s not a movie you watch, it’s a movie you live, feel, embrace. Can’t explain it but each time I watch it (more than 10 times now), I feel transcended. This movie is a journey full of deep emotions. The scenery, the music, the blue color Michael Mann uses… Time stands still when you watch this movie.

A MICHAEL MANN FILM
Just legendary
One of the best closing scenes ever to a movie.
This track came out @ 3 months before this movie. And I would put this track on while heading home after work . The traffic always bother me ( I live in L.A. ). But not at all while hearing this. As soon as I listened to this, I said this track should be in a movie. After a couple of months it was made the theme song for Heat. What a beauty!
I love the level of respect and honour the cop (Vincent) and the criminal (Neil) have towards each other because both of them understand themselves but they understand each other as for in the ending when Neil dies Vincent holds his hand as a sign of respect and honour even though he’s literally just killed him he still respects him and that is true story telling power on the big screen
One of the best ending Themes to one of the best films of all time 👏
*A clinic of acting from all the actors. Saw this movie three times when it opened. The audience was mesmerized with the bank hold up scenes. Even the seats vibrate. And the last scene with this background music. Michael Mann made a masterpiece. It could have been made two or three weeks ago. It's a timeless movie.*

I was on a flight from Nashville to Dallas back in May and while the plane was sitting on the runway waiting to takeoff this song started playing on my phone. Timeless classic; never get tired of watching this, my all time favourite!!
This was existential music. We exist, and that's the starting point for existence. Life is cold, life is blue, life is transient, and life is intangible. It's what we make of it, and significance and existence, is what we decide it is. Cheer for who you want. Love who you want. Mourn who you must.
