So Doja Cat did the impossible and won some major awards in R&B at the Billboard Music Awards. But Summer Walker and her fans aren’t having this and Doja is being DRAGGED online. What does Summer have to say about it, and did she really DRAG Billboard? Is Summer Walker about to start feuding with Doja Cat? Girlll, WHATT?!
Okay, guys, so the Billboard Music Awards took place a couple of days ago, and well, things were pretty interesting. No, I’m not talking about the hot mess that was Cara Delevinge, cause girrlll, Cara scared me out. There have been rumors of her liking nose sugar a little too much, if you know what I mean. I’m not saying that I believe this, but what was she even doing on the red carpet with Megan thee Stallion?

She's not mad at Doja, she's upset with the inaccurate categorizing at the award show. Doja does RnB, & also experiments with **many** other genres. She's extremely versatile, but remains predominately pop. You can have 1 rock song on your album, but it won't make the record a solidified rock album. The same thing happened with Ari Lennox at the soul train awards. There's no beef between the artists.. though fans may try to push it. These type of frustrations are expected from someone who's passionate about their work

You have Summer, you got SZA, Ari Lennox, Jasmine Sullivan, etc.. Awarding Doja Female R&B album is literally a slap in the face to those women 👋🏽

I agree that Doja wasn’t too happy accepting that award. I also think by her team or whoever is doing this, Is putting a huge target on Doja‘s back and making it harder for her. Because even though it may be just an award to some of these artists, others do work hard and want the proper acknowledgment.

Doja Cat doesn't have a specific genre just like Prince, Michael Jackson and many others. I've heard at least four from her(r&b, hip hop, rap and pop).

It’s not her fault she versatile, she has songs in almost every genre of music. That’s what an artist should be able to do.
But the majority of her music is rap/pop. While I completely agree with ur statement that an artist should be versatile, I felt that placing her in a category she had very little to do with was unfair to the artists that specialize in that genre of music.

I love how doja is simply her own genre, because she is always mixing 2 to 3 genres in one song. So I get why it's hard to categorize her. Though I never really listened to summer walker but I know for a fact doja hasn't made a lot of Rmb music to even get categorize in it. Billboards not only messed up the award for actual rmb artist but they also put doja in a messed up situation for even getting the award. Back when Doja Dropped the Bitch I’m A Cow video I knew she was going to blow up as an artist but I had no idea how she was going to sound to the present. I knew she was special and she is absolutely amazing. SZA is my first favorite in current R&B, and has been from when her Cntrl first dropped. She has a gift all her own that is amazing. Back when Summer Walkers Last Day Of Summer popped up on iTunes I was blown away by her beautiful vibes and as she continued with Over It, and Still Over It, her beautiful songs hit me like the titanic hitting and iceberg
I love all 3 of the artists so much and I couldn’t be without their beautiful songs and albums after experiencing such beautiful vibes from them all

Some artists stick with one genre while others feel more comfortable with the genre that’s called ‘EXPRESSION THROUGH MUSIC’ which is basically more than one.
Multiple artists have made tracks and won awards for songs in multiple categories.
Nicki Minaj for example can go under Pop and Hip Hop/Rap. She’s won awards for both. Another example is Prince.
Never get mixed up in what an artist does, especially their music when you literally can’t categorize the songs that the artist has put out.

I'm not sure if folks understood the beginning of doja's speech but the way she said, "you HAVE Summer Walker, you have Sza etc." Was literally her way of nicely saying, you do have artists who are making different genres of music under these categories, you don't have to and shouldn't be trying to put me in every category just because I'm a black girl singing. Respectfully she knows that the award was wrongfully given.
