Merry Christmas and thanks for doing this! I am going to see if the AARP has made one for us folks over 50! (Well, WAY over 50!) I've been in the south long enough I guess that my hearing has tuned back to where I can't keep up with the dialogue (or monologue in this case) AND in spite of recent refraction corrections to my eyes, there is so much hand movement by the right hand there, that I can't tell which motions actually have functions, and are significant. I am only 9 minutes in to it (for the third time though) so maybe I'll appreciate it after a while. But, like I said, I appreciate the time and effort that went in to doing it!
As a stock Android Nexus fan honestly the more I see the Nexus 9 the more I'm unimpressed by it. The starting $399 price tag in my opinion is absurd. To me besides the boom sound the tablet is meh. I'm more impressed with the Nvidia Shield tablet especially with it being updated to Android L and the extra gaming features that's implemented with stock Android. It's not the most handsome tablet and is a bit on the thick side, but for $299 I think it's the best bang for buck as far as a tablet this year. Edit: Also I want to add that the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is in my opinion hands down the best tablet to this day.
***** I realize that, it's just that your arguments against the Shield is about its biggest strength rather than its weaknesses. Which I already covered.
Great review, considering buying the Nexus 9. Don't get me wrong but Apple iPad is just a name, but no changes in hardware specs. I like how the new android lollipop 5.0 work in performance.
Great video thanks for the upload. its the first review of the nexus 9 I've seen. However noticed dust on your desk which made the video look less clean than normal and also I'm not a fan of seeing your reflection and the camera on the nexus screen.
I had to ramp up the exposure and lighting for the black material, which also attracts dust because it's grippy. I always have this issue, even though I'm incredibly fastidious.
The BEST reviews on the internet hands down!!! I actually look forward to your videos like I do do my fav. tv shows :D Please review the Droid Turbo next :)
Thank you for the great video. You have so much more info on the Nexus 9 than anyone else has. I have the black one and my partner has the white one. I find mine has very little light bleed but my partners white one has tons of light bleeding so he is going to return his in hopes of getting a better one. Also, the white back feels very cheap and almost like it is not really attached to the tablet. Where as the black back feels much better and no air in it like the white one that feels like you should peel it off.
Wow that sucks. Keep taking them back until you get a good one. Mine can't be the only one that doesn't have bleed. Good luck and keep me posted if you don't mind.
***** only with pre production versions that reviewers were given as a preview and they were only told to hold off with the reviews because Lollipop wasn't finished and the tablet wasn't the full release version
the best review so far! I'm planning to buy a new tablet, I'm between the iPad Air 2 and the nexus 9 which but I'm inclined to the iPad, what do you guys think?
Nice review of Android 5.0 lollipop, interesting that they have incorporated some stuff that has been present on Samsung devices for awhile now... But what about the overall performance of the Nexus 9 itself? Seems like it should be priced more in the $250-299 range, esp. With 4:3 aspect ratio. I'm coming from a Galaxy Tab S 10.5 . I was considering Nexus 9 mainly due to lollipop, but now may wait for the Galaxy Note 10.1 2015 edition which should be announced by Dec. or Jan. Do you think its wise for me to wait?
Hello Mike, Thank you for the video. 1. Can you slow down a bit in your delivery of information for the product. Along with the quick edits it can be hard to follow along with the nomenclature or feature you are explaining. Also if you are not familiar with the Android operating system, moving through features can appear confusing. I refer a lot of new Android users to your extensive videos. Especially on the Samsung devices. 2. From what I can tell from this video, the Asus built Nexus 7 appears to be superior in fit, finish, and overall design than this HTC version. The Asus product was a "budget-minded" tablet at under $300. The tech in the device, including the screen was impressive. The pop-off pack panel was not, but the device still felt sturdy enough for everyday use, even compared to last year's Samsung devices. Once again, thank you for the video, and your time. Matt
You just did the right job Almost two reviews in one the device and the software since it's the first device to have lollipop taste And still waiting for the apple in a year video Keep up
I was really looking forward to this tablet but all in all I'm not sure it's really worth it. Being 4:3 without an SD card pretty much makes it the equivalent of an iPad running Android that can't perform as well as an iPad. Especially with that screen back light bleeding though and how flexible it is. It would be a great tablet if it was priced between $250-$300 but for $400 and already having a Nexus 7 2013 I think I'd rather get the iPad Air 1/2.
Watching this on my Nexus 9! This thing is built like a tank, when other tablet manufacturers are going thin Google stayed fat! Next time add an SD expansion port. Great review Mike!
***** Nice detailed review. I felt that google should have stayed with making 7 inch tablets. Google (Asus) was basically the first company to make these type of tablets and now I'm a bit disappointed they stopped making them. Anyway, thanks for this awesome review!
Mike do you recommend replacing the N7 2013 for this one? I am looking for an all in one tablet since I use it for everything: reading, homework, gaming, browsing. My N7 still rocks but I was wondering if a bigger one would be a nice upgrade.
AWESOME VIDEO MIKE LOL AND I HAVE BEEN WAITING ALL WEEK FOR THIS AND I REALLY LIKE THE IPAD BETTER I HEAR THEIR GOING TO HAVE A TV DISPLAY!!..BUT GREAT REVIEW MIKE!!!
Does the screen pinning implement security settings? That said, if I try and exit it and the device has a pin or pattern enabled, do you have to enter that to exit the pinned screen?
Great review, mike.. I'm looking for tablet on holiday season. My concern is about performance and ecosystem. Little bit confuse to choose. Apple, Google, or Microsoft ? Any suggest for me ?? Thanks before, keep up the channel. :)
I'd say choosing Google's ecosystem is your best choice. Choosing Apple will just bring you into it's economy where all you have to buy is apple products to get a full experience between iOS and Mac OS and it's also really close-spaced. Choosing Microsoft will depend on your taste, if you have a Windows 8/8.1 computer and you use OneDrive, OutLook and all the standard Windows 8 tiled apps then you may go for Microsoft. But, if you have mixed deviced and mixed opinions about different companies you should go with Google, accessed from anywhere on the web or downloaded both from the Play Store and App Store. Also, having a Google device will give you the fastest updates and more features as Google is really fast in growing with development of it's apps (for example, Inbox was just introduced to their apps family). Did that answer your question? :)
I've already own a microsoft laptop and android smartphone. Need a continuity to get job done and great play games between my laptop, smartphone, and tablet that i'm gonna buy. Seems like Google's Nexus 9 is a wise choice. Think that Apple's iPad Air 2 have a higher price tag :D Btw, thanks for reply. It helps me. :)
The Nexus 5 also had light bleed issues, but it should be a manufacturing issue solved with hardware revisions, because mine doesn't have it. I know, different company, different device, but I think it's the same story.
Why is this tablet by HTC but also by Google Nexus? And why is the Nexus 6 by Motorola? Im really confused. I thought Google owned Motorola? Do they not? 😞
i will say this all the time. This guy knows how to review tech. Not rushed, not biased, not boring.
Thank you very much!
This is the most accurate statement about him ever. 👌
Totally agree with you Joaquim,Mike is a true professional.
I agree!!
*#Google** **#Nexus** #9 **#Tablet** (8.9-Inch, 16 GB, Black)* with the best price on amzn.to/11w8inX. Don't miss this good opportunity! Nice day!
Mike is the best tech reviewer on RUclips. No contest.
I am very sick of "first impression" videos other tech reviewers do.
So fluid. Absolutely no lag. My iPad Air feels laggy after watching this vid.
As a long-time iPad user, this is the first Nexus tablet that tempts me.
Hey man you should work for the verge. You are much much better reviewer than any of their employees! Lol. Nice review like always

Best nexus9 review so far
he is the best one who can do good reviews ......
i love howhe goes through every possible detail in his reviews unlike some people who just review what they were expecting
Best Nexus 9 Review Definitely, Saw Everything I Wanted To See! Good Job Mike.

***** um I'm quite sure you can play the games from the Play Store on the Shield. It's a fully functioning tablet optimized for gaming.
***** I think it would best serve you to just say you prefer the Nexus 9.
***** I realize that, it's just that your arguments against the Shield is about its biggest strength rather than its weaknesses. Which I already covered.
I Finn I think you should buy and try it than return it if it isn't worth it to you
***** all due respect you're just not making much sense.
I like how when the instagram post "I love my whore family" showed up, he played it off. Thats real dedication right there
Lollipop looks really, really nice.
FINALLY!! I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOUR VIDEO ALL WEEK!! THANKS MIKE
FINALLY!! A VIDEO ON THE NEXUS! :)
The best Nexus 9 review on RUclips so far! Thank you DetroitBORG! :)
Excellent job, man! Keep it up 👆

Great Unboxing as usual...!

***** I see. thanks for the reply.
Mike you have Modern Combat 5 installed on the Nexus 9. I love that game.
Please do the unboxing and review of the Nexus 6. 😃
Very clean unboxing.
You've done a very good job *****

I love DetroitBorg. He is the #1 in tech reviews. I am thinking of getting this tablet.

Unless you're mostly watching videos, 4:3 is a much better screen ratio for a tablet
Galaxy
Great video as always
I have been searching for a good comprehensive review of the Nexus 9. Thank you so much! outstanding review

Hey Mike! Thanks for the review. Wonder why they havent fixed that light bleed issue. Been hearing that since the first gen nexus 7. Great review!
My phone literally opened Google now when you said Okay Google.
Great video, DetroitBORG! :)

Watching this on my Nexus 9! This thing is built like a tank, when other tablet manufacturers are going thin Google stayed fat! Next time add an SD expansion port. Great review Mike!
My favorite reviewer, As always, right on point!
best review I've seen on this. Great vid!
Can you do a Nvidia Shield tablet review? Or maybe a comparison to shield vs nexus 9?
***** Nice detailed review. I felt that google should have stayed with making 7 inch tablets. Google (Asus) was basically the first company to make these type of tablets and now I'm a bit disappointed they stopped making them. Anyway, thanks for this awesome review!
Spotted droid turbo ! Little sneak peak?! lol

AWESOME VIDEO MIKE LOL AND I HAVE BEEN WAITING ALL WEEK FOR THIS AND I REALLY LIKE THE IPAD BETTER I HEAR THEIR GOING TO HAVE A TV DISPLAY!!..BUT GREAT REVIEW MIKE!!!

That flip though..
What an excellent review. It covers all the points perfectly.
My Nexus 9 doesn't seem to have the flex/back light bleed people have been complaining about. That's unfortunate yours did.
Lol the Instagram picture from RWJ
This is the best review I could've ever asked for. Nice! Google destroys the iPad with this sucker.
Are the speakers alone the reason why the HTC logo is on the back.
I have light bleeding on my nexus 5 as well, and I dropped it once and it got worse in one corner
best reviewer out there great job!
What do you think is better, iPad Air 2 or Nexus 9?
Will you make a review on nexus 6 ? When ?
nice unboxing
Can't wait for the nexus 6 review... 😁
What does he say exactly "whats's up guys Mike here (we or the ) DetroitBorg?
I love your presentation, this is a great tablet for me! :)
How much available storage do you get with the 16GB model? *****

Mohammad Wildan Nexus 9 or even Nexus 7 is a great choice in this kind of scenario! :) No problem!
"I love my whore family" I lost it right there. XD
Can you do a tablet comparison and conclusion for school students
Excellent Review, Take NOTE iVerge.

Ausum overview ...
When will u unbox the google nexus 6??
Excuse me Mr.Detroid but will you be doing a video on The nexus 6 and if you have done so already I apologize hahah
Good and fair review .... Thanks a lot and keep it up.... 😊
how is the case for the nexus 9? early impressions reviews were not very positive
Why is this tablet by HTC but also by Google Nexus? And why is the Nexus 6 by Motorola? Im really confused. I thought Google owned Motorola? Do they not? 😞
Actually Google hires operators to create a tablet or it's more called a partnership so each kind of Nexus is manufactured by different brand :0
Great detailed video like always!
That light bleeding is extremely unfortunate, especially at the price.
Is there any option to change the theme color to black? Because white color will eat more battery!
