      Well, obviously I disagree but that's fine. I actually appreciate your way of voicing your opinion, which is something I can't say about Ev1lL33tC4m31C4s3Sp34k there. Personally, I think there are such rhetoric gems hidden in Yahtzee's rapid-fire presentation that it's totally worth reminiscing about them a bit in the comments. Again, if you disagree, I can totally see where you're coming from.
      Even more constructive would've been if you highlighted which kind of comment or even which specific comment or comments you enjoy more than posts such as mine. This actually interests me. Which hidden gem did I bury by just repeating a great line from the video?

      IMO they approached this like "let's make 'Stick of Truth," but a real game, not some cute half-assed thing--why couldn't this be a real RPG?" And they pretty much did it? Maybe it fails a little in game systems just being there to reproduce the same gameplay, as opposed to making you feel more powerful...maybe why Yahtz is a little down on it, him being sick of those game systems. But for me, I just can't get into most modern games, so when one actually works for me, I tend to enjoy those game systems as they were intended. (Like Ubisoft stuff in "Spiderman"--I am actually enjoying swinging around, so hit me with the map markers.)

    The Jared from Subway boss stands out from that game. And the whole situation with your parents dying and each of them begging you to kill the other one. There's also a secret Morgan Freeman boss that's fun and challenging. But now that you mention it, SoT was more outrageous and memorable. I wasn't disappointed in this one, though.

    I've just finished playing them both, one after the other. I have to say, FBH is a clear improvement, mechanically at least. It fixes a lot of annoyances I had in SoT. You don't have to hold a button to run; loot is picked up automatically from chests and battles; areas with missable collectables aren't locked off permanently after its quest is done; you can change your class midgame if you're unhappy with it; I found the gear change saved me a lot of time fiddling in the menus and altogether found the game to be a lot more streamlined. Whether or not the story is any funnier or enjoyable, I'm still not sure. Neither plot was very compelling or interesting. And I think it was a mistake to give you access to so many classes in the mid to late game, since you could just pick and choose the skills you like from any class, so why did you ever have to choose one or two? And the ending definitely did just go on... And on, way past it should've. Can't speak for the DLC, because it costs more than the base game now, but often it means the base game has suffered in some way for the sake of additional monetisation.
    TL;DR they're both good games, and FBH felt like a worthy sequel to me, but the story and combat systems seem to be a matter of personal taste. Hope to see another one in a couple of years time.

  • @wrennethestoner
    @wrennethestoner 7 лет назад +1

    Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.
    One little thing tho, if you play on the hardest difficulty settings, it does tend to pay off to actually read what each patch does, and focus on buffing up the right "stats" (for example, I found myself using a lot of characters that inflict damage by knocking the enemies around the battlefield, and I have a couple patches that are like 10 points lower than others, but they also boost knockback damage by a hefty percent.)
    All that said, my main point is that I wanna see an episode where you swap out that upbeat rock music with someone doing a Korn style scat imitation of said music. That would be really nifty.

    In the DLC for FbW, you gain the Netherborn class, which has 1 ability involving you pulling out a scythe and hitting everything in the exact same shape. Either brilliant, or an amazing coincidence.

    What has been pulling me back into Fractured But Whole is really just the premise: create your own superhero. With the booming popularity of superhero films, I’m dumbfounded that more developers haven’t thought to put out a game where you build your own superhero. Go back ten years, and there was City of Heroes/Villains and Freedom Force at least. We have DCU now, which is awesome for DC fans (I’d presume), but little of anything else in the way of customization. In spite of the saturation of superhero films and associated games to go along, role-playing as your very own superhero seems to be an inexplicably untapped market for video game developers.

    Stick of Truth is based on the show's LOTR episodes and the PS4/Xbox One war episodes too. I don't think it entirely relies on you seeing the show before, as it literally picks up where SOT left off. It's supposed to be the very next day.

    The ending of this game left me wanting more after the high of stick of truths ending, like how you were slowing building our characters religion , sex, gender, race was all building up to a great punchline at the end and it sort of didn't.
    Like if you picked your religion as christian then Jesus helps you in the final boss or depending on your gender you may or may not unlocked the most powerful fart power of them all, Queefing. (That would of been a nice reference to that episode)

      The ending of this game felt like the ending of an episode of the show, and that's fine by me. In fact, it's pretty damn reminiscent of the ending to the Superhero episodes themselves, where Mint-Berry Crunch saves the day and it's super anti-climactic and abrupt. It wasn't some super-boss to kill or some crazy twist, it just ended as stupidly as it should have, which just added to the humor imo.

    • @themadmystic1688
      @themadmystic1688 7 лет назад +1

      To be fair, there is more of an eerie feeling to DDLC than just the random jumpscares. That said, it really wasnt that scary, I found it more of a heartwarming or tearjerking experience. That may or may not have been because some of the things I had seen in life just as well, and we all know how memories can paint a picture over any canvas.

    If you like the South Park show, TFBW is an awesome game. Game play wise it's better than SOT's as the hardest difficulties (Mastermind, and the DLC: Diabolical difficulty modes) make the enemy AI a bit smarter well jacking up their defense/health, were as for SOT you just choose Thief and have Kyle spam arrows until the enemy is dead.
    In TFBW you have to strategize not only what buddies you have on field to help you, but also how they complement each other and your own move sets, how everyone is positioned on field to get the max out of your healers or entrapping enemies to kill them quicker/reduce the damage your team takes. You also in the higher difficulty have to really look at what moves your character class is using, match them with the best equipment that benefits the type of moves your using and the DNA boost you need. Even after every move is unlocked, you still need to be careful about how/when you use your powers as you are only limited to 4 all with different stats for damage, status effects, and other factors that could win or lose the battle.
    I liked that in TFBW you can wear whatever the hell you want and dye it whatever the hell you want (for most of the outfits, there is like 2 you can's edit the colours.). So I can run around with a purple bra on my head and wear a yellow mini skirt the whole game and not have to worry about their stats buffing my character to their max potential, I can just be happy with the outfit I choose to wear and not change it constantly (though I do change it constantly, I love dress up games and TFBW is a very great dress up game as well.).
    That said, I do wish the customization for your character that wasn't based on clothing, gave you unique benefits. Of course there is also a sh*t ton of "things" your character can be, so it would be hard not to just generalize some of the "perks" an option would give you. Like lets say being a "girl" you got a random chance of a "Charmed" or "Enraged" effect on a single enemy either at the start of a battle or from repeated physical contact. It could be possible this effect is also granted to Demi-girls, Non-binary Femme Boy/Girl/Person, or any of the other "female/effeminate" gender classes you get to choose. Of this could just be a random effect that happeneds with all the gender choices, (except with enemies that have a clear gender/species preference) random pawns would get a small amount of pseudo-characterization, instead of just being bunching bags. I also kind of wished there were slightly more options for the race/ethnicity PC principle gives you. South Park is a place where Gods, Aliens, Monsters, and even f*cking breakfast cereal are considered and treated like normal everyday people. It wouldn't be too outlandish for a species option was also given to your character (as long as it was humanoid, can't get too crazy here). Like Kyle's character sheet lists him as an Alien, Clyde's an Insect-Human hybrid, and Kenny's says he's Netherborn, even if these are made up identities, they put them on their character sheets and that is what you are supposed to be doing, it obviously didn't have to be a real recognized race. The religious options were fine, I mean they got most of the main religions out there and character that didn't have a "typical" religious belief, was Kyle who claimed to worship Kites (as part of his character persona) and Butters/Chaos Kids that idolize Entropy.
    Finally the only other problems I had with TFBW, was the story not being as zany as SOT's was, and the fact I like the fantasy/medieval theme more that superheros personally. I've always been more of a sci-fi/fantasy kind of person. The superheros theme was kind of wearing on me entertainment wise after 15 hours, where as the fantasy stuff kept me engaged till the end.
    TL:DR:
    It's a great game for South Park fans and those who like superheros. Though it feels like the studio could have spent a bit more time on development of the story and mechanics of the game to make it feel even more like your apart of South Park's Universe. If you like to dress up, you'll spend hours on this game just playing with the customization. If you like strategy I cannot recommend purchasing the "Danger Deck" DLC and playing on Diabolical, enough. The add on is worth it's $8 CND price (plus you get even more outfits!).
    This game gets a 8/10 from me and I look forward to the DLCs that are comming up!
