We have to replace our garage door. House is built into a hill so part of basement is garage.

Thanks so much for helping me get into the Christmas spirit. It has been difficult this year since my wonderful wife of 49 years passed away last April so this is my first Christmas without her. However, although I may have tears in my eyes, seeing Allie decorate and the joy it brings to everyone helps me to again feel the spirit.

My Dad moved to his dream home in Heaven at age 62,
(in 1 week). He never got to draw his SS.
We had no warning.
I grieved for 22 years until this past July 4.
We're a Military family over 4 generations.
I was immediately delivered by God while watching fireworks.
It would kill my Dad to see our Country in this shape.
All my family is gone.
I have my own, but not having Mom, Dad, Brother, & sister is hard.
I continue decorating for my children and grandchildren.

Who remembers the first Christmas on the mountain? Trent & Allie were living in the tiny hone on wheels, inside the white tent thing. The Christmas tree lived in a freezing, dried in but unfinished house and Leo was still growing happily inside mom.

My mom got sick and with no warning really passed away . She loved Xmas so much. My feelings are life is so short . I left my Xmas tree up for two years when she died. She was my friend and my only family where I live. If you want to decorate in feb who really cares. In the grand scheme of things life is short! Live decorate and have fun cause in one minute your whole world can change. Use the china not just for holidays! Don’t just have family meals at holidays. Call and tell all you love them and never take for granted🎄⛄️❤️🎅🏻

Hi Mary, Sorry to read that. My mom left us in 2016, and still now there aren't many days that I don't think about her in some way. It takes time for the hear to mend, but the great thing is, our mothers always stay alive in what we do. What we say. How we treat others, especially total strangers. And they always leave the most important thing they had, their love for their kids. That's what my Mom left in me.

So, while my Dad was still alive, he often would ask me to drive to the house (6 hours away.) and help him with chores and tasks he could no longer do on his own. I never minded until the time he presented me with a Garage Door he wanted to install. He got it for a steal because it was technically "Open Box" but had never been installed. I did not know IKEA made garage doors! Not really, but the instructions were very similar.. I ended up getting one of my old High School friends to come too, and with the three of us, we were successful . Hats off to you!

That door was like a Mechano set I had as a kid. (Yes I am female and 60 but Dad wanted an apprentice!) Ended up being a Pharmacist with a good DIY skill set.

Thank you Allie for inspiring me and giving me the strength to decorate this holiday. I have been struggling. It's been 2 years since I put up Christmas decorations as my dad took ill Christmas eve 2 years ago. He died several days later and mom 3 months after that. Christmas was always so special for my family. My mom with her homemade stocking and treats. Dad with his special surprises wrapped in toilet paper rolls. That first year without them I couldn't bear to put up a tree or pull the stockings out of the boxes. You have given me the strength to do it this year to honor the love for them, the memories and to carry on. A few tears were shed but the tree is up, festive candles all around and a wreath on the front door. I bought the supplies to make mom's signature treats for this year's gifts. God Bless you all and sending up a special prayer for your mom.Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤❤

I had to stop watching as Allie started to get choked up talking about her dear mom. Reminds me of my mom, who had a absolute love for Christmas bears. Lost my mom, Christmas morning 2021 and it's not been the same since.

I am a nurse and volunteered to work Christmas. My family is grown and gone. Now it is another nurse's turn to be home with her/his family on Christmas morning.

My mom and dad reminded us kids to remember the true reason for Christmas. It is not easy when you get hard news but through Jesus Christ you can make it and your family too. I am glad she is taking time off from the videos to think things through with what she is dealing with. I think we all do this when hit with stuff. You are all in my prayers 🙏.
