I've done a few basement rooms in my time. I've always used either dropped or ceiling tiles instead of drywall. Ceilings are best done by professionals doing plaster. Dropped are great for easy access in the basement ceilings. I also like the acoustic values of tiles.
There's something like a mylar mirror that looks like glass but won't break and is lightweight and comes on a roll. Great for workout rooms; just cut to desired shape, size, and apply on a frame.

Good Monday morning Trent, Allie, crew and family! Good to see another video. Sometimes we have to make decisions on the fly for the quickest, neatest yet functional results. I’m sure that yous will make it look great!🇺🇸🙏
Love your channel! I’m amazed how with your small crew is able to build so much. Love! Just one thought, you ever thought of alternative design for your walls so you don’t have to texture all the walls? Such as board and batten, bead board, shiplap, wall paper, mirror for the gym area? Perfect example why I appreciate mountain people... always ready willing and able to help folks in need. Can't find that in the city or some flatland areas of the country. Good on Trent for showing us what mountain community people are like.
In the UK and Ireland we put up the drywall (we call it plaster board) and then poster over the whole thing rather than do all the tiny bits, taping and mudding. @@ontheroadwithyode390 oh I see! It seems so much work when you could plaster and have it done so fast! The last lot of plastering I had done was less than a day for a medium sized room. It dried overnight and then I painted the next day.
Grayson and Brandon are working beast. They are a true blessing. I love how well you all work together. Every thing is looking so good. Who is this emergency guest? Your mom Allie?

But you can get different tips for the hopper for different textures. I am sure it's too late to help you with this job but it's something to know in the future.

If you run screws into the ductwork to hold up sheet rock, there is a possibility that the screws will sweat and soak dry wall. Due to air temperature inside of ductwork, verse air temperature in room. Hope not , just a thought
I mentioned problems with that previously, but I don't think they read comments. The expansion and contraction with heating and cooling will probably crack the seams as well. Certainly don't think it's up to code.
Great video!! Loved hearing Leo talking to Mom❤❤❤ He’s precious!! 🤗 Such beautiful scenery around you. 😍 You’re all doing a great job. Definitely cheering you on and excited to see the finished basement. ❤️🙏🏻❤️
Lydia from Cajun Country Livin' applies a similar structure on the walls with a sponge. I guess that takes a long time though and it would be very tedious to do it above your head.
I hate texture on drywall! The people that owned the house before us did thick texture all over and now I have to figure out a way to get rid of it without ripping it out
Trent…when it comes to drywall, just hire the garage crew. It will save your frustration and get you done quicker. And please don’t be so hard on yourself…your work will be fine.
Trent, it’s hard I know but just do your best and try not to beat yourself up,🙏 positive thoughts, positive vibes, positivity goes a long way to create a beautiful project 😊
I think they are going to hire the drywall crew that did the man cave and casita for the addition. They just didn't have enough time to schedule it out in advance.
with the textured ceiling dont paint as it will be easier to remove the texture at a later date. ceiling tile or suspended to access ceiling wireing and plumbing easier without riping holes in ceiling. and panelling or T &G boards tacky but fast and easy no mess and fuss. There is also a thermolastic type paint normall used for outdoors but could be used on ceilings .Its applied with a very course roller so it will cover lots of imperfections
My experience with textured ceiling is it can actually emphasize the imperfection..Bottom line is every thing is either well done or it's not. My guess is your work is just fine. 😉
Leo's so cute! I love seeing him just talking and having fun! You guys are doing great on this; that's a lot of work!! Hope that it turns out the way you want. Have a good week. (from Sandi)

hard workers working for you. Bless you all.
Jennifer must feel super rotund being around them.

Wow.. how rude
@@Jkaye13 well she is rotund.
Sorry for your loss. In my prayers.
I bought my first house and almost fully renovated it myself except for mechanical systems . Good job! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You always make it... Not worried!
What an amazing crew you have on this Journey to complete the bedroom and then the addition! Look awesome
Great video!! Loved hearing Leo talking to Mom❤❤❤ He’s precious!! 🤗 Such beautiful scenery around you. 😍 You’re all doing a great job. Definitely cheering you on and excited to see the finished basement. ❤️🙏🏻❤️
Trent, we are always rooting for you, Allie, and the whole team!
I swear Brandon could do voiceovers...lovely texture and tone to his voice.
Erm.....lightweight wood tongue and groove ceiling at a later date?
Lydia from Cajun Country Livin' applies a similar structure on the walls with a sponge. I guess that takes a long time though and it would be very tedious to do it above your head.
I wish I didn't have to wait until Friday. Great video.
You got this...and ready to move on. Well done!
I’m sure you guys got it done in time. You’ve got an amazing crew!!!🤗
I hate texture on drywall! The people that owned the house before us did thick texture all over and now I have to figure out a way to get rid of it without ripping it out
You are very nice always helping everyone
Trent…when it comes to drywall, just hire the garage crew. It will save your frustration and get you done quicker. And please don’t be so hard on yourself…your work will be fine.
Trent, it’s hard I know but just do your best and try not to beat yourself up,🙏 positive thoughts, positive vibes, positivity goes a long way to create a beautiful project 😊
I think they are going to hire the drywall crew that did the man cave and casita for the addition. They just didn't have enough time to schedule it out in advance.
I would have tongue and grooved the ceilings as I hate sheetrock ceilings
There’s always bead-board for the ceiling with a hint of blue.
That is a great idea!
with the textured ceiling dont paint as it will be easier to remove the texture at a later date. ceiling tile or suspended to access ceiling wireing and plumbing easier without riping holes in ceiling. and panelling or T &G boards tacky but fast and easy no mess and fuss.
