All sound really good. The higher rate IR's seem to be the slight difference in isolation. In a mix, a casual listener couldn't tell them apart. Just us tone geeks debating minutae most of the time 🤣 Great video as always Leo. You've really hit your stride in the video production process. Always enjoyable to watch your videos my friend. Leo. In my opinion, Nux has confused a bit the users with the MG-30 and MG-400. They are so similar, with pro and cons (your previous video was very clear). Thanks for the very clear videos, also because you are a great player.
Great video, it's helped me decide which to buy . I've used an mg 300 for years , but it stopped working yesterday so I'm looking to replace it . I did buy the mg30 a few years ago but never got on with it. I knew it was supposed to sound better but I never could get a sound I liked from it, they seemed to lack warmth. I'll go for the mg400 to replace my 300 as I go busking and it's lighter to carry around .

I just got my mg30 and as you suggested on my previous question, it cannot do multiple signal chain, except for fx and mod which can have up to 3 of them all together simultaneously. Overall I'm happy with the upgrade, I would still opt for mg30 instead of mg400 for the build quality and aesthetics :D
I own the mg-300 and never could play for a long time with it (play for a few hours and leave for a month). Not sure what is wrong, but I keep going back to a cheap solid state amp (Hotone nanolegacy) or just play without amplification or acoustic guitar.
more recently i used the mg300 for acoustic guitar impulse response- for recording . i also mic'ed an acoustic . the nux did very well in the mix . i used a guitar that has a built in piezo system , and then real acoustic guitar ir's. this is a really cool trick for recording . the album is on my channel . - HOKUM .
I sent mail asking product team to add Orange bass cabinet. They said what model I'd suggest. If they update this, they will be the best customer support EVER!
I'm happy with my MG-30 but I guess and I hope soon we will see MG-40 coming out. The tone difference between MG-400 and MG-30 could be because 512 Vs 1024 IR's samples though there is not mention on what kind of DSP are used in MG-400 so it's also possible it have less powerful DSP

I've learned to play guitar by ear and have been doing so for over 45 years, so I think my ear is pretty good.. 😛 They were so close to me that I would get one on features for sure over tones! But the MG30 has more features, and it's expensive prize compare to his 2 Brothers (MG300 and MG400) The more highly prize or expensive, the more sound great and durable. (It's just my opinion and observation, ✌️✌️✌️). I have already bought MG30 few months ago.

My biggest complaint with NUX is they produce too much too fast and I think I would have rather the 30 or 400 but I got the 300 right out the gate. It's all great gear so it's a good problem

Grazie 1000 Gianluca... PEr me è sempre difficile dare pareri assoluti e suggerire un'unità piuttosto che un'altra, visto che non conosco il dettaglio delle tue esigenze. Tutte le unità che citi sono buone...a me Headrush non piace tanto, perchè manca dell'app per pc e ha una simulazione dei cab piuttosto primitiva (visto il costo)....il resto delle macchine che citi sono buone....dipende un pò da ciò che preferisci. To my ears, they all sound good. I guess your extremely musical playing helps quite a bit, but I'd be happy with any of those. I think it's extremely hard to make a buying decision these days, because the market is just flooded with usable and, for the most part, very affordable gear. I'm still fighting my old HD500X, but thoughts about replacing it have been circulating for some time. The problem is just... what the heck do I buy? And EVERY time I start to gravitate toward a specific unit, something new pops up out of nowhere, like the MG 400... I guess it's quite a luxury problem to have, but... still (kind of) a problem. 😄
Also looking to sell and replace my HD500x. Now if I could just find somebody willing to buy. I think it's difficult with all the products out there now in a cheaper price range, that likely sound better than the HD500x anyway.
@@HELLNAWW I ended up buying something I (around the time of its release) NEVER thought I would buy - the Zoom G5n. It's still a bit underwhelming in certain areas, but the firmware upgrades have added more amps and cabs, and the G5n can definitely sound good. I think it's the simplicity that won me over in the end. Sure, not being able to load 3rd party IRs can be seen as a limitation, but it's one less thing to obsess over, and I honestly don't think I'll miss it at all. Same with not having a hundred amp models and tons of mic options. I definitely see it as a "good enough" type unit. For my needs anyway... 😄
I'm in the same situation. I have a HD500X on wich I'm now understood how to get a good sound and a very new owner of the NUX MG-300, I bought last week at a very low price, because it's so small and can be put in the guitar case pocket. At the last rehearsal I've connected both to the mixer and the NUX sounded better (even if we know it depends also on the mixer and the cab/mic simulation you are using). So I'm considering to sell the HD500X and take a NUX MG-30 for live sessions (or a Valeton GP-200). At the moment I would test the MG-300 better, then I'll decide what to do.
Just watched the video (i,ve asked for it 1 year ago hahaha). Awesome as always. Let me ask you this: mg30 is better than the mg400 most for it features (tonal, construction, ef. Loop etc). But heard some people opinions telling that the mg400 is easier to get a good sounding result comparing to the mg30 in which you have to tweak more. Do you agree with that? i have a mg400 and i would sell it to buy a mg30. But if this is true, i would prefer to keep the mg400 because i kind have less time and more lazyness to tweak my units. HI, the MG 30 has better build quality with a full metal chassis, then we have the MG 400, which is more plastiky, but feels robust and lastly the MG 300. Hard to say how they will age...I would say that the MG 30 seems to have the best built quality. Thank you for your question!
Hi Leo, just about to drop some money on the best modeler I can get for ~$300. Sounds like from the review the MG-30 is still on top from a features and durability (slight edge in sound as well). Is there anything else out there I should consider or is this still the best bang for the buck? Thanks!

I mean the G11 has more foot switches and allows you to access pedals like an analog pedalboard, therefore it should be easier if you are using for the first time an amp modeling pedalboard. On the other hand the Mx5 manages more complex signal chains, for instance with parallel effects, etc. Therefore it depends from what you need. Thank you
Does the 400 come with a pair of extra Footswitches and dual effects? The extra Footswitches if you wanna buy from the market makes up for the extra price in itself.. The MG 30 IMHO sounds more 3D...hence more analogue sounding... Maybe I am biased.
Hello I sold my mg 30 because i could'nt get a really good sound compare to my mg 300. Much better algorithm on the mg 300..and much more usefull Irs...

Easy to hear the difference between the MG 300 and the other two, but a bit difficult to differentiate between the MG400 and the MG30. That's the marketing talking, there all the same models and algorithms, the MG300 is the same sounds. Keep your money you got the best price without being suckered.
Hi Leo, thank you your comparison it’s always nice to hear you play that makes it good to hear the difference! I’n still in doubt to buy the MG-30 or MG-400. Couldn’t find any spec or comparison sheets for them. If the price difference doesn’t matter, what would you honestly recommend: the 30 or the 400? I could not hear the difference between them to be honest, they both sound great. I tend to the MG-30 because of the somewhat better quality (such as the metal housing). I’m just using the pedal in house with my humble studio (iMac) so probably that wouldn’t be an issue. Hope you can make the decision for me! 😊 Thank you!!

I have the mg30 the only thing I miss from it is a very lush reverb like empress or big sky type of almost endless very clean but spacious ambient stuff. Does anybody know something I don't? Can you make that reverb on it? Thanks Leo and anybody who could help.

Dear Gib, I agree with you. I would choose the g30 for various reasons already expressed by you, sounds, effects, loops, connections, etc etc I have a good ear, many years of experience. I do not consider myself a musician, but an amateur apprentice who over time has collected various instruments, from synths to samplers, mixers, speakers, Hammond amps. Today I have kept 26 guitars, 4 keyboards, a bass and 5 acoustics. I have eliminated many amps, I have kept 3, 2 trans a tube amp, but I have removed pedals, various effects that complicated my life. In these days I have wanted something new that my DAW logic does not give me. Effects, sounds terribly "muggy confused, pasty" the nux g30 has fully satisfied me. The only thing that stops me is that the price of the g30 is double the g300 and almost close to the g 400. So between the g400 and the g30, the difference is just 58 euros, but between the g300 that I wanted to buy there is an abyss with the g 30. My ear and experience says g30, my wallet says no. What to do, give me sincere advice. If anything I'll wait a bit. I've been retired for 6 years. Before I was a professional sportsman, I earned good money. Today much much less income, I have to "split hairs" ah ah I don't even have the long and thick hair of my 70s anymore. In fact I'm 70 years old. Greetings and thanks for your precious work.
@@naturabella2249i'm gojn with mg400 although can afford mg30.. cozz of its compactness, latency, and not that much need for me of having parallel effects and 11 signal chain.. also have seen many issues with mg30 .. myself bought mg30 last year and found that its knobs are not working.. few people's mg30 stopped working just after a month... but couldnt see any such issues with mg400 on entire internet.. may b cozz its a newer unit than mg30... i think they have tried to solve the bugs from mg30 into mg400.. therefore goin with it.. 🤘🤘

Good review. Got my Mg-300 and firstly replaced all stock IRs which sound pretty flat. After that device could sound closer to real amps.

PEr me è sempre difficile dare pareri assoluti e suggerire un'unità piuttosto che un'altra, visto che non conosco il dettaglio delle tue esigenze.
Tutte le unità che citi sono buone...a me Headrush non piace tanto, perchè manca dell'app per pc e ha una simulazione dei cab piuttosto primitiva (visto il costo)....il resto delle macchine che citi sono buone....dipende un pò da ciò che preferisci.

To my ears, they all sound good. I guess your extremely musical playing helps quite a bit, but I'd be happy with any of those. I think it's extremely hard to make a buying decision these days, because the market is just flooded with usable and, for the most part, very affordable gear. I'm still fighting my old HD500X, but thoughts about replacing it have been circulating for some time. The problem is just... what the heck do I buy? And EVERY time I start to gravitate toward a specific unit, something new pops up out of nowhere, like the MG 400... I guess it's quite a luxury problem to have, but... still (kind of) a problem. 😄

Also looking to sell and replace my HD500x. Now if I could just find somebody willing to buy. I think it's difficult with all the products out there now in a cheaper price range, that likely sound better than the HD500x anyway.
@@HELLNAWW I ended up buying something I (around the time of its release) NEVER thought I would buy - the Zoom G5n.
It's still a bit underwhelming in certain areas, but the firmware upgrades have added more amps and cabs, and the G5n can definitely sound good.
I think it's the simplicity that won me over in the end. Sure, not being able to load 3rd party IRs can be seen as a limitation, but it's one less thing to obsess over, and I honestly don't think I'll miss it at all. Same with not having a hundred amp models and tons of mic options. I definitely see it as a "good enough" type unit. For my needs anyway... 😄
I'm in the same situation. I have a HD500X on wich I'm now understood how to get a good sound and a very new owner of the NUX MG-300, I bought last week at a very low price, because it's so small and can be put in the guitar case pocket. At the last rehearsal I've connected both to the mixer and the NUX sounded better (even if we know it depends also on the mixer and the cab/mic simulation you are using). So I'm considering to sell the HD500X and take a NUX MG-30 for live sessions (or a Valeton GP-200). At the moment I would test the MG-300 better, then I'll decide what to do.
I prefer the “mushy” sound of the mg300 the other ones have annoying trebles .

Just watched the video (i,ve asked for it 1 year ago hahaha). Awesome as always. Let me ask you this: mg30 is better than the mg400 most for it features (tonal, construction, ef. Loop etc). But heard some people opinions telling that the mg400 is easier to get a good sounding result comparing to the mg30 in which you have to tweak more. Do you agree with that? i have a mg400 and i would sell it to buy a mg30. But if this is true, i would prefer to keep the mg400 because i kind have less time and more lazyness to tweak my units. HI, the MG 30 has better build quality with a full metal chassis, then we have the MG 400, which is more plastiky, but feels robust and lastly the MG 300. Hard to say how they will age...I would say that the MG 30 seems to have the best built quality.

Hi Leo, just about to drop some money on the best modeler I can get for ~$300. Sounds like from the review the MG-30 is still on top from a features and durability (slight edge in sound as well). Is there anything else out there I should consider or is this still the best bang for the buck? Thanks!
For sure these are very good options....other options could be from Valeton (GP 200 LT) or Ampero.

Hi, I should make a video comparison in order to provide you with my opinion. I think that the main difference is in the approach and the effect chain. I mean the G11 has more foot switches and allows you to access pedals like an analog pedalboard, therefore it should be easier if you are using for the first time an amp modeling pedalboard. On the other hand the Mx5 manages more complex signal chains, for instance with parallel effects, etc. Therefore it depends from what you need.

Does the 400 come with a pair of extra Footswitches and dual effects? The extra Footswitches if you wanna buy from the market makes up for the extra price in itself.. The MG 30 IMHO sounds more 3D...hence more analogue sounding... Maybe I am biased.

Easy to hear the difference between the MG 300 and the other two, but a bit difficult to differentiate between the MG400 and the MG30. However there’s a slight difference caused by the 512 vs 1024 bit IR, in my opinion.

Hi Leo, thank you your comparison it’s always nice to hear you play that makes it good to hear the difference! I’n still in doubt to buy the MG-30 or MG-400. Couldn’t find any spec or comparison sheets for them. If the price difference doesn’t matter, what would you honestly recommend: the 30 or the 400? I could not hear the difference between them to be honest, they both sound great. I tend to the MG-30 because of the somewhat better quality (such as the metal housing). I’m just using the pedal in house with my humble studio (iMac) so probably that wouldn’t be an issue. Hope you can make the decision for me! 😊 Thank you!!

The 30 is the flagship best one they make, so skip the 3 and 4 hundred for the 30
Mg400 seems the best value, differences between mg30 and mg400 seem quite small. Whereas mg300 is definitely a lesser unit tone wise.
I have the mg30 the only thing I miss from it is a very lush reverb like empress or big sky type of almost endless very clean but spacious ambient stuff. Does anybody know something I don't? Can you make that reverb on it? Thanks Leo and anybody who could help.
Try put decay and damp in high levels in the Hall reverb
mg30 has features I might never need as a bedroom guitarist.

Dear Gib, I agree with you. I would choose the g30 for various reasons already expressed by you, sounds, effects, loops, connections, etc etc I have a good ear, many years of experience. @@naturabella2249i'm gojn with mg400 although can afford mg30.. cozz of its compactness, latency, and not that much need for me of having parallel effects and 11 signal chain.. also have seen many issues with mg30 .. myself bought mg30 last year and found that its knobs are not working.. few people's mg30 stopped working just after a month... but couldnt see any such issues with mg400 on entire internet.. may b cozz its a newer unit than mg30... i think they have tried to solve the bugs from mg30 into mg400.. therefore goin with it.. 🤘🤘
