Sheed and Stackhouse made me fall in love with UNC. The '95 triple overtime game at Duke.
Double ot
Dean Smith was everything! That's the Carolina way! We look out for our own!!
Sheed played for my Heels and Knicks. Met him twice. Good dude! 1 of my all-time favorite players!
Wait……we could have gotten a year of Iverson and Sheed at Georgetown. That would have been something
Philly stand up. Def remember the Pub and thr stars it oroduced. Respect.
Dean Smith was a genius. Rasheed Wallace amazing player definitely in my Top 10 of all-time TAR HEELS
North Carolina was the best option. Temple is right in the middle of North Philly and would have been too much of a distraction for Sheed. Also, they were in the Atlantic 10 and you can't compare that to him going to the Tarheels in the ACC and competing against Duke, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech. Villanova may have been an interesting choice because they would have had Sheed, Jason Lawson, Alvin Williams and Kerry Kittles. That certainly was a championship level team. But I think overall, he wanted to get out of the city which was the right call. Also, a good percentage of the UNC guys, particularly from the Dean Smith era had decent to great careers (both during their careers and after), were mature and didn't really have too much life drama. He wouldn't have gotten that network and support at Temple or Villanova.
Also John Cheney while a good coach never really developed big men very well. And you’re probably right about Villanova and Temple being distractions because he’s so close to home. He probably would’ve been good at Georgetown too, played with Othella Harrington and Iverson and could’ve joined the Hoyas lineage of great bigs with Ewing, Mourning and Mutombo. But Coach Smith coming to recruit him the day after winning the national championship tho…
@@sickofguysnamedtodd2293, Georgetown would have also been a good fit and he likely would have stayed an extra year or so to play with Iverson more. What you mentioned about Chaney isn't discussed much but very accurate. He developed guards fairly well but the bigs were lacking.
If he went to temple university they would have won a national champion: Jones, mckie, Brunson and Wallace.
Rasheed, Webber, KG, Dirk, Duncan all hall of famers... What's the hold up Springfield?!
He was a technical foul machine and was the literal face of the “Jailblazers”.
@@broaddusmarines Jailblazers was a term created by racist white men.
Sheed is one of my FAVORITE all-time players!! It would have been GREAT to see him play under the late, GREAT LEGENDARY Coach Thompson!!
Alvin Williams Raptors legend!
we need an animated series of these stories
If Sheed had stayed in school instead of being a 1-and-Done, he wouldn't have had all those technicals.
He actually played two seasons at Carolina
Imma ask Tennis Lee Young who fault it was.
How is he going to call one of the greatest college coaches "sassy" no respect, just because he did not cuss, wow
You’re missing his meaning. He is giving and has the utmost respect for him. He’s giving props to him for having impact without the usual, customary way that coach do things.
Sheed at Georgetown would've been dope
