    The intangibles conversation is so interesting to me because as a Laker fan, the perception of Jarred Vanderbilt and Dlo completely misses that. Vando struggles as a scorer but defensively he wins games. Dlo is a scorer who has off nights but his presence on the court completely alters defenses and when he gets hot his 2-3 makes turn into 20 point runs. It’s hard to explain that without watching it and i can only imagine how hard it is to prove that when negotiating contracts

      This is stuff that the OG players talked about to the younger players on the roster. It wasn't meant to be shared with the fans, becsuse it was none of their business.

      I find this a very difficult topic. I understand players want to get paid what they are worth, especially early on in their career. At the same time, if you "settle" for 80% of your worth, the team can sign better players. Boston is the prime example of this: Tatum was still on a cheap deal and that allowed the Celtics to trade for holiday, porzingis and white. The argument that money left on the table goes directly to the owner is falls: most of it goes to building a better team. Maybe i'm too Dutch for this discussion but for me Melo is a prime example of a player who made so much money that his team was never able to contend. What did he bring the Knicks: 1 won playoff series?

    • @biscaynesupercars
      @biscaynesupercars 2 месяца назад +1

      @@maartenvz what have the knicks ever done? They didn’t win before Melo and they haven’t won after Melo. People that try to argue this should go to the employer and tell them they want less pay so they can hire more good employees at their job. But nobody would do that so why in the world would you expect an athlete, who has a job and employer like most people, to do that?

    This stuff happens in real life. Coworkers get pissed when their colleagues negotiate for or demand more, or worse, leave for a better position. Not everyone. But too many people like to paint others as greedy, when they know they wouldn't turn it down themselves. It's simply that they are too afraid to demand their worth and I'm not okay with that. My thing is, whether for the average Joe, if your skill is marketable and the company is profiting, you DESERVE to get all you can. Aren't the CEOs and upper execs, and heck the shareholders, doing the same? But it's wrong when a worker wants all that they can reasonably get based on the market and competition.

    Imo, the 💰 isn’t the issue, it’s the years. Klay secured $60M+ during the 2 years he was out w/ injuries. Then got $40M+ this past season. Being a Warrior fan, n having seen this dynasty get built from the beginning, I would hate to c him go. Hope a deal gets done sooner rather than later. It is a business at the end of the day tho. 😪

    I'm all for players getting every dime they deserve. However, Melo wanted both every dime he could get and a supporting cast. That doesn't work. His agent went to James Dolan to trade necessary assets to ensure he could enforce his Bird rights. Kudos, get your money. That didn't help the team, though, and was one of the reasons why Donnie Walsh left.
    Few scenarios and organizations can pay their talent top dollar and have a great supporting cast. Bob Meyers from Golden State was great at it. Once he saw where Golden State was going, he was out.
    That's the nature of the business. The players' union should negotiate a better salary/luxury tax.

    This is why Lebron James is who he is. He taught young black men in the NBA that he is not afraid of Owners! He left the Cavaliers they hated him. Folks turned on him! Look at him now with all the hate he is a Billionaire! Imagine listening to is Haters/Talking Heads. As for Klay he should never pocket watch. Steph took a pay cut he made $12m a year. He said he spoke to is Wife they agreed. (Yet Folks hate is Wife). He said he never pocket watch. Klay and Draymond made more than Steph. So what's the problem with Klay? How he forget? Good luck to him we shall see him next season. Going to be fun the only player who have done well after they left the Warriors is in New York!😂💙💙💙❤❤

    It ain’t ruthless at all. If the average person gets demoted they go from 100k to 50k or fired. NBA player goes from making 20 mil to 10-12mil. Your productivity dictates your salary. The dude Williams from Chicago just got 5yrs 90 mil and he’s a bum

    7:20 Yes, Carmelo it is a different pot of money. When your options are generational wealth vs. *MORE* generational wealth, it's a little hard for the common man to bring out the violins, when they're just fighting to be able make enough to rent a 1-bedroom apartment. Boo-hoo, you lost out on 20 million on your current contract, and your fallback is making 60x what the average American makes in their entire life. FOH
