Hey Phil, I’m a Yankees fan, but a baseball fan first. I am a huge Ortiz, Manny, & Youk fan as well. I cannot see how anyone who loves baseball can not appreciate and admire what those guys did for the Sox, but also for baseball. I was a big Verdugo fan as well so I’m pumped to have him bring his bling (one chain per game stupidity) and his vigor to NY. Today’s game is different than days of old baseball, players don’t give the home club preference, and clubs do very little to keep stars as well. There are exceptions like with Judge, but I am a Judge fan that would’ve followed wherever he went.
Indeed, thanks for commenting and explaining your rationale. I always respected Derek Jeter. And most definitely a factor in my flexible fandom that team (and player) loyalties are transient for the players (and management) too.
Listening to you talk about Bobby Miller, and looked over at a pile of 2023 Topps Chrome cards on my desk and the top card was a Bobby Miller auto /199. Probably would have forgotten I had it if not for this.
I am been buying Yainer Diaz Topps Chrome rookies cards. He is off a good start and his cards in Topps Chrome are autos only. With no base cards out there, I suspect his cards will do well, only if it continues. I always see Scotts videos on hyped players with so many different cards and which to buy. But, Diaz is easy.

I took a flyer on Christopher Morel in the off season. The Cubs are on the up and Morel, despite his age, is looking pretty good so far. Like Jung he has some power - 16 homers in his rookie season and 27 last year.
As a Yankees fan, I’m elated to have Soto play for them! Everyone in the lineup is making plays now and going into deep pitch counts each AB. It’s still early, but to sweep the Asterisks felt sooooo good. Btw, Soto didn’t have a hit yesterday and they still beat the DBacks.
i must give Jeff a big congrats on the sweep. i feel like I'll be saying the the same to Ty, lol. we all know the mets are a mess but itd be nice to win a game this month, lol
It baffles me how undervalued Mookie’s cards still are. His resume is already great and he has many more dominant years left in him. Already has 2 rings and is locked up on a team that’s built to win it all every year
That’s the biggest problem in all sports of the hobby when RC’s started off high where U either overpaid and lose money or some how choice not to buy to only to find out there cards will not ever be cheap.
So I too have many of my better cards in BGS 9.5. I admit I like the discounted Gem. I cross some. Keep some. So I have read BGS will regrade your card if you even just reholder. So if they change to a 10 grade for 9.5s, seems like they will they regrade them? They say they don’t know the slab has been or if the card has gotten damaged. So I think they will regrade those 9.5s before switching to 10s. That would be less than idea obviously.
Whatever people say about the actual game of baseball - it's dying, boring, blah blah - baseball prospecting has to be the most enjoyable pursuit of all the things one can do in the entire hobby.
@@SpitballinCards Indeed. But buying Bowman Chrome autos and tracking a player's progress through the minors with the chance that it pays off is a lot of fun. I get you, though. Lots of folks in the hobby who couldn't care less about a 1st Bowman auto of a kid playing in the complex league. Lots of angles as you pointed out.
As a Cubs fan it's brutal to see how bad Kris Bryant is now (and has been). Injuries and such suck. From ROY to League MVP on the first in 108 years World Series legendary Cubs team to Anthony Rendon'ish contract in what felt like no time. Sorry Scott.
Chris here - I love Albies. Just so overshadowed on his own team. Funny story - my wife gets very annoyed with his over aggressive swinging approach and usually when her anger reaches a boiling point, he starts homering.
This was a disappointing episode, Chris didn't mention anyone's legs, upper body or any other body part lol. And lets continue to mash Soto to make up for my other bad choices this offseason.
Unfortunately Mookie has not hard signed ANY card since 2014. He has an exclusive memorabilia deal with Fanatics and only signed in 2014. He has some sticker autos in 2015 and 2016 but those are few and far between and were stickers from his rookie season in 2014. It’s one of the reasons I love collecting Mookie!
A’s fan. He was the worst signing in our history. Didn’t perform and was a clubhouse cancer. Even got in several fist fights with teammates. Was surprised to see somebody likes him

Be wary of catchers! Almost as tough to predict as pitchers. But he does look good so far.
