I once bought a $45 hand-sewed bag from a street vendor at a farmer's market (she sewed them all herself). I could barely afford it, but it was the nicest item I had for years. It was high quality and I didn't care that it wasn't "designer" brand. It was unique and someone put love and quality attention into making it.

I just commented my thoughts after watching the video. I never bought bags from the person who is in the video, so can't comment on the quality or cost of the bags.
But in addition to what I said, good quality products can come from both big and small brands. Buying a product based solely on the brand is like judging a book by its cover. While big brands may have more resources to invest in r&d, marketing, and production, there are many smaller brands that are known for producing high-quality products as well.
Ultimately, the quality of a product will be based on its performance, durability, and other factors, rather than solely on the size or reputation of the brand.

It doesn’t matter how you look at it, going full time as an independent leatherworker is hard work. Running a busy website, packaging and shipping all take time out of your working day and cost money. You need to be a good craftsperson to make product that consistently sells for top dollar. More than that, you need to make stuff that people want - and if that is a close copy of a big brand bag then fine by me. An exact replica will cause problems but there are only ‘so many’ ways to make a bag.
I would much rather have a well made product that had your passion and skill in it than a brand name bag. Your pieces are less common, but much more special for it than a mass produced item. Don’t let anyone put you down. Your skill is obvious in all your videos. You are a true craftswoman.
I bought a brand name sewer, and the quality of the excrements that go in there was worth the investment.

This, in itself, is a marketing ploy. The stories are not genuine (however the lady featured may well be an artisan). If the bags are like this, they are beautiful but still very expensive. They may well be less expensive than the ‘brand’ bags and are far more likely to be better quality. But the sad thing is it’s difficult to trust items from China.
By the way, the only reason she is making "beautifull" bags is because she is copying the brand model. So why does she speak bad about thr brand?
Umm, not necessarily they would be far more likely to be better quality. You get what you pay to the manufacturer. If you pay more to get best material it would be good quality but if you pay less then not.
My country is the biggest manufacturers of garments right after China and I can get all the designer dresses and everything in much much low price which isn't even released in the shelves in much less of the half of what they would cost when they hang it on the shelves

All big brand names have bags made in China. Even the ones that say made in France or Italy are actually made in China. If you check the law, only 5-30% of the product needs to be made in a country to be legally allowed to put a label that claims it was made there. The same as Swiss watches. Most are entirely made in China and the only thing made in Switzerland is the glass. Practically everything you own, including your phone, has been made in China.

I always appreciated handcrafts. It's a hard thing to do especially in todays society. Maybe you should make your own logo and put it on each bag, that way people that wear them can show off that their bag is way more precious than those from big brands, because it was made with love from one human for another😊

Yes!!! I also make & design bags, and it costs SOOO much less than what they charge! I quite literally could make a Balenciaga “dupe” that is not only better quality than theirs, but it costs a FRACTION of what they’ll charge.

@BelAir it's just very scripted, all their videos on their channel going back a really long time is just always the same sob story. It seems kinda scripted to me, also they have a lot of bags on the website idk
I’ve looked at I think the bags are custom commissions that she lists so people can see her skills as well as a typical price point for what they might want.
@@Belair. If you check all the videos she leaves out the difficult construction part of the bag, only shows making holes, sewing once, then the full bag. She also does useless things like scoring the leather at the bottom when the bag is already made (you usually do it when the glue is setting). Check it for yourself and you'll see. We never see any of these women (there are many different ones doing these vids) actually constructing a bag from beginning to end. Watched some tutorials on leather work and it looks nothing like what they do.
