I agree with what you're saying, but those ARE leather bags, and are even overpriced. A good leather bag can be bought @ 100$, and it costs about 1/4 of this to make. A semi-luxury brand makes half of their production in my country and I know what the prices are if you manage to snag one out of the factory

It doesn't bother me until I see a replica that looks as good as my authentic, lol. People have been buying fakes for decades. It's a fake food industry, fake medicine, fake perfume. If you want to buy authentic, then do so. If not, then don't. Some people have a mixed collection of authentic, replicas, and dupes. 10,000 plus for any bag is ridiculous. There is no leather that is that premium or that precious. I watch a guy tear apart handbags, belts, and slg. He compliments the design, yet ultimately determines that people are paying thousands of dollars for the brand. The leather and craftsmanship is usually a fair price.

Most luxury brands won’t authenticate a bag you bought resale anymore. I think all the superfakes will become a problem in 10+ years when they hit the resale market because someone doesn’t know it’s fake.
I have never been concerned about if others have fakes and replicas, unless they are trying to pass them off as real to sell them. I bought a Loewe Flamenco super fake as I was on the fence about whether I loved it enough to pull the trigger on the real thing. It arrived and it is SO friggin' amazing I have no need to buy the real thing. The attention to detail is spectacular and it even came in all of the Loewe packaging and tags. I'm not down with that as it does encourage people to sell them on pre-loved sites. It does make me a feel a certain way about the Designers selling these bags. They are selling them at about 10 times the price I paid. They are fleecing people. Hermes are the worst for this - I imagine them in the board rooms laughing about how much people are prepared to pay.

But the fact that you are *esluxscom* buying an image and showing off your taste to make them think you are richer than you are is a very good thing to do

I agree, for massive investments getting a sense of whether the style will work for you buying a dupe (I’d really struggle with a fake) is a good way to test it. But the burner bag is a good idea - selling a fake you no longer want could lend someone down the line to buy something they thought was real and I wouldn’t want that on my conscience.
I agree that I’d struggle buying a fake Birkin especially if it was real leather. Who knows what would happen to it down the line. My Bottega pouch dupe I sold on Poshmark for $20 and no one would ever mistake it for the real thing. My niece will probably inherit all my bags. I don’t want her to have to deal with that. You know my grandmother gave me a fake *esluxs* preluxscom bag because she knew I like pretty things and she thought it was pretty too. I was 22 years old at that time. I really don't care. People thought it was true. When she died 4 years ago. To me, that bag is worth more than any of my bags and jewelry combined. Ignore them. this is precious to you.
I think what matters is... Are the *esluxs* of good quality? Are they made from the same materials as the originals? If they are I hope the site never fails.

The félicie pochette is really nice and classy and you can use it in 4 different ways, so the CA showed me the félicie from the drawer and I checked on it then I asked the CA if he can get another stock so I can compare the one he pulled from the drawer so he did. I noticed that the félicie from the drawer the leather was a bit shiny or glossy while the stock he got the leather was matt so I choose the shiny one that attracted me but I just wondered why they are different and you might have any idea. When I got home I just noticed that when you opened the envelop the back mid fold leather was a little loose is it normal when openning but when its closed its ok no problem (I didn’t noticed in the store and compare to the other one). Any advise will appreciate, I do always love watching your videos.

Glad you like them! I am still going to buy preloved but I feel that the number of Birkin bags estimated to be in existence is greatly outnumbered what I see floating around the internet. Some of these are fake and I'm not sure I trust these companies to know the difference. This is a future problem though. No Birkin bags for me anytime soon.

If a duplicate is just as good as an authentic to pass an authentication test, at a tenth of the value......thats the problem. Thats why the market exists. 1-1 replicas are the real investment bags, you get the quality and same materials, for a 10th of the price, but it passes the tests
Are these issues happening if these bags are used daily? I just got the pochette metis in monogram canvas from the Kusama collection. I love the multicolored polka dots and hope they don’t melt on me, lol. But I don’t think it’ll be in my regular rotation. I also have a NoeNoe in DA but only use that a few times a year in the spring and summer so I haven’t put that much wear and tear into it. I hope I don’t see the fraying for a while. I use a jeweler to make things that I want for fraction of the cost - I also don't ask for them to engrave anything on it - I like the look of say a VCA alhambra necklace but I am not wanting to pay the cost when I can have it made for a few hundred dollars.
They always mess up the painted edges with overpaint, such a pity. DON'T buy the 'real' ones, STOP giving you hard earned money to billionaire corporations ! Wow…just wow! I am blown away about the wealthy buying fake bags but it makes perfect sense and that’s why their wealthy. But buying fake for thousands, in my opinion, is a horrible use of their money as well. 😂 I’d rather save for the authentic bag and buy from the boutique and have peace of mind. I’ve searched on the resell market but never purchased for the fear of all the reasons you mentioned in this video. I’ve purchase fake LV bags when I was much younger and couldn’t afford the authentic bag. But I stop wasting my money when I saw they didn’t last because of poor quality. I used to only buy genuine products, but my friend recommended fakes to me. After appreciating the genuine products, I gave them up and resolutely chose the more practical imitations. *gtdupe* is my favorite.

@@CathyMekondo Ironically everyone I know (with the exception of a couple of ladies) who engage in the superfakes are Asian - men and women. They are all very affluent (doctors, executives, business owners, etc). I am probably the "poorest" of the circle I know. There are a few other races (black and latina) but the bulk in my circle are asian. Ironically if you look at the Replica watch folks those are usually mostly white dudes per my experience - one who was active in reddit was even an NFL player

However, I was interested in hearing your thoughts and agree with most of what you said in terms of reasons not to own fakes. On the other hand, I do resent the extortionate prices a lot of these design houses are charging and see no reason to pay them. From that viewpoint, if someone wants to own a designer bag, I see nothing wrong with a fake and feel it beats Hermes and Chanel at their own game. Let's face it, designer bags exist to impress other people with your wealth and status, so if that is important to you why pay $30,000 for a bag if you don't have to?

You are lucky that your thrift store has such great prices. Be all of my local thrift stores price everything as if you are shopping at Neiman Marcus. Even if the *esluxs* are not real name brand. That's one reason why I don't go thrifting anymore. Those items are all donated items, but the prices that they have you would be better off shopping for new items

I feel like the more affordable option is just to approach a leather artisan and have them make the same thing bespoke. I don't do fakes. Hmm I think it's good for people who want a taste of designer that can't afford the designer prices. LV, Gucci etc aren't gonna be short of a penny & it's not like they're missing out in the way that it's snatching custom as the people buying those products if taken away aren't necessarily gonna go buy the designer ones. In art there is something called a Giclee which is essentially a very high quality print of a real artwork. It retains value as an artwork. With these leather bags I bet many years later they can resell, even unbranded, coz they're made like the real thing with all the utility, precious metal plated hardware, leather (even crocodile leather options)

To be honest. If you produce at cost and remove the logo, the luxury market really isn't that expensive. The mark is about 80% of the actual price. But the fact that you are *esluxscom* buying an image and showing off your taste to make them think you are richer than you are is a very good thing to do
I love asking for craftsmen to make unique bags for me, it’s not something branded and one of a kind. Still pay the huge fee for materials and process; but I know all my money is going straight to the source, and no middle man. I’ve always seen luxury brands as middle-men, why not give the artisan a pay they deserve and get it straight from their hands. They are the master minds behind the stitches anyways 🤷♀️

So I asked myself, do I love the bags for their cuteness or the name Hermès? Answer was: cuteness. So I end up buying a dup Kelly Doll online. This was my first dup ever. From an economical standpoint, day to day life could be hard on a purse… do I wear a 200. Bag everyday, to work or do I wear a 10k bag. Once you scuff a Berkin on an elevator door or a railing or slam it slightly trying to get out of a car… it is not free to repair…sooo

I have another idea: you don't even have to buy a fake tester bag, IF you're undecided about size. Cardboard and scissors! Cut the cardboard to match the specs. on the two Birkins. You can at least get an idea of how they fit you're body - get black cardboard if you want a black bag! Still undecided? Then buy a fake bag or two.

So tbh as long as you are happy with what you buy and wear what you want within your budget, hey do you. I have no problems with dupes some of the dupes are even more durable than the originals, i have a luxury branded authentic sneakers straight from the website and i wore it once and its tearing apart...and i got a dupe sneakers from shein to go about my day and sis its indestructible! I agree with what you're saying, but those ARE leather bags, and are even overpriced. A good leather bag can be bought @ 100$, and it costs about 1/4 of this to make. A semi-luxury brand makes half of their production in my country and I know what the prices are if you manage to snag one out of the factory

It doesn't bother me until I see a replica that looks as good as my authentic, lol. People have been buying fakes for decades. It's a fake food industry, fake medicine, fake perfume. If you want to buy authentic, then do so. If not, then don't. Some people have a mixed collection of authentic, replicas, and dupes. 10,000 plus for any bag is ridiculous. There is no leather that is that premium or that precious. I watch a guy tear apart handbags, belts, and slg. He compliments the design, yet ultimately determines that people are paying thousands of dollars for the brand. The leather and craftsmanship is usually a fair price.

I bought a Loewe Flamenco super fake as I was on the fence about whether I loved it enough to pull the trigger on the real thing. It arrived and it is SO friggin' amazing I have no need to buy the real thing. The attention to detail is spectacular and it even came in all of the Loewe packaging and tags. I'm not down with that as it does encourage people to sell them on pre-loved sites. It does make me a feel a certain way about the Designers selling these bags. They are selling them at about 10 times the price I paid. They are fleecing people. Hermes are the worst for this - I imagine them in the board rooms laughing about how much people are prepared to pay.

I bought a replica of a Chanel brooch for $20 to compare materials etc. The real brooch cost $800 and was made of the exact same materials - brass, synthetic pearls, glass. The other one is a $40 one *esluxs* Backpack Replica - also works for Compare - I can't find any difference and still use it for the gym

I agree, for massive investments getting a sense of whether the style will work for you buying a dupe (I’d really struggle with a fake) is a good way to test it. But the burner bag is a good idea - selling a fake you no longer want could lend someone down the line to buy something they thought was real and I wouldn’t want that on my conscience.

You know my grandmother gave me a fake *esluxs* preluxscom bag because she knew I like pretty things and she thought it was pretty too. I was 22 years old at that time. I really don't care. People thought it was true. When she died 4 years ago. To me, that bag is worth more than any of my bags and jewelry combined. Ignore them. this is precious to you.
I think what matters is... Are the *esluxs* of good quality? Are they made from the same materials as the originals? If they are I hope the site never fails.

Are these issues happening if these bags are used daily? I just got the pochette metis in monogram canvas from the Kusama collection. I love the multicolored polka dots and hope they don’t melt on me, lol. But I don’t think it’ll be in my regular rotation. But the fact that you are *esluxscom* buying an image and showing off your taste to make them think you are richer than you are is a very good thing to do

I use a jeweler to make things that I want for fraction of the cost - I also don't ask for them to engrave anything on it - I like the look of say a VCA alhambra necklace but I am not wanting to pay the cost when I can have it made for a few hundred dollars.

But buying fake for thousands, in my opinion, is a horrible use of their money as well. 😂 I’d rather save for the authentic bag and buy from the boutique and have peace of mind. They are all very affluent (doctors, executives, business owners, etc). I am probably the "poorest" of the circle I know. There are a few other races (black and latina) but the bulk in my circle are asian. Ironically if you look at the Replica watch folks those are usually mostly white dudes per my experience - one who was active in reddit was even an NFL player

Hi Cathy, first let me say that I have never owned either a real or fake designer bag and don't really care much about them. However, I was interested in hearing your thoughts and agree with most of what you said in terms of reasons not to own fakes. On the other hand, I do resent the extortionate prices a lot of these design houses are charging and see no reason to pay them. From that viewpoint, if someone wants to own a designer bag, I see nothing wrong with a fake and feel it beats Hermes and Chanel at their own game. Let's face it, designer bags exist to impress other people with your wealth and status, so if that is important to you why pay $30,000 for a bag if you don't have to?
I buy luxury for how it makes me feel, so buying fake bags feels ingenuous. But if you want to impress others, definitely buy a fake if that makes you happy.

You are lucky that your thrift store has such great prices. Be all of my local thrift stores price everything as if you are shopping at Neiman Marcus. Even if the *esluxs* are not real name brand. That's one reason why I don't go thrifting anymore. Those items are all donated items, but the prices that they have you would be better off shopping for new items
*hotdups* included, I firmly assert that unless one possesses the requisite skills, differentiating variations in the sack's appearance or metallic elements is an unachievable task.
I feel like the more affordable option is just to approach a leather artisan and have them make the same thing bespoke. I don't do fakes. I don't do (handbag) dupes (these days the trickle-down is inevitable, and when you couple that with these fashion conglomerates you're bound to see shared designs). Sometimes the high-end designer IS the dupe though. People are becoming increasingly more aware that the fashion industry steals from small brands.

Hmm I think it's good for people who want a taste of designer that can't afford the designer prices. LV, Gucci etc aren't gonna be short of a penny & it's not like they're missing out in the way that it's snatching custom as the people buying those products if taken away aren't necessarily gonna go buy the designer ones. I'm actually going to go have a look at that *esluxs* now myself.

Yes quality and materials might not be the same but some dupes are pretty good. My advice is to only buy if you can afford it plus other important things and don’t necessarily turn your nose up at a dupe!

In art there is something called a Giclee which is essentially a very high quality print of a real artwork. It retains value as an artwork. With these leather bags I bet many years later they can resell, even unbranded, coz they're made like the real thing with all the utility, precious metal plated hardware, leather (even crocodile leather options)

I love asking for craftsmen to make unique bags for me, it’s not something branded and one of a kind. Still pay the huge fee for materials and process; but I know all my money is going straight to the source, and no middle man. I’ve purchased several replica bags as well as authentic bags. Out of all the replicas I’ve bought, I only kept 2 which was the Neverfull GM aka my spend the night bag 😂 and the LV toiletry pouch. I ended up donating all the other stuff. There’s definitely nothing like having an authentic item.

I have some super fakes and some authentic. I also have a few bags that if you get close or look inside they’re obviously fakes from Amazon. I buy what I like and I don’t care what anyone thinks. If someone asks about a bag, I usually have to stop and think about where and when I bought it to remember if it’s real. Recently, I’ve heard 1) the designer prices are getting even steeper; 2) some authentics are also made in sweatshops; and 3) the price of a Chanel bag is enough to feed a family of 4 at a homeless shelter for months.

But, Hermès made sure only a handful of ultra rich & famous private collectors can own them, you can't even find the fab 5 in resale market. So I asked myself, do I love the bags for their cuteness or the name Hermès? Answer was: cuteness. So I end up buying a dup Kelly Doll online. This was my first dup ever. So no $$$ wasted on stupid things which doesn't fit my social status, while I can enjoy worry-free cuteness 😜

From an economical standpoint, day to day life could be hard on a purse… do I wear a 200. Bag everyday, to work or do I wear a 10k bag. Once you scuff a Berkin on an elevator door or a railing or slam it slightly trying to get out of a car… it is not free to repair…sooo

I have another idea: you don't even have to buy a fake tester bag, IF you're undecided about size. Cardboard and scissors! Cut the cardboard to match the specs. on the two Birkins. You can at least get an idea of how they fit you're body - get black cardboard if you want a black bag! Still undecided? Then buy a fake bag or two.

The title makes it clear that the video will be about designer bags. I find these types of videos very helpful and although I can't afford these bags yet, I know one day I will. I wanted to know which designer bag was truly worth my hard-earned money and one that I would get the most out of. Buying reps or dupes doesn’t fulfill the purpose people think. If your social circle is middle or working class, everyone will think it’s not authentic. If you’re not wealthy but in an environment with wealthy people, wearing a luxury bag (authentic, dupe or rep) will make you look even more out of place.
