I’m sorry about the random janks that’s been happening in recent videos. I’ve been working with a new editor and he’s been trying to get the hang of things. We’ll be sure to make future ones jank free in the meantime
I absolutely agree. I want my old Viktor back. This is one of Riot's WORST lore and visual updates. His new lore doesn't understand him as an anti-hero and the visuals ruined ALL of his skins.
people actively forget they were also the reason why Riot made Arcane canon. More people asked for that in 2021 than people complaining about Viktor now
I didn’t ask for it, I think arcane is objectively cool. I just don’t give a fuck about the characters, the only one I liked was Viktor and they made him a wizard.
They kinda took the “tech” out of “hextech”. He was one of the few mages, alongside Orianna, who relied on technology rather than pure magic, with a kit full of variable gadgets and augments, giving his abilities just enough versatility and making his seemingly incoherent kit rather fun to master. And I mean, as a former Starcraft2 player, Colossus lasering enemies and waves with a robot arm is just kinda cool.
I feel like the old Viktor design and motivations could've worked for the new arcane continuity, like he realizes the arcane is too powerful for humans to control but because he now has the hexcore stuck in him he builds a new metal body to contain its power and prevent another apocalypse, convincing himself that his weak flesh is what allowed him to be corrupted and that metal is the perfect conduit for the arcane.
It sure would be embarrassing if league already had a champion that was a herald of a cosmic power beyond his understanding that warped his appearance, that could summon minions to do his dirty work, had such a mastery of magic that they could impart silence and could lock down an enemy as he melds minds with them. Then they'd get part way through reworking Viktor and realize they actually just made a gray version of an existing champion. Good thing there's no existing character in League of Legends that does all that right?
@@oetic5016 saying that this "was bound to happen" when Riot has some of the most creative ppl working on this game? and we already have champs that r similar with yasuo & yone (and they work bc of totally different reasons anyway), we dont need another one
Tbh viktor in arcane had his dolls(robot things) that moved in synergy with each other like one mind. Viktor must have had god level psychological prowess to control them while doing everything else. The viktor in league is just viktor if he somehow cured himself and still worked with jayce because other than the death ray absolutely nothing else in his kit matches what he did in the series. Warwicks design while different still matched his fantasy of being a feral killing machine that just won’t die no matter what you hit him with.
Warwick wasnt done evolving so what we got was vanderwick and then viktorwick, neither of which adhere to his fantasy in the game. Im not complaining about warwicks visuals as i think how warwick was handled was probably the best course of action for the sake of the ecosystem of the show, but lets not sit here and pretend warwick mains are happy. Theyre not
I was about to say that. In the serie, Viktor can cure shimmer, create bluetooth, fly, read minds, create robots, incapacitate about everyone and partially survive a bomb that killed Heimerdinger in a second. He had no shield spell, gravity trap, any ability to generate a growing storm and doesn't rely on constantly upgrading himself because he's already space jesus. The two things that connect both version is the name and the laser (which is barely used in the show and isn't even usefull or even remotely associated in a meaningfull way to space jesus). Such a travesty 😢
What’s messed up about this visual rework is that the reason why Arcane Viktor came to be is because the Arcane writers felt cybernetics in piltover and zaun were too common for the story and then decided to make him corrupted by the supernatural, in which he’s ironically more common cause you could name 5 or more champions that are also corrupted by the supernatural. They took piltover and zaun in mind but not runeterra as a whole.
Well saying it like ‘corrupted by the supernatural’ is being very uncharitable. The arcane is 100% a half machine half magic sort of thing. The show 100% has a unique take and great character in victor. I think it looks great but it’s transition to league is a bit funky to say the least
@@Uwujarvis to say hexcore didn't influence him would be crazy tho Bro didn't actually do anything to help zaunites before that point and just got shown magical footprints to make a commune
@@Uwujarvis we could have seen him inventing anything that makes it easier to live in zaun besides the hex claw that has no reason to exist in his current design
- Man disillusioned by humanity hears the call of the supernatural which alters his body and convinces him to use its powers to become the HERALD of humanity's salvation. - Floats around, summons a swarm to do his bidding, beam of light suppress the willing and non-believers to join Close enough Welcome Malzahar VGU
It is actually supposed to be cannon although that means a complete change in the base lore. Many zaunites in the lore now have no lore that makes sense. blitzcrank, Warwick, twitch, and others have had their entire backstory rewritten by arcane with zero care to the characters affected by it.
the worst part is that he doesn't even resembles Arcane Viktor, he's like a goofy version of that emotionless god-like figure. The legendary skin is even WORSE! why is he shirtless???? why he looks like a starving korean idol? he is supposed to be an Arcane savior like we saw in S2, but instead he's just an imitation, he does not have the same personality as Arcane Viktor, does not have the characteristics that made OG viktor special, and definitely does not seems as something that comes from League world building
Couldn't care less about the scrawny looks. It's losing the machine thematic that feels VERY bad. And the one throwaway line in the show where the new definetely-not-machine Viktor tries to pretend to still be machine-related is outright insulting.
Imo viktors story in Arcane works way better than him just being a machine. It's a more space odyssey take on "evolution", rather than just machine body augmentation we have on many champs like camille.
@conniefan123 "rather than just machine body augmentation we have on many champs"; such as the one you mentioned, old Viktor, and Orianna, and Urgot. Truly many many champs
@@Lin_Nascimento yeah, augmentation, especially hextech, has already been done many times. The new concept really fleshes out "Glorious Evolution" more and is separated from other augmentation champs, giving viktor a much more unique identity
@conniefan123 Awful argument. "Works in arcane" followed to "we have many like camille"; Yeah it works in Arcane cuz we DONT have a gazillion mages, or worse, a straight up duplicate concept in Malzahar IN ARCANE. And then the immidiate example after saying "works IN Arcane" is using a champion that didnt even appear on the show.
This is a problem that is born from making every league IP canon moving forward. I think the pushback also come from how arcane ending is "open ended" in such a way that its just hard to get into new viktor
Erasing Cyberpunk Viktor when the Cyberpunk theme and the writing of going full " chrome no ganic" is so strong in modern media after edgerunners success changing him to generic alien mage creature is so lame
I understand people not liking it to be honest. I mean, if Riot decided to change Warwick to his Arcane version I'd be furious. I thought that Arcane should be adapting characters from the game, not the other way around. And yeah, in Arcane I did like this Viktor design. I didn't actually want it in the game because it deviates way too much from what Vijktor is in game. As I have said before, I would have liked a middle ground for his VGU. Keep the basics of the Arcane design but adding more machine parts to make him more similar to his old self.
it was addapting charactes from then game in season 1, in season 2 they were given free rein to do what ever they want and since Riot decided arcane is cannon they decided to Viktor rework the way they did
The fact is that WW getting changed wouldn't have been that bad. After all, just his face would've changed to a more humane one, which makes sense to in game WW too. But Viktor is straight up another character. It has nothing to do with in game one.
@@skyper8934Well sure, it'd be a small change if they turned him into pre-Viktor perfection WW, but knowing Riot they very well could've made WW his post-Viktorification self. Which definitely would've rattled many
@@skyper8934 Nah as a Warwick main, one of the reason why I like Warwick is because he's a wolf man. I hate the human face and lack of tail on his Arcane design, it makes him look more like an ape man and just looks kinda ugly and not as cool or interesting to me. His Arcane design doing the joke animation where he acts like a dog would also look super weird.
I think the biggest issue I have with their new direction for him is the fact that its not new at all - a man who has used machinery and innovation to bring himself on par with the abilities of a mage was unique in the league cast, while the blue mage with magical powers we have now is not only a power fantasy they have explored countless times now before but it also muddies a lot of established aesthetics and concepts just for the sake of it. i personally have gripes with season 2 but i think the issues with the viktor vgu exist entirely outside of the shows plot. his gameplay doesnt reflect his new lore at all and ultimately they made him less unique despite their intent
This is why, when they announced that "an arcane champion is going to receive a full visual rework", i was SO certain that it was gonna be Singed. Old viktor and Arcane viktor are oh-so different, straight-up retconning him feels like a waste when good ol' machine viktor was already quite popular. It doesn't make sense to rework a champion that works, does it? And while yes a small visual touch-up would've been great, he's quite low on the visual rework priority list, i feel like. Singed in League is one of the most visually outdated champions on the rift, down there with Gragas's 5 whole polygons. I can understand that they didn't want to rework him only visually, as yeah maybe Arcane singed doesn't fit at all with current Singed's gameplay; But if that wasn't an option either, why make a rework at all? Arcane Viktor should've been just a skin, just like all the other arcane skins. I genuinely don't understand what's going on at Riot recently, they're just doing fuckups over fuckups over fuckups on the skins side of things.
I don't like when people says, new viktor model is better than old viktor model... like?? no shit one is from 2011 the other 2024 of course the new one is better. You should compare old viktor's model to other old champion which his model is surprisingly good.
@@trimex7234most people at least acknowledge and think he's cool, noone play him because his kit is outdate ,his w and r is trash 90% of the game ,His passive is awful for a weak earrly champ , he have been ass for like 5 years because riot refuse to do anything with him and now they buff him because arcane
Another thing that no ones talk about, is that in Arcane Viktor obsession with a "Glorious Evolution" came from nowhere after he became space jesus, you could see how he wanted to "replace" his body parts in the final of season 1, but season 2 came out of nowhere and this wasn't a plot point until it was, it was like the writers remembered he IS a champion and "Glorious Evolution" was something already and they needed to put it there
I feel similar like they do show a transition in mindset, but I need more, I want to feel the glorious evolution. In Naruto when Madara wants to create the Infinite Tsukuyomi and put everyone in a dream state where all there wishes can be realised in a world that doesn't hurt each other we go through his entire life story constant death and watch it change his character over time. Viktor came to the realisation fast which is expected of an intellectual character like him but he puts up no fight or test to his hypothesis (like a scientist should) to his idea before going about changing the world, we should have received more validation and testing from Viktor before he went about changing the world. As an engineer I was disappointed by his character we are taught we need 3 things calculations, testing and simulation to increase our chances of a better outcome we don't see any of this from arcane Viktor and if he does it it's skimed over in short time frames, like when viktor says "I calculated everything" "I visited every time line" yeah show it to us give us a montage of Viktor working to try grasp at his reality.
Season 2 did a lot of shit that felt like just tickboxes of things they were contractually obligated to include. The gay sex scene was the most obvious one.
Okay I'll spell it out to you since media literacy is difficult Viktor wants to fix his own body but also applies that same philosophy to the world at large - if his imperfections can be overcome by science, why can't all imperfections be erradicated? When he merges with the hexcore he first tries to do so by saving those who suffer, building a community of those who share his ideology, with the goal of peacefully showing everyone the merits of abandoning violent division for a better world. But when Jayce attacks him he realizes humanity's dual nature, where all the urges that make humanity great, unique, beautiful are the same traits that make humanity self-destructive. So he gives up on humanity, seeing the only path to his goal as an erasure of it, replacing it with his vision of perfection. Of course, he sees the error of his ways in this end - erasing humanity and replacing it with perfection would basically mean death, as our imperfections, our humanity, is what makes life worth living.
The problem with it is that they threw a fckng horrible design, yeah sure it looks good in Arcane, but deep inside we are expecting something more, like an actual glorious evolution. But riot did do it, when they hinted the icon everybody hated it, and yet they still continued to do it. It's a FCKNG downgrade, the old designs wasn't even a bad design, it's just old and needs a few tweaking, but Riot ruined it.
10:21 - random Shaco jumpscare To be fair though: I don't like the new design. They should've either fully commit to the Arcane version and start from scratch completely changing his playstyle or at least went with a different model - I really think the new one looks worse than the old one. We went from machine to mediocre.
They rly should have fully committed. Keeping his old kit while changing the looks to Arcane makes no sense, as he literally has not used most of his abilities in Arcane, or only did so once. Arcane Viktor is so much more known for his robots, his celestial viewpoint and mind controlling his followers. This has none of those aspects, so it feels a bit weird to me
He just doesn't truly fit in Piltover/Zaun as its supposed to be a place where tech / chem is prevalent even if that tech touches on magic he just became.... a mage
@@ggwp638BC technically, they would be classified as an "artificer," someone who wields magic through a medium or technology. A mage is someone with natural-born magic (such as Sylas, LeBlanc, Lux, etc.).
My biggest problem is that this design isn't even accurate to the show. I would miss old Viktor, I would sure do, but I don't dislike the Arcane version. In fact I like how otherworldly and uncanny it feels. Yet none of that is transfered to the game. Even in the show and the concept art he was way more mechanical, now he looks like a purple alien.
They should've just made arcane viktor a new champ with new tool sets and kept the old viktor. Maybe change the name to avoid confusion, like the machine herald is renamed to victor.
Old Viktor when his upgrade E used to be instant, was my first actually main champion. The idea of a scientist turn into badass machine is so cool, not an emo dude try to become God savior
I think the original Viktor could have a place even in riot’s new canon with the alternate timeline considerations. Just like alternate Ekko and Jinx/Powder, original Viktor could fit in as his cyborg inventor self, he just needed a nod toward that other possibility of himself during that segment of the show.
Honestly my opinion is that the "Arcane" he uses should sorta... feel more techy. Like it looks like voidy magicy biomancy. If it looked a lot more like Metal and Tech, with a fusion of machine and flesh motif everything would fit into place nicely. Heck all they needed was to put like a scene or two showing that when Vik in the show does his whole healing thing, his cultists become more hextechy... with like metal parts rather than just the whole Fingerprints on the head but otherwise fully normal look... fuck, they could even keep that fingerprints where Vik first laid hands upon them thing because that's really good as a detail. They wouldn't even have to change anything about the story either, just adapt the look of the Arcane to be less Biovoid Virus Flesh-looking and more "Tech and Flesh Merging" looking.
They do have metallic parts to them though? Of course it's heavily stylized but just looking at someone like Huck you can tell that the parts that were damaged got replaced by metal. And Viktor's body does show that the Arcane is kind of flesh-looking "tech" since it is metal made to resemble flesh and with energy pulsing underneath.
@@trimex7234 It's really not looking like metal, tbh. It's more like chitin to me, which further pushes Arcane Viktor away from the original character fantasy of a cyborg in a magic-centric world.
I know you've put a janky editing disclaimer in the video, but that random Shaco when you were talking about erasure of a character from the lore was surprisingly spot on
I want to see 2 things 1 what the changes were gonna be to viktor and why the viktor mains were against them apart from the fact that they were different from the original. Looking at how they changed the name of both chaos storm and death ray to arcane storm and hextech ray, those two abilities were gonna be fairly similar to the original, but his q and w might have changed 2 bring back giving champs original skins, it is the one thing any champ that has had a big change to them should have. Aatrox is still very similar in design to his previous, but skarn, viktor, galio, fiddlesticks should all get skins that are reminiscent of their old designs
@@leocheung8860 Cuz then they had a stream of reworks that didnt change the OG design that much, and said "oh traditionals are not needed" and the procceed to do a 180 to characters that completely changed their base designs
It's fun that you say that because on the Viktor subreddit I saw some people that said they played him because they had a limp like Viktor and they don't like him anymore because he doesn't. The duality of men
I liked when viktor was the machine herald and not the herald of the arcane the new title sounds so generic for a mage and thats how he feels to me now just another mage but worse he doesnt look like a robot he looks like an atomic heart cosplayer
He is the only male mage we have that is solely a mage. Ryze doesnt even look human, and Swain is a general. We have Lux, Syndra, Liss, Morg so many female mages
Human mage turns a powerful god of arcane : Xerath Mage that uses runes as power : Ryze Herald of outside force with minions : Malzahar Inventor uses tech to be at par with mage : (deleted)
I always find it so interesting that Jayce v Viktor in both lore and gameplay are so interesting. Jayce functions best when he's ahead of you and anywhere between respectable poke or paper thin eq machine when not whereas one has to always respect Viktor's W, E and Ult in a teamfight regardless because he thrives in chaos. Jayce in lore is about perfecting and regular advance when Viktor is about removing humanity to, ironically, become better at dealing with imperfections (the old color story with the boy visiting his house)
I think it MIGHT be giving Riot a little too much credit in purposely creating his kit feeling seperate from each other and making him look hodge podge. He is an OLD champ and the concept ia basic scientist with gadgets. That being said, I definitely think his kit is fun and really is the most reactive diverse kit of any mage in the class because it is so open. I dont mind the look of new Viktor but I do agree the Arcane Herald is not the Machine Herald, despite what they may want to sell it as.
The problem with Riot’s attempts at revamping how the lore is told, is that by abandoning short stories for vastly higher quality productions with everyone’s attention, they can’t retcon this. If Viktor became the arcane herald in a short story I guarantee you it’d be reverted in a week. But since Arcane is a multimillion dollar series they can’t edit anything that doesn’t work well. Imagine if Seraphine talking to her soul powered Alexa, Naafiri’s dagger being split into pieces, or literally all of sentinels of light was in an arcane style show. They can’t sweep that under the rug, they can’t make quick edits, that becomes the new lore because they can’t simply retract the millions spent to make it happen.
Words my man! Heavy investments means heavy consequence. Now, even viktor is not existent in the canon lore because he is disintegrated and we also don't get machine herald.
@@justinjakeashton TLDR ; darkin weapons are indestructible not even celestial can destroy it, but naafiri dagger was broken... by a pack of dogs. They changed it to symbolicly broken rather than physically.
@@TopFlightSecurityGuard Sure wrong word but you understand what I mean. just look at the champions in the past that has gotten multiple reworks after the first one. If you look from a gameplay perspective this is an amazing update, base skin Viktor feels much smoother than the old one, and the changes are just pure buffs.
@@notieming well no I don’t understand what you mean when you don’t say the correct word to describe what you mean. Crazy how the bar was so low, yet riot still found a way to dig under it to create something that would please bootlickers.
having arcane overwrite canon lore was the big mistake all in all. it would have been a perfect series if it just didn't have to subtract from what the game had already established. very sad. riot will fix in the next universe retcon though
Its pretty funny how some years ago when we got the Ezreal VGU they completely changed the way his W worked because his kit worked perfectly, just the W felt out of place for a spell caster adc. Now with Viktor, a kit that its strong but its not coherent, just 4 strong abilities put there, they decide that the kit doesnt need anything more, just made the ult grow bigger and had a reset mechanic and called it a day. Viktor ia going to be like its always have been, either the meta pick that its extremely opressive, or the forgotten control mage behind Syndra and Orianna
It feels was done because riot knew people will play him or buy his new skin due to arcane popularity and not because the fans asked for the change to happen.
He looks absolutely terrible... I liked the cyborg look, now he's a tween wimp like Hwei. I love Hwei so I play Hwei, but if I want to play Viktor it's because I want to play the MACHINE herald.
@@deviljin_x all he had was a robotic arm and a mask though, not much cyborg stuff to him. I understand not liking his new look/thematic but I feel like people praise his old design too much
It's the ruined king effect all over again. We wanted a King of Ruin, we got a twink that ruined the king. We wanted a machine herald, we got a machined twink that heralds only a dreadful future for people who enjoy non-generic character designs.
A "king of ruin" is already in the game as mordekaiser. Any kind of lunch king design already has to compete with morde and his full-armored kingly design. Viego's design in league is "pretty" because he's a romantic, his goals are entirely related to his love for Isolde.
@@UltraLG2444 Mordekaiser is the king of the death, Viego is an egoistic, narcistic and heartbroken king, it makes sense that he looks somewhat young and attractive
huge lore viktor-fan, my favourite character of all time in a deeply autistic way (lol). It felt really good watching this video and hearing someone thoroughly break down what makes him work, not just from gameplay and lore as two standalones but as a related unit that informs each other. maybe cried a little. heartwarming(?). great video
It all stems from the writing team getting fired with the exception of the three least talented staff. Season 2 was a series of poorly connected fanfictions full of inconsistencies and plot holes along with absolutely ugly redesigns. That's something we can just live with, but having it fuck with pre-existing characters like real Viktor isn't ok. People bought skins for HIM, not this gaunt new twink, but now if they don't like the new one that money is gone.
i came back to this game yesterday. i loaded in one ARAM game and did not check the loading screen. i thought the Viktor was Azir lol they look exactly the same now
This rework continues Riot's effort to sand off all rough edges and make everything clean, lean and pretty and I hate it. Even when they gave us the empress of the Void, the land of monsters and nightmares, they just had to give her a hot girl head.
I don't know what to tell you if you think his Arcane design is clean and pretty lol. If anything it's just the fault of the game developers for not translating his design well to the game.
She is just a weird shapeshifting ray that is doing a bad job at corrupting reality because she is developing a twisted attachement, this blight had already started a long while back with Kai'sa.
For me, its his voice. The Arcane Viktor has a glorious combo of a subtle slavic accent and slightly aetherial/transcendental voice effect every so often. The in game one first isn't even the same VA, but the echo-y roboticised effects make him difficult to even understand.
This update actually killed any interest I had to play Viktor and Malz. This is the same thing that happened with Yorick when Akshan was made. Rather than work with what was already interesting, they made a new character to do what an old one already did. Such a shame, because I really like old Viktor, but with the new replacing Malz, I just don't see a reason to pick both of them sonce Riot doesn't care anymore about either of them.
I loved Viktor and would play him occasionally. I will not be playing him anymore because they murdered my boy. I think I'll stop playing altogether if they change jinx completely to be her arcane version. I like arcane, but arcane jinx ≠ lol jinx.
honestly, a traditional skin like trundle and karma got, that maintained the original proportions/style of the character would have been the best option with this VGU. Either that or just give viktor a couple of arcane themed skins, and give him a VGU of his base design. But this all stems from them making arcane ad the animated shows canon, riot has a long history of being horrible with canon, they should have just kep them separated
They could just add Arcane Viktor as alternate universe anomaly and being new champ. It would work because of arcane and their interactions would be interesting.
If you asked 10 Arcane watchers what abilities Viktor would have in game I think the only thing people might guess would be his E. Compare that to Vi, Jinx, Cait or Ekko who all pretty much show you what their champs can do and you see the difference.
I feel like sticking closer to old Viktor's lore and just polishing it up like it felt like they were doing with all the champions in season 1 could've worked really well for Arcane's story instead of just making him space Jesus. I hated the apocalyptic threat aspect of the arcane and it being pretty much the void 2.0. It felt like they really wanted epic Marvel style stuff, but they just did not have the time for that kind of story. I think the character and class struggle focus was what made Arcane season 1 good and it would've been perfectly fine to scale things back and not have a big, flashy, apocalyptic threat. They also had concept art in the Arcane art book where arcane Jesus Viktor is at least more robotic and armored like old Viktor, looking like a mix between the two. Idk why they didn't just do that instead of making him some weird alien guy with abs and a split face. I think the thing I hate most about the new design is the mask, it just looks like he has a ridiculously wide nose and mouth. Imo it looks dumb and ugly on an otherwise good design (if it wasn't supposed to be Viktor). Also I hate that now any champ could be changed to something almost completely different from their original concept just because a show writer thinks they're too tropey, problematic, or inferior compared to his ideas.
Don't worry, this is not the worst take. This is the best take. When I saw the changes I felt like I really didn't like them, but I couldn't put my finger on why. You explained my own thoughts to me perfectly. I hate that riot is mindlessly redconing all of their amazing lore just because "ooga booga arcane = money". Through all thses years I got so invested into it. Ahhh I remember going down the rabbit hole and watching Necrit videos until 3 in the morning. I loved those champions. I loved their stories. I just don't want to lose all of that, man 😥
Just fully rework him or don't change a thing. Viktor now lost his identity, he's neither old Viktor or Arcane Viktor so who is this one for? I personally would love if they fully reworked him and said bye bye to old, outdated, vague lore Viktor and push hard on their plan for one big, cohesive narrative and lore.
While i do agree that they should go all in if they decide to rework, i just have to ask: Why do you feel the need to completely delete a champion from the game?
Funny enough Arcane Victor is still very machine-like, it’s just that his exterior still looks vaguely organic. Was a mistake, imo. Also GIVE HIM BOOTS!!!!
Viktor was never a buff or super manly chad, he was a weak guy who upgraded himself for the glorious evolution, but his model in game just looks like a woman
As a casual Victor enjoyer, the base model is alright, even if stuck between old Victor abilities and new lore. The skins however are just uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. The creator, prototype and deathsworn are literally downgrades
Riot making arcane canon has done immeasurable and irreversible damage to league of legends as a game and for very little gain IMO. The stigma around LoL is so strong and widespread that most people who would have been drawn in by arcane simply say "no lmao". They've changed so many character's lore to try and appeal to a wider audience but arcane is not the way to get more (long term) players.
Are you guys familiar with HR Giger? I'm sure most are Yeah that's how new Viktors design could have worked A biomechanical amalgamation that looks absolutely terrifying It combines both what we want and what rito wanted Shame we got a blue wizard instead
I liked to imagine that his abilities are intentionally "mismatched" every ability has a distinc purpose that dont depend on each other but function very well individually, while still harmonizing. Hes a champion that is very dependant on repositioning and he can do that well enough cause his r follows enemies and his e can be casted simultaneously with his q or w
I hate how riot redacts characters out of existence, like old aatrox and viktor may as well not have existed for the last few years. Would be great if there was a classic server so we can play as these old iteration's again.
I think I would rather have a full kit and vgu rework if they want to do it so badly. The end result seemed like rushed and not much tought put into it.
viktors arc is why arcane cant be higher than a 6 outta 10 for me. the whole thing makes no sense (the timeline thing) on so many levels theres just too many plotholes, he looks ugly and like u said has nothing to do with the viktor we knew and were excited to see come to life. it truly showed how they fumbled by cutting the show 3 seasons short...
The problem for me is not even in his bodytype, they could keep it, just let him be mechanical. He's just too magical now and not a steampunk genius he was before.
i view new viktor as a dnd artificer. using magic to bend metal to your will rather than just strictly using machines. part of me likes this more because i think urgot kinda fills the cyborg fantasy a bit better.
Yeah in the game we have Urgont, Orianna and Camille who already are cyborgs and they actually pull off the aesthetic better than old Viktor. This new Viktor has more of a biomechanical design with his body being made of metal made to look like flesh
I honestly thought that the rework would've been for his passive; absolutely SHOCKED that they left his passive unchanged. I understand leaving all his basic abilities alone, despite the lack of synergy between them, since they're very practical as you say. But his passive has been reworked twice and each time he loses a little bit of identity with it. It's currently a weird sidegrade to syndra's passive. Would've loved to see a reiteration on the concept of the hexcore given it's retcon in Arcane
I dont dislike his new design, I really dont. And if you don't like it that's fair, it's preferences. What I HATE and I mean HATE, is that they decided to port his arcane design to league BUT MAKE THE OTHER ONES INTO SKINS INSTEAD like riot wtf????? Arcane jinx, vi, etc. should be their base models now but naaah let's make skins that barely change them instead gameplay wise, and I mean that simply isn't Viktor from arcane. He is 100% unable to do a SINGLE thing he can do in game. I would have honnestly prefered they just changed the name of Viktor in the serie, and release a new character with new abilities that actually fit what he does in the show. Finally, I think Arcane being the new cannon is a good thing for the long run, as it allows them to not only make the lore more mainstream, but also to actually fix the shit that doesn't make sense. For now some champs don't "exist" in arcane, but they will come with time, do not worry
Agree with most of these points, but a little confused about the viktor arcane vs viktor ingame point. He uses his W, E, and ult in the show as well as obviously his passive (glorious evolution). Idk if he used Q tho
What makes me hate thid community is the fact that they dont like anything even if its a good change, Old Viktor was a hell of a mess, you dont have to agree with me but he sure was a mess and i too was waiting for ASU for the other characters, Caitlyn doesnt even look like her arcane self anymore

I absolutely agree. I want my old Viktor back. This is one of Riot's WORST lore and visual updates. His new lore doesn't understand him as an anti-hero and the visuals ruined ALL of his skins.
We are here because of the great content. Do not worry
Riot can't decide if they want him to be a wizard or a robot. So now you have a wizard who has robot abilities.
Basically this
That's exactly what hextech is.
That's exactly what hextech is.
No, hextech is robot with wizard abilities, not the other way
Every other Hextech device seems to just use magic as fuel, neither Caitlyn's sniper shoots lasers nor Vi's gauntlets. What's with the Q and W
You want arcane to be cannon.
*the monkeys paw curls*
Underrated comment
people actively forget they were also the reason why Riot made Arcane canon. More people asked for that in 2021 than people complaining about Viktor now
I didn’t ask for it, I think arcane is objectively cool. I just don’t give a fuck about the characters, the only one I liked was Viktor and they made him a wizard.
No i don't
I am so glad it is not cannon
That is what a lot of people were thinking. But sadly Christian Linke thought that the old Viktor was a "tropey, problematic russian robot guy"

Warwicks design while different still matched his fantasy of being a feral killing machine that just won’t die no matter what you hit him with.
hello shadow fight
Such a travesty 😢
even the laser was put in last second because they had to preserve that feature from previous skins
Most likely he had a newer kit more closely related to the show counterpart, but all 5 Viktor mains shot it down.

They took piltover and zaun in mind but not runeterra as a whole.

he's not uncanny at all in the show which is the funny part
Whatever happened to the "Arcane Lore is seperate from League lore" thing they established with the first season
They canonized it after the first season ended and saw how popular it was
They immediately backtracked during season 1 due to the popularity.
It is actually supposed to be cannon although that means a complete change in the base lore. Many zaunites in the lore now have no lore that makes sense. blitzcrank, Warwick, twitch, and others have had their entire backstory rewritten by arcane with zero care to the characters affected by it.
It’s dumb that popularity did this. It’s ok for them to be different
Riot has more say than Fortiche and its writers. It's so stupid.
the worst part is that he doesn't even resembles Arcane Viktor, he's like a goofy version of that emotionless god-like figure.
It's a more space odyssey take on "evolution", rather than just machine body augmentation we have on many champs like camille.
he's just another magic dude in the game now

@conniefan123 "rather than just machine body augmentation we have on many champs"; such as the one you mentioned, old Viktor, and Orianna, and Urgot. Truly many many champs
@@Lin_Nascimento yeah, augmentation, especially hextech, has already been done many times. The new concept really fleshes out "Glorious Evolution" more and is separated from other augmentation champs, giving viktor a much more unique identity
@conniefan123 Awful argument.
Keep the basics of the Arcane design but adding more machine parts to make him more similar to his old self.
it was addapting charactes from then game in season 1, in season 2 they were given free rein to do what ever they want and since Riot decided arcane is cannon they decided to Viktor rework the way they did
WW is next, I bet you that much
The fact is that WW getting changed wouldn't have been that bad.
I wouldn't really say old Viktor was popular. You would almost never see him unless he was particularly good that patch.

Another thing that no ones talk about, is that in Arcane Viktor obsession with a "Glorious Evolution" came from nowhere after he became space jesus, you could see how he wanted to "replace" his body parts in the final of season 1, but season 2 came out of nowhere and this wasn't a plot point until it was, it was like the writers remembered he IS a champion and "Glorious Evolution" was something already and they needed to put it there
Me when I watch a TV show with my eyes closed.
Came from nowhere? Hello? Have you watched arcane?
Okay I'll spell it out to you since media literacy is difficult
Viktor wants to fix his own body but also applies that same philosophy to the world at large - if his imperfections can be overcome by science, why can't all imperfections be erradicated?

They rly should have fully committed. Keeping his old kit while changing the looks to Arcane makes no sense, as he literally has not used most of his abilities in Arcane, or only did so once. @deviljin_x Creator Viktor skin laser + laugh was 10/10. They did him dirty with the new creator laser sfx too.

Looking at how they changed the name of both chaos storm and death ray to arcane storm and hextech ray, those two abilities were gonna be fairly similar to the original, but his q and w might have changed
2 bring back giving champs original skins, it is the one thing any champ that has had a big change to them should have. Aatrox is still very similar in design to his previous, but skarn, viktor, galio, fiddlesticks should all get skins that are reminiscent of their old designs
2 bugs me especially when they used to do exactly that with old champs like Karma and Trundle but stopped for some reason

In the past they also gave us the classic skin after a visual rework, why would they stop...
i came back to this game yesterday. i loaded in one ARAM game and did not check the loading screen. i thought the Viktor was Azir lol they look exactly the same now
This rework continues Riot's effort to sand off all rough edges and make everything clean, lean and pretty and I hate it. Even when they gave us the empress of the Void, the land of monsters and nightmares, they just had to give her a hot girl head.
I don't know what to tell you if you think his Arcane design is clean and pretty lol. If anything it's just the fault of the game developers for not translating his design well to the game.
the hot girl head made sense, since she uses it pretend to be a person and then BAM it's actualy monster. It's nice bait and switch
@@trimex7234it's a twink, he still has the same cute face
She is just a weird shapeshifting ray that is doing a bad job at corrupting reality because she is developing a twisted attachement, this blight had already started a long while back with Kai'sa.
For me, its his voice. The Arcane Viktor has a glorious combo of a subtle slavic accent and slightly aetherial/transcendental voice effect every so often. The in game one first isn't even the same VA, but the echo-y roboticised effects make him difficult to even understand.
It's the same VA
@uda4699 welp, you cant hear it because of the horrid robo voice effects
@@lukasinkovec I suppose
God damn does his kit feel so clunky, especially his E. Also he just dosent feel like his arcane counterpart.
If you are having trouble with his e, try clamping cast to max cast range, really makes a huge difference
@lucashodges5134 I'll try this cause to be honest after moving I usually just fire it at my feet 🙃.
it’s the same as with Kathus. Once you tick that setting on it’s like a different champion
@@Trykyl1 ironically I play karthus without clamp cast lmao 🤣
I remember the good ol days of Kleptomancy Viktor
The way old viktor ran when he had tier 2 boots and Q move speed is superior to the wonky anime like animations of current Viktor
I have gripes on the lore. They just sandwiched Blitzcrank in there to make him included. Not to mention. It seems like it was written by AI.
People really throw the word AI at anything these days
@trimex7234 because it is. It looks like it was hamstringed together by AI.
@@dravendraven1471 What makes you think that ? I wouldnt doubt tbh, the whole design looks so ai for me
They could just add Arcane Viktor as alternate universe anomaly and being new champ.
They just didn't commit to making him his Arcane counterpart, and for the life of me, I can't understand why if they were going to bother at all.
I always knew vgus were evil but the communities conti ued demand for more is outragous
He moves like Evellyn
@@elweon420even the cape looks like eves tails now..
Man why didnt they just make a new champ, still waiting for when a rework becomes a new character
I'm sure most are
Yeah that's how new Viktors design could have worked
A biomechanical amalgamation that looks absolutely terrifying
It combines both what we want and what rito wanted
Shame we got a blue wizard instead
No matter how bad they did my boy Warwick in the show (act 3) atleast I have comfort in the game. Im so sorry Viktor mains.
Viktor got that Glorious Twinkification
I liked to imagine that his abilities are intentionally "mismatched" every ability has a distinc purpose that dont depend on each other but function very well individually, while still harmonizing. Hes a champion that is very dependant on repositioning and he can do that well enough cause his r follows enemies and his e can be casted simultaneously with his q or w
I. Hate. It.
Arcane should've been about how zaun gained independence and it should've tied into the game, s1 did this perfectly, s2 shat the bed.
the glorius twinkification
I hate how riot redacts characters out of existence, like old aatrox and viktor may as well not have existed for the last few years. Would be great if there was a classic server so we can play as these old iteration's again.
Tangent about Arcane. Did anyone else notice that only ONE character had a truly happy ending?

Singed
It's not gonna be a Happy ending cause eventually oriana is gonna hate him and run away
I think I would rather have a full kit and vgu rework if they want to do it so badly. The end result seemed like rushed and not much tought put into it.
If you think he looks different imagine how I felt about Galio :p
Old galio sucks
Bro they turned a Cyberpunk character into a fucking Hogwarts character.
Twinktor.
viktors arc is why arcane cant be higher than a 6 outta 10 for me. the whole thing makes no sense (the timeline thing) on so many levels theres just too many plotholes, he looks ugly and like u said has nothing to do with the viktor we knew and were excited to see come to life. it truly showed how they fumbled by cutting the show 3 seasons short...
If they did this to one champ,no champ is safe, next season will be in demacia, they'll turn Garen into a twink.
R.I.P. machine herald, hello herald of the arcane, to sum it up
I decided to try the Spark gacha system. I bought ONE spark and rolled the Savior Viktor.
Arcane jinx, vi, etc. should be their base models now but naaah let's make skins that barely change them instead
gameplay wise, and I mean that simply isn't Viktor from arcane.
8:25 ngl i love this camrea angle feels so fresh seeing league from this angle
Even to this day i wonder why couldn’t give him a GROUNDED effect on his W
That would be amazing. It would help a ton with getting e and ult damage in.
