It was an homage to the age of 80s action movie heroes like Schwarzenegger and Stallone as well as previous manga like Hokuto no Ken. In the mid-90s (towards the middle of Part 4 - Diamond is Unbreakable), Araki started drawing his characters more slim with more realistic proportions than the cast of Predator. Now, Araki is on Part 9 and a lot of his characters are VERY slim, with many bordering on androgynous.

Why every skin has the two very long strands of cloth at the back? It's ok that new classic and arcane savior skins are in the godly heavenly/ethereal style, since he is the embodiment of arcane force/trancendent magic. But most of his skins are based on the mech/retro comic style. They are supposed to be the alternate versions of the character. So they should bring back the cape and shoulder pieces to still give it bulk. The back of the character model doesnt look like has details to showcase anyway. I love Victor in arcane, but that's just his new lore and background story. Retro comic/ junkyard tech style is still cool and relevant.

@@painkxller look i play a lot of viktor yes he not broken as many other champs he does provide dmg good teamfighting and very nice laning faze its nice not having another braindead battle mage just dishing out dmg with no skill required it makes him more fun to play and master. His evolution passive that he gets are very strong especially the 20% slow on every abillity his w might not be like a lux stun but it can stun multiple ppl cut off escapes and it doesnt get destroyed by wind wall or samiras deflect and ppl forget but his ult can interrupt chaneling abilities so he has alot of utility to offer no need for buffs maybe just a bit in the ap ratios thats it.
of course they took away the iconic death sworn mask. the psyops skin theme is very incoherent now, it used to be the "frontline mastermind leader" to a despicable me villain

If you see a man this tall(the model is reflecting arcane Viktor and he was very tall, a head taller than Jayce I'm pretty sure) staring down at you I don't know if you will call him non threatening. Tall twinks are sometimes even horror icons, 2010s horror icons but horror icons nonetheless.
I do combat sports and a tall skinny twink is not threatening. Having long limbs makes them easier to break. We’re instructed in training no leg strikes because you can break them.
Im really disappointed. I have been playing Viktor for 4 years, and this is not what I was hoping for after watching the first Arcane season. My boy went from machine herald to void jesus. Didn't we already have Malzahar for that? And we lost the cool walk!
It's not the void, it's something more nebulously magical. The Void is outright another dimension, with physical existing beings. Whatever is going on in the Arcane realm that reaches into the cosmos isn't confirmed to be the void right now.
This would be the right thing to do, but I'd much prefer they scrap this entire VU, and give us back the Machine Herald we paid for. Viktor literally didn't need to be changed, just have his skills updated and his model modernized. Instead, they twinkified him, changed all of his skins which look 10x worse now, and changed nothing about any aspect of his gameplay. What was even the damn point ? Just to get Arcane watchers to play League, which they likely won't anyway. All they ended up doing is pissing off the Viktor mains, and League players who liked the OG Viktor to satisfy the handful of people who have never touched League but liked Arcane Viktor. Yeah, this is a complete and utter failure of a VGU, just like Skarner. Absolute travesty.
As a person who doesn't play League and an artist, speaking purely out of artistic perspective - these new skins are GREAT. Especially the new animations and vfx looks way better, and skins like Prototype have more character with with very distinct super thin shapes than a muscly guy. The old ones were probably great back when they were created, but they look like something from an older game, so the refreshment was due. Lore wise I understand people being unhappy about the change from machine herald to jesus - I also wanted to see him go full scientific in Arcane s2, but if I were to play him, I can see there are multiple skins that are more mechanical.

Deathsworn could've had his face peeled away revealing a skull mask or something. Otherwise though I like it, I kinda find it funny even that the primary change is his bodytype and that's largely it. The issue I have flavor wise is I don't think this Viktor would be trying kill people with laser beams, but I understand that it's a game where you kill people.

They could have just make Arcane Viktor and Savior Viktor separately from all of his skins. Changing his classic look to Arcane doesn't make sense if all his skills remain the same. Cybernetic instead of Voidly "Puppeteer" Arcane. To rework each and every one of them without giving him "Arcane" skills doesn't seem to add up.
his old model was clunky but it kinda made sense because he was a robot. He still looks clunky but in a weird way. They need to add more texture to him and make his body looks less like a stiff wooden stick. Just look at the new psyops. @ don’t know man, everyone seemed happy with Viktor’s identity. They’ve changed that now from the machine herald to the arcane herald but all his skins tell a different story except for the new one. Viktor skins and identity were never a problem, that’s why you’re seeing so much uproar online. R changes + an arcane skin would’ve made everyone happy but I guess the skin needed a new model. I loved the arcane version of Viktor, but it’s just not him.
As a big fan of the old prototype skin, especially his hairstyle and face mask I really despise the change. The new skin is cool but it's not scrappy prototype, just victorian victor.
I don't get why people think this is better than the original. For starters, I don't know when did we transition from mechanic mad scientist to a mix of alien-angel dude with a couple robotic enhancements, wasn't kind of the whole point of Viktor to be the better version of a "human", evolve, in his words, it made sense he gave himself a strong iron body, in order to not just be resistant but imposing. New Viktor kind of looks like an alien Hwei, a couple of skins may be alright, but most of them are just... Bad? I really liked High-noon Viktor, now his staff is plain and lost all of the silver details on his clothes, also, I'm pretty sure I don't even need to talk about the downgrade on DeathSworn Viktor, truly a shame.

It honestly makes all of his old skins which although dated extremely cool. He was well built and menacing but now he is a straight up twink and a pretty boy now. They're changing almost everyone's lore with the series, now arcane is totally canon... which means his lore is and will forever be this (unless they reset, i dont think they will)

Idk, I feel like it gives him kind of a more unhinged vibe now. His model before was more physically imposing because it had a stronger build but I sort of like this better. I don't think anybody's right or wrong, it's all a matter of taste but I personally like the change.

The new Death Sworn Viktor is a MASSIVE downgrade in all ways imaginable. It was downgraded to a 975rp or lower skin. All character was removed and it looks nothing like a dead spectral being it’s supposed to be, just a blue man with a staff now.
@ It was the only Viktor skin that was vastly different themed than all other machine looking skins. It’s true that DS Viktor got much less love at release compared to Kat and Zed but it was still the best we had, and they somehow managed to downgrade even that.

Imagine you are a billion dollar company, you reluctantly greenlight a series that turns out to be the best thing "you" created in years and people love it. You then turn full 180° to accomodate that huge success in your actual game, make arcane events, an entire tft set and avalanches of merch. 3 years go by and you announce a MYSTERY REWORK alongside the new season. The series comes out, huge success. And then it's time to deliver the grand rework that you as a company actually had to do in house and it is a fucking ult system adjustment and that's it. Oh also all other reworks are pusshed to 2026 while it's not even 2025, byeee. Riot, my ladies and gentlemen.

I've been playing Viktor since release of Creator Viktor skin. IMHO, it is a major downgrade of visuals. I don't think I will play him anymore. I just hate the looks and it is an important part of gameplay for me.

Every single male champ in this game except a handful (ezreal, hwei, arguably aphelios, maybe jhin idk, now viktor) are muscular and traditionally masculine. Ksante, Sett, Braum, Aatrox, Lee Sin, Darius, Udyr, Pantheon etc. are all big ripped dudes. This is such a complete non issue.

This sucks, plain and simple. Riot dropped the ball hard with this one. About every choice they made here is wrong. Anorexia? Keep that shit to his legendary arcane skin. Regular Victor doesn't need that. What's with the default model color palette? This looks Piltover af, while he's a Zaunite. The laugh emote is way cooler on old where his 3rd arm lifts the staff showing the advantage of technology freeing up one's hands. Skins suffered horribly from this ASU as well. About only good that came out of this is Prototype Victor - that one is a clear upgrade. With High Noon being a sidegrade - smaller body frame means the small hat now fits far better, but the rest of body armor suffered. But everything else? Eeeesh. Especially Deathsworn and Creator. Both thrived on Victor being buff, either via heavy armor or more visits to the gym.. Now their main identity got flushed down the toilet... Overall - not a fan.
Think you’re forgetting this is all supposed to be in line with his new Arcane lore. Personally, I see the gripes, I just don’t necessarily think making him skinnier is a bad thing necessarily. The one thing I disagree with is that I think his new base skin is MUCH better. Wasn’t really a viktor fan before arcane, he always seemed lame. His new base skin fits with his new (better, objectively) lore and I like it much better.

Viktor is a Zaunite, but most of his (recent) life was spent in Piltover, both his personal and professional life were spent entirely there in the series. Seraphine and Vi are also zaunites, yet, look at them...
Don't even play League anymore, but Viktor was one of my top 5 most played since his release. Hate this, every skin other then Full Machine became WAY worse, even my favorite High Noon they f*ked up with the cape and the staff. Creator and PsyOps looks like a woman. In the end, his base model without skin is the best version now.
Because they wanted to keep him *somewhat* still the same. Can you imagine what the backlash would be like if they changed him completely? If you see a man this tall(the model is reflecting arcane Viktor and he was very tall, a head taller than Jayce I'm pretty sure) staring down at you I don't know if you will call him non threatening. Tall twinks are sometimes even horror icons, 2010s horror icons but horror icons nonetheless.
I do combat sports and a tall skinny twink is not threatening. Having long limbs makes them easier to break. We’re instructed in training no leg strikes because you can break them.

They turned him into a mix of Malzahar, Azir, Ryze, Hwei, and Xerath. His unique identity is just gone he’s just another mage now.
It's not the void, it's something more nebulously magical. The Void is outright another dimension, with physical existing beings. Whatever is going on in the Arcane realm that reaches into the cosmos isn't confirmed to be the void right now.

As a person who doesn't play League and an artist, speaking purely out of artistic perspective - these new skins are GREAT. Especially the new animations and vfx looks way better, and skins like Prototype have more character with with very distinct super thin shapes than a muscly guy. The old ones were probably great back when they were created, but they look like something from an older game, so the refreshment was due. Lore wise I understand people being unhappy about the change from machine herald to jesus - I also wanted to see him go full scientific in Arcane s2, but if I were to play him, I can see there are multiple skins that are more mechanical.

His face splits apart and open in his Arcane rendition but a lot of the other skins don't try to take advantage of this idea. Deathsworn could've had his face peeled away revealing a skull mask or something. Otherwise though I like it, I kinda find it funny even that the primary change is his bodytype and that's largely it. The issue I have flavor wise is I don't think this Viktor would be trying kill people with laser beams, but I understand that it's a game where you kill people.
He had the laser beam in the show and almost killed Jayce with it so yeah he would lol

I don't get why people think this is better than the original. For starters, I don't know when did we transition from mechanic mad scientist to a mix of alien-angel dude with a couple robotic enhancements, wasn't kind of the whole point of Viktor to be the better version of a "human", evolve, in his words, it made sense he gave himself a strong iron body, in order to not just be resistant but imposing.
New Viktor kind of looks like an alien Hwei, a couple of skins may be alright, but most of them are just... Bad? I really liked High-noon Viktor, now his staff is plain and lost all of the silver details on his clothes, also, I'm pretty sure I don't even need to talk about the downgrade on DeathSworn Viktor, truly a shame.

The new Death Sworn Viktor is a MASSIVE downgrade in all ways imaginable. It was downgraded to a 975rp or lower skin. All character was removed and it looks nothing like a dead spectral being it’s supposed to be, just a blue man with a staff now.

@ It was the only Viktor skin that was vastly different themed than all other machine looking skins. It’s true that DS Viktor got much less love at release compared to Kat and Zed but it was still the best we had, and they somehow managed to downgrade even that.

I've been playing Viktor since release of Creator Viktor skin. IMHO, it is a major downgrade of visuals. I don't think I will play him anymore. I just hate the looks and it is an important part of gameplay for me.

Skins suffered horribly from this ASU as well. About only good that came out of this is Prototype Victor - that one is a clear upgrade.
With High Noon being a sidegrade - smaller body frame means the small hat now fits far better, but the rest of body armor suffered.
But everything else? Eeeesh. Especially Deathsworn and Creator. Both thrived on Victor being buff, either via heavy armor or more visits to the gym..
Now their main identity got flushed down the toilet...

Viktor is a Zaunite, but most of his (recent) life was spent in Piltover, both his personal and professional life were spent entirely there in the series. Seraphine and Vi are also zaunites, yet, look at them...

Don't even play League anymore, but Viktor was one of my top 5 most played since his release. Hate this, every skin other then Full Machine became WAY worse, even my favorite High Noon they f*ked up with the cape and the staff. Creator and PsyOps looks like a woman. In the end, his base model without skin is the best version now.

Because they wanted to keep him *somewhat* still the same. Can you imagine what the backlash would be like if they changed him completely? All they did was update his clunky old model, made him skinny because the boi was chronically ill, and made his animations more flowy and its already ww3 from the viktor mains.

Why couldn't it just be a skin. This is not needed and only serves to fix the curiosity of tourists that watched the show and will try him for 1 game and never touch it again cause Viktors kit is just niche.
