There isn't such a thing as photogenic. There are people who have studied their angles and there are people who talk front facing selfies with bad lighting. Are they serious or playful? Certain people look cute and some people look more serious just by factor of their faces being different so if you learn what suits you best then you can be photogenic as well.
Hmmmmm I’m not sure, but in my life I’ve noticed people with sharper facial features look better on camera, while a softer faced person may be beautiful in real life but look not so good on cameras
This video brought to mind Ted Bundy for me, specifically how the media portrayed him as very handsome & unassuming.....I couldn't disagree more! Ted Bundy was on the lower end of looks to me, but there was also a definite creepiness to his look too.....I have noticed some photographs of him captured this more than others (some courtroom photos where he looked downright normal, masking?) Ted Bundy was considered an handsome man by many women and men who knew him in real life way before it became known that was a serial killer so the media has nothing to do with it.Also it cannot be denied that he was unassuming looking indeed which is the main reason why he was successful as a serial killer and the reason that for a long time a lot of people believed that he was innocent.
@@riversofbeauty2802 The media coverage of his trial emphasized his looks too, also friends etc are usually more diplomatic with their assessments..he definitely wasn't a gremlin, but he wasn't some handsome, suave seducer either imo...as for his looks allowing him access to these young women, one of his techniques was to use crutches in order to appeal to the sympathies of his victims, he'd ask for help, get them in a compromising position & attack. But I know we all have our opinions on such subjective matters like attractiveness.
@@ironsnowflake1076 I disagree with your general assessment. He has very masculine features and fits the classically handsome mold (especially with a beard) Tons of women swoon for rugged/'edgy 'looking men.
This is different though. At the time the meida portrayed him as handsome & unassuming they didn't think he was a serial killer, in fact those were the reasons they used to discourage that belief. The way the media and some "fans' portray him now is *because* they know he's a serial killer, and still glorify his looks and persona.
Dahmer did not look scary in the slightest sense though. Even the detectives that interrogated him said he looked like a college kid. Of course he looked defeated, depressed, sleep deprived etc. in the court room in some photos, however in most pictures and especially videos he looks very young, soft and boyish. He was conventionally attractive and that's how he could fool his victims, the police, judges etc. To me, Evan Peters looks more intimidating than Dahmer, mostly due to his dark eyes. Dahmer had baby blue eyes which (despite having a void gaze) contributed to his "softer" and innocent appearance:.I never understand why they didn't make Peters wear blue contacts, this would have made a major difference imo.
Yes, my initial reaction in 2020 when they announced Evan Peters to play as JD is that "What? But he doesn't have the blue eyes?" But the way he portrays it is awesome.
Would love to see an analysis of "femme fatale" faces such as Jodi Lynn o'Keefe. I'm a straight woman but man when I see a woman with this kind of intimidating look, my mind wanders.
QOVES: Hey, this is what makes a face look scary. Me, having the crease above the chin, furrowing low upturn eyebrows, gigantic dark circles, scleral show, long philtrum, square face shape, plus creepy little black eyes: .....this is a sign for me to stop trying to look cute and just keep owning the serial killer look like I've been doing my whole life.
Well, since I've had major crushes on half the actors shown in this video (was actually mad when the narrator implied that Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin was unattractive, that man is beautiful asf) I think you will find people who think you're pretty exactly as you are :D
I've always thought evan peters had a very youthful look. I think basically all of the intimidation factor comes from his eyes being very dark and deep set compared to the rest of his complexion and features. It creates a bit of an uncanny contradiction. I don't really get the whole aged and masculine thing from him at all.
could y'all make a video on research that talks about the likelihood of children being attractive based on parent's attractiveness and probability of good genetics being passed on? Ex. Are two attractive parents more likely to have more attractive kids, or is this more likely with one ugly parent, and an exceptionally beautiful one?
I think the main thing about evan peters is his unnaturally dark eyes. Same thing with ben barnes, where his resting face is always smiling and generally has a younger look, but his almost darker than black eyes made him look very intimidating (even in his narnia days).
QOVES videos need to be taken with a grain of salt. His videos when I first saw them were fascinating, but QOVES is trying to sell a product after all. Easier to sound very technical then push your product than just saying obvious stuff. He has nasolabial folds but they don't necessarily make one look old either.
When I heard i couldn't believe he is 35! I thought he was 23-24 Also his eyes are just too pretty! Evan Peters is one of the best actors of this generation, a true gem
This just seems like a case of cherry-picking studies that fit your personal beliefs. If young faces seemed more trustworthy, our politicians wouldn't be a bunch of senior citizens.
do we choose people who look trustworthy, or do we choose people who look intimidating so they can have advantage advocating things because others get scared of them
@@damlakacmaz8743 Perhaps in other countries, but I wouldn't consider the average politician in my country (America) to look especially intimidating. Most of them look rather soft and weak.
@@stuartist hmm you might be right, like governors or local politicians generally doesn't look intimidating. but i think there are multiple factors why they seem kind of cute and trustworthy, not because they are old. they seem capable and experienced because they are old? i think we tend to choose people with big smiles and big mouths?
It would be cool to see a video on body vs face for women and if and how it affects their attractiveness to men; specifically when the face is less attractive or even somewhat unattractive but the body is very nice how does this affect perception of them? I'm thinking specifically of a few actresses that come to mind one of them being Jamie Lee Curtis and a few other examples I can think of are like .. Sarah Jessica Parker, Lady Gaga, etc. Hope that makes sense and no one comes for me but I'd love a video on this.
Please do some analysis on the new faces we are seeing due to plastic surgery / cosmetic fillers... Especially those who are so artificially touched + unnaturally proportioned... I think it registers to some as borderline deformed and then to some as a trophy, status symbol and desirable in certain realms...
Am I the only one who thinks dahmer (and evans) just look like regular white guys? The logic here is very flawed and rests on the supposition that there is such a thing as common facial features possessed by "serial killers", or at least our cultural perception of those features. The aura of horror that a serial killer's face has on people only exists after the fact that the serial killer's face is menacingly and sensationally plastered all over the media. Our brain then just fools us that we knew such features meant something before the fact. Before the killer is captured our mind would find them to just be unassuming regular people. This kind of retroactive cultural characterization is harmful to society. Are we going to try and explain next what makes a guy look "creepy" or a woman look like a "karen"?
Just watch the video without any bias. Maybe there is some association with regular white guys or is it how you project it?... Do not shy away Stephen.
You're 100% right. I think they just call white people they don't find attractive "Karens" or "school shooters". It's just a racially conscious/woke way of shaming people for their looks.
To me I think the whole video is looking at this at how Hollywood casts the "serial killer" character and is looking at it through the eye features and brows. I guess they're saying these certain features can help "express" the character. The thing is though I know they're doing this video to just try to explain why such features are being associated to a "character" but you're right. This has an effect on how we could have bad assumptions of someone's looks, and also further "profiling" criminals, heightening their public image and possibly dampening the weight of their crime. I don't think QOVES intended these, but....I guess the more you learn, the more you can have info to critique too.
this sort of logic isn't really used on white people though, if anything, you'll be fine Only white serial killers are glorified because they are considered attractive, and the women who do it are mostly white.
In my country its both true and false. No one will suspect an old person of doing a crime like scams, theft etc, that doesn't mean anyone will necessarily trust older men as they are more suspected to commit sexual crimes, especially towards young kids, they're generally sleepy and Pervy. I come from a traditional countries were some people believe in witchcraft. Older women are by far more trustworthy but it seems if they reach a certain age point they are more likely to be suspected of witchcraft and sadly some lose their lives to it. In summary, older women are more trusted but occasionally get suspected of witchcraft and older man are less trusted due to their creepy and pervy nature.
This channel seems to be not that trustworthy. See my comment above. 'Trustworthiness ', 'intelligence' etc. are cultural. Also the constant analysis on facial proportions - it's almost like back to the 1920-1940 racial ideology or 'Ahnenerbe'. This seems a bit of a dangerous channel.
Oh come on. The actor was a good choice because he looks a lot like Dahmer (and can act). And Dahmer himself looked absolutely normal. What makes his face and his whole persona disturbing are the horrible things he did to people and how extremely screwed up in the head he was. That's it. Also i understand the need to analyze this case so that we learn to prevent this from happening and protect future victims from being failed by the system again, perhaps even emphatize with the perpetrator. But can we stop being fascinated by this individual? He was a murderer, not some oddity to marvel at.
no he does look like a serial killer but it's mostly got to do with his dead eyes and demeanor, though some of the features this guy pointed out do contribute
@@Incognition37 i agree on the eyes and brows, but everything else, no, like when he stated saying he had masculine facial proportions, when his 2nd third and forehead are bigger than his jaw, it’s like nonsense.

Isn't the thing with most serial killers that they are somewhat unassuming looking? Otherwise you end up on the police radar fairly quick. Dahmer did look pretty cold and hardened around the time of his arrest and in court but not to an abnormal degree. After he looked more broken and depressed.
They both had the exact same deep intense deep set eyes with so much masculinity and the same boyish cuteness which makes it perfect for evan to play jeffrey and his acting skills is soo intense and poweful.

Just an idea, I'd find interesting to know which facial features are most common in porn stars, both female and male. I've always thought there is a clear difference between the hollywood look and the porn look, but I've never been able to point it out.
I think he has allergy..
Yes, my initial reaction in 2020 when they announced Evan Peters to play as JD is that "What? But he doesn't have the blue eyes?" But the way he portrays it is awesome.
@@ns1208 Nah. He wore the yellow contacts during the show. I don't think the eye color was important to the overall look and physicality of Dahmer.
Also, idk if it was mentioned but evan's got some very deep dark eyes that make him look almost souless
Ikr! , Even without the glasses gives me this unsettling vibes too 😭
Would love to see an analysis of "femme fatale" faces such as Jodi Lynn o'Keefe.

Low trusstt
The actor looks younger! 🤯
I thought he was 23-24
Also his eyes are just too pretty!
Evan Peters is one of the best actors of this generation, a true gem
This just seems like a case of cherry-picking studies that fit your personal beliefs. If young faces seemed more trustworthy, our politicians wouldn't be a bunch of senior citizens.
Yes. Politicians. Very trustworthy.
@@hughjass6011 Appearance =/= behavior. People rarely vote for the candidate who they think look less trustworthy.
do we choose people who look trustworthy, or do we choose people who look intimidating so they can have advantage advocating things because others get scared of them
@@damlakacmaz8743 Perhaps in other countries, but I wouldn't consider the average politician in my country (America) to look especially intimidating.
It's the emptiness behind his eyes that I find unsettling.
Oh my god!! Please, I second this!!
@@ZeitwandelVibes I watched the video and none of the arguments made were very persuasive.
I don't think QOVES intended these, but....I guess the more you learn, the more you can have info to critique too.
this sort of logic isn't really used on white people though, if anything, you'll be fine
Only white serial killers are glorified because they are considered attractive, and the women who do it are mostly white.
In my country the older you look the more trustworthy people think you are
In my country its both true and false.
Which country are you from?
This channel seems to be not that trustworthy. See my comment above. 'Trustworthiness ', 'intelligence' etc. are cultural. Also the constant analysis on facial proportions - it's almost like back to the 1920-1940 racial ideology or 'Ahnenerbe'. This seems a bit of a dangerous channel.

It’s the contrast of his eyes with the rest of his skin which is really the nail in the coffin. They’re so dark, they almost lull you.
Please ditch this "camera in hand shake" effect. I mean these subtle movements of text & images. Just my opinion maybe other people like it tho.
It's funny I hadn't even noticed it before.
Subtle signs of aging = the serial killer look. Nailed it.
Evan's dark eyes surrounded by his light eyebrows/eyelashes and his pale skin are really intimidating too
His dark eyes are what's scariest about him to me, they contrast with his pale skin a lot
I swear, people expect you to look at if you're about to fall into your grave after a long tedious life once you turn 30
My theory is his dead eyes and monotone voice.
What are you even talking about, Evan has a baby face. He was chosen only because he plays psychopaths very well.
no he does look like a serial killer but it's mostly got to do with his dead eyes and demeanor, though some of the features this guy pointed out do contribute

can you do an analysis on joey king? a lot of people say they hate her just because of how she looks/the vibes she gives and i’m curious as to why that is
Isn't the thing with most serial killers that they are somewhat unassuming looking? Otherwise you end up on the police radar fairly quick. Dahmer did look pretty cold and hardened around the time of his arrest and in court but not to an abnormal degree. After he looked more broken and depressed.
They both had the exact same deep intense deep set eyes with so much masculinity and the same boyish cuteness which makes it perfect for evan to play jeffrey and his acting skills is soo intense and poweful.
I always thought that Evan Peters had youthful look to him even now at 35 he still looks young for his age, i think what makes Evan looks so scary is he'z cynical eyes they're really deep brown which gives him this dead inside and psychopathic type of image other than that what made Dhamer the serie so was he's acting skills more than anything else
I know it won't give as much views but can you make a video on why Rami Malek was casted to do Elliot in Mr Robot?
I think Evans dark eyes also makes him a good candidate for playing a scary person.
Just an idea, I'd find interesting to know which facial features are most common in porn stars, both female and male. I've always thought there is a clear difference between the hollywood look and the porn look, but I've never been able to point it out. Also, as a gay, I wonder what are the differences between male actors on straight and gay porn, I'm 99.99999% sure gay porn actorns are just way prettier and more atractive overall but again, I can't point out why. I wonder if this is too risqué but hey, it's just an idea. Cheers!
I saw Evan on a talk show and he said they used a lot of facial prosthetics for this film.
Analyze Monica bellucci's face. PAWESE 😢
This explains why nobody talks to me, I have a lot of these traits from unrelated things (like light sensitivity→furrowed eyebrows etc)
Try to soften the look by changing hair style/color and how you style your clothes. You would be surprised how people will treat you differently:)
I see Evan as having a baby face as well, and him maturing out of it nicely. I think he’s one of the handsomest actors in my opinion. His combination of classical and unique traits give him a very interesting look. Not boring or basic, but captivating. Ironically his eyes draw me in the most, though his brow ridge signals intimation, I think it’s well balanced with his big dark puppy eyes. I also like his upturned sharp nose, it’s compliments the other angles of his face while harmonizing his uniqueness. 🙂 That’s just my 2 cents/ artistic eye. (I’ve drawn him many times, and also studied his features)
