I'll be honest, I think seeing people discover Tool for the first time on react videos is my favorite thing on RUclips. That, and cats on piano. Yeah, that's about it.
I thought I was the only one
All I need now is cats reacting to Tool on RUclips.
I just wish more would start with another song other than The Pot. I guess whatever gets their foot in the door.
You must not get out much.
Same
30 years, 5 albums, one of the best bands ever. I don't recommend any one song. Their entire catalog is a must hear. Enjoy the ride. Welcome to the Tool Army.
the best.
This. You can't really have a favorite song from Tool.
Tool Army assemble!
Why does no one count Opiate? I know it was an EP, but the songs were all outstanding...
@@johnjohn37371I am referring to full length albums when I discuss an artists catalog. Early EPs are more akin to demo tapes. And I'm not trying to denigrate the work on Opiate.
The singer is the last person to contribute to Tool's music. Maynard doesn't write lyrics until the instrumentals are complete. So then his voice becomes another instrument and not the center of attention. And his visualizations become tasteful rather than tacky. Also he's a master lyricist, so it's straight up poetry when he does it. One of the most distinct voices in music - any - genre. Danny Carey is almost universally recognized as a drumming genius. Adam Jones guitar work is the best out there. Justin Chancellor's bass -- you heard it all in this song -- he's a phenom. These dudes have been killing it for almost 30 years. I'm 34 and I've been fucking with Tool since 8th grade -- it's so great seeing youngbloods discover this shit. Also, you're a cute couple, keep up the good work.
Yeah, you pretty much summed it up. TOOL is an inimitable groove unto itself and they went out of their way (and then literally went away) in order to cultivate their own mystique.
@@jhamler1 I heard they had some lawsuits over their music rights, raised some kids, and their writing style is just sloooow...I mean Maynard bought a vineyard and started 2 other bands with multiple albums waiting on his Tool band mates, LOL
@@yakamen yes they were in a legal battle with their record label which is partly responsible for the long hiatus between Lateralus and 10,000 days
Danny records last bud
@@CardboardInvestor Sure, but I bet he's not "writing" ad hoc whilst recording. I know he has a jazz background but they improvise to that degree. Chancellor and Carey coordinate a great deal in *writing* long before Maynard ever sees the music [to which he writes lyrics]. If and when they record, I don't know who goes first, that's not what I was speaking to.
In the song "The Grudge", he holds a 25 second painful scream. Amazing lyricist
29.4 seconds to coincide with the orbit of Saturns 29.4 year.
My favorite song. In my opinion the best tool song with every aspect of tool in it
@@linzilooloo7669 jesus this band blows my mind
@@bigbirdmusic8199 WORD!!!
Have you seen this video breakdown of Lateralus yet? If not you're mind will truly be both blown and fucked. :-D

@@linzilooloo7669 Saturn takes 29.4 Earth years for 1 Saturn year?
The singer, Maynard James Keenan, has two other bands. A Perfect Circle and Puscifer. High quality progressive rock following in the footsteps of bands like Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, and Rush.
There is no other for comparison, Tool's genre is Masterpiece Metal.
I remember hearing Tool back in 1993... the song 'Sober'... and they didn't show their faces in this weird claymation video. But the song rocked! Unbelievable that 30 yrs later... Tool is still at the top of their game🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥
Tool is heavy progressive rock... they started as a joke band back in 1991 in Cali... Guitarist Adam Jones (who is a special effects wizard as well) named the band after his backyard tool shed 😂 Maynard James Keenan was the singer, Danny Carey on drums... bassist Justin Chancellor replaced original bassist Paul D'Amour in 1996. Tool was weird from the start cos their singer Maynard sang from the back of the stage, rather than up front like most lead singers. They have this dark, weird imagery and their lyrics can be dark and humorous at times...😁
Some of Tool's classics - 'Stinkfist' ... 'Prison sex' ... 'Parabol/ Parabola' ... ''Forty six & two' ... 'Schism' ... 'Vicarious'... 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘
That music video on repeat. So fuckin good
Back when MTV was actually music television 🙄
I heard for first time at Lollapalooza '93 in Philadelphia!! Totally blown away....to this day!
Adam Jones designed the characters and models for the Sober video.
TOOL is just one of the greatest rock bands to ever walk the earth. Period
"TOOL is just the greatest rock band to ever walk the earth. Period" FIFY 🙂
I love how when the bass comes in the head starts to nod right away.
Facts! Lol🔥
@@OfficialLifeWithRecklezz this Bass tracks is with the Bass player name Justin.
The other bassist before Justin was Paul and I love him s bass lines too. I was 12years old when I first heard Tool. Now I'm 40. So when I saw how your head bop as soon as the bass came in I was like he's about to get hooked.
Tool is one of the most insanely technical bands in Progressive Music with sick riffs and grooves even in Odd Time signature. 46 & 2 is a must from Tool and the live drum cam version of Pneuma. Also some of the bands and musicians I'd recommend you to dive deep into Prog music are
Porcupine Tree
Steven Wilson
Opeth
Camel
Haken
Gojira
Dream Theater
And Polish prog band, Riverside too. And, of course, the band YES.
As a guitarist for 30 years I got to say I have issues with the band I think the guitar plane is pretty simplistic really I got to be honest with you man I just is a guitarist for 30 years I got to say I have issues with the band I think the guitar plane is pretty simplistic really I got to be honest with you man I just

@@fredtello But good prog is not always about fancy guitar work.
I second Gojira 100x over
Greatest rock band ever! Spiral out youngins. The rabbit hole is deep.
If you think he held that note long, and you want to hear the longest war scream in music-Tool, The Grudge.
AAAÀAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Would you please react to "Pneuma" also?
I absolutely love it! After, if you liked it- there is also the Danny Carey 🥁 Drum Cam "Pneuma" which has cameras directly on him. He's an incredible drummer. It's a reactor favorite!
^Pneuma drum cam = 🔥
Agreed. If you know ANYTHING about beats at all, you'll get why he's called Octopus
Thx! Never seen. id go with my cousins in 90s in az to see these guys
If you guys loved how the guitars and drums come in you’ll eventually have to check out Pneuma and Tempest. 🔥
They're not ready for 7empest.
The live drummer cam of Danny Carey on pneuma is incredible. He is one of the best drummers in the world
Invincible is another banger on that album.which is fantastic by the way
Pneuma will snatch their souls.
7empest is not exactly a song I'd introduce people to Tool with tbh. They need to understand their unique sound first before listening to a 16 minute track.
Welcome to the TOOL Nation! The rabbit hole is deep. The lyrics to this song are a call out to hypocrisy, but can have a broad interpretation. The lead singer Maynard is a lyrical genius.
In Tool the lyrics are as good as the music dont miss it out!
Here we go!!!! Looking forward to joining you 2 on this TOOL journey/ experience. 🔥👽👽👽👽🔥
He sings and screams, effortlessly and seamlessly. And he can do it all in just one song. And 3 bands. 🖤🤘🏽
Another note...Tool is infamous for off time signatures polyrhytims...to the simple ear is may sound off or weird but something ull get used too the more u listen and appreciate their art...
That look of joy on the dudes face as the groove kicks in is awesome.
YES!! I knew y’all would rock with TOOL! I’ve probably heard this track a million times and I feel like I’ve just listened to it for the first time! Amazing reaction!
🔥👽Welcome to the TOOL ARMY👽🔥
Get ready for the tool army to come in full force!
Hey guys! Jump on the Tool roller-coaster and the army will come! It's so much fun watching new fans being born! 🖤
LOOOOVED this! Y'alls smiles spoke volumes!
Tool is one of the Goats 🐐 of rock!!
The best band lyrically the best band musically ,
the best band ever!!!
I would call it ," Creative Art by masters"!!!
They fit together like peanut butter and jelly!
no !
More like peanut butter and milk chocolate!
Tool reactions are my all-time favorite. Cuz they're so Dynamic and smart and just fucking awesome for lack of a better way to put it. They mess with time signatures and keep you tripped up all the while blowing your mind with the sick ass lyrics. If someone listens to a tool song and does not like them then they are tone deaf. Love y'all man keep doing your thing
U know ur music my friend..I grew up wen Tool started..We were like WTF is this!! No internet back then..Thanks# Boston
So glad you guys got around to TOOL! I suggested the drum cam of Pneuma from an earlier video, but also want to mention TOOL'S cover of LED Zeppelin's NO QUATER (I know you like Zeppelin). It would be awesome to react to both and compare the differences. You can't go wrong with TOOL, there are no "throw away" songs, every one of them is an expertly crafted masterpiece.
I've accidentally become a connoisseur of Tool reaction videos and just love those expressions when "it" kicks in. Tool has been and remains exactly that to me, a tool with which I can tap into something bigger, more relevant. Something to make me feel, in any small way, part of some whole. I think we'll meet together someday. Spiral out.
6:19 When Danny Carey Lays Down The ‘High Hat’ On This Down Beat Right Here…It Magically Makes The Listener’s Head Start Bobbing Up & Down!! But Tool Is Just A Bunch Of Musical Magicians Gifted Way Beyond Normalcy!!😊
This band is straight up from outer space. Changed my life
great song and my fav band bro. personally would recommend 3 tracks: intolerance (to groove to), third eye (some inner soul seeking/trip song), pneuma (spiritual connection). love your reactions guys
It is highly recommended with Tool songs to watch the lyric video for the song. Mainly because with their arrangement Maynards voice can be hard to make out at times. The main video's you can watch live performances of and have the lyrics on a phone to read would be "Sober" and "Pnuema" (Danny Carey's drum cam). As others will give plenty of suggestions there are no bad Tool songs to listen too.
Justin Chancellor on bass here is incredible.
You two are embarking on an incredible journey that will only enlighten your life. Chick needs to close her eyes so she can find the energy that will make her connect with the music. Enjoy the experience and spiral out!! 🤘🏻
40 plus year rock drummer here and i have to say i just love Tool, such a unique style and sound and these guys take it to a A Whole Nother Level ! Welcome to the world of Tool , Great reaction and best of luck .
TOOL is one of a kind, I love all of their music!
That bass line is HEAVY
I grew up listening to,Tool when they came out on the Radio, no internet..We were like WTf is this!!! Incredible..Thanku#Boston mass
You guys are my new favorite reactors!Tool is an amazing band! Please give 46&2 a try,you won't be disappointed!Keep up the great reactions!
It just gets better man these guys are all about suburbing your expectations of what's going to come in in the next and the song they do this cool as shit where they play off rhythm on purpose but somehow the two off rhythms meet somewhere in the in the timing and it sounds f*cking amazing these dudes are the most unique band who's ever f*cking lived
These guys are at a different level.. perfection is close.. amazing band!!
The bass player and the other instruments are amazing in all of tool songs. Sober live is a must watch!
Yes! You finally made it to my boys! Enjoy
Tool has been my favorite band since 1993, when they released Sober on MTV.. I'm happy you enjoyed them.
Always a beautiful sight, seeing the expansion and growth of the Tool Army!!! Welcome
I love the grungy guitars sound in this song!
I've been waiting for yall to slide on over into tools lane. Let's go
I really appreciated this reaction I've seen both of you mature over the last year or so your more respectful with launguage saying mess with as opposed to the other word and this also had more input from your wife . Al round great reaction 5 stars
It’s good to see todays younger generation listening to Tool. Enjoy.
I’m just here because of the obvious dog whistle to us in the TOOL ARMY !!!! I’m going to see what else you guys have reacted to and see about subscribing. Side note, I’m really diggin’ all the vinyl hanging on the walls. Props for that alone !! ✌️
Bass guitar... Justin is amazing, even the solo is him....pedals and all its glory
Welcome...the Tool Army will never be far behind any new reaction to any song...it doesn't matter what song you listen to in their discography, it's all great...get ready to go on the ride and spiral out!
I’ve seenTool about 15 times in 25-30 years. 1st time I saw them.. Red Rocks in Colorado.. he came out in sling black dress and a long black wig. I looked at my friends and said I didn’t know the singer was a chick.. later he took off the dress and preformed in his underwear. Every time I’ve seen them he is usually back behind Danny.. the drummer. Once he was in a box with sheer curtains so you could only see his silhouette. Amazing band.. better live!! I’m seeing them again in Denver on January 27th!!!!
I say it often, many a channel blows up discovering and appreciating TOOL
Tool is one of the greatest collection of talent in a band you'll ever see. Drummer. Bassist. Guitarist. Are all elite. Vocals are phenomenal regardless of genre. Lyrically.....just listen and its no doubt. Way they layer their sound is like an orchestra. No one takes a backseat. They collectively put out a sound not many can achieve.
I'm reliving my first tool experiences through your reactions. Please do more 💕
I love how he was listing so intently then the smile broke out. Every 🔧 fan has had that happen at some point
Enjoy y’all, been a fan for 25 years. Since I was 14. They made a lot of music and none of it will disappoint.
Since you're new to TOOL I'd definitely recommend you do a Live song to see how good they really are. Either Sober or Pneuma
Wish more would react to Lateralus live because Danny has a part where with one hand he grabs a mallet and slams a giant gong behind him all while keeping beat with the rest of his body.
They’re currently touring and one of the best bands to see live. If you get a chance I highly suggest you go see them 🤘
Right on. Peace
One of the best to do it! In my mind. I heard a fitting genre as Euphoric Metal
One of the best grooves ever
Gladly more TOOL. Have you ever listened to "Gentle Giant" (band)? I only get to it because of the weird rhythms, musically it's quite different (but also good). To start with, I think "In A Glass House" from the album of the same name is good.
Everyone needs to hear Tool.:)
How did chick just set there during this wow I have never seen a reaction so chill lol but super happy you gave them a shot
I missed this one. 😕
Here now. 👍🏽
My son introduced me to Tool. Said I'd like a song.
Nah, whole damn album!! 🥳
Maynard is a genius, Danny is killer on drums!! Live this group so time for more please!!
Everything Tool, "The Grudge" maybe??
Smiling faces on this one!! ❤👍🏽😁
y'all kept me up till 7 am binging ur videos FML
My favorite tool song
I Tell People…”Please Don’t Cry At My Funeral!” B/c The Music Gods ‘Blessed Me’ During My Teenage Music Days W/ Metallica, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Sound Garden &
Then Hit Me Over The Head W/Some TOOL…I Look Back At How Lucky I Was…& Why I Became A Musician Myself…Writing/Recording/Performing My Own Music In My Own Home Studio…Please “Don’t Cry Me A River” Cuz I’ll Have A Big Ass Smile On My Face When They Close My Casket Door!!😊
I will never not bop my head to this bass line
The bass!
hell yea!
Loved it that was efin fire!! 😎
Welcome to a whole new world... Toolitopia!
TOOL has been one of a kind for a long time.
Love the reaction! Spiral out!
You'll love the grudge by tool
Check out “Rosetta stoned” . It’s a journey and we are lucky to have seats on that bus.
The bass line is fuckin' crazy! I love it
Tool is just different than everything else, and I truly mean that once you go over the discography paying attention to the lyrics, vocal Style and amazing instrumentals. It actually transcends music. Hopefully you can experience that because it's Unique
Tool is one of the best band out there. Thx for nice reaction
Tool is music 🤙🏼
Sober live is definitely you’re next video reaction. They are incredible.
Yeah! That and Pneuma live drim cam. Those 2 would just floor them.
the lead singer can hold a note while screaming so damn long.. “the grudge” and “H.” for example... amazing.. also best drummer in the world
I feel like I need a seat belt when I listen to Tool!
You are a gorgeous couple. This song is other worldly and it's execution is perfect. This is the only song I really like by this group, but that is enough for a 68 year old listener. I appreciate music in any form as long as it deserves my attention. Great reactions. You are getting better all the time. I like that your wife or partner is speaking up more. I am sure she has much to add to the reactions. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦🤗
“I think this is going to be a screamo”
Maynard: *sings like an angel*
Enjoy the ride. Spiral out!
Welcome to the Tool journey!!! Hold on for the ride!!!
46 and 2 is my favorite by tool. Do it with lyrics. Super deep message
I agree with everything
Welcome to the spiral! Cheers from Canada!
the bass is sick
I just paused at @1:22 to enjoy the moment y'all got your cool on and you don't even know!
This is a great opener for the journey...
The Tool Army comes strong with subscribers and Tool music will change your view of music. Enjoy
I have to smoke before I watch this reaction 🔥⛽️💨, I’ll be right back lol
