It's got the 2.7 Twin Turbo v6 EcoBoost.. yes it is fast... I got the same engine in my Fusion.... 380 torque hitting u at below 4,000 rpm is outperforming well over 95% of the vehicles on the roadway is the reality. Those numbers are very close to bmw twin turbo v6 numbers.... and bmw charges double the price for that performance.
You have any idea how hard it is to find an honest reviewer? Not a rolling endorsement... Great to see you having fun making these. Especially when you start to run around the vehicle in the form of a plane. LOL Sad to see cars disappear in favor of these monster machines... Keep them coming!
The 2.7 is a tank honestly. I was skeptical about it when I got it in my new truck but after driving it for a while I must say it is a very good engine. My previous truck was a 5.0 and the 2.7 is very comparable to the coyote.
Hi Sarah! Thanks for another car review video. You have a singular perspective on new vehicles, and I can tell you're not someone who gets paid to say just good things about them. Your love of cars shines through each time. Love from Michigan!
Fantastic review Sarah! Volvo's been using that style foam engine cover for a few years, they don't crack, just tear apart and fall to pieces! That CGI block is a monster. It is a derivation of the Ford/JLR Lion TDV6 that was extremely stout. As long as they don't run into head lift issues like some of the EB4s, and the transmission can keep from becoming a big box of neutrals, you're absolutely right, that thing should be able to put out some real power with a few tweaks.
Keep the reviews coming. $52K seems high, but this is a family mover with a level of performance. Recently sold a Ford Explorer Sport. 1996 model, 275K miles and still ran great. After 23 winters with salt and sand the body had given up. That was one well built SUV!
Sarah, thank you so much for such an awesome video. You nailed it on the capybara comparison! I have a 2021 Edge St, and it totally resembles a capybara. You are the Best!
I think the reason people are hating on it is because ford has done away with the ST's cars in the USA that folks actually liked, whether or not they were if fact buying them. I was never a fan of the front end of the Edge, but the rear does look pretty good.
When I went to Germany with my dad about 5 years ago we rented the Ford Kuga which is the Ford Edge there it was a 6 speed manual with a turbo diesel motor was pretty fun to drive and gave us 40 miles per gallon on the Autobahn.
I'm sure Roush and Steeda are already working on a performance packages for it. I honestly thought it would just be a rebadged Sport so happy to see it's more than that. Very entertaining as always. Great job Sarah.
Joe Bellanger If they can revise the TCU it will make a massive difference. The power is there, it’s the way it was delivered that kept me wanting more. I’m wondering if they had limitations on available transmissions that could hold that much torque while having optimal gear ratios to balance economy with performance.
@@SarahnTuned I think this is a brand new transmission from ford. There will probably be several software updates in the first year or two for them getting it dialed in perfectly. Transmission tuning gets real complicated real quick on modern setups. BMW, Audi, JLR, Dodge, and more all use essentially the same ZF 8 speed, but it was mostly on the manufacturer to get the tuning correct for the application. Some got it right, some are not quite there when it comes to the shifts being what you want them to be.
@@SarahnTunedfast forward to the second gen edge ST’s, 2021-2024 with a revised TCU getting rid of one of the gears, making it a 7 speed. Shifts are lightning!
Really good fun review! Best thing about this car is how they matched the tail light colours to the sunset...and getting torque steer in an AWD car is quite an achievement too. Those cup holders are copied right out of my Audi! Good job looking forward to the next one!! 🤗🤗
With regards to Soft engine covers . Many pedestrians involved in road collisions are thrown into the air and sustain serious or fatal injuries when they land on the car and their head hits the bonnet which is reinforced by the engine block underneath. So to soften the landing car manufacturers have implemented Pedestrian Safety Systems - they may have foam filled bumpers, pop up bonnets and Soft Engine Covers. I knew Volvo has implemented this (see Volvo XC40) but was not aware Ford had done the same. Hope this helps.
I'd take this over that new ugly *ss Chevy Blazer that's made in Mexico. The power train in this is better and the performance is better. Blazer price range is close to identical.
great review! I'm so glad you didn't mince your words. Honestly, I think the last thing we need is a powerful SUV. Big weight + Big size + Big Power = rollover death. Although, since it's a ford, the safety feature is breaking down before it gets into an accident.
Sarah I’ve managed to watch all of your videos without one inappropriate comment but that all ends today. You are the only Giant Hot Hatch in this video! Seriously, basement flooding hot! Ahhhhh I feel so much better now! Lol keep up the videos you rock!
I own a Ford Flex Limited 3.5L EcoBoost, and after adding the Unleashed Tune and a 3 Bar Map sensor, it is a really fun Toaster to give the beans to. If they'd put the 3.5L EcoBoost in the Edge, spot on. I want ford to make a Durango SRT level SUV for us dad's with 3+ kids (The Edge just doesn't hold enough monsters). I would suggest a 5.0 Coyote EcoBoost RWD Explorer :) (with a manual transmisison, but that is asking too much).
Just bought a 2013 Lincoln MKX for 21,000 with 28000 mi , it’s basically an Edge , with lots of leather ,305 hp 285 tq , I have to say we are glad we got it , think I’d have to by used cant see paying full price on the st.
$52k for an Edge. Pass. I’d be interested in seeing a comparison to a tricked out Subie Ascent for $10000 less. Appreciate the honest review and bean score..
My wife's 2013 2nd gen awd 2.5l edge came stock with 285hp its got better power to weight than a stock 2.0 wrx! Granted, you have to wind up the automatic rubber band trans but once that bad boy lets go, wheeeeeeeDoggy! I love carving the NM mountains n highways with it and it's not even a sport. The added hp of the new st power plant and added plushness of the interior will definitely be having us trade up to a used low mileage one once reliability and integrity is proven 👍 p.s. thank you for another kickass review full of laughs n eyebrow raising goodness 😋
I almost bought one of these a few weeks ago I really liked it. It was very comfortable and had enough power to keep me interested. But then the dealer only wanted to give me $26,000 for my Ford Mustang that I paid almost 50,000 for several months ago I told them to jam it and left.
I own one of the rarest "crossover" SUVs (2007 Subaru Forester XT Sports 5 speed) and am lamenting not only the Forester's demise, but, the demise of cars/trucks/SUVs with a manual trans. Ford at least gave a nod to performance/handling, and, with the aftermarket, this should be an entertaining vehicle to own. I'm curious to see what's released just for ECU tuning, as that's what folks will probably do first.
Thanks for the mechanic's perspective. Definitely have to factor someone else doing those rear plugs into cost of ownership on top of that awd system. I'd really like to see how hard it would be to swap that battery. Seems like every little thing would be a headache / add a charge.
I think the trunk is amusing If I’m going to be using it a lot I think that chime will wear off after a good amount of use cause ik I would a take my chances with that kind of liftgate😂😂😂😂
Ford's beep when you hit the lock button on the key fob twice. I like your reviews - they're different in tone but cover all the bases. Congrats on getting manufacturer review cars.
Yeh if once ita tuned. The transmission will be different. Livernois takes care of that in their tune. Yeh dual clutch would be great. Wish they put the ZF8 speed in it.
Love the channel and the reviews. For $52 k you could get a Porsche Macan. I suggest a side by side comparison of equal price vehicles. Lexus, Lincoln etc. keep doing what your doing.
Wow, that running around the car was even more awkward than normal lol. Those sunsets are really gorgeous. Good job setting those shots. Whatever happened to you doing reviews for TFL?
Did you change the transmission mode to sport mode ? You didn't mention the various shift modes ? There's a vast difference between standard mode and sport mode !
wayne larson I kept it in Sport most of the time I had the vehicle. I did talk about it in the video, but I trimmed most of that out due to audio issues with my microphone bouncing around over potholes. I was actually disappointed with the manual shift mode.
Nice job Sarah! I I am liking the new car reviews very much. I concur with your assessment. I have a 2017 Ford Escape with the turbo. I don't really see the need in a miniscule size difference to get the edge. When the Escape does everything very well. It's just like the Taurus compared to the fusion. Don't see the need in a Taurus. Unless you need the all-wheel drive with the bigger engine. And then you get more beans. But as far as the interior room and the design the fusion wins Big Time.
Good review Sarah! Speed Channel or Velocity should sign you up for your own show. The 2015+ Edge Sport with just a Livernois Motorsports tune runs in the 12’s now, so I would expect their ST tunes to be there as well.
The Fiesta ST in the water and "shots fired" absolutely made my day.
LOL, shots fired then she starts to run!! Nice Sarah, I needed a laugh right now. Keep the videos coming.
Instant classic. I need to take a knee😂😂
@@dogleg5speed634 / Yeah....that was the 'Bestest'
Apparently, it's how she responds to danger in video games too.
Need a Monty Python meme about now. :-D
lol
I don't know why I laughed so hard, but that cracked me up.
“Mommy missle” that had me cracking up the whole video 😂
On my second one, but this time with the 21” wheels and brake upgrade. It’s fun and considerably less money on gas and oil changes.
It's got the 2.7 Twin Turbo v6 EcoBoost.. yes it is fast... I prefer the face and rear lights before the model refresh.
$52k for an Edge!? Um, no thanks.
Yeah at that price, a one year old Shelby GT350 would be a much better "performance vehicle" and investment!
I saw that and my immediate thought was a typo but nope. It STARTS at $42k. That's nuts.
Aaaah, but fuel efficiency?
A Mustang GT wit a PP1 or 2 and some other goodies for me please!
