      except for the fact that she pretty much legally owns all of your stuff, maybe you just should have kept your room clean

      Rosemary Crafting no she didn't. I worked and took care of myself and her. Paid rent too. She came into my space on another floor (2 family my sister and I lived upstairs) and violated my property. Mine and my sisters. BTW that was over a decade ago dear.

    • @GinaJonesStillettoQueen
      @GinaJonesStillettoQueen 8 лет назад +14

      Rosemary Crafting it's illegal to throw someone's things off the property let along, throwing it away. She could've been sued if I wanted to do so.

      Rosemary Crafting at the time I was. I still worked and took care of myself. Nobody should have their things thrown out, especially your kids. That's all they have. Yeah they should help out is why I said what the lady did wasn't cruel. What my mom did was.

    When I was younger I got in trouble for throwing up on the floor(age11/I have acid reflex) My Step-Mother made me bag up all my clothes and keep them in the garage. Her reason being, that I was playing sick for attention. I couldn't understand why I was getting yelled at for being sick! I could only earn back a piece of clothing for every chore I did. It was absolutely terrible. Thank God, she is outta my life.

Just the threat alone of having my stuff donated or thrown out, was enough for me to get my ass in gear. LMAO! My mother kept a clean house and it wore off on me. I honestly didn't like having a messy room. Even as a young adult when I moved out on my own, I kept my apartment clean. Now that I'm in my mid 30's, I'm not as much as a clean freak as I used to be. I've struggled with Fibromyalgia and chronic pain for the last 20 years. As I get older, it makes cleaning harder and harder to do. But I still do what I can on my good days. • @Beaneabean

    My question is why do parents (especially mothers) always feel the need to post about their children's punishments online? Why do you need a bunch of strangers and or friends telling you that you're a good parent and that your kids deserve it? Why is making your kids out to be rotten a cool thing?
    What goes on in my house doesn't leave the house unless someone is at danger. What do you get out if humiliating or belittling your children? You're not getting a gold medal, honey.

    Wait 25 dollars a bag? In my house you did the stuff you needed to do for FREE. So how much does this kid make for chores?! I have found in the 8 years being a nanny that when kids are being PAID to do things around the house - they don't do them as often then when they are taught from a young age it's something you just DO. They only do it if they need money for something and have only one way of getting it, they do the chores for the amount they want then don't do any until more is needed.

    • @isabelasanchez845

    • @hgib3

      BasqueOblivion, perhaps it was extra chores like washing the cars, mowing the lawn, weeding the lawn, painting part of the house or deep cleaning something. I agree with you about chores being something you do because you are part of the family. I am sure that the teens worked for what they needed and not likely any more afterwards. I am laughing at the $25 a bag though! Hahaha...

If the worse thing her kid did was being messy then lucky her. I could understand if family was coming over or they were trying to sell their home, but really just let the room be and close the door if it bothers you so much.

    • @Call-me-Al
      @Call-me-Al 6 лет назад +1

      Calliope May if the parents GIVE the toys to their kids, they don't own them anymore. But if they are just lending them the toys (and tell the kids as much), it works out. Babies for instance don't really own their toys, the parents just provide them the toys temporarily for the sake of the child's motoric development and more. Kids that are as old as teenagers usually definitely own some things of their own, but they need to have been taught already in kindergarten that ownership comes with responsibilities. A lot of parents fuck themselves over by trying to teach them responsible ownership much too late. It's a gradual thing they need to start learning at a very young age, including that the parents respect their responsible ownership but if you treat your things like trash in the common areas then others will treat them like trash too. There are however few brain conditions that will make it abnormal hard for a child to focus on what needs to be done, e.g. ADHD. But that means they need more responsibilities and help, not less. Kids with special circumstances need to be taught efficient coping mechanisms for their condition.

    Drove me nuts that if my brother washed his own dinner plate (not everyone else's) he would get money for "chores" yet i had to vacuum every room in the house, make my bed, my parents bed, my brothers bed, clean the bathrooms, wash the walls and windowsills, dust every little thing, poop scoop the yard, water the plants, fold laundry, etc.. on a daily basis!!! (who needs to do spring cleaning every single day!?) and i never once received a penny for chores. It was just expected. I never really bought into the whole "world is sexist" bit, but i can't think of any other reason as to why my brothers didn't have to clean and i did. Either i had to clean because i am female, or maybe they just hated me. I didn't get money until i was old enough to legally work (which was after leaving home) It still boggles my mind when kids have money. How does a child come to have money?

      Cj Johnson Absolutely agree! My 2 oldest boys were sooo helpful as young kids. Now that they're 11 & 14, they like to think they don't have to listen. Thankfully my 11yo likes to have a clean room, but my 14yo is a mess! And he used to be so meticulous about his room. All his books arranged on the shelf by height, toys in the toy box, laundry in the basket, etc. Now everything is everywhere. Ugh. Hoping he outgrows this phase of lazy before he gets out on his own.

    Look how many bags there are. That's hundreds of dollars. There's no way she was giving them like 10 dollars for unloading the dishwater. It could easily take months to get their stuff back. She was keeping them from being able to do schoolwork and extracurriculars. And no, band and soccer aren't "privileges" that can be taken away for minor things. She's harming her kid's teams for something minor. If my parents too away my band music, I'm screwed. You don't have cleats for soccer? You're screwed. If you're going to sign your kids up for activities then you are making the commitment to make sure your kids are prepared for it. If they had done drugs or were failing several classes, then fine, pull them out of extracurriculars. But not for little things like this that actually won't impact their futures at all. And if they're busy kids, they don't have time to keep their room pristine. It doesn't really effect her if their rooms are dirty as long at they're not actually being slobs and leaving food/drinks in their room.

      Drew G. Agreed, if she would lower the price I'd be fine but it's still jeopardizing grades and extracurriculars. My grandmother did this to me a day before the most important assessment of my semester, so I had no way to study and I didn't have a notebook that is required for taking the test, so I ended up failing my English class first semester.

And there was at least 15 bags , the 25$ a bag thing is extremely cruel and with the stuff they needed in there being lost and scattered it could be months, and it could damage grades& reputation. They couldve chosen what they earned back & not for money!!! Do behaviors and chores. It would be a Month of chores before they got one bag back.absolutely unfair & could seriously hurt their future. This is awesome! I totally sorted my brother out when my Mum was laid up with shingles for two weeks! There's four years between my me & my brother & six years between me & my sister. I was in my early twenties at the time. While my Mum was ill, she couldn't move without being in agony! So I was pretty much running the house for the two weeks. My brother was used to my Mum getting fed up of waiting for him to do a chore & giving in & doing it herself. Not with me! I'd given my brother & sister one chore each for the day. My brother was to wash the breakfast & lunch dishes (there wasn't much from them) & my sister was to wash the dinner dishes (the same amount as the breakfast & lunch dishes combined). I kept reminding my brother during the day that he needed to wash the dishes & each time I just got "yeah in a bit". It got to 4pm & nearly time to prepare dinner. So I told him, if he didn't do them before dinner, he would have to do the dishes from all three meals. He was like "yeah, in a bit". He still didn't do them. So he ended up with the dishes from all three meals! My sister bless her asked if I wanted her to just do them & I was not gonna let her take his chores & consequences. So I asked her to dry the dishes so he had room on the draining board to do them all. She did, bless her heart. And I kid you not, for the rest of the two weeks of my Mum being laid up, he never put his chore off again! I just wish my Mum had carried it on afterwards!

    As a 14 year old girl in her freshman year of high school, it is very frustrating seeing people clapping for this woman's act and laughing at the people who believed it was wrong my parents have done this multiple times when i would have barley any mess at all. I can say for myself at least it is physiologically damaging me it shows no respect for our stuff and yes i get it, "it's the parents house and it's under there roof so everything belongs to them in technical terms" but if you would really like your kids to learn this isn't the way. Letting them get fed up with themselves is effective because it makes them realize it's a problem when they start having issues with it. When they are fine in their room THEIR LIVING ENVIRONMENT that the other people in the house don't have any need going into, then let them be fine until they feel need for a lifestyle change because i can say first hand when the parents have the problem and deal with it in this way it makes the parents look like the neurotic unsatisfied neat greek which ultimately leads to other bad actions worse then leaving a damn tissue or sock on your floor. I will not tell one parent how to parent but i hope this gives you insight on how your kid may be feeling as well as me when their punishment is this.

He was told I payed the bills so all of the rooms were mine,so for him to remain having a room he had to clean it up. He did,but it hurt me to remind him. He finally got it together and is now an organized adult. What we weren't able to get to in time would be put into trash bags and either thrown out or donated. It’s no that mad. My mum packed my shit up for a whole summer once and put it in the attic. All I had was a bed. When I got it back there’d been a wasps nest up there...loads of dead wasps all over my stuff.

    You can’t steal something from your child if it’s for school.

      Nabranes TwistyPuzzler yes I totally agree. Taking the laptop charger stops her child’s learning. That is not being a good parent

      bek nuth no it doesn’t. If a laptop charger is keeping them for doing their school work than they are too lazy get a library card. Libraries have computers, internet and books. They could also stay after school and use the computer at the school.

    Yeah there's nothing cruel about this. I think the coddling and avoidance of discipline that's happening with our youth today is the cruelest thing we could do, because it's setting our kids up for a rude awakening in the real world, and not preparing them for real life.

      Tori Cervini the issue with this discipline is that I feel like it actually has the opposite effect. I understand the intent, but it isn't effective. Again every child is different and we can't all assume that a single disciplining method would work for every child.

      Tori Cervini there's discipline and there's abuse. There are far too many parents that don't know the difference.

      If someone moves all your stuff into trash bags in the ~real world~ you can sue them.
