She used it a few times to stop tribal leaders from going to war with each other(by getting them completely wasted) and she married Tryndamere to secure barbarians to her side. She has more than enough experience to deal with Sylas and even convinced him to join her.
I have to say, i think the Sylas actor is the best one. He's so dramatic yet conveys his disdain so well.

Ok, so basicaly here is a shortcut of his story for those who still haven't read his lore: He was forced to help mage hunters as a child, but then he actidentally killed his master (mage hunter) because he tried to protect a little mage girl (he killed her too btw). After that he got imprisoned and now we go to the main story. So basically he met Lux and in my opinion she was probably interested in him because he was the only other mage she could talk to (I do like looking for hidden romances in game lores, but I know that riot doesn't realy like using romances, so I would simply call the relationship of Sylas and Lux friendship, eventually a crush from her side). When others discovered about their secret meetings Sylas was sentenced to death. During the execution Lux was begging the guards to let him go, and she got close enough for him to touch her and use his power stealing magic. Next thing we know is that he killed everyone apart from Lux. I don't know if he killed/destroyed Galio and Garen because there was no information about in his story, just in teaser pictures. The story doesn't emphasise what riot meant by "killed everyone"....
You can safely assume he didnt kill galio or garen as they are still very much alive. Cant just kill a champ in lore but have them be playable still as the game takes place after the entire story already.
images in the teaser are not really canon lore-wise. Same happened with Jhin killing Garen, Vi, Zed and Sona
